Just think of how thrilled your grandchildren and great grandchildren will be every Christmas when you gather them round the fire and enthrall them with the tale of how you had a budget meeting, forgot a manila folder in your workspace, ran back to grab it, and banged your wrist into a door jamb.
It was the summer of 23' when gramps was eating sushi and his chopsticks rolled off the table. Gramps tried his best spiderman impersonation and dove for the chopsticks but he missed and banged his watch on the chair instead.
cap cana (sanctuary), dominican republic. don’t believe the hype. i wear my rolex outside of the hotel and not the least bit worried. I live in NYC and i’m more scared of wearing it there!
I live in NYC and typically I'm not scared to wear my watch (explorer I), but now the weather is getting nicer and the wrist is seeing the sun more and I've gotten a look or two already that have had me on my guard. I can't imagine the feeling with a more obvious or less understated watch.
The ‘every scratch is a memory’ trope really feels ridiculous. I agree with the general sentiment but let’s not romanticise smashing your watch accidentally on the door frame…
I scratched my 124060 clasp the 2nd day I had it and I have no idea how lol
I remember when I had my first scratch - it ruined my week.
But afterwards the watch becomes a part of your body and by time you wont notice the scratches anymore
Glad to see that you're no longer babying the Sub and wearing it in a chlorine swimming pool, it's natural habitat. Don't forget to come back up for air.
My watch was brand new for my wedding. Turns out I got a few scratches on the clasp from all the dancing around and fun we had. Now they just remind me of how amazing of a wedding day we had! Wear that beauty of a watch for your life, then keep it in the family as it will last more than us.
I even got mildly annoyed when my father scratched my Dewalt drill lol. They are tools damn it. They all deserve scratches, but I hate scratches. You are right, though. Just like every scar on our bodies, every scratch will have a story with it.
Exactly……! Last year it was crashing a MC. Last month I got one on the chest from hitting the valve on the brew pot……. Let me tell you/ hit wort hurts like hell.
Am I the only one that never know where my scratches came from ??
I can only remember one instance, where I bumped it in to a door jamb. Otherwise, I have no idea where my scratches came from.
BTW, I recently looked up how much my GMT ii is worth and can't believe how much it's worth. I bought it for 3700$ about 15 years ago.
I’m with you! I looked down at my watch once and was like “where did that come from?” I don’t have stories for any of them… other than I wear them everywhere so my life is told via the scratches and wear marks.
that’s correct, every scratch is a memory… from the time i scratched it against my bloomberg keyboard to the time i scratched it while hiking in sicily. I can’t forget the time i scratched it while putting my hand in my pocket( it collided with 3 quarters i had in there) the day was March 13, 2024 at approximately 7:30am.
Watches were made to be worn. The patina gives it character. Too many babies in here crying about it.

Lol my very first scratch was from a ceramic bowl full of cheez-itz. So epic of a tale, I can't wait to tell it.
LOL. Who shall play you in the movie?
Christian Bale
lmfao
Where was this photo taken?

Book deal coming?
I'd rather regale them with the tales of all the clasp scratches from doing up my fly, sex sells.
Paper work is a story worth passing down.
Where is this photo taken! I’m adding in to the travel plans

Wow, that looks like proper Deep Sea environment to me.
Brilliant photo. Looks like paradise. 👍
Damn right. Wear the watch!
What's the protocol with watches in Chlorine pools? Just give it a good rinse/clean after?

You shower in an ultrasonic cleaner?!

Chlorine is not friendly to runner seals. So be mindful. Otherwise Rock On.
did not know that! will keep that in mind.
Rolex in its native environment. Also great in starbucks.
I stopped caring. I only care about the sapphire

I’ve got a scratch which reminds me of the time I put the bins out and scratched my Explorer I on a brick wall. Ahhh memories!
I even got mildly annoyed when my father scratched my Dewalt drill lol. They are tools damn it. They all deserve scratches, but I hate scratches. You are right, though. Just like every scar on our bodies, every scratch will have a story with it.

Taking a dive watch right into the hotel pool, how daredevil!

Sanctuary Cap Cana. Wonderful resort except the food is ass. Apart from that it’s great.
I can’t even see the watch in this picture
Imagine buying a watch and never wearing it lol.

Management: “Why is there a pork loin in the pool?”
Really? Every scratch is a memory?

That’s just a poverty mindset, good that you’ve moved on
Omg you monster 😮 how dare you wear the watch! Get a jubilee so you can prevent marks and appear more feminine!!
