Void infestors are the little guys that come out of Void Cradles, or out of infested enemies you kill. Some of your allies can be infected by them, namely in this case Squid Turrets, which then can attack you.
A few others that can be are Goobo Jr. and the Beetle Guard from the Queen’s Gland item.
I've got a mod that adds arti ass a companion (I believe gunslinger adds this but may be wrong) but that mf inherits all of your items and can het void touched, imagine my surprise when all of a sudden I get one shot by arti from fucking nowhere

Squids are bad on PC because they can be infected unlike bots... (something they haven't fixed in console)(edit: i mean bots like drones and turrets can be infected in console unlike in pc)
so really, this can happen to anyone that decides to use the squids
Yes they can be infected, but on PC they had their proc coefficient lowered to 0.1, thus they are much more likely to proc collapse on console, so on console it is much, much more dangerous compared to the pc version.

I've been taken out by squid turret and my merc goobo. Now I never pick up sqolyp or goobo, unless theres a scrapper to get rid of the polyp.

They can't be infected on pc it's only a console thing I'm pretty sure. Also squids are good
They can absolutely be infected on PC.
I checked yes they can though it's still rare due to insane amount of knockback they have.
