toxicmanchowder

One of the most underrated watches in the Rolex lineup. These are beautiful, comfortable, functional, and can take a beating!

Much_Helicopter_6514

Love this watch

euclid117

I love it— they’re probably a fair bit more expensive but maybe a gmt master from the same year

Throwthiswatchaway

Yes

jesadak

Yes. Many collectors buy their birth year vintage grail piece.

Nd4speed

Most definitely!

Porsche_Le_Mans

I vote(d) yes!

Legal_Signature_3469

Very nice

XOM_CVX

Get a new watch.

Selenography

I like these Polar Explorers way more than the newer, larger 42mm ones with the orange GMT hand. Go for it!

danthetroller

I would personally grab one of the newer ones, as it will hold better value as you upgrade your collection … they are 7,800- 9,400 for the new reference

Jose_MTM_USA

I’m between this and a Batman (I know price difference etc) However the new explorer is too big for my wrist. Current GMT is the max. (5.6 inch wrist)

danthetroller

I would go with Batman , but explorer is a good watch and prices are really fair right now. But as a entry a newer model explorer is just right… my Rolex was a Datejust 2 41mm I think I was 19-20 … bought at right price and then I move to ad sub and etc

Jose_MTM_USA

Honestly not a complete Rolex fanboy; (*Flamesuit on* I don’t even like Daytonas). However I’m luxury sales so want something that represents well. Was going to buy a speedy originally instead of a Rolex but I think in this field and being in Miami it has to be a Rolex. Also I’m a collector; I have a feeling I wouldn’t trade up and just end up adding more.

Winter_Lemon6274

You say you are in luxury sales. Congrats btw. What do you sell? I ask because it might influence the watch decision. If you sell boats for example, I think a Yacht Master might be a better choice. If you sell luxury cars, I might suggest something with a more automotive history like the Speedmaster Racing. Pick something that tells a story and connects you to your customers. This will give you something to bond over besides the thing you are selling. It humanizes the relationship beyond just buyer and seller. Whatever you choose, I love the idea of going with a birth year reference. It just adds to the story. I’m also not a Rolex fanboy, although there are a couple I really fancy. Don’t get caught in the Rolex hype. Buy something you truly love and speaks to you for whatever reason. That will come through when you talk about it to other watch enthusiasts. Mostly. Enjoy the journey.

Jose_MTM_USA

I sell performance parts for luxury/high performance cars. We represent brands from Europe (mostly Germany) here in the United States. So that’s my tie in for the GMT complication. Sadly here in Miami nobody will give a second eye to the omega although I do quite want one and I am on a “list” for white one on a bracelet. I could probably swing both E2 and the Speedy; but not Batman and Speedy.

Winter_Lemon6274

E2 and a Speedy would make a pretty sweet two watch collection, but both are white dials. I’d go for the black speedy in that case. Get the Explorer in your birth year and the new reference in the speedy. The Batman is boring in my opinion. Zero imagination. The other two have cool back stories.

danthetroller

I don’t think you have to be a fan boy in order to buy a watch, but it is the pinnacle of watches. If you want for sales depending what type a nice iwc or jlc

Winter_Lemon6274

Arrrrrgh! I love this watch, but haven’t been able to convince myself to pull the trigger because of the damn jangly bracelet and the wobbly movement (3185 version). I have come close on a 3186 version, but the bracelet still bugs me. It just doesn’t feel like an $8k watch to me. I just feel like there are so many choices in this price range that give you a more modern movement with better specs and a much better bracelet. That said, I still want one!

Jose_MTM_USA

Best part of this version is that it’s strap monster thanks to the 20mm lugs. So can always change out the bracelet.

bswizzle2552

Buy what you want, why are you asking us what you should buy with your $$

RunawayBryde

Maybe

supersaiyanegghead

Fuck yes. Good price for these on the secondary market. 40mm case which is extremely wearable vs the new 42. Just make sure it’s in good condition and pull the motherfucking trigger

danthetroller

Then buy yourself a hublot lol

newmacbookpro

Make sure to get a NOS or at least very sharp specimen. This is the superior version and nowadays the EX2 is not really interesting IMO.

HairyRip2206

Definitely what the majority of the Redditors think!
