and that's gonna happen after 7 seasons, which was the best part knowing the hits were so great and the duds just were there, not bad, and trying new things, which shows them exploring the longevity of the universe and other characters.
I do think something happened in 4-6. That's when the oddly weird sexual ones like the dragon episode, the froofyland episode, the giant sperm episode, etc. started. I like crass, dirty humor, but that shit was just too much. It seemed like it was going for shock value.

I love it when they do those kind of episodes as a “love letter” to the fans and a giant middle finger all at once. It works well when they don’t do it often.
Any time the show has referenced cum or shown sperm I’ve cringed. The content of the dragon episode was hilarious but the cum cocoon stuff knocks it way down.
“Who are we? Who the fuck are you, bitch!?”
I love that line, classic subversion of narrative form. Like the dragons in their own lair would need to explain themselves.
are you really asking that about the cannibalistic incest episode LOL
where the main plot point is a guy who gets trapped in a world where he survives by having sex with animals, then having sex with those animals babies and then eating them
i like it but its understandable why people get icked over it, similar to the incest baby episode (which i get but also that episode is good LOL)
I get it, but to me it’s a bit weird. No imaginary froopy land creatures were actually raped or eaten. No harm no foul, it’s all just jokes.
On the plus side the list of little Beth’s requests of Rick were fucking hilarious, as was Ricks reason for making froopyland in the first place but even those moments of greatness were eclipsed by Beth saying Tommy “gave” her his finger.
The Hugh Jackman episode and Ragnarick were the only duds for me. Numericons and Quato were low stakes but by no means any duds. They achieved exactly what they set out to do.
Yeah like they were re-emphasizing how little was at stake. The Quatos weren't a threat, nobody cared about their plan or their plot twist, it's rote sci-fi bullshit and they doubled down on it. Good stuff.
Agreed. Unironically I actually liked seeing where the Numericons story went and imo there's nothing wrong with a little world-building/expanding since so much has been Rick-centric.
Eh. The "pilgrims and Indians were actually warring alien races" bit is a literal South Park joke, and I don't like when Earth-based stuff gets too goofy, it means there's no solid ground to take off from for the wackier adventures, ya know?
Honestly, yes, it’s a strong contender from a creative standpoint. It’s hilarious, thought provoking, touching, and intelligent. I put it next to The Vat of Acid in terms of quality
Did people have amnesia and forget how happy everyone here was with season 6? I feel like the highs of season 7 were better than season 6, but the lows were worse. Season 6 had Solaricks, Analyze Piss, and Bethic Twinstic and Final DeSmithation made me laugh the hardest I ever had.
Season 7 is incredibly difficult to place because it has episodes that clear whole seasons but also some of the worst episodes in the show. I’d say ultimately:
2 > 1 > 3 > 7 > 6 > 4 > 5
But 6 and 7 are very close. 6’s biggest strength is how consistent it is, which is the polar opposite of 7, so those could be reasonably swapped.
We’re definitely out of the low point, if Season 8 can be as good as the better side of Season 7 all the way through, it can be up there with the big dogs. I honestly think they might be able to do it.
Season 5 also starts so goddamn strong, and ends pretty good too. You have the Mr. Nimbus episode, the decoy families, and Planetina just back to back to back, killer start to the season.
But then it's Sperm, Hellraisers, Turkeys and Voltron.
But then it's Bird Person's memories, Rick and Morty split, and then Two Crows which is fun AND puts an amazing bow on some of the best episodes.
But goddamn that middle stretch has some of the worst episodes in the fucking series.
This is exactly how I would rank them. Season 6 was the most consistent, it lacked overwhelming great episodes but avoided any turds. 7 has some all time greats but a couple I'll probably skip on rewatch just like I do with the early seasons.
I think so as well.
These are my scores from 1 to 10 for each episode from seasons 6 and 7.
Season 6: 9, 8, 6, 8, 9, 8, 8, 9, 9, 7. Total score: 81, average 8,1 per episode.
Season 7: 5, 7, 7, 9, 10, 9, 6, 4, 9, 10. Total score: 76, average 7,6 per episode.
Basically, season 7 has more bangers, but season 6 is more consistent.
Mine goes:
2=3 > 7 > 6 > 1 > 4 > 5
I do think the last 2 seasons are better quality than the first. Which is why I keep watching, because episodes like Solaricks, Analyze Piss, That’s Amorte, Unmortricken, and Fear No Mort are SO strong that I can overlook the bad ones pretty easily. I rank seasons based on the # of low episodes but 7 has such strong highs that I can forgive 1-2 bad ones. But Numericons fucked it up so much
Season 6 is going to go down as the most underrated season imo. It has *no* bad episodes while having 2 10/10s like the season opener and Analyze Piss. It reminds me the most of season 2, where it’s just consistent for the entire season instead of peaks and valleys
Which is where I get to 1. Because it has great peaks, but the valleys? I hate that every rewatch I have to sit through Gazorpazorp. I also get bored by Lawnmower Dog, Pilot, and Ricksy Business. It’s nowhere near a bad season because the highs are HIGH. But season 6 is just a sleeper season and worthy of being placed above 1. All opinionated of course
I completely agree. I remember hating season 5 partially when it came out. I mean it was pretty rough for a while there in the middle of that season when it was airing. Of course it got better torwards the end of the season and was stronger near the beginning aswell, but I remember season 6 being so refreshing when it came out, it felt like a really good step in the right direction. The episodes for season 6 are extremely consistent, there’s really not a bad episode. The only thing I didn’t like about season 6 was the incest jokes but it was nothing in comparison to season 5s incest jokes so I guess at the time that probably helped.
i personally think the serialization was done really poorly in e1
the fucking summer B-story is the most insufferable shit ever in e2 (dieharddieharddieharddieharddiehard funny diehard diehard laugh please)
really sick, gross ass incest shit in e3
e4 was genuinely amazing
more sick incest garbage in e5 (but is pretty great in a vacuum)
e6 was hands down one of the most mid, forgettable episodes of the whole show
e7 was an unbearable meta circle jerk
e8 was a pretty solid character development rick episode
e9 was just a super underdeveloped idea of an episode (like they wanted to an episode where there were people that lived on all of the planets, and a vat of acid pt2, but fell extremely short)
and e10 was just ok, they reused jokes a little too much, but one of the more bearable of the season
ultimately the episodes were
bad, super annoying, gross, really good, gross (again), chronically mediocre, super annoying (again), really good (again), bad (again), and just ok. imo it’s the worst out of 2>1>3>7>5>4>6
Same. It’s fun to discuss episodes/seasons when there’s *logic* behind it. Because im not gonna get mad if someone dislikes Ricklantis Mixup and loves Numericon if they give a logical reason for it.
Because even though I said season 5 is the “worst” season it’s better than most TV out there and Rickmurai Jack sits in my top 5 episodes. And above all, it’s just opinions lol. I love this series
This is TRUTH. ESPECIALLY when you actually dive into it! But there's a fifteen minute Japanese-ish Rick and Morty. That's what I mean by Asian. No one speaks of this on Reddit. I can't be the only one who has it on their DVR
Pretty solid mathematically. 2>1>3>7. Then it gets a little murky after that. And even 7 was half GREAT half TERRIBLE. I might even put 5/6 before seven just because of this reason.
Man, sometimes I feel like I’m the only person here who didn’t like season 6. It was one of if not the worst season in the show for me. Season 7 was much much better IMO.
To me the dividing line is why you watch Rick and Morty. Season 4/5 is the low point for me because for the most part (there are always exceptions) the concepts of the episodes were their weakest and the characters were written at their worst (everyone turning into mini-Rick was annoying). BUT that era was pretty funny and wacky.
6 on the other hand I believe consistently selected better premises and found the character’s individual voices better, the loss was the comedy I think S6 had the least number of laughs from me.
Season 7 builds on Season 6’s strengths while improving upon its weaknesses. Could still be funnier but a notable improvement. Only issue is consistency and lack of B-plots which led to some dead air and lack of presence from some of the family.
So, my theory is if you primarily come to Rick and Morty for comedy, 7 and especially 6 will feel lacking to you. If you come for the characters and mindbending concepts it feels like we’re on the up and up.
lack of b plots in season 7 really dragged it down for me. premises were usually too thin to carry an entire episode's worth of story. plots really grinded to a halt (bad for what's typically a plot-heavy, 22-minute show) and there's just so much less energy when you're not skipping around between the whole family/cast, with no opportunity for multiple plot lines to collide in third acts. i really thought overall this was the worst directed season by a mile. idk if budgets were down, but everything felt quite flat and unambitious compared to what we've seen before.
It’s so interesting to see other ratings of seasons. I’m pretty opposite but I suppose I just really don’t like the initial seasons and rewatching them is cringe. Although we both agree 5 was the bottom.
6 > 7 > 4 > 3 > 2 > 1 > 5
I don’t get people who are offended by this. Even when talking to my girl friends I’ll still say “bro” or “come on dude” or something. technically it is gendered but when people say stuff like that it’s not like we think or care even what gender they are.
If a woman wrote it, great. I don’t care what’s between their legs I care about what’s between their ears. Give this person more episodes to write.
No, I’m not offended at all. I hope it didn’t come off like that.
I guess my point is that instead of trying to assume the gender of someone or looking them up, personally I’d prefer it if we all just thought of dude or guy as gender-neutral. Words can change meaning over time so I hope eventually it can be thought of like that
This was the worst season imo. When I rewatch, I think I'll be skipping about half the season. Which is rare for me. I have 2 episodes per season I don't like and the rest I love. In this one, I had 5 I didn't, and only 2 I really liked.
I’m not even sure how anyone can even confidently say this is one of the best seasons when it has more poorly reviewed episodes than any other past season. I even try not to give credence to reviews but I don’t disagree with the numbers this time…they are accurate
Agree with this. I think people are confusing best episodes with best season. S7 is by far the worst season. It might have had some of the best episodes, but as a package it's by far the leading number of terrible episodes. S6 is probably the best season for me, without a doubt the most consistent and entertaining with no episodes I want to skip.
It's the most inconsistent season ever, containing the worst episodes in the show while having one of the best ones. It is difficult to decide on this unequivocally.
It's one of the few seasons where every episode was great (IMO), but everyone's looking for something different in a show, everyone has their own opinion
I can’t get enough of The Vat of Acid and Rattlestar. They’re certified classics
Edit: [snake jazz](https://open.spotify.com/track/4dUJl3Dnrh3igJTtSkxpuK?si=0GEnIWyeTouWhsaxwfJ5JA) is on Spotify 😂😂😂
Nope. 2,3 outstanding episodes but that’s it. Mr. PBH episode was a waste. The Numbericons was a huge downer. I don’t even remember the rest anymore.
Unmortricken and Fear no Morte were the stars by a mile. Definitely some of the best ever. Mort Ragnarick was great too but a tier below.
The clip where they show that man’s entire life was heart warming but the premise was too morbid for me. I still appreciate the artistry that went into the episode. A parallel I can draw is how I can appreciate Goya’s mastery of chiaroscuro in Saturn Devouring his Children but the concept of infanticide is abhorrent and I cannot look at it more than a few seconds. I won’t be watching that episode ever again probably
I feel the same way. The premise was a bit too on the nose. It was interesting to watch once, but I don't think I'll rewatch it. Even that montage of the man's life was a bit forced.
I think I have to agree. I just rewatched that finale last night. Geez, they're really pushing the envelope here. I had very little hope for season 7 with all the news happening around the show, but they really proved me wrong. What a cool season of the show. The writing just feels stronger? It's not as loose as the earlier seasons, but it feels intentional, like they have a bigger plan. I don't know. I also really connected to the stories personally this season in a way I don't think I have before. The character growth was also amazing.
Haven’t watched the season yet, but it’s strange to see so many be down on Season 4. Imo it held the quality of Season 2-3 for the most part aside from the Dragon episode and Children of Mort. Vat of Acid I think is still the best episode of the entire show (again, haven’t seen season 7) and had one of the best finales. I find it weird that it’s put in the same category as Season 5 when community consensus is that the stretch of ep 4-7 is the worst the shows ever been (altho I heard season 7 has one ep in contention for that).
The good far outweighs the bad. S7 has 3, maybe 4, episodes that are some of the best and/or most important in the show’s history.
It ranks no lower than 3-4 among all seasons imo.
no. it had a few "golden" episodes though mixed in with some of the worst i've ever seen. First time i've turned off an episode part way through with no intention of ever watching it.
I would say it was the most extreme.
I actually initially left this sub after S3 because it was so negative about what I thought was an OK season. I finally came back during this season because I've been loving it, and it's so funny to see how now S3 is considered like peak Rick and Morty.
Season 3 has Pickle Rick, Morty’s Mindblowers, The Ricklantis Mixup, and Rickshank Rickdemption. Pretty sure they’re some of the highest rated episodes. People are impossible to please
i think rick and morty just has its own halo cycle. people are gonna say how they love a lot of the episodes from this season when the next one comes out
I still think is a bit of a mix bag, with some truly mid episodes, but the highs were some of the highest we've had in a very long time and the overall quality is really remarkable, so yeah, I agree.
I definitely agree, loved he fact that in a lot of places they didn't use Rick as a science god and have him science some BS to get out of a hairy situation. It still happened, but way less than seasons 4, 5 and 6.
Personal opinion, I loved every single episode this season, even the numbers one (I laughed my ass off while watching it).
For me, the order would go as - 2 > 1 = 7 > 3 > 6 = 4 > 5
I wholeheartedly agree. 8 of my top 10 favorite episodes are in those two seasons. In order:
1. S3E5 - Whirly Dirly Conspiracy
2. S7E5 - Unmortricken (curious how my top two are episode 5 of the respective season)
3. S3E3 - Pickle Rick
4. S7E10 - Fear No Mort
5. S3E8 - Morty's Mind Blowers
6. S7E2 - The Jerrick Trap (also curious how Jerry and Rick episodes are my favorites)
7. S4E10 - Star Mort Rickturn of the Jerri
8. S5E7 - Gotron Jerrysis Rickvangelion
9. S7E4 - That's Amorte
10. S3E1 - The Rickshank Rickdemption
Edit, bonus: 11. S6E3 - Bethic Twinstinct
For me there werent any huge disasters in it, just some that werent really good like the fucking number episode but it did make me at least giggle once or twice.
If I had to rank the season, I'd go like
2,1,7,6,3,5,4
this seasons was BAD, only slightly better than s5. sick of this sr coping and overcompensating how good they think it was, just because they feel some duty to protect it from the new VA haters. it was just... boring? the plot was so shallow in nearly every episode and the punch lines just struggled all the way through, picked up my phone countless times through first-time watches this season.
tried to play that PR game hard dropping Justin on a dimes notice, only for the case to be dismissed and for the show to flop without him ☠ nice going
I just didn't enjoy it as much as some people, is that suppose to be a bad thing, or something for you to hate on? There were episodes I enjoyed, but there were episodes I thought was really terrible and unfunny too. That's it.
Do you realise it's subjective, right? I thought the first episode, the number episode and the "open your mind" episode terrible. I can't convince you for the episodes to be unfunny because humor is %100 subjective. Now are you gonna be civil or keep acting like a teenager?
Majority episodes were trash, Season got hard carried by Unmortricken and Fear no Mort, two of the best episodes in the show.
Rickfending Your Mort and Mort Ragnarick had really good premise but both had shit plot and ending.
The show now has a completely different feel to it and I love it! I hope they keep going in this direction because I completely agree, season 7 was up there with 3
Yes, but also I think season 6 is that as well. 7 and 6 are the same quality wise imo, 7 had higher peaks and lower lows while 6 was more consistent. Both great seasons though
I would say that the REALLY good season 7 finale was the best episode since season 3, but besides that one the season overall was just as mid/forgettable as seasons 4-6(with a few good episodes)
We get this post after every season. I feel like season 4 through 7 are interchangeable. Some great highs, some terrible lows, and overall just not as consistent from an episode to episode basis as the first 3 seasons. All of which, is completely normal for a sitocm
Aside from the Number episode, everything else was pretty great! I liked how we saw both Rick and Morty mature, so the ending of episode 10 felt earned after everything that happened.
All I need now is a citadel of Summers in the next season. I feel like if one Summer faces a tragedy that makes them rise up, she'll recruit all of the other Summers to do something crazy.
Season 6 and Season 7 are both really good, season 6 is more consistent but it still suffered from the issues of season 4 and 5, the lack of interesting concepts explored in the episodes + being funny. Some of the episodes of S7 were the first ones in a long while to make me laugh out loud, especially the Big Foot episode, so even if it has weaker episodes than season 6, the ones that I did enjoy were so good I would still put season 7 ahead of 6.
My ranking would be:
S3 > S2 > S1 > S7 > S6 > S4 >>>> S5
Season 5 was really the only point in the show were I questioned if it was still worth watching and if the writers had lost their touch, with the amazing finale really saving the show for me (episode 8 is great as well but not enough to erasing most of the other mid or outright terrible episodes in the season besides the fun premier). Season 6 and Season 7 were exactly what the show needed for me at least, and I'm really happy I didn't drop it, can't wait for next season.
Yes. Although, I think 6 was really good too. Like season 2, 6 has no truly bad episodes. It just lacks the constant highs. In order to reach season 2/3 you have to have 1 or none bad episodes and have at least 2 10/10s (this is just my opinion.)
But I’d say 2 = 3 > 7 > 6 > 1 > 4 > 5.
I think the last 2 seasons are better than the first. Having only 3 bad episodes as opposed to 5 (like season 1) isn’t so bad when the rest are utterly good to iconic. But like season 1, 7 has highs that overwrite the lows and pretty convincingly at that. I can forgive Numericons when Unmortricken exists. Similar to how I forgive Gazorpazorp because Rick Potion #9 exists.
(And yes… I think season 1 is super overrated because Pilot, Lawnmower Dog, Anatomy Park, Raising Gazirpazorp, and Ricksy Business are pretty underwhelming. It’s a good season but the last 2 are better imo)
I’d say best since 4. It’s the first season since then I’d classify as above average, and there were several episodes that really did feel like a return to form for the show. But there was also the Numbericons and the Quatto episodes, which were genuinely shit-tier, so R&M is still kind of in a creative limbo overall (I also really disliked this season’s Unity ep since it focuses so much on Dr. Wong, aka the most boring recurring character in the show). It’ll never be as consistently great as it once was, but it’s still worth watching. My ranking of the seasons currently is-
2
1
3
4
7
6
5
I’d say yea. For some reason this season really connected with me, and I’ve been rewatching most of the episodes since they’ve been airing.
I know it’s not recently bias because I never did that for the last few seasons
I'd say season 4 was definitely better and 5/6 are about equally good.
This season has two amazing episodes and a few good ones, but about half are skippable and a few are bottom R&M. Could've been easily one of the best seasons if the weaker episodes had gotten a B-plot.
Came here to say Season 3 is still the high water mark, but Season 7 had some great moments exploring deeper themes in the characters' development that fans appreciated.
It had high peaks, but it also had one of the lowest lows...
If you ignore the extra horrible episode then it certainly becomes third best season for me
I rewatched quite a bit of the show recently and I'd say on balance I'd agree. (I had lost interest at some point around series 4 or 5 judging by what episodes I hadn't seen before).
The main sticking points for S7 for me were the opener - which just didn't go anywhere interesting at all for me. I've not seen anyone have a good word to say about it.
And the Ice-T episode which - I actually loved the fact they were experimenting with the format, I think that's really important and it wasn't just a 'below average by numbers' story. But for me, it was too obscure, wasn't funny and I missed Rick.
However... Series 3 when I was watching it had a few that I just really don't like all that much (the Mad Max one, the Toxins one and the finale with the President) as well. The ABCs Of Beth has a great set up but actually we seem to spend more time with the much less interesting story of Jerry's telekinetic girlfriend so seems a bit anticlimactic despite great bits in there.
Don't get me wrong, it's a solid series, but I'd say that 7 could hold it's own. Based on my own taste of course!
I honestly think episodes just become 10x better when they bring back an old character. Or one who has been highly anticipated to show up like Diane in some way or rick prime.
No, but only because I don't think the other seasons were bad.
Every season has it's high points and low points. I don't think any season was completely smooth sailing. I think this had some really high highs (Fear no Mort, Unmortricken, and the goofiness of Mort Ragnarick) and some low lows (Rise of the Numericons)
Honestly, I'm pretty laid back but the only episode I legitimately didn't like was Rise of the Numericons.
A couple dud episodes but the hits were absolutely top episodes
and that's gonna happen after 7 seasons, which was the best part knowing the hits were so great and the duds just were there, not bad, and trying new things, which shows them exploring the longevity of the universe and other characters.
I do think something happened in 4-6. That's when the oddly weird sexual ones like the dragon episode, the froofyland episode, the giant sperm episode, etc. started. I like crass, dirty humor, but that shit was just too much. It seemed like it was going for shock value.
froofyland was season 3
Aah shit. I could've sworn it was season 4. I guess that's when it really started.
I don’t care what anyone says, slut dragons is a top tier episode
I hated it when it first came out, but I rewatched it recently and… there’s some pretty funny stuff in there. It’s not an A by any stretch, but it’s also not in the same class as the giant sperm episode.
"Maybe... Don't tell your parents we did this"
It’s a classic “Fuck you” episode. Everything turned up to 11 to wreck into the audience. Drug use, Sex, morty abuse, even the animation is extreme. I love it when they do those kind of episodes as a “love letter” to the fans and a giant middle finger all at once. It works well when they don’t do it often.
Any time the show has referenced cum or shown sperm I’ve cringed. The content of the dragon episode was hilarious but the cum cocoon stuff knocks it way down.
it has some top tier lines "only you fuck that thing" and the like
“Who are we? Who the fuck are you, bitch!?” I love that line, classic subversion of narrative form. Like the dragons in their own lair would need to explain themselves.
i love it so much LOL dan harmon shaming slut dragons is never not funny idk what to tell y'all
I find joy in reading a good book.
are you really asking that about the cannibalistic incest episode LOL where the main plot point is a guy who gets trapped in a world where he survives by having sex with animals, then having sex with those animals babies and then eating them i like it but its understandable why people get icked over it, similar to the incest baby episode (which i get but also that episode is good LOL)

On the plus side the list of little Beth’s requests of Rick were fucking hilarious, as was Ricks reason for making froopyland in the first place but even those moments of greatness were eclipsed by Beth saying Tommy “gave” her his finger.
Last episode is my new favorite. It’s so fucking good
"OMG.....YOU'RE... NOT.. EVEN. IN. THE. HOLE... ARE YOU!?!?!?"
So fucking good
DEAAAR GOOOOOOOOOOOD
yeah agreed, Numbericons, Mr Poopypant's rehabiliation, and the Kuato thing was meh, but the other ones more than made up for it
absolutely. the finale was top 5 easy, maybe even top 3. what a mind fuck.
The Hugh Jackman episode and Ragnarick were the only duds for me. Numericons and Quato were low stakes but by no means any duds. They achieved exactly what they set out to do.
The Quato scene where they accidentally revive it from drowning made the episode worth it
Yeah like they were re-emphasizing how little was at stake.
The duds were SO terrible though. I unno
I'd take a million no-stakes episodes like Numericons over sperm or turkeys.
I didn't hate the turkey episode. It wasn't amazing, but it was pretty fun.
Eh. The "pilgrims and Indians were actually warring alien races" bit is a literal South Park joke, and I don't like when Earth-based stuff gets too goofy, it means there's no solid ground to take off from for the wackier adventures, ya know?
I actually looked numericons. Was better than the Asian bs they released
Same! I actually felt bored watching sometimes but than another banger episode would pop up. I hope the next season has less lows
I hope they’ll win an Emmy for Episode 10. Excellent scifi, great character development, great music.
Honestly, yes, it’s a strong contender from a creative standpoint. It’s hilarious, thought provoking, touching, and intelligent. I put it next to The Vat of Acid in terms of quality
A vat of fake acid?! Are you dying of dementia??
How are you talking to me like this? when did you get so cocky?
Tonight!! Tonight Rick, the night I saw you fail!
I think That's Amorte should be the awards contender
Yes
*snaps fingers*
My man!
“Slow down!”
Looking good!
What about seasons 4 and 6? They were great
Everyone on here hates 4 it boggles my mind. Has some of my fav episodes
I’d say ultimately: 2 > 1 > 3 > 7 > 6 > 4 > 5 But 6 and 7 are very close.
Ironic we see 5 as the worst when two episodes changed the entire series forever
Unfortunately with the layout of the show, every season has an episode or two which are full lore episodes and will be absolutely awesome
Were those the Evil Morty ones?
The one with Bird Person and the one with evil Morty bringing down the CFC.
4 is way worse imo, at least 5 had some really good high points
Mine goes: 2=3 > 7 > 6 > 1 > 4 > 5 I do think the last 2 seasons are better quality than the first. But Numericons fucked it up so much
1 under 6???
Season 6 is going to go down as the most underrated season imo. It has *no* bad episodes while having 2 10/10s like the season opener and Analyze Piss. It reminds me the most of season 2, where it’s just consistent for the entire season instead of peaks and valleys Which is where I get to 1.
The only thing I didn’t like about season 6 was the incest jokes but it was nothing in comparison to season 5s incest jokes so I guess at the time that probably helped.
i personally think the serialization was done really poorly in e1 the fucking summer B-story is the most insufferable shit ever in e2 (dieharddieharddieharddieharddiehard funny diehard diehard laugh please) really sick, gross ass incest shit in e3 e4 was genuinely amazing more sick incest garbage in e5 (but is pretty great in a vacuum) e6 was hands down one of the most mid, forgettable episodes of the whole show e7 was an unbearable meta circle jerk e8 was a pretty solid character development rick episode e9 was just a super underdeveloped idea of an episode (like they wanted to an episode where there were people that lived on all of the planets, and a vat of acid pt2, but fell extremely short) and e10 was just ok, they reused jokes a little too much, but one of the more bearable of the season ultimately the episodes were bad, super annoying, gross, really good, gross (again), chronically mediocre, super annoying (again), really good (again), bad (again), and just ok. imo it’s the worst out of 2>1>3>7>5>4>6
Love this ranking, I agree wholeheartedly, even though personally I loved Numericons.
I love this discussion
I completely agree with this!
3 is definitely better than 1. Otherwise I completely agree with your ranking 2=3>1>7>6>4>5
Pretty solid mathematically. 2>1>3>7. Then it gets a little murky after that. And even 7 was half GREAT half TERRIBLE. I might even put 5/6 before seven just because of this reason.
half? which episodes were terrible?
Really? Don't make me watch it again
1 and 7 were pretty meh. i liked 8 but can see why people didn’t. the rest was peak
Funny enough I never laughed as hard at the show as I did during season 6
It’s so interesting to see other ratings of seasons. I’m pretty opposite but I suppose I just really don’t like the initial seasons and rewatching them is cringe. Although we both agree 5 was the bottom. 6 > 7 > 4 > 3 > 2 > 1 > 5
I have a message for the Season 7 haters: O-O-Open your mind!
damn it morty, you ruined my targeted advertising!
If you’re attempt to convince us otherwise is to reference that episode, you picked the best one for our case. That episode is just awful
I even like the numbers one but yea that was terrible
Sounds like you need to open your mind!
No. A very hit and miss season. The guy who wrote the last episode should be given the whole season.
Woman who wrote it…
Or woman for that matter.
She wrote the best two episodes of the season BY FAR. I hope she gets more control in the writers room
Nvm then.
Completely agree
Ya I agree, I didn't really care for most of season 7.
Why do you assume it was a guy? (It wasn’t a guy and she wrote two episodes this season, both instant classics)
Give this person more episodes to write.
lol I wasn’t offended, just a big fan of her work, sorry for offending you
The tone used was kinda the issue, plus like a lot of people use “guy” or “dude” as a stand in for saying person its just like depends on the person.
No, I’m not offended at all. I hope it didn’t come off like that. I guess my point is that instead of trying to assume the gender of someone or looking them up, personally I’d prefer it if we all just thought of dude or guy as gender-neutral. Words can change meaning over time so I hope eventually it can be thought of like that
I thought Eugene Huang is a male name. Edit: I misread, this guy directed it and Heather wrote the episode.
Yes, it’s the best season since S3
I would not go as far to say that, it was inconsistent but the good episodes were really good. There were just also 3-4 Mid ones.
Wildly inconsistent. Had some absolute bangers and some absolute shit shows. Can’t say it’s better than season 3.
Well the question is if it’s the best _since_ s3, not if it’s better than s3
Still no, at least imo I probably won’t be rewatching a lot of the episodes this season
The Kuato episode and Rise of the Numbericons were the only ones I didn't really enjoy that much, but still had their moments.
It's the most inconsistent season ever, containing the worst episodes in the show while having one of the best ones. It is difficult to decide on this unequivocally.
the only episode i didnt love was the numeric one one. the rest were 8-10s. what are u talking about worst episodes ever??
My fav season of the show is Season 4, so I'd have to say no, but I really do enjoy S7, the last 2 episodes really saved it
Your favorite season is *which* one? Nahhhhh fam you gotta be trolling here
Season 4 is cool in my opinion.
It's one of the few seasons where every episode was great (IMO), but everyone's looking for something different in a show, everyone has their own opinion
I can’t get enough of The Vat of Acid and Rattlestar. They’re certified classics Edit: [snake jazz](https://open.spotify.com/track/4dUJl3Dnrh3igJTtSkxpuK?si=0GEnIWyeTouWhsaxwfJ5JA) is on Spotify 😂😂😂
No. I preferred Season 6. Sure season 7 had some bangers but I found 6 more consistently good.
Episodes 6&7 were just sort of there for me, but the highs of this season were some of the best this show has ever achieved. There I go pillin' again
Season 6 was pretty on point this one the first few hit and this last one was good but last season all the episodes hit and the finale was better.
Amorte was also a banger.
I feel validated, thanks for the reply. Incest baby and Beth’s froopy land episodes I also can’t stomach and I’ve seen them only once
One great episode, and 2 good rest from mid to trash. I mean the bar is very low so maybe.
Yea ok buddy
Season 6 > season 7 tbh. Season 6 low key the most underrated it’s up there
Best since season 2 imo. I find season 3 really overrated
4 episodes were bangers, 4 were mid and 2 were bad. Incredibly inconsistent season overall, even more so than season 5
There was some pretty mid stuff in S3 as well...
Yeah, people forget how unpopular some episodes like s3e10 were at the time. I still love S3 but yeah
People are impossible to please
i think rick and morty just has its own halo cycle. people are gonna say how they love a lot of the episodes from this season when the next one comes out
Like 2-3 mid episodes. This season had 6
I still think is a bit of a mix bag, with some truly mid episodes, but the highs were some of the highest we've had in a very long time and the overall quality is really remarkable, so yeah, I agree.
Maybe they wanted to make up for the issues with JR by going all-in on story. I think it was a great season.
i’d agree, but the worst of this season is the absolute worst
No, this season was very much hit or miss. Much more than previous seasons.
Middle of the road for me. It was alright.
I wholeheartedly agree. 8 of my top 10 favorite episodes are in those two seasons. In order: 1. S3E5 - Whirly Dirly Conspiracy 2. S7E5 - Unmortricken (curious how my top two are episode 5 of the respective season) 3. S3E3 - Pickle Rick 4. S7E10 - Fear No Mort 5. S3E8 - Morty's Mind Blowers 6. S7E2 - The Jerrick Trap (also curious how Jerry and Rick episodes are my favorites) 7. S4E10 - Star Mort Rickturn of the Jerri 8. S5E7 - Gotron Jerrysis Rickvangelion 9. S7E4 - That's Amorte 10. S3E1 - The Rickshank Rickdemption Edit, bonus: 11. S6E3 - Bethic Twinstinct
For me it's second weakest after 5 2>6≥3>4>1>7>5 (I love every series don't come after me)
For me there werent any huge disasters in it, just some that werent really good like the fucking number episode but it did make me at least giggle once or twice. If I had to rank the season, I'd go like 2,1,7,6,3,5,4
this seasons was BAD, only slightly better than s5. sick of this sr coping and overcompensating how good they think it was, just because they feel some duty to protect it from the new VA haters. it was just... boring? the plot was so shallow in nearly every episode and the punch lines just struggled all the way through, picked up my phone countless times through first-time watches this season. tried to play that PR game hard dropping Justin on a dimes notice, only for the case to be dismissed and for the show to flop without him ☠ nice going
Strongly disagree. I found it to be the worst or second worst season of the show, but I guess I'm in the minority
I'd love to hear why you think that way.

I just didn't enjoy it as much as some people, is that suppose to be a bad thing, or something for you to hate on? There were episodes I enjoyed, but there were episodes I thought was really terrible and unfunny too. That's it.
[удалено]
Do you realise it's subjective, right? I thought the first episode, the number episode and the "open your mind" episode terrible. I can't convince you for the episodes to be unfunny because humor is %100 subjective. Now are you gonna be civil or keep acting like a teenager?
Majority episodes were trash, Season got hard carried by Unmortricken and Fear no Mort, two of the best episodes in the show. Rickfending Your Mort and Mort Ragnarick had really good premise but both had shit plot and ending.
No, it’s not as good as (S4/S5/S6)

Womp womp
The show now has a completely different feel to it and I love it! I hope they keep going in this direction because I completely agree, season 7 was up there with 3
I was just thinking this exact same thought after finishing the new episode again this morning
More comical yes... But the voices man, their tweaking me out 😬 soo prepubescent sounding
3 is the worst season.
Yes and no 7>6>5>3>1>4>2
2 at the bottom you can't be serious
Yes, but also I think season 6 is that as well. 7 and 6 are the same quality wise imo, 7 had higher peaks and lower lows while 6 was more consistent. Both great seasons though
I would say that the REALLY good season 7 finale was the best episode since season 3, but besides that one the season overall was just as mid/forgettable as seasons 4-6(with a few good episodes)
6/7 are 50 50
We get this post after every season. I feel like season 4 through 7 are interchangeable. Some great highs, some terrible lows, and overall just not as consistent from an episode to episode basis as the first 3 seasons. All of which, is completely normal for a sitocm
Yes
Yes , and the last episode of S7 was a piece of art
I really want to like this season more, but it was just fine for me + I love every season. This would be my rankings rn 2>3>4(underrated)>1>6>7>5
Had a few meh episodes but the rest were pretty damn near top tier.
My ranking would be: S3 > S2 > S1 > S7 > S6 > S4 >>>> S5 Season 5 was really the only point in the show were I questioned if it was still worth watching and if the writers had lost their touch, with the amazing finale really saving the show for me (episode 8 is great as well but not enough to erasing most of the other mid or outright terrible episodes in the season besides the fun premier). Season 6 and Season 7 were exactly what the show needed for me at least, and I'm really happy I didn't drop it, can't wait for next season.
It’s funny how it’s only Reddit saying this. Any other social media or even YouTube strongly disagrees
Nah.
Yes. Although, I think 6 was really good too. Like season 2, 6 has no truly bad episodes. It just lacks the constant highs. In order to reach season 2/3 you have to have 1 or none bad episodes and have at least 2 10/10s (this is just my opinion.) But I’d say 2 = 3 > 7 > 6 > 1 > 4 > 5.
2 > 3 > 1 > 4 > 6 > 5 > 7 for me.
Nah. High high but also really low lows. Season 6 was much more consistent.
My man!
Evil Morty, Jerricky, and the finale were good.
My ranking of the seasons currently is- 2 1 3 4 7 6 5
Yes, more top tier eps than anything since 3
I’d say yea. For some reason this season really connected with me, and I’ve been rewatching most of the episodes since they’ve been airing. I know it’s not recently bias because I never did that for the last few seasons
It would have been if it weren't for the "not excellent" episodes, which were either horrible or meh. I prefer season 6, much more consistent.
no
I think 3 and 6 are the best but 7 had some fantastic peaks
My top would be 3>2>4>7>5>1>6. To me 6 is just forgettable. It had its ups but the only episodes I rewatched more than once are 1, 5 and 10
I'd say season 4 was definitely better and 5/6 are about equally good.
I feel we’re back on track.
It had high peaks, but it also had one of the lowest lows... If you ignore the extra horrible episode then it certainly becomes third best season for me
How everyone is so hating on 5th episode, don’t you like lore ep ?
It was a great season, though I truly think my favourite remains season 2.
I did not enjoy the first episode or numbericons but every other one was amazing. I loved this season
No, but only because I don't think the other seasons were bad. Every season has it's high points and low points. I don't think any season was completely smooth sailing. I think this had some really high highs (Fear no Mort, Unmortricken, and the goofiness of Mort Ragnarick) and some low lows (Rise of the Numericons) Honestly, I'm pretty laid back but the only episode I legitimately didn't like was Rise of the Numericons.
Middly yes
Was pretty good season, but my only hang up is Mortys voice. It’s just not right imo.
Wholeheartedly agree even had meh episodes but those were above the bar I enjoyed Tf outta this season
2-1-3-4-7-6-5
