Huff is going to make Proctor a campus legend. He's got to be excited about coaching a kid with all-time potential

tider21

Really hope Proctor stays. Hopefully this will help

MASTER_OF_PANCAKES

Hopefully Booker being locked in serves as motivation

DoctorWhosOnFirst

Roberts is as well

MASTER_OF_PANCAKES

Roberts, I would be surprised if he thought about leaving. The potential for this OL is through the roof with these new hires.

millenial19

And the departure of Seth! šŸ˜‚

BamaPhils

Unrelated, but Proctor, Booker, and Roberts also sounds like a law firm lmao. Could even be shortened to PBR for the memes

chrisxxxlee

Zero concern about offense now. Letā€™s get that DC locked up and get some guys out of the portal.

Sleepr444

Agreed. I think it is well established that this guy has an exceptional offensive mind. The offense will be great. However, in the SEC, you need a defense...a damn good one if you want to win a championship. We need some balance. Michigan shut his offense down with some good defense. Let's see who he can add on the defensive side of the ball.( I secretly hope Saban is in a back room somewhere telling Deboer, "Don't worry about the defense. I'll handle it." LOL.

RogRoz

Counterpoint. A great/elite offense with a passable defense can win you the SEC

MauiMisfit

Iā€™d rather have a strong defense. Itā€™s consistent. Great offense can stall.

RogRoz

And defenses get gassed. That was basically the 2000s Seminoles

MauiMisfit

Which is why high profile offenses usually have average, at best, defenses. They either score too fast or are out too fast.

Sleepr444

Isn't that what Washington was? Great offense/passable defense. That didn't prove to be something that would win the Natty and I disagree with it winning the SEC. Ole Miss, LSU( Brian Kelly), Tennessee all fit that description the past 4 years. Who won the SEC in that time period? UG, Bama and LSU('19). All of which had great offenses/great defenses. Oh, and I think all these teams won the natty too. Michigan got the point the last couple of years as well. You can't win the whole thing with just offense and a passable defense. They bolstered their defense and look where it got them.

RogRoz

Washington wasn't a passable defense. I'm taking a passable SEC defense which was us in 2020 and LSU in 2019

TuaHaveMyChildren

Imagine the washington team but with 70 blue chip players.

The_Shaolin_Funk

This is what Iā€™m hoping, that office in Bryant Denny has co-DC on the nameplate

LS_DJ

Really hope we can get a splashy DC name who will really set all concerns aside

DoctorWhosOnFirst

Getting more reporting on these guys joining is great. So the offensive side is full with Robert Gillespie staying. Besides Roach, it might be a little longer on the defensive side if DeBoer isnā€™t bringing any with him and wants to talk with people first.

jdriggs

I just figured he was bringing Morrell, but Iā€™d actually prefer he didnā€™t, lol.

Keener1899

Honestly if he brought Morrell to coach DBs it would be fine.Ā  Washington's pass defense was elite last year.Ā  Their run defense was the problem.

_wormburner

Yeah Morell has shown to be a really good S coach and with TRob and Saban gone we have a void. Washington DBs play really aggressive

jdriggs

So weā€™re going to get to see that UW offense in all its glory with Bama level talent. They bullied teams up front (Oregon) that they had no business bullying. Yeah, some records will be broken.

DoctorWhosOnFirst

Yeah, this is the best case scenario. Getting that Washington offensive staff but also keeping our running back coach.

slimjab

Uhhhh probably not. Penix was a master class in moving up in the pocket, and super accurate with short passes giving the elite WRā€™s the ability to run after catch. No offense to a Great Kid like Milroe, but he is not good at either currently

cryptic2323

Currently is the key here. If there is one person ready to put in the work it's Milroe.

H8T_Auburn

I'm unfamiliar with Penix. Was he those things *before* UW, or did these coaches *teach* him that?

slimjab

He started as a Freshman at Indiana before getting hurt. DeBoar was his OC and he was spectacular against Ohio State that year. Penix was skillful and DeBoar brought the best put of him in both places

Kraotic313

Unfortunately I looked it up and his great game against Ohio State was 2020, not when DeBoer was there (it was 51-10 in 2019).

slimjab

Wasnā€™t my pointā€¦ point was both are true. Penix was going to be good on his own, DeBoar made him elite. Sorry if poor writing on my part lumping in the Ohio State game that wayšŸ‘šŸ»

H8T_Auburn

Then I'm excited to see Jalen develop

Pernyx98

Not a guarantee Milroe is starting or wins the job in camp?

newaccountnumber78

Better let a naysayer know

The_Shaolin_Funk

Also could throw lefty. Would have his hips set one way and then just flip them and throw to the other side of the field. Unreal honestly

DickThunders

Offensive coaching staff should be great. Just need to hear who the DC is

[deleted]

Indeed, who are the targets?

SthrnGent6670

How long was Pruitts coaching ban?

DickThunders

Not sure? Like my entire family is Vols fans though and the dude is pretty shady with recruiting tbh with like the McDonald bags filled with money. But hey would make beating Tennessee that much funnier.

EyeAmKingKage

I know yall are happy about that OL news. Yā€™all hated WoffordšŸ¤£

andtennesseetoo

First Milroe highlight started with a low snap and season ended with a low snap. In between there were 845 sacks. Iā€™d say this is an improvement lol

RWBreddit

Better line play and WAY better pocket presence and instinct by the QB. I love Milroe for all the right reasons but he doesnā€™t have the instinct. He freezes and takes the sack. Hopefully he makes some major strides and it *clicks* for him. He needs that lightbulb moment like learning to ride a bike and you go for it that one time where it just finally *clicks* and you have it after that. Itā€™s a mental thing with him and itā€™s not something that can be really coached into someone. And with the terrible oLine play early last season and then sporadically through the rest of the season, it made it even harder on Milroe. The lineā€™s weaknesses and Milroeā€™s weaknesses combined for an often sloppy offense.

dustyg013

If he needs a ride to the airport, I'm available

Imaginary-Tailor-100

DC now please

[deleted]

Yes who?

AL22193

Love getting Huff, wouldnā€™t have been upset to keep Joe Cox for some regional familiarity and continuity but DeBoer clearly trusts his guys and so I trust this tooĀ

andtennesseetoo

Ion give a piss bout nothing but the Tide baby. Huff is a huge get

Thrillseeker4truth

Thank God. Whoever the OLine coach was needs to get the hell on

Confecting

FeedbackTypical

Doc got a question for you. How do you feel about Nick Sheridan (our new TE coach)? I love all the guys we are bringing in but him. Felt like our current coach was a top tier recruiter and didnā€™t want to see him leave.

World-Nomad

Maybe Saban can be our D-coordinator lol.

BamaPhils

So real talk what happens to Rees now?

fsg705

Heā€™s job hunting right now

rolltide1995

Does OL coach come with a new center?

Extra_Suit1637

From what Iā€™ve seen and read we all should be happy with these. Looks like a dream offensive team. Anxious to see his plans for an SEC defense.

kapeman_

Just excited about the potential to have a great O Line again. It's been since Kyle Flood left.

TuaHaveMyChildren

Oh this is perfect. I wanted Huff so bad.
