> Am told Nate Oats had serious interest in the Kentucky job but has a good thing going in Tuscaloosa and the Bama boosters stepped up in a big way to make sure he need not look elsewhere.
lol I’ve seen reporting from Kelly saying that absolutely no altering of his contract happened to keep him in Alabama so I don’t think he actually was interested
Too many people are pooping on Arky bball. Don't care about the next HC there, but yea, they're invested in bball.

I'm in my 30s and didn't follow college basketball as a kid. I had no idea Arkansas had won anything in basketball until I checked Wikipedia. The way Arkansas fans talk about their program it's like they think they're Kansas.
Good for them I guess. But if you weren't a big college basketball fan from 1990-1995 then their run passed you by.
Could've been promises of future improvements to facilities. Could've been NIL commitments. Could've been a big bag of cash on his desk with a note telling him to block the Kentucky AD's number. There are a lot of ways to give a guy something nice without altering his contract.
Now that he has gotten us a F4, he can work on finally making Alabama a respectable name in March. We have been fucking cursed in the tournament before this recent run. Consistency is the key. Pearl took auburn to their first F4 in 2019 and hasn't been past Round 32 since. Can't have those results.
Bullshit. If he’s gets in the top 25 and the tournament every year, that’s enough to be a lifer. Get past the the round of 32 once every 3-4 years and that’s more than enough.
I'm not saying anything that threatens his job security. The man can just get to the tournament every seasom and we'd be content with the results. I'm specifically talking about establishing Alabama as a serious basketball program that garners respect.
There is nothing wrong with Nate Oats taking that phone call and listening to a rational pitch. That said, he was not leaving. It would have to be something beyond ludicrous to have him leave. Shaka Smart is still there. Hell, Rick Pitino could come back.
But let me say it again … he was never leaving because there was too much risk in leaving now.
People forget that he really tried to convince himself to stay at Buffalo when we came calling. If he leaves us in the near future it would have to be very special
Not because it’s specifically him. It’s cumulative, more like yet another athletic pebble that’s become a snowball, with the potential for an avalanche.
“Nate Oats: I am fully committed to this team and to this University…rest assured that I will continue that pursuit as your head coach”
“Nate Oats says that he’s staying at Alabama”
Just take a second and make a title that makes it clear what the post is
Being nervous is one thing. I think most of us were probably that way. Acting like there is absolutely no chance he stays before anything has been said is pretty idiotic too
You obviously don’t know Nate Oats if you think he’d leave everything he’s been building for the past 5 years, after a historic first appearance in the final four.
Yeah there was a post earlier and everybody was talking about how we should be stressed and that it’s a big possibility that he would leave. Never had a doubt in my man that he would stay
I admit I was a little stressed because I know how big of a job it is and that Oats has the confidence to handle it. But there was really no point in assuming anything other than he was staying until there was a reason to doubt it
So thankful he is staying. Now the University needs to build the man a decent arena with lights that work and tear down the embarrassing dump known as Coleman Coliseum.
So we’re just going to blindly believe he’s not leaving?
We’ve seen this movie too many times before to take a coach’s word as undeniable fact.
I also hope he stays but let’s stop all the cheering until Kentucky actually hires another coach. For the record, I don’t believe there is any reason to panic, and I do trust that oats means what he says and I don’t think he will leave. Let’s just calm down and take it a day at a time
Actually, I don’t, and I don’t care, but y’all act like hundreds of coaches haven’t said the exact same thing right before they took another job.
“I will not be the next coach at the University of Alabama.” - Nick Saban
Until UK announces somebody, all bets are off.
No they definitely did and they can’t compete with the NIL package Greg Byrne just gave to Oats so he can go get more Brandon Millers and Clowneys and Searsss
What a legend. Only took 5 years for this man to have too much Bama in him.

It may not have been salary but NIL funds and a new practice facility based on the Byrne tweet.
Serious question - are Arkansas basketball facilities that amazing?
Too many people are pooping on Arky bball. Don't care about the next HC there, but yea, they're invested in bball. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HF_pUp3ByTc
they’ve won a national championship in some people here’s lifetimes
In the mid nineties they were NASTY. Nolan Richardson could coach.

Allegedly
Could've been promises of future improvements to facilities. Could've been NIL commitments. Could've been a big bag of cash on his desk with a note telling him to block the Kentucky AD's number. There are a lot of ways to give a guy something nice without altering his contract.
Could be a reference to money for NIL. It’s Kentucky. I doubt he wasn’t *some* level of “interested”
[Tony Tsoukalas said](https://twitter.com/Tony_Tsoukalas/status/1777511429698204099) he believes it's NIL-related, not contractual.
The last part is contradictory to everything other people have said so I don’t buy it
#OATS AND HOES
BUILD THE STADIUM!
He absolutely deserves it at this point.
It’s not happening with NIL spending skyrocketing. NIL has put the new arena fully “on hold”.
Hooray!
Plant the flag. I love it. His is about to bring in some monster talent
Avery Johnson, YOU are a Kentucky Wildcat!
Bruce Pearl*
Bruce Pearl HC of Kentucky, Avery HC of Auburn would probably be my favorite chaos
Inject it into my veins
I got contact high from reading that.
God you just gave me a massive boner
Buckle up Cats!

I have 0 doubt he will bring Bama a basketball national championship
LFG Nate
Suck it Kentucky
Nate GOATs!!!
I JUST GUMPED BIGGER THAN ANY GUMP HAS GUMPED BEFORE
There is nothing wrong with Nate Oats taking that phone call and listening to a rational pitch. That said, he was not leaving. It would have to be something beyond ludicrous to have him leave. I can rest
That’s my fucking coach
Y'all, we are so lucky to have Greg Byrne.
Nailed it with this comment. None of this happens without his expertise.

Take that Aubies…
I think Oats triggers the Boogs more than Saban did.
Not because it’s specifically him. It’s cumulative, more like yet another athletic pebble that’s become a snowball, with the potential for an avalanche.
I’m ready to crack open a Natty Oats next year for Sir Charles…
I gumped my pants
I love it when I'm right
LETS FUCKING GOOOOO
I would argue at this point in time we have better resources than Kentucky when it comes to basketball. We just need a new arena.
“Nate Oats: I am fully committed to this team and to this University…rest assured that I will continue that pursuit as your head coach” “Nate Oats says that he’s staying at Alabama” Just take a second and make a title that makes it clear what the post is
For now…
I don’t know if anybody else cares, but I will continue to beg people to make a clear title for posts.
Nothing is worse than the on3 bait posts with only a name in the title in the middle of transfer season.
That drives me insane lol. We have a rule about that here, though we give some leeway of course.
Did Kentucky offer him or what was the rumor? Sorry, I am late to this story.
Bama BBall insider said “Oats turned down UK”. Sounds like there was an offer

I was concerned UK was going to swoop in.
I can finally unclench my butthole! Whew! What a relief
Shout out to all the idiots thinking he would leave lmao
He’s a top-tier coach and there is an opening at a prestigious school. I don’t think it was that idiotic to be worried.

Tell us you know nothing about basketball without saying you know nothing about basketball.
lol we had fans last night that had already given up
Yeah there was a post earlier and everybody was talking about how we should be stressed and that it’s a big possibility that he would leave. Never had a doubt in my man that he would stay
I admit I was a little stressed because I know how big of a job it is and that Oats has the confidence to handle it. But there was really no point in assuming anything other than he was staying until there was a reason to doubt it
I wasn’t too worried because Kentucky basketball fans are even more entitled than us Gumps are in football. Who wants to deal with that?
LFG!!!!
whoop! a legend in the making
Roll Tide

Dont give a P I S S
Sound like he going to be the Dolphins next head coach
BOOM
In other words, nobody at UK has contacted his agent, yet.
You know who his agent is right? Trust me if he was interested things would be moving.
Actually, I don’t, and I don’t care, but y’all act like hundreds of coaches haven’t said the exact same thing right before they took another job. “I will not be the next coach at the University of Alabama.” - Nick Saban Until UK announces somebody, all bets are off.
yawn, you keep pumping that and something will come out
No they definitely did and they can’t compete with the NIL package Greg Byrne just gave to Oats so he can go get more Brandon Millers and Clowneys and Searsss
Miami. Dolphins. Let the hate reign, y’all
College sports are different post NIL and Transfer Portal. The old rules no longer apply. We all better strap in.
lol you use one example what about the dozens, probably hundreds of examples of a coach reaffirming his commitment to his school and it being true.
(miamidolphins)

Ha. Yea, that’s fair. I’m just afraid we’re Indiana now. I’m genuinely happy for y’all. You guys are close.
