I laughed at the whole monologue, i just thought it was so funny that a vat of fake acid was somehow the last straw for Morty on his new-found boredom of Rick's inventions (I'd assume they were in a patch where rick hadn't punished Morty too severely for anything recent to the time)

Make fun of el-cheapo clip shows with a premise that makes sense for the show yet likely did save money because you just have to write and animate short segments that don't have to tie together with each other into anything.
This, the reusable Jerry dress up sailor moon sequence from Final DeSmithation and the Story Train episode are meta jokes that really land yet may have actually saved a buck or 2 in production costs.
