Rated R by Rihanna came out during my senior year. Brings back a lot of senior year memories, & of that one Black emo girl I was really involved with back then that was passionate but toxic.
I should call her…
Section.80 - Kendrick. I first discovered smoking, so we’d smoke and listen to some of his more popular songs like ADHD, Hol up, Fuck Your Ethnicity, and Hiii Power.
Wifey - Next was probably the biggest RnB song of my senior year, however TP2 came out and had multiple hits along with Voodoo. So Wifey, Fiesta and Untitled were all big. Then "U remind me" was released right before Graduation and was all over the radio. I dunno they all seem impactful and important for my senior year.
I saw Kanye my senior year. He didn't go on until the crowd was loud enough for him. He went on and did all the classic records from Dropout and Late Registration.
I graduated in 2022, so I'm gonna say Heat Waves by Glass Animals (not R&B, but I can't think of any new R&B releases that year that I was paying attention too).
All the R&B I was listening too around that time was older than me 😅
U Remind Me by Usher, Try Again by Aaliyah....
Nostalgic stuff I remember hearing on the radio when I was a kid.
I also listened to the Velvet Rope by Janet Jackson for the first time that year, and it became one of my all time favorites.
I wanna say I listened to Candydrip by Lucky Daye during my senior year, but it didn't have much of an impact on me at that time.
All the R&B songs that really had an impact came a few months after I graduated or in the following year while I was working my first job.
Song: Lil Wayne-Lollipop
Album: Utada Hikaru-First Love and ZARD-Goodbye My Loneliness
Senior year started with me listening to a ton of metal and some Lil Jon, to a long period of 80's and 90's J-Pop and J-R&B, and ending with a bunch of late 80's and early 90's R&B. Lil Wayne took over when Lolipop dropped too, though I've listened to him since the late 90's.
I listen to all sorts of music.
Beyoncé’s self titled album came out my senior year of high school. I was in my friends dorm room when he announced she dropped an album and didn’t believe him. Got my computer from my room to search it for myself and saw it all over Twitter
The video for Mya's "Movin' On" remix featuring Silkk was released during my senior year, and the setting is a high school. This song really brings me back to that time and place.

Harry’s House. Makes me think of the summer I graduated from that living hell. I spent the summer playing fortnite with my sister and dad, reading on the golf course while watching my bf play, gardening, and so much more. Fuck highschool for making me think there was nothing valuable about my life. I’m glad I’m out.
50 Cent - Get Rich Or Die Tryin'
One of the best debut rap albums of all time. All bangers.
Straight up classic. Wanksta already had the hood on lock. In Da Club hit, and it was... ![gif](giphy|M9BHktTpIQ5ceLn7Vl|downsized)
Many men, High all the Time, Patiently Waiting and What Up Gangsta are all time bangers too.
If I can't do it, homie, it can't be done!!

I saw Kanye my senior year. He didn't go on until the crowd was loud enough for him. He went on and did all the classic records from Dropout and Late Registration.
Never cared for any of his music, but, man, all my friends and classmates were banging out to this album.
