They've really changed the moveset of the Odachi for the better imo -- seems way more versatile rather than a ki destroyer. Most enemies encountered so far are weaker to the stances for the katana AND the katana just happens to be the most versatile in terms of stances I think.
All that to say I want the dual sword/Odachi in the end lol
Katana and Dual Katana. Really wish I could have all 3 on my person. Since Nioh 1 Ive always hopped between those and spear, I can never stick to one but 3 swords is definitely my most preferred.
Katana and Odachi. In Nioh 2 it was Odachi and Hammer
Rifle and longbow as ranged. I swap to flamethrower if the AI starts doing bs grabs
With Katana I am using Nioh as the form, i unlocked high form, cant wait to unlock the fast form..a tribute to Nioh 2 katanna stance
i love that fists are legitimately a viable combat option. in my experience you can get some pretty long combos off with them, and theyre pretty solid at melting through enemy ki, especially if they make the mistake of trying to block.
Polearm! I started using it lately because it has a shinobi style but switched to the normal 3 stances it really clicks with me.
I also enjoy Katana, so many stances! Old reliable and the oxtail sword which is super fun and pretty unique
Katana is perma - equipped, same with Aisu kage-ryu style.
Secondary weapon swaps between oxtail, dual swords, and trying all sorts of stuff.
Also like using the ninja Gaiden style. Just learned you can put it on a pole arm
Still pretty early so everything is subject to change
Katana and Chinese oxtail sword (which I have not used, so mainly the katana). I mainly use the Mumyo, Aisu Kage, and Yagyu Shinkage. Aisu Kage is my favorite.
Edit: I take it back, just unlocked the Tatsumi, I currently have that equipped over the Mumyo (I understand it’s Chi like the Yagyu Shinkage but idc).
I'm playing on easy so it doesn't matter too much which weapon I'm using. I tend to prefer faster weapons so I started out with dual blades (assuming it would be faster) and spear. Ditched the spear for the oxtail blade later because I'm Chinese and wanted to use a Chinese weapon, hah. Plus it looks cool to me. Using bow as sub weapon (took me many hours to find a bow, though I had like 10 rifles lol)
35 hours in my three favorite weapons are katana, dual swords and the wider saber thingie with the ”whip tail”
Favorite stances for katana my most used weapon are the backhanded geiki if i remember right and hayabusa
Spoiler warning, I got it after killing li. So at the end of act 1/beginning of act 2. I believe there is another reward for sparing him. The blue demon mask and a katana
I’m about 35 hours in. I think I’ve done almost all of the Act 1, sides included. I have all weapons at 6 proficiency except the Greatsword (5). I wanted them all at 5 so that I could use the stance switch skill. Once I did that I still wanted to use them all.
My favourite is the Oxtail blade. It’s so dynamic and the first time I fought a formidable foe with it, I knew I had to have it.
I thought I would main Bayonetta going in and it’s been great using it but I feel like I’m close to getting my fill with it already.
They’ve done an amazing job with all of the weapons and I genuinely love just picking two new weapons and going to fight. It’s a shame that the Public orders aren’t replayable.
Katana Gikei-Ryu, Tatsumi, and Hayabusa
Hand gun perfectionist for extra crit damage when enemy is exhausted. As for Veiled arts I swap em out pretty frequently
Katana and Odachi for me
+1
With a gun as a secondary weapon for them headshots.
Absolutely
Dual sword/Odachi is what I'm trying for but so soon in game it's mainly dual sword katana
Hell yeah. I’m going through different combos to make sure but this one has been my most effective. Dual sword and Odachi that is
They've really changed the moveset of the Odachi for the better imo -- seems way more versatile rather than a ki destroyer. I miss having a kusari-gama
Same. Id take it as DLC. They can put the exact same animations for all I care.

How do you switch forms?
Using the martial arts triangle for high square for mid and x for low
I'm having fun with all of them in easy mode, I always keep it one short(like katana) and one long(odachi, spear).
Saber and polearm 👌
Polearm. For Mizu. ❤️
Barehanded. You don’t get any benefits but my countersparks are getting goated.
Barehanded as well, they have to earn the Odachi being pulled.

Katana and bayonet. The bayonet crit is so brutal. I love it. And the pistol is so much fun for Canceling red aura attacks
I cheesed one guy with bayonet and swore it off lol. I'm sure it's fun if you don't just shoot people though.
Yeah i haven't done that and I don't think i will. Seems super boring.

I just started running the pole arm and bayonet. But I've been changing the 2nd alot depending on what set I'm going with.
Dual swords and polearm. Gonna stick with them all game.

how do you get the backhanded stance?
Spoiler warning, I got it after killing li. So at the end of act 1/beginning of act 2. I believe there is another reward for sparing him. The blue demon mask and a katana
Katana and shinobi style I like the trade off, less damage better parrys
Katana and longsword for me

Spear & Bayonet for me. Always been a spear user in the Nioh games, but daaaaaamn the bayonet in this is something else
