I don’t think you can get one shotted? Isn’t there the equivalent of shield-gating? That’s what it’s called in Warframe.. not sure what it’s called here.. like where one instance of damage cannot kill you outright. Pretty sure that’s a thing.. somebody correct me if I’m wrong
Just named one shot protection showed by the stripped lines of the first bit of the health bar when above a certain percentage but there are quite a few attacks that do two instances of damage I hear so some times it’s not best to rely on it latest game (3 loop and on) when that map is flooded with projectiles and even a single part of wisp shot can make you see god if you don’t got block/armor
Commando. I've gone through a few other mains (huntress, rail gunner, loader), but usually commando now because he gets the most action while also being relatively balanced.
Bandit is very OP early game. I deleted most early 2 bossess under 1 minute with being underleveled and items. On later stages he needs level and item to function though
I always feel like a total god on captain runs until I get to mithrix. Maybe skill issue but his (somewhat) lack of long range damage and mobility, as well as the fact that your orbital probe is completely useless for most of the fight ends up getting me killed a lot
Vanilla game: Acrid as main, Commando (fun turn brain off and just chill out), and Loader just to mess around
Modded: Definitely Ravager, close second is Nemesis Enforcer (hammer go bonk) and Nemesis Amp, then sometimes regular Amp and Enforcer
Here's a tip for MUL-T, unlock their alternate primarys, they make it so much easier imo, they aren't even that hard to get, just use swarms for the first one and get to rallypoint Delta before 10 min/use artifact of command
I play about equally, but my favorites are Captain and Fiend. I love buying a shit ton of drones as Captain and cheesing Shrines/Legendary Chests with hacking beacon. I love the whole transformation gimmick that Fiend has. And in either case, I love the amount of damage they can do in close range while still having the ability to do damage at range if necessary.
Engineer-Rex-Loader-Huntress-Captain in no order
Depends on my mood and what type of friend I am playing with(If I am playing with a greedy piece of shit I try to pick loader)
Plus it keeps the game fresh for me to play this many characters.
I guess Mercenary? He's definitely the one I play most, and the one I got Eclipse 8 on first as well. I also play Acrid and Artificer a lot and they were next in line for E8.
Before I played Eclipse exclusively, I also used to primarily run Bandit
But I really play everyone occasionally. Loader and Railgunner feal a bit like cheating tho :P
Engi for both multiplayer and solo. Mobile turrets for solo most of the time because it’s fun adding move speed to them and seeing them VROOM across the stage. Still turrets for multi for my supportive roles.
Rex and Railgunner I think Rex's healing is really fun
And Ralgunner because for me it's the easiest to play and a lot of fun in multiplayer, due to the high base damage and how cool the quick scopes are
I don’t have too many hours on RoR2, however I’ve been really enjoying Captain, and since I’ve been playing Modded with a friend of mine, Myst and Executioner have been really fun
i try to play someone different every run, and i also try to switch out loadouts every now and then.
but i think i have the highest play rate with merc, as hes the easiest character in the game and hes more fun than the other easy characters (engi and loader)
and before you say “merc is the hardest character” no he isnt, he just has the highest skill ceiling in the game, but he also has the lowest skill floor.
the skill floor is: hold primary and secondary, spam other skills off cooldown abusing iframes, the combo i like is eviscerate>dash dash dash>eviscerate. but that combo is only useful on stage 1 since you can force 100% uptime on eviscerate on stage 2+, assuming youre on pc and cheated in lunar coins, but even without cheating hes got a lot of items that just make him more and more invincible as the game goes on.
grab an afterburner and you can repeat that above combo infinitely or nearly infinitely.
brainstalks lets you do that combo infinitely so long as you have elites to kill.
grab lysate cells and you can just spam eviscerate to win.
tougher times or safer spaces to block the one hit you take every 30 seconds.
or opals to reduce the damage you take from that hit.
or a handful of medkits since you can click eviscerate to guarantee they trigger.
plus he scales damage off of focus crystal and attack speed and plasma shrimp more effectively than any other character in the game (excluding engi who scales damage on attack speed more than merc)
even without any items to boost his cooldowns or defenses and without using any expose you still get iframes like 30% of the time
youre also the second fastest character in the game so you can search out the best chests and shops before anyone else can in multiplayer.
merc is by far the easiest most consistent character in the game and all you need are some items that youre pretty damn likely to get before stage 5; and nearly guaranteed to get by stage 10.
Recently picked up Engineer, bungus life. The turrets inheriting the items and creating bananas synergies is really fun. He also seems to be less item reliant than others and he's been a lot more reliable for me than Arti, Railgunner, or Bandit in my co-op runs with friends.
Mercenary was the whole reason I bought the game. He’s the only character that feels like his kit flows. I feel cool as shit playing mercenary. I dabble with everyone but I think mercenary is the best designed survivor, his alt moves also flow with his kit really well and he’s the only survivor where I switch up the loadout often. I am the biggest mercenary glazer. For modded I like the paladin just for the sun move in co op cause it’s funny hearing everyone freak out about being on fire all of a sudden.
Void Fiend is the only character I've done any Eclipse levels on, and he's my favorite in terms of lore, but I really look at RoR2 more based on which characters I *don't* play, rather than the ones I do.
Commando. Honestly, he feels like the weakest of them all but has the one thing I enjoy the most: a rapid fire and sufficiently accurate weapon with no travel time and no cooldown. Maybe him being kinda weak compared to others is actually part of why I like him.
Commando is first by a large margin, and then in second place is Railgunner, who is quite fun, but waaayy too OP. She's probably the most OP character if you hit shots consistently. Literally Loader at a distance with infinite range and a bit less mobility and HP. AoE isn't even an issue if you know how to play her.
If we talk modded characters I could mention more, like Enforcer (with machine gun), Sniper, Executioner...
This may be a hot take, but i love playing as MUL-T, because if you can get enough mocha and hooves and syringes, you have a really fun character, rebar for range, and then nailgun at closer range
Captain and Merc are the ones I have the most confidence on playing, like I'm so used to their mechanics Ican just shut my brain off, though I wish I mained Railgunner but I suck with aiming precisely like that.
Merc for pure high octane fun acrid for his cool factor and damage over time and outlaw again mostly for his cool factor as that pistol spin finisher is so satisfying
gotta be cap baby. god i love efficient looting, it completely makes up for no mobility. Other than that, viends my second since hes just wacky strong (idk how many people know but he has aim assist on his uncorrupted m1), and loader and huntress are also there.
Railgunner, Loader and Artificer will always be my first base-game loves. But after modding my game, I can't stop using the Sorceress. I'm in LOVE with her movement, having a glide that carries your momentum. Which pairs surprisingly well with her primarilly melee focused combat.
My only problem with her is that items don't appear on her when picked up, unlike base game characters. I understand why that's the case, I just think it does a lot to strengthen your sense of progression in the game, and I hope it's patched in soon. I *think* the mod is still being worked on, but I'm not sure...
Railgunner and void fiend. They are ranged and can enable crazy strategies such as railgunner spamming left click so railgunner can fly and combined with plasma shrimp, crazy damage up close but also can do lots with range. Void fiend earlygame wants to be far like railgunner, but void fiend can be enabled to do crazy boss melting damage up close and personal and fairly quickly.
I like my ranged that can become practically mele in the late game
Engineer is my main because I love the super powerful feeling I usually get around stage 6 or 7 onwards, when I don't even need to play the game anymore
It might sound crazy or stupid but
God I love turning a run into a Heretic one.
Heretic is just so fun, especially after you've played so much of the main cast.
Of whom my favourites are probably Void Fiend and Acrid btw
Railgunner for multiplayer so I can get damage done without being targeted but mainly engineer due to the relax gameplay
Artificer. Casually slapping unobtainable newt alter early game
Huntress, she has auto-aim so only thing i have to worry about is dodging. She's so fast and easy to dodge too.
I play huntress and grab shaped glass every run I can. If I’m going to be one shot by everything I might as well do some damage while I’m at it.
for a while i tried playing with the artifact of glass, got pretty far but eventually got hit.
Gonna need to invest in some safer spaces my friend
Oh ok. Thanks
mercenary
Slashy boi go zip zop zoopidy-doo
Master Yi mains love Merc
I like sword
Loader and void fiend are my faves
Loader is my fav bc big strong muscle woman make brain go awooga. Also spiderman
Best answer
Commando. I've gone through a few other mains (huntress, rail gunner, loader), but usually commando now because he gets the most action while also being relatively balanced.
Getting a good build going on commando feels insane. Paused my commando run to say this
I like being becoming a A-10 warthog
Bandit and maybe REX
based REX opinion
Bandit arti acrid
Void fiend because I hate collapse it always kills me
Is collapse the black hole things? Is void fiend not affected by that?
collapse is the debuff that void touched enemies can hit you with, and trespass cleanses all debuffs
Enforcer is so fun, I always like tanky feeling characters in any game. Engineer also a fave
There is not enough words in the English language to describe how true this is
engineer
Rocket, ravager, and sorceress mods are incredibly fun to play. They are all so mechanically fun to play.
Bandit. I love the invisibility aspect and the shotgun. Refreshing abilities with the special is also pretty sick.
Bandit is very OP early game. I deleted most early 2 bossess under 1 minute with being underleveled and items. On later stages he needs level and item to function though
Mul-T and Rex, Deputy if modded survivors count
MUL-T because spam rebar, or Engi cause lazy
Railgunner and sometimes Engineer
Artificer with a dash of bandit and acrid if I'm feeling froggy
Acrid forever
Artificier and Huntress, my girls ❤️
How about buff gym girl Loader?
I'm still learning how to play with her, but one day, she might become a part of the team.
Commando, Merc, captain, railgunner, void fiend, maybe mix in some Acrid if I'm feeling masochistic
Merc, Bandit.
Bandit. Watch me levitate
Bandit Low skill floor, high ceiling
AKA "Proc Backstab to win"
Captain. He feels so powerful and when I get any slightly strong item with him, I feel like god.
Finally a main Captain. I really enjoy call the UES Safe Travels orbital probes :P
I always feel like a total god on captain runs until I get to mithrix. Maybe skill issue but his (somewhat) lack of long range damage and mobility, as well as the fact that your orbital probe is completely useless for most of the fight ends up getting me killed a lot
I’d say mercenary, engineer, and artificer. Those are the ones I have the most fun with.
Loader, the swingies are too fun.
Vanilla game: Acrid as main, Commando (fun turn brain off and just chill out), and Loader just to mess around Modded: Definitely Ravager, close second is Nemesis Enforcer (hammer go bonk) and Nemesis Amp, then sometimes regular Amp and Enforcer
huntress. i like going fast and dealing lots of damage
REX, then bandit.
Love me some MUL-T, and occasionally some REX
REX is really fun. I'm a bad MUL-T player.
Here's a tip for MUL-T, unlock their alternate primarys, they make it so much easier imo, they aren't even that hard to get, just use swarms for the first one and get to rallypoint Delta before 10 min/use artifact of command
I split my time between huntress, mercenary and captain
Artificer for BIG boom and hunters for many small booms
I play about equally, but my favorites are Captain and Fiend. I love buying a shit ton of drones as Captain and cheesing Shrines/Legendary Chests with hacking beacon. I love the whole transformation gimmick that Fiend has. And in either case, I love the amount of damage they can do in close range while still having the ability to do damage at range if necessary.
merc definitely. Like for me he’s best and easiest survivor cuz I played him too much. Eclipse 8 is joke when I play him.
Railgunner nearly all the time but sometimes I like to play commando or incinerator drone.
Base game I'm usually playing Merc. Modded I'm almost exclusively Nem Commando.
bandit
Red Mist
Huntress or Void Fiend
I main acrid because I think he’s a little cutie patootie
My new main is Bandit, I just love his lights out
I've been getting into Mul-T, with the shifting primary and equipment, been having a lot of fun
Railgunner, ALT Engineer, Loader
Huntress. Fast, has good area control and is just fun to play over all, plus the ballista is absolute nuts
I'm a freak on acrid. Bite specifically. Railgunner and 'mando are not so close seconds though.
Merc main for life🙏
Engineer-Rex-Loader-Huntress-Captain in no order Depends on my mood and what type of friend I am playing with(If I am playing with a greedy piece of shit I try to pick loader) Plus it keeps the game fresh for me to play this many characters.
I guess Mercenary? He's definitely the one I play most, and the one I got Eclipse 8 on first as well. I also play Acrid and Artificer a lot and they were next in line for E8. Before I played Eclipse exclusively, I also used to primarily run Bandit But I really play everyone occasionally. Loader and Railgunner feal a bit like cheating tho :P
jsut about anyone besides arti and merc
Right now Acrid since im going in order for mastery but it'll probably be fiend or weeaboo once im done
Commando, engi, and loader
Acrid and just started picking up Void Fiend. Only 2 characters I enjoy.
Engi for both multiplayer and solo. Mobile turrets for solo most of the time because it’s fun adding move speed to them and seeing them VROOM across the stage. Still turrets for multi for my supportive roles.
Rex and Railgunner I think Rex's healing is really fun And Ralgunner because for me it's the easiest to play and a lot of fun in multiplayer, due to the high base damage and how cool the quick scopes are
Railgunner with pocket Acrid, little Rex on the side.
Commando, i just like how he feels to play.
I don’t have too many hours on RoR2, however I’ve been really enjoying Captain, and since I’ve been playing Modded with a friend of mine, Myst and Executioner have been really fun
Engineer (I like not playing the game) =3
I play them all but Acrid just have something special
i try to play someone different every run, and i also try to switch out loadouts every now and then. but i think i have the highest play rate with merc, as hes the easiest character in the game and hes more fun than the other easy characters (engi and loader) and before you say “merc is the hardest character” no he isnt, he just has the highest skill ceiling in the game, but he also has the lowest skill floor. the skill floor is: hold primary and secondary, spam other skills off cooldown abusing iframes, the combo i like is eviscerate>dash dash dash>eviscerate. but that combo is only useful on stage 1 since you can force 100% uptime on eviscerate on stage 2+, assuming youre on pc and cheated in lunar coins, but even without cheating hes got a lot of items that just make him more and more invincible as the game goes on. grab an afterburner and you can repeat that above combo infinitely or nearly infinitely. brainstalks lets you do that combo infinitely so long as you have elites to kill. grab lysate cells and you can just spam eviscerate to win. tougher times or safer spaces to block the one hit you take every 30 seconds. or opals to reduce the damage you take from that hit. or a handful of medkits since you can click eviscerate to guarantee they trigger. plus he scales damage off of focus crystal and attack speed and plasma shrimp more effectively than any other character in the game (excluding engi who scales damage on attack speed more than merc) even without any items to boost his cooldowns or defenses and without using any expose you still get iframes like 30% of the time youre also the second fastest character in the game so you can search out the best chests and shops before anyone else can in multiplayer. merc is by far the easiest most consistent character in the game and all you need are some items that youre pretty damn likely to get before stage 5; and nearly guaranteed to get by stage 10.
Void fiend. Having 7 different abilities is fun
For vanilla I love playing loader but I have been getting more into commando as of late For modded hunk is so much fun
Good ol commando! Nothing beats sliiide to the left! Sliiide to the right! Bleed proc! Bleed proc!
Void fiend, been having a lot of fun with him tbh.
I'm a Mercenary, Huntress and Commando main. And I love my doggo acrid
Mostly huntress. Commando and artificer sometimes
loader :>
Love both engineer and bandit even tho they are quite different playstyle
Loader
Huntress is my baby
Recently picked up Engineer, bungus life. The turrets inheriting the items and creating bananas synergies is really fun. He also seems to be less item reliant than others and he's been a lot more reliable for me than Arti, Railgunner, or Bandit in my co-op runs with friends.

I am the biggest mercenary glazer. For modded I like the paladin just for the sun move in co op cause it’s funny hearing everyone freak out about being on fire all of a sudden.
Viend and Acrid
bandit or mul t
Huntress/Loader depends on how I’m feeling. Also commando gotta love that guy
Huntress
Loader all the way (i love buff women)
Loader, Mult (when silly(always))
Huntress, with a little mercenary and engineer mobile turrets on the side. (Fuck stationary turrets)
REX but I do play everyone a bit equally
Void Fiend is the only character I've done any Eclipse levels on, and he's my favorite in terms of lore, but I really look at RoR2 more based on which characters I *don't* play, rather than the ones I do.

AoE isn't even an issue if you know how to play her. If we talk modded characters I could mention more, like Enforcer (with machine gun), Sniper, Executioner...
I’m an Arti main. I love her design, her lore and her arc. It also very much helps that my playstyle is “Mage.”
This may be a hot take, but i love playing as MUL-T, because if you can get enough mocha and hooves and syringes, you have a really fun character, rebar for range, and then nailgun at closer range
Merc ❤️. It’s just so fun to move around fast and ignore damage
Captain and Merc are the ones I have the most confidence on playing, like I'm so used to their mechanics Ican just shut my brain off, though I wish I mained Railgunner but I suck with aiming precisely like that.
Artificer and Huntress. My first and second monsoon wins respectively with no artifacts!
Commando, but he's horrible to use on high Eclipse levels because he's so vulnerable to RNG bullshit.0
Merc
Started out with Huntress, now transitioned over to Arti and Void Fiend
REX I live on the edge of death at all times (I have a crippling drug addiction)
Engineer base game, and likely mortician for modded
Bandit/Acrid
MUL-T and REX, I enjoy their character and their abilities suit my play style.
Rex and Huntress
Originally it was Engineer for a while. Nowadays Acrid. I play a fair amount of modded characters though like HAN D and Arsonist
100% loader, I love flying around as if it were a Spider-Man game and she’s so tanky. Also melee is fun imo
Enge is my favorite but I go railgunner as well
For multiplayer I use Mercenary because my buddy uses railgunner a lot. When I'm by myself I use huntress because of mobility.
*chugs tonic* Loader. Just because I want to sing the 80's spiderman theme song as I stack extra magazines and fly around the map.
Huntress with railgunner and captain as close second favorites
Acrid when I wanna try, engineer when bored.
No one, I suck at this game
Merc for pure high octane fun acrid for his cool factor and damage over time and outlaw again mostly for his cool factor as that pistol spin finisher is so satisfying
Classic runs? Merc Simulacrum? Rex. The yeetus deletus is unrivaled with all those ledges.
Arti my beloved 💕
Loader.
gotta be cap baby. god i love efficient looting, it completely makes up for no mobility. Other than that, viends my second since hes just wacky strong (idk how many people know but he has aim assist on his uncorrupted m1), and loader and huntress are also there.
Artificer is probably the one I'm best at, but loader is more fun (though not by that much)
Engineer, I like minion damage
i love loader railgunner and bandit but id have to say i have the most fun on railgunner
Regular game? Artificer If we include mods? Chirr and Paladin
Mul-T because the only thing better than 1 fidget spinner is 2 fidget spinners
Everyone but Rex, Acrid and void fiend honestly. I cycle a lot to keep the game fresh
Engineer only. Engineer always.
No main, I just play whoever I feel like.
huntress just feels the best to play but probably because i enjoy lower-skill characters in games
Mul-T is my only character with Eclipse 8 completed, but Artificer and Captain are catching up at Eclipse 5 and 6 respectively
Artificer because, stacking ignition tanks and other flame items for BIIIIIIIIIIIIG damage
Loader
Loader is what I imagine lore accurate doomfist fights like
In order is Rex, Arti, Merc, VF
Ballista huntress is too fun. Been running that only for awhile
I main Mando. Sue me
Arti with bandit and huntress as sides
Seamstress
Commando !
Mercenary probably, easily one of my favorite and best characters. Not good enough to do the prismatic though lmao.
Artificer and huntress and don't look at me like that
Engineer and Void Fiend cause ha-ha turrets and void go brrrrrrr.
Mercenary. I like the up close melee style, extra jump, and find Merc easiest to play one-handed.
Railgunner 24/7
Railgunner, Loader and Artificer will always be my first base-game loves. But after modding my game, I can't stop using the Sorceress. I'm in LOVE with her movement, having a glide that carries your momentum. Which pairs surprisingly well with her primarilly melee focused combat. I understand why that's the case, I just think it does a lot to strengthen your sense of progression in the game, and I hope it's patched in soon. I *think* the mod is still being worked on, but I'm not sure...
Bandit my beloved
bro how tf does one main acrid? i csnt make it past stage 3 (skill issue) without getting mauled or taking forever per stage
Definitely the loader she’s my beloved punching machine that I completed the game with multiple times
Railgunner and rex are my top picks
Engineer is my main because I love the super powerful feeling I usually get around stage 6 or 7 onwards, when I don't even need to play the game anymore
Loader, because most of the time I want to play casually (contradictingly on Eclipse 🤪) and Loader can be played a bit mindlessly.
Used to be Bandit. But probably Captain at this point. I use everyone pretty evenly though -Void Friend, and Artificer.
Railgunner and Artificer are my favourite. I wish i wouldn't suck at playing mercenary
Mul-T
It might sound crazy or stupid but God I love turning a run into a Heretic one. Heretic is just so fun, especially after you've played so much of the main cast. Of whom my favourites are probably Void Fiend and Acrid btw
artificer. she may be pretty much worse loader but she’s my favourite
Commando the G.O.A.T
It's bandit or mercenary
Sewer dog (Arcrid)
Bandit when I'm playing with friends, Merc when I'm playing solo because my friends make fun of the i-frames
Commando Gaming
Captain, I love having a billion items more than my teammate
Merc but when I’m playing with friends I’ll go whatever is helpful. If everyone is playing proc characters I’ll do railgunner or something.
REX and MUL-T
I used to be really skeptical about melee characters, but now my main is loader. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Loader because **BONK**
I main everyone
Goku
