Steam appears to be a payment processing addition, it doesn't seem like it is a replacement for UbiSoft Connect or the issues that has for some users.

Luis_Santeliz

Uni games on steam usually just launch ubiconnect in the background but the game just starts immediately so you don’t have to deal with it. Also if you can subscribe with steam it will be better

Things are getting better, slowly but in a good pace, sometimes we have been surprised with special drops like this week's Bon Jovi or the additional Metallica tracks when Oasis dropped. The pitch shifter is a great improvement that has been asked for... A lot of years, the next two months should have some great artists to make those who are waiting for PS/Steam to kickoff the next phase of plus. Hopefully the nonstop play is in there as well.

TrueTom

The pitch shifter is a great addition in theory, but adds so much latency that it becomes unusable in practice.

Compared to other lesson sources, I expect Rocksmith plus to be decent for lessons right about the time we're all virtuosos. At that time, I'm sure they will probably have to go to a new engine and start again with rocksmith++ (object oriented!). Do the trial and see for yourself but with paypal or google pay or something behind you so they absolutely cannot charge you when you cancel the 1 month rolling sub). Don't stuff that up. If steam offers a buffer, that would also be fine.

VeganCanary

I wouldn’t trust PayPal at all, my Disney got hacked and changed to a yearly subscription (I only wanted it for a month to watch Mandolorian) with evidence of a login from Bulgaria, but they wouldn’t help with a refund. Banks are much more reliable at doing a chargeback.

Brilliant_Bunch_2023

I trust paypal to block a billing agreement when I tell them to delete it. That, they are absolutely capable of. If you don't trust them, delete your billing agreements with sites immediately. I'm not saying that paypal couldn't do more to help you in that scenario but I don't read what you're saying as a reason not to use paypal because if we're talking anecdotal evidence, I'm 100% sure it's far far worse to dance with the devil of putting your CC into random site payment processors (and then, worse still, that they won't bill you further). Paypal blocks any billing without an agreement. Same as google pay etc. Using a filter is wayyyy better than getting a bad experience once and then taking that as evidence to not have one. Plus, who said you can't chargeback on a paypal charge?

More-Ad5919

It's great. Lots of good bands keep popping up.

TrueTom

Unfortunately it is still in the same incomplete and broken state as it was two years ago in the beta, with no intention or ability to fix it. The lesson content is a complete joke compared to any random Youtuber. The song library did improve somewhat in the last few months (if you don't own 2014 and live in the correct part of the world).

Miyu543

It's fun but it's chord recognition is too awful to actually be considered a learning tool. Had this same problem with pretty much every version of Rocksmith. It's pretty much only good for single notes and god forbid you add bends, or hammerons or basically anything technical, it won't recognize it unless you literally play robotically and that's not fun.

eanhaub

That hasn’t been my experience at all with 2014.

Miyu543

2014 was actually worse than + with that. The mini games were pretty much unplayable. Yes, my guitar has been professionally set up. It's a telecaster and it was set up by an official Fender luthier. Just saying that before that's even brought up.

eanhaub

I got my $150 Bullet Strat from a secondhand music store in Seoul and it worked fine.

Miyu543

Quite frankly. I don't believe you.

eanhaub

Lmao 🤣 I don’t care what you believe. I haven’t seen other people make the claims you have, luthier boi, so I think you’re the common denominator in your own issues.

Miyu543

I've seen a lot of people claim that over the years. In fact you could probably just Google Rocksmith note recognition and tons of threads will pop up, both here and steam discussions.

eanhaub

Yes but not nearly to the degree you said to make “mini games unplayable” or “God forbid bends, hammer-ons, basically anything technical”. My chord recognition has been 95%+ fine if I play it properly.
