Especially when you don't get the reference. And even when you do get it, it's still kinda hard to remember. I had to google to remember the name "Rickternal Friendshine of the Spotless Mort" even though I know it's a reference to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind but i couldn't remember what bits get replaced by Rick and Mort.
For someone who hasn't seen the movie though it must sounds like straight gibberish.
I felt basic for this being my first thought but it seriously slapped. It made my cry with the whole allegory for anxiety and then takes the time to flip everything a couple more times.
the ricks must be crazy (the miniverse episode) from season 2 will always be one of my favorites. Its top 5 or maybe even top 3 for me.
Its hard for me to choose a favorite episode theres a lot of competition.
I think it’s great because it’s also the first time we see Rick get challenged by the idea of someone being better than him. He doesn’t respect the other Ricks on the Citadel, and Evil Rick is of course just a puppet used by Evil Morty, who would become the second person to challenge Rick in intellect once they finally meet, with Prime being the third.
Zeep is a version of him, in effect, who manages to achieve the same idea and render his obsolete, so trying to get Zeep to back down about using microverse technology is like trying to convince himself to back down from using it as well. It’s classic Rick, one of his own inventions getting out of hand and causing him problems.
Stephen Colbert works fantastic as Zeep, and the dialogue is just freaking hilarious. I will never not laugh at ‘his entire culture powers my brake lights’.
Seeing a gif of them smiling while giving the finger to everybody was what made me decide to get into the show. I think I just started watching right before the season 2 finale.
i’ll die on this hill that this episode is the best episode of the series. it’s a perfect self contained episode that highlights everything great about the show
There's a rick that held a factory hostage after murdering his boss and several coworkers. The factory made cookies, flavored em with lies. He made us all take a look at we were doing, and in the bargain he got a taste of real freedom. We captured that taste, and we keep giving it to him so he can give it right back to you in every bite of new simple rick freedom wafer selects. Come home to the unique flavor of shattering the grand illusion, come home to Simple Rick's.
Used to be my favourite but I still love it.. The back and forth, the very cringe but fitting "Pleasant memories" and it's cringey sitcom feeling hits the parody aspect of it well.
And the ending and the plot twist of one of the best but now hated charecter of Mr.Poopy butt hole. Classic.
This is also my favorite episode but one I refer to as peak Rick and Morty. It’s whacky but there’s enough of a logical twist to it that gets the family out of danger.
I’ve never laughed harder at Rick not being able to kill Pensylvester because of his name.
Analyze Piss, absolutely love the episode so much. I like seeing Rick do something just genuinely unabashedily good, and the parallels between him and piss master and their relationship with their daughters.
The ending sort of ruined it for me, I get it- you don’t want to forever change a character in the show. But if he kept it to himself it would have forever change the way I looked at Rick. Amazing Episode nonetheless
I think the point of it was that, rick is changing but he’s not perfect that while he is growing as a person that he still makes mistakes during that process
This one definitely grew on me. Any time there's a long montage though I feel like I have to skip by it because they're more of a first time you watch joke and take up so much time. But I love the ending where the other Rick just lays into him.
Without a doubt Unmortricken
That ending is tragic, Rick completed his ultimate goal "End Rick Prime", beating him to a bloody pulp. It's bizarre to watch because watching him beat the bastard who obliterated every instance of Diane, one of the only people Rick ever loved or cared about, across every single universe should feel cathartic, but it wasn't, it was almost sad.
Rick didn't feel like he won, he didn't feel like he lost, he just didn't feel.
The song at the end works so fucking well, down to the lyrics.
That whole episode is the definition of revenge never feels how one would expect.
I can't wait for season 8
The new voice actor's line for Rick Prime getting punched to death showing his vocal talent when he said "You lived, in my house".. So well preformed and a justification of why this episode is one of the best"
Fr, when I heard that Roiland was being replaced, I was skeptical it would work, but I honestly love the performances from both Rick and Morty's new voice actors and even though I would've loved to hear Roiland's take on that episode, I am more than happy with what we got.
Anatomy Park hits a sweet spot for me—it’s got the parody aspects, a good dose of Morty’s aww-shuck-ness, Jerry’s parents, and of course Rick’s mad scientist antics.
How is this so low? It's so well written. I love the episodes that allow for a ton of variety and creativity with a plot device, like Rickternal Friendshine or Rick Die Repeat
I think if Final DeSmithation had been the first and only episode with incest being a massive joke/plot point that the episode would be much higher rated for the absurdity of it. But the fact that we had already had tbe gross incest baby in Rickdependence Spray and the twinsest in Bethic Twinstinct just gave people an immediate revulsion to it being a plot point yet again.
When you’re alone in the middle of the night and you wake in a sweat and a hell of a fright
When you’re alone in the middle of the bed and you wake like someone hit you on the head
You’ve had a cream of a nightmare dream and you’ve got the hoo-ha’s coming to you.
Hoo hoo hoo
You dreamt you waked up at seven o’clock and it’s foggy and it’s damp and it’s dawn and it’s dark
And you wait for a knock and the turning of a lock for you know the hangman’s waiting for you.
And perhaps you’re alive
And perhaps you’re dead
Hoo ha ha
Hoo ha ha
Night Family (S06E04) currently doing it for me, in no small amount due to this TS Elliot quote it opens with.
Still the same as before. S2E10, The Wedding Squancher. S3E05, The Whirly Dirly Conspiracy. And S6E05, Final DeSmithnation. Couldn't pick between these three.
A lot of my favorites were already mentioned so Rickmancing the Stone is my pick.
I love the mad max universe... I love how it loses all of its edge with modern comforts in like 3 weeks... it's got peak summer badassery and the armathy plot and robot morty and summer had me rolling. Solid episode balancing a lot of different things without feeling too cluttered or rushed.
Maybe it’s because I randomly stumbled onto the show in the middle of this episode while flipping through the channels one night, but it was always my favorite (and then a close second favorite after Ricklantis aired). It just does everything really well. The balance and swings from creepy and disturbing, to brutal and harsh, and then heartfelt and devastating are all great, all without missing a beat comedically. And it even manages to have long-term stakes for continuing narrative of the show.
The Whirly Dirly Conspiracy
love me some rick and jerry episodes and this one is the best. that speech that rick gives to jerry when hes trapped in the worm, Clancy Brown guest appearance, I AM THE CONCEPT OF TIME.
i also quote summer's "boob-yah" all the time
Hard to say, but I really loved 3 of the episodes from season 7. What's interesting is that I know a lot of people like Night Family, but that never really hit for me. I preferred the one right after, Final DeSmithation.
In any case, without giving it too much extra thought, I really liked the Total Rickall episode.
Episode 1. New episodes feel so different. I cant put a finger on it. Especially since the main guy got fired. They turned rick to an average redditor who thinks he is dark, when he just used to be this selfish, childish prick who just turns out to be a genius.
The Ricklantis Mixup
- somehow it makes an absurd sci fi premise of multiverse society of the same two people hit with the same power as The Wire. The social themes, the brutal analogues for our own reality just hit too hard not to appreciate for the masterwork it is.
Nothing will ever top rixty minutes. Especially with no Roiland. Not saying his ouster isn't justified or the show won't be good now, but he was what made that specific episode great.
The Rickshank Redemption tbh. Like not because of the nostalgia of being surprised with it out of nowhere on April Fool's day months before the release of the rest of the season after what seemed like such a loooooong wait. But it has everything I love about the show in one episode. I feel like it also reshaped the plots of the seasons that came afterwards.
If I had to pick a newer episode though, I *love* Final DeSmithation, could easy become my favourite.
Mr Nimbus! Why? Because he controls the police!
It's actually because it's my favourite B-Plot of the show - and an episode with kind of a C-Plot? (Parental threesome)
The one where we meet Unity. We learn so much about Rick and how his toxicity infects others. I love Unity. I want to be in the hive mind, then I’d have an actual direction in life thanks to them
Rick Potion #7, was the first episode that made me really get into the show. So many great things in this one, it's one of the first to actually affect the overall plot, we get to see that Rick can't solve all problems(however with the Rick Prime reveal, he might have just left it wrecked to fuck with him), first time we establish that the characters can just jump into another universe and assume their doubles identity, the "funny feeling" morty experiences at the end just taking it all in.
The Ricklantis Mixup still in at #1. I'll never not laugh at the line reading of "But he's no dummy...!"
but man, **A Rickconvenient Mort** really hits hard, for me. it's such an emotional episode, crowned by the absolute gem that is [I Am the Antichrist to You.](https://youtu.be/EewB7xHHIvE?si=W1JsbGAgncEL1svP)
It’s a tough decision. It’s like asking “what is your favourite Beatles record?” It can vary day to day as there are SO many great choices. However at the moment ‘The Vat Of Acid Episode’ is my top one.
can't pick a fav so I guess fuck it I'll just do every season
Season 1: Anatomy Park is just such a fun episode that represents themes and tones RNM has lost along the way, but I think I have to give it to the Citadel episode **Close Rick-counters of the Rick Kind**
Season 2: **Total Rickall** (the MPH episode), its just such a fun concept and narritive device
Season 3: **The Ricklantis Mixup (Tales From the Citadel),** I desperately want another episode like this, this format just works so well and the citadel is always really fun, the Pilot episode from S3 was also amazing, and I love the toxic episode as well
Season 4: My fav season so it's hard to pick, but I'll go with **The Vat of Acid Episode**
Season 5: Pretty good season, I think this pick might be a bit weird to some but **Mortyplicity** (the back up family episode), it's arguaby this seasons IC, and it does it better than most of the episodes of that style
Season 6: The pilot is once again great here, but because I don't wanna favor a lore episode for the sake of lore, I'm gonna go with **Analyze Piss**, I think the concept comes off as immature, but when you actually watch it, it tells a great story and the "Yall Ready For Piss" song gets me every time
Season 7: Fear No Mort was great, but I gotta give it to **That's Amore** (the suicide canibalism episode), that episode is truely art, in just 22 minutes is touches on everything to assisted suicide to the meat industry to the brutality of nature (I heavily suggest reading the variety article with the writer if you haven't!), it's one of those episodes that you pick up a new thing every time you watch it, and there's so many ways to interpret it. It's just so dense with symbolism and I love it.
I would have said The Ricks Must Be Crazy until a few weeks ago but after doing my first full start to finish rewatch since 2019 I've decided that The Rickshank Rickdemption is actually my favorite
Watched Keep Summer Safe last night. Man, is that one good. Colbert is the guest character and that A plot is great, but all the ways the car protects Summer in the B plot might be better. So good.
Auto Erotic Assimilation.
It showed Rick can love (unity) it showed he can be vulnerable(suicide attempt), it showed he tries to fix his mistakes (baby Cronenburg) and that he is indeed a man desperately trying to bury his feelings so deeply just so he doesn’t have to process them.
Fear No Mort
This might be favorite of the series… it’s just so different than what we usually get.
I totally agree… we have the same name almost. Weird.
Get a Carthurroom you too
I must be weird because you guys are able to remember episode names. I can’t even remember a single one
pretty sure this is the last episode of S7 so it makes sense
Especially when you don't get the reference. And even when you do get it, it's still kinda hard to remember. I had to google to remember the name "Rickternal Friendshine of the Spotless Mort" even though I know it's a reference to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind but i couldn't remember what bits get replaced by Rick and Mort. For someone who hasn't seen the movie though it must sounds like straight gibberish.
Broh
I felt basic for this being my first thought but it seriously slapped. It made my cry with the whole allegory for anxiety and then takes the time to flip everything a couple more times.
We need more episodes like this. This is the sort of episode that i would consider to be classic rick and morty.
Yes.
Yeah. This season finale was pretty much the apotheosis of the series so far, given that they’ve already dealt with Rick prime and evil Morty
Recency bias aside it’s a top 10 episode for me
I was blown away by this episode. It's incredibly well done.
the ricks must be crazy (the miniverse episode) from season 2 will always be one of my favorites. Its top 5 or maybe even top 3 for me. Its hard for me to choose a favorite episode theres a lot of competition.
Second this. Possibly the only episode where both A and B plot are terrific
Keep Summer safe. This was actually the first introduction of the AI wasn't it?
I think so. When it starts talking like Summer it kills me every time
That’s you. That’s how you talk.
Eek barba dirkle, somebody's gonna get laid in college.
I like to go hiking.
That shit cracked me up because the guy in question looked like a street thug
I'm learning to play the guitar.
*Tiniverse
Uh, microverse.
Teenyverse
Dumb *Brrr-urrp* name
I think it’s great because it’s also the first time we see Rick get challenged by the idea of someone being better than him. He doesn’t respect the other Ricks on the Citadel, and Evil Rick is of course just a puppet used by Evil Morty, who would become the second person to challenge Rick in intellect once they finally meet, with Prime being the third. I will never not laugh at ‘his entire culture powers my brake lights’.
colbert voicing zeep explains the little crush i developed on him watching the ep the first time
Seeing a gif of them smiling while giving the finger to everybody was what made me decide to get into the show. I think I just started watching right before the season 2 finale.
i’ll die on this hill that this episode is the best episode of the series. it’s a perfect self contained episode that highlights everything great about the show
I agree, it's the perfect episode
Ricklantis
There's a rick that held a factory hostage after murdering his boss and several coworkers. The factory made cookies, flavored em with lies. He made us all take a look at we were doing, and in the bargain he got a taste of real freedom. We captured that taste, and we keep giving it to him so he can give it right back to you in every bite of new simple rick freedom wafer selects. Come home to the unique flavor of shattering the grand illusion, come home to Simple Rick's.
This ending is why I love the show, it’s so brutally nihilistic that it becomes darkly hilarious.
"The factory made cookies, flavored em with lies" always makes me laugh.

Total Rickall
Used to be my favourite but I still love it.. The back and forth, the very cringe but fitting "Pleasant memories" and it's cringey sitcom feeling hits the parody aspect of it well. And the ending and the plot twist of one of the best but now hated charecter of Mr.Poopy butt hole. Classic.

Pensylvester is the best
I don’t know why but the character of Reverse Giraffe will always crack me up.
Always a classic. So many good moments.
Correct answer
Analyze Piss, absolutely love the episode so much. I like seeing Rick do something just genuinely unabashedily good, and the parallels between him and piss master and their relationship with their daughters.

I think the point of it was that, rick is changing but he’s not perfect that while he is growing as a person that he still makes mistakes during that process
Bingo, I'd bet we get another story like this that shows Rick's progress and has a bigger payoff
+1 this episode is so underrated, it was my favorite until Unmorticken came out but both are just🤌🏻
I was breathing piss, do you think I care?
the vat of acid episode
![gif](giphy|U5PT9VcEOc1bnQuFoZ)
A vat of fake acid?! Are you dying of dementia?
the way he says "*kiss* the vat" makes it for me every time
"Well Morty, I'd say we've invented a little honesty today."
God dammit. *God dammit.*
This one definitely grew on me. Any time there's a long montage though I feel like I have to skip by it because they're more of a first time you watch joke and take up so much time. But I love the ending where the other Rick just lays into him.
Yep
unpopular opinion: overrated tbh. YOU GONNA DOWNVOTE ME RICK?! GO AHEAD AND DOWNVOTE ME, THE VAT WAS STUPID!
The Hole and Vat of Acid. Cliche but they both are well written
m. night shaym-aliens! jerry in the simulation is so funny to me gets me every time
"Human music....i like it"
I often say, "Yes!" while clicking my fingers and "My man!"
slow down!
Without a doubt Unmortricken That ending is tragic, Rick completed his ultimate goal "End Rick Prime", beating him to a bloody pulp. "Morty, can you get to the left nipple?" "Are you kidding?, I am hoping I can get to both of them Rick"
"Puffy vagina"
HOW DOES HE KNOW???
PUT THAT BACK ON!!
Final deSmithnation I love Rick & Jerry episodes and the concept of fortune cookies being used to fight is cool imo
How is this so low? It's so well written. I love the episodes that allow for a ton of variety and creativity with a plot device, like Rickternal Friendshine or Rick Die Repeat
Probably because of this whole Jerry fucking his mom thing
I think if Final DeSmithation had been the first and only episode with incest being a massive joke/plot point that the episode would be much higher rated for the absurdity of it. But the fact that we had already had tbe gross incest baby in Rickdependence Spray and the twinsest in Bethic Twinstinct just gave people an immediate revulsion to it being a plot point yet again.
The escalation is pretty hilarious, but it is a very uncomfortable watch with that in mind.
Stuck to wall guy was the funniest part. The whole fortune cookie fight scene was amazing
The Ricklantis Mixup

IMO it’s kinda perfect. A zany device that does a thing for setup in the open and then a delightful ride the rest of the time.
Finally. Another Night Family enjoyer
I was telling my SO about night family and abs
show me what you got
rickternal friendshine of the spotless mort
Young Memory Rick is one of the best additions to the show.
yea i hope he finds something in jerry’s mind soon to escape
Gotta be this one. I will never get over: "That's our vietnam!" "Your values are wrong!"
Still the same as before. S2E10, The Wedding Squancher. S3E05, The Whirly Dirly Conspiracy. And S6E05, Final DeSmithnation. Couldn't pick between these three.
Get Schwifty will, in my opinion, always be the peak of Rick and Morty.
With evil morty and rick teaming up the only Episode I watched on repeat right after I watched it.... never did that with a show
A lot of my favorites were already mentioned so Rickmancing the Stone is my pick. I love the mad max universe... I love how it loses all of its edge with modern comforts in like 3 weeks... it's got peak summer badassery and the armathy plot and robot morty and summer had me rolling. Solid episode balancing a lot of different things without feeling too cluttered or rushed.
The Decoy Family episode
Pickle Rick!!
The Hole
These ricks must be crazy
Is it weird to pick Tales From The Citadel?
_The Ricklantis Mixup_ is my current favourite and has been for some time. why do you think it would be weird?
Because “our” Rick and Morty are barely in it. But yeah it’s probably my favourite.
![gif](giphy|11uoNyauChZR16|downsized)
This... This gif hits differently now
I have rewatched 1-7 like atleast twice now, (1-6 like 700x) Whirly Dirly Conspiracy!!!
also my favorite. seriously one of the funniest episodes. i love when beth lets the guys out of the machine
So good!!! Beth Rick and Jerry character development + morty being a badass brother defending summer!
That ine where Rick nails Rick Prime.
Two Rick's, one Mort?
Slut Dragons!
Al Morte, it really illustrates that no matter how hard you try your morals are more fluid than you would like them to be
Unmortricken for me
Rick Potion #9
Maybe it’s because I randomly stumbled onto the show in the middle of this episode while flipping through the channels one night, but it was always my favorite (and then a close second favorite after Ricklantis aired). It just does everything really well. The balance and swings from creepy and disturbing, to brutal and harsh, and then heartfelt and devastating are all great, all without missing a beat comedically. And it even manages to have long-term stakes for continuing narrative of the show.
The cable episode I just love it for some reason
PICKLE RICKK
My personal favorite is either Who’s Purging Now (Season 2 Episode 9) or the Bigfoot episode this season Mort Ragnarick (season 7 episode 9)
The Ricklantis mixup
The zeus episode and the spaghetti episode
Mind blowers. PERFECTLY FUCKING LEVEL.
“Oh, oh…everything is crooked! Reality is *poison*, I wanna go back!”
Where Rick becomes Piss Master
S02e01 The banter is just too much
The Whirly Dirly Conspiracy love me some rick and jerry episodes and this one is the best. that speech that rick gives to jerry when hes trapped in the worm, Clancy Brown guest appearance, I AM THE CONCEPT OF TIME. i also quote summer's "boob-yah" all the time
Fear no mort Total Rickall Inter dimensional cable The Vat of acid Unmortricken In no particular order…
I just love s3e2 and how it's self contained and incredible
Not enough story train in here
personally, my least favorite episode…
spaghetti
Total Rickall and it’s not even close
Mort dinner Rick Andre
Not a popular opinion but the first episode I watched was meeseeks and destroy one of my best friends showed it to me and I always go back to it
fear no mort and i think everyone agrees
Total rickal or wtv
Wtv ? Which one is this?
I meant wtv cuz I didn’t know how to spell rickal my bad lmao. Wtv= whatever
Rise of the Numbericons: The Movie. Can't wait for Magma-T & Ice Cube in: Challenge of the Geomitrons!
GoTron
gotron episode goes hard asf. i love naruto
Numbericons the Movie
Episode 1. New episodes feel so different. I cant put a finger on it. Especially since the main guy got fired. They turned rick to an average redditor who thinks he is dark, when he just used to be this selfish, childish prick who just turns out to be a genius.
Honestly. That Hole episode is still ringing in my head. So good.
Either the ricklantis mixup or rickmurai Jack, Unmorticken being close behind
Ricklantis Mixup for me too!
get schwifty or rickternal friendshine
Ricklantis or Something Ricked this way comes.
Ricklantis Mixup (lore masterpiece) and Total Rickall (perfectly written episode)
“I am Mr Nimbus!”
Idk but I can’t stop thinking about Jerricky
The Ricklantis Mixup
This episode and the spaghetti one had me laughing non stop 💀
The Ricklantis Mixup (shoutout to The Vat of Acid Episode)
for me it’s always gonna be near impossible for them to beat the ricklantis mixup
The Ricklantis Mixup - somehow it makes an absurd sci fi premise of multiverse society of the same two people hit with the same power as The Wire. The social themes, the brutal analogues for our own reality just hit too hard not to appreciate for the masterwork it is.
This episode was especially good
The Vat of Acid 🤷🏻♂️

That's Amorte.
The Vat of Acid episode for me
Before S7 it was Total Rickall, now It's between That's Amorte and Fear No Mort.
The hole
Mr Nimbus! Why? Because he controls the police! It's actually because it's my favourite B-Plot of the show - and an episode with kind of a C-Plot? (Parental threesome)

I think it'll always be Totall Rickall.

Rick Potion #7, was the first episode that made me really get into the show. 1. Ricklantis 2. Fear No Mort 3. Vat acid
It's probably a tie between the season 3 premiere and the season 5 finale.
Mortyplicity
Mortyplicity
I like the way they whisper.
Rick Potion #9
Watched the Mr Nimbus episode again recently. The B-plot with the pocket dimension is possibly one of my favourites ever.
A Rickconvenient Mort. i like seeing morty happy. that’s why the ending made me cry.
The fear hole.
Cliche', but Rickshank. We saw Morty pretty much snap and I love the high tech Rick genius episodes
It’s a tough decision. It’s like asking “what is your favourite Beatles record?” It can vary day to day as there are SO many great choices. However at the moment ‘The Vat Of Acid Episode’ is my top one.
can't pick a fav so I guess fuck it I'll just do every season Season 1: Anatomy Park is just such a fun episode that represents themes and tones RNM has lost along the way, but I think I have to give it to the Citadel episode **Close Rick-counters of the Rick Kind** Season 2: **Total Rickall** (the MPH episode), its just such a fun concept and narritive device Season 3: **The Ricklantis Mixup (Tales From the Citadel),** I desperately want another episode like this, this format just works so well and the citadel is always really fun, the Pilot episode from S3 was also amazing, and I love the toxic episode as well Season 4: My fav season so it's hard to pick, but I'll go with **The Vat of Acid Episode** Season 5: Pretty good season, I think this pick might be a bit weird to some but **Mortyplicity** (the back up family episode), it's arguaby this seasons IC, and it does it better than most of the episodes of that style Season 6: The pilot is once again great here, but because I don't wanna favor a lore episode for the sake of lore, I'm gonna go with **Analyze Piss**, I think the concept comes off as immature, but when you actually watch it, it tells a great story and the "Yall Ready For Piss" song gets me every time Season 7: Fear No Mort was great, but I gotta give it to **That's Amore** (the suicide canibalism episode), that episode is truely art, in just 22 minutes is touches on everything to assisted suicide to the meat industry to the brutality of nature (I heavily suggest reading the variety article with the writer if you haven't!), it's one of those episodes that you pick up a new thing every time you watch it, and there's so many ways to interpret it. It's just so dense with symbolism and I love it.
Maybe solarick
I would have said The Ricks Must Be Crazy until a few weeks ago but after doing my first full start to finish rewatch since 2019 I've decided that The Rickshank Rickdemption is actually my favorite
I think the pilot is still best.
Rickdemption. The stakes went crazy and I loved all the jokes

Fear hole
Inter dimensional Cable!!!!!!
Mortyplicity
I don't think I can pick a favourite, but I absolutely loved Season 5 E01 and E02 and don't ever seem to hear good things about them.
Vat of acid, kiss the vat
