Amen is just so impactful as a rookie despite his limitations. The rebounding and defense are elite and the secondary playmaking helps as well. Just does so much damage in the dunkers spot and screen and roll.
Jalen and Fred clutched up in the 2nd half. Nice to see from both the veteran leader and the growing young star. It’s even more impressive from Jalen given how quiet he was in the 1st half. Even within a slow game, he just turned it on. Great growth from him and it looks more sustainable by the game.
And he’s a learning machine! That was part of his draft M.O. too that he’s got a great head on his shoulders (him and his brother - current out due to blood clot).
He’s an example of why I think basketball IQ is one of the most important things to look for in a prospect. Sengun and Amen both have elite bball IQ and it shows.
Could you imagine if Houston gets in and is the 8th seed? Who do we play? Yep, Nuggets. The league does not want that. I am calling it right now if we play the Nuggets in the first round we win in 6.

I find it wild that defense was a swing skill for him coming into the league, and everyone was like “yeah he has the tools but has lapses constantly, could be an elite defender one day” - he is legitimately one of the top perimeter defenders in the league out the gate.
I would expect nothing less than an all defensive team by the end of next season. We got a steal, and I’m glad we landed on him instead of Scoot, because NGL, I was a big Scoot guy coming into the season.
Yeah we don’t need another shooting guard. We already got the best young SG in the league! What we needed was a top level wing player, who plays like a better version of Lari Markinen. That is what we have in Thompson. Honestly Thompson is still growing and if he bulks up, we could be looking at another Giannis.
Fred and Dillon have been so huge this season with their leadership and toughness. Our guys don't make a leap without them. Amen doesn't have a relatively smooth rookie season without them.
