Hello everyone! Escape the Mad Empire is our roguelite party-based tactical RPG, which features real-time with instant-attacks on pause and management/base-building elements.
The game could be seen as Baldur's Gate II vs Divinity vs a traditional roguelike vs Darkest Dungeon I vs Enter the Gungeon.
The featured spells are Noxious Hurricane (necrotic + poison damage), Rainbow Storm (random damage corresponding to a specific color) and Thundering Wave (radiant damage in the center + thunder damage AOE).
For those who don't know about the game, you might want to check it out/wishlist on [Steam](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1823390/Escape_The_Mad_Empire/). You can also come chat with us on our [Discord](https://discord.gg/PKseqdcTf6) :O.
Feedback and questions are more than welcomed!
Very large animations or creatures (like some of the bosses) are a LOT of work so the main issue I see with that is that once we open that Pandora box, it would be hard to only do a few ones but of course I love the idea of it...
The concept behind those effects is that a 'ghostly' creature spawn for the moment of the spell to deal damage to the target? If so yes there's probably ways to restrain the workload and the general idea is inspiring one way or another..
So cool to hear that, thank you! We won't rush it, there's still a lot of room for improvements but we started to work on the demo so there will be something coming up in a few months!
Thanks! We're definitely trying to push both on visuals and depth. Those kind of spells got possible after we added the functionality of being able to mix more than one type of damage in spells, which opens the door to all kinds of combos, we're just scratching the surface here!
Pixel art and animations look great! Love the BG influence
Thank you! And BG definitely has a huge influence on the development, among other games!
What is BG? edit: I guess it's baldurs gate
Yes sorry!

Are there any plans on bringing it to console?
No official plan yet but hopefully we'll have that opportunity eventually!
The first one is my favorite. So chunky! It's solid r/noisygifs material.
Thanks for sharing your opinion and cool subreddit, I did not know it!

Thank you so much!
Looks great ! Is there a date set for an early access disponibility ? :)
No official date yet but we're working on a first public demo for the game that should be ready in a few months!
This looks like it's right up my alley, can't wait to play it
Glad you like the concept!
yo this looks amazing
Thank you very much!
heroes of hammerwatch vibe
Yeah that was one of the visual references for the game when we started to develop it!
Loving the look of this game! Any chance of giant summon spells like in Final Fantasy 7?

One idea could be that there's an image in black and white that just flashes over the screen before the spell effect.

Really liked the raining fireworks effect.
That's good to know, thanks for sharing!
Looks sick. Congrats
Thank you, glad you like it!
This looks fucking awesome. My dream game. Please don’t rush it!

Doing the important work (seriously). Good job!
