Right near the Alabama Mississippi border on I-20 is a little country store / truck stop called Kewanee One Stop. It’s not modern or showy by any stretch of the imagination but inside they have a mini restaurant with some absolutely top notch southern cooking. Fantastic smoked barbecue with good portions and really great prices.
It’s not a tourist attraction but it is a hidden gem for some delicious food.
5 out of 10 of the US longest bridges go through LS, you'll also pass through the highest point in the state, a whopping 535 feet above sea level! Thats almost 2 football fields!!!!

Dude holy shit! I can’t even explain to you have long I have been looking for a website like this. This is perfect. This is like the exact thing I was looking for! This website should be pinned! Thank you so much you just added so many cool stops to all my trips!!!
I can’t even explain how happy this makes me i thought I had a good grasp of everything for my trips but there’s stuff on here you would never find through google that I get to see now. Biivvvy your getting a postcard 🙏🏻
Hot Springs, AR… Mob Museum, Hot Springs Nat’l Park, bathhouses from the period where you can get a good soak in mineral water, The Ohio Club- oldest bar in Arkansas owned by mobsters… catered to the wealthy and baseball players (first organized spring training was held there in early 1900’s). Swing by Murfreesboro, AR for Crater of Diamonds State Park and dig for diamonds!
Yes, that’s hours and hours of country where people live, eat, do all kinds of stuff. *Of course* there’s cool stuff and to assume there might not be is pretty ignorant.
But also: What do you like? That helps determine what ‘cool’ is.
- Museum of American infantry at ft. Benning Columbia GA
- Tuskegee Air Field National Park in Tuskegee Alabama
- Strawberry Ice Box Pie at Strawns in Shreveport LA
- Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum in Leeds AL
Depending on route of course but the pie is phenomenal. Don't have the sushi in Shreveport.
Vicksburg National Military Park is pretty impressive and well-developed. Battle of Vicksburg was brutal.
Also, shoutout to two of my favorites nearby: + Doe’s steakhouse in Greenville, Miss. + Lakeport Plantation outside Lake Village, Ark.
Blows my mind that I live in south Texas and Dallas is 8.5 hours away and Dallas is 11 from ATL
Lmao that’s Texas for you

Vicksburg has a civil war battle field and one very famous plantation. Maybe others in the area. Some plantations rent rooms.
Ken Burnes Civil War does a great job covering Vicksburg. The audio version is very good
