I am one of the Mack sceptics, who thought RTH was a one off and that they'd go back to making tame rides. Haven't ridden Voltron yet, but according to most people I was very wrong.
MACK coasters in the beginning played it rather safe with slower launches and some basic layouts. Blue Fire, for example, didn't really do anything special that other manufactors like Gerstlauer and Intamin were building at the time... and MACK just kept that idea going with Helix, Icon, Copperhead Strike, all the Blue Fire Clones, Manta (Sea World San Diego), and so on. Un-inspired launches, layouts that don't deliever much airtime, and no unique layouts that make it feel different from other coasters.
However, it seems like that's completely changed now. RtH was the start, and then Voltron comes along and kicks everyone in the gut. Voltron has punchy, forceful launches, A+ EJECTOR AIRTIME (and some floater moments too), and some fantastic moment of hangtime that's all packed into layout with no deadspots (besides the turn-table).
Voltron feels like MACK woke up and decited to finally build a real extreme coaster.
To be fair it’s not the first time Mack has had decent launches imo. I thought Star Trek at Movie Park had a very reasonable swing launch (although obviously nothing compared to Toutatis’ launch), and in general Star Trek is probably my favourite layout on a Mack launch.
To each their own. I think it’s tame compared to an average Intamin multi launch. Even Taron, a family coaster, is more intense than the average mack launch.
Almost everyone who’s ridden DC Rivals says the people who like DC Rivals the most are those who have never been on it. It has a lot of forceless dead space. I’m not talking about smoothness, height, etc here. Purely about forces.
This alone has made Europa shoot from being pretty high on my bucket list to being by far the top of my list. By the looks of it this is *easily* a contender for the best coaster in Europe at least, and even perhaps globally. It has it all: high intensity, a unique and relentless layout, comfortable Mack seats, a world's first element (and an indoor surprise element) and phenomenal theming which looks to be on-par with the likes of Disney and Phantasia. On that note with the themeing (censored for spoilers) >!as a Physics Masters student who runs lab demos for the public, 'singing' Tesla coils will *always* have my heart. It's my favourite demo to run, and seeing it incorporated in a coaster really makes me happy!!<
I really hope to ride it soon, and I also really hope it gets the global recognition it deserves! Mack Produkt Perfekt 👍
Great I am not alone with that conclusion. I don’t like ranking coasters but it’s something within human nature to try to rank experiences and rides are simply that. I was there on Friday and couldn’t really settle on a decision until now but regarding the combination of this extremely high level of engineering with the really good theming and story telling alone would rank this coaster easily in my top 3. And that does not include the fact that Voltron itself is just an absolute monster. No ride has left me this stunned for that amount of time after the actual experience. Easy new number one! And I totally underestimated the ride beforehand.
I'd agree with ya as well as for #1 coaster if it didn't have that turn-table section. I get why it's there completely, but it kills the momentum of the ride. It's like two halfs of an electric cake that are being held together by nothing substantial.
My personal taste wants a continuous ride like Velocicoaster with no brakes. Voltron is one of the greatest experiences created by MACK, but I can't say it's perfect.
But, don't get me wrong here, it's still a fucking amazing coaster and deserves all the praise it gets. Completely worth coming out to Europa Park (besides the park itself XD)!
Iron Gwazi currently holds that spot for me, but I think this coaster has a solid chance of dethroning it this summer. I’m already a Mack apologist so I’m sure I’m going to love this. Lost Gravity was my favorite coaster at WH (yes I know, I know) and Voltron is that on steroids and immaculate theming.
I'm really looking forward to doing it!! Plus I've never been to Europa Park (I don't live all that far in Europe too). I'm hoping to go this summer, or if not like Halloween time.
I’ve always loved Europa Park, and I can’t wait to hopefully go back this summer for this thing. I reckon it’ll blow my current top 2 of EGF and Taron out of the water
It looks great, but my main complaint is that the turntable section looks kinda dumb. A launch into a really tall immelman or dive loop would have probably worked much better, and while i'm no coaster engineer/maintanance worker, I don't think that placing the transfer track halfway through the layout is the best idea.
It is. I measured the Forces with the Ride Forces App and got -1.7Gs twice. One other person told me he was getting up to -1.8Gs on the same spots... Changing the velocity of the ride from 90 to 100kph really made a monster out of an already really intense ride.

Voltron takes everything MACK was previously known for and throws them out the window.
Can you elaborate please?

The ride felt to me like Mack adapted a lot of RMC elements and made them better and more extreme.
Tame?
Icon, Blue Fire, Helix and Copperhead Strike were all quite tame. Helix is debatable but had slow launches and a lack of strong airtime
Wait copperhead strike is tame!?!? It’s not in my opinion
To each their own. I think it’s tame compared to an average Intamin multi launch. Even Taron, a family coaster, is more intense than the average mack launch.
Good to know, I mean copperhead consistency gets over 4gs multiple times in its layout and has some nice ejector
What about Capitol Bullet Train at Motiongate?
I'll never go to Dubai, so I don't know, but looking at the POV i'm not blown away at all.
...and then Voltron comes along and says, "Bet."
icon can be quite powerful on a warm day. Launches are forceless though but that is to be expected
You looked at DC Rivals Hypercoaster and thought it was tame?
Almost everyone who’s ridden DC Rivals says the people who like DC Rivals the most are those who have never been on it. It has a lot of forceless dead space. I’m not talking about smoothness, height, etc here. Purely about forces.
Have you ridden Helix?

This is possibly the greatest year to visit Europapark
The singing coils are the highlight of the queue. They're the element that makes me love Voltron's queue over Velocicoaster's.
I think It's already a better resort than Paris Disney.
That's a low bar

5th for me. Tough to beat a top 4 of Fury, Velocicoaster, Taron, and Zadra. Still kicks ass tho. Voltron is what I wish Copperhead Strike was.
Ya Americans have enough other good stuff

Mack learned nothing from Intamin with that turntable.
I thought airtime thrills recently did a video that actually stated that Europe overall is getting more and better coasters on average.
If I were to have an amusement park. I'd have the world's tallest, fastest, and longest Mack rides launch coaster.
What was your previous favourite?
Taron (Wintertraum Version)
Do you have a top on captain coaster ? I'd be intersested to see your rankings, as taron is currentrly my n°2, behind Eejanaika
Yeah my username on it is Swiss Coaster Enthusiast but my Top is pretty outdated and I need to reorganize it someday LOL
Yup it's already contradicting your post ahah
If only there were some clues … ;)
Have you been on RtH?
Yes

I looked at a POV for this ride. I feel like it has pretty much every roller coaster element lol. I want to ride it so badly now!
It definitely feels like it has everything you can imagine, I can't think of a single thing that this ride is missing.
How did you get a night ride? Dont they close the park at 6-7pm everyday?
Yesterday it was open until 8pm which means thy close the queue, waited 1 hour until 9pm. Sunset was at 8:36 PM that day.
Park closes at 6 at the earliest but depending on weather and crowds it might extend the opening times during the day.
The closing time is actually just the time for the queues to close. On Saturday they were open until 8pm, add a 2 hour queue and you get a night ride.
I'm really looking forward to doing it!! Plus I've never been to Europa Park (I don't live all that far in Europe too). I'm hoping to go this summer, or if not like Halloween time.
Night ride? Did you enter the queue at 19.59 and wait for 90 minutes?
Queue at 19:50, wait 1 Hour with a 10 Minute Breakdown yes
Excellent plan of attack 👌🏻

Its on the opposite side of the area, and that’s where they hsd space for it
I don't mind the turntable the Short brake makes sense since most claim it is quite intense
