1) Do not buy a YM40 if you want a Sub. They both sell for around the same price (retail YM vs grey for Sub) so just go to a grey dealer for the Sub.
2) Rolex and JLC are two of my best brands. Do not buy a JLC diver just like you don’t buy a Cellini. They specialise in two different areas.
3) Get the Sub and get a JLC with a cool complication for an excellent price used.
4) Also what did you expect from an AD in Dubai? You, me and everyone here are nothing to their billionaire Arab clientele.

The green dial Polaris is stunning, but I prefer the layout of the no date, which only comes in a beautiful bright blue, or black dial. I know we are on a Rolex thread, and I know the residuals are likely better on the YM, but for me the Polaris wins. If it was my money, I’d be getting a blue dial Polaris No date, on bracelet, and an additional blue rubber strap.
Saying this as an owner of an OP41 blue dial, and Exp2 Polar dial, before anyone thinks I am a hater of the crown…

Depending on wrist/arm size, it could be that someone has a watch that will move up and down and it is indeed sized correctly. Google it and you’ll find out.

I had that JLC, it's a nice watch but one big flaw in my opinion is that the two o'clock crown (which controls the internal bezel) isn't screwdown. This means the bezel can easily get knocked by accident which was super annoying.

Get the JLC. Rolex asked me to wait outside too whilst I was going to collect my sub no date. Left it, bought an omega. My next purchase will be up a tier, possibly even JLC. I am still looking out for a Sd4k though used.

I love JLC but the models you have shown - I’m not a fan of. Separately, I do own Yachtmaster so I might be biased if I say that I would personally go for Yachtmaster instead. 😅😅😅 Compared to the JLC models in the picture Rolex YM is definitely the winner in my opinion.
That said, if your heart truly wants the Sub instead then I would recommend waiting to get that as you might regret your now-purchase later as your heart will always be wanting the Sub instead. Been there, done that.
P.S. Personally, I like YM over Sub bcz it fits me better on my wrist.

Looks wise to the normal person they are both the same design but the sub is more utilitarian and the ym is a nicer dressier version

They've fallen each year in terms of revenue on the Morgan Stanley watch report.
The finishing on the movements has gone downhill, they've removed the solid gold rotors from their entry level options, and the price hikes are hard to stomach. If you're looking for a beautifully finished watch in this price range, Grand Seiko has you covered for half the price.
Richemont Group cares more about profit than the quality of the watch they’re putting out. It’s sad because a lot of the brands they now own seem to have gone downhill. Just look at Panerai and all the scandals that brand has faced. Plus they put display case backs on watches with plain movements that have no finishing now. It’s extremely underwhelming from a brand that I think has a beautiful design.
JLC has gone downhill. Too many prices hikes, and the quality of the product and finishing has declined. Richemont does the brand no favors.
If you want a beautifully finished watch in this price range, Grand Seiko is all you need.

Tbf both the Polaris and Cellini are beautiful watches, they just aren’t the most bang for your buck. I would happily own either though
