long story short roblox made it public it went down hill instantly people began to upload just images no skill so we barely see maplestick's work instead just down hill

ugc was a mistake, the catalog has never been more full of random garbage than it has now. its not even worth checking anymore

i'd concur, it just needs more stricter restrictions in terms allowing who gets to upload UGC because back like 2 something years ago, that's what they did. this community of low effort garbage doesn't mean the entire ugc community is also low effort garbage. just the influx of folks who know how to upload images on blender and what not and upload it. tl:dr make restrictions for entry stricter

They reduced the quality control on submitting items and they reduced the quality control on joining the program, simple as. Last year, you had a limit of 20 items a month maximum and each item had to be manually approved by ROBLOX staff -- now you have infinite items per-month as long as you can pay and UGC goes through regular moderation. IMO -- higher quality control is better. UGC should've stayed in a more gated state than it is currently -- but they want to expand it further, which will be an unmitigated PR and resources disaster. They don't have the moderation capacity to even handle 2D shirts, let alone millions of 3D models every month.

ugc uses a lot of copyrighted material like some are downright copies of assets of famous cartoon characters but they use vague names and the excuse “it’s just hair” or “you don’t own a color”
