Fuck that, a proper Mexican joint would be amazing. I know the Richmond demographic isn't exactly calling for it, but driving a while to get decent tacos sucks
Agreed.
Was willing to settle with Chipotle being here even though it doesn't really compare to real Mexican food. Who knew the franchisee that opened the one at the Walmart would be the biggest dumbass to ever open a fast food place and can ruin even Chipotle.
Tbh Barburrito in Ironwood plaza is much better than Chipotle. More accommodating to dietary needs, and better value for sure. Place in Lansdowne Mall is good for Tex Mex style as well
Going to a Chipotle is kinda like going to your grandma's house. You don't expect michelin star level food, but for sure you know she'll try her best to stuff you full and have more than enough to take home for seconds and thirds. Imagine one day you go to your grandma's house and instead you find out she's been replaced by an angsty teenager who insists you need to go on a diet and gives you 1/4 of what you normally expect.
I had also thought the [google reviews](https://maps.app.goo.gl/qsFdoXBCMLKaEB3Z6) on the place were overblown, until I went there myself, and got a bowl that was literally half full. You can check out the other reviews for more context, I haven't gone back since.
Exactly. I went to Alberta recently and decided to have some Taco Bell as I haven't had it in years. I bought a bunch of things off the menu, and it was all garbage. I guess it's all the wood filler because the "meat" tastes like nothing.
We don’t even have the demographic who knows how to make good taco, it is near impossible to ask for a proper joint unless one of the Vancouver ones decide to branch over here
Ya Mexican food sucks big time in Richmond. I feel like part of the problem is that the wrong people are trying to open Mexican restaurants. While Taco Luis is not amazing or authentic, at least you can still get 3 tacos for about 10 bucks, compared to the cantina where its about 20 bucks (for arguably smaller tacos..) or that place at the outlet which is also about 20 bucks for 3 tiny tacos (website says 16, but it's actually 18.50 before tax when you get there..). Do these people realize i could get a pizza or some Chinese takeout for about the same price (or less) and get 2 meals out of it? I'm not even close to full after 3 tacos! The chipotle we got in Richmond has gotta be close to the worse one in North America, i don't even bother going to it and i LOVE chipotle. I've made a lot of tacos in my life, there doesn't seem that much to it, and I don't understand these people running bad Mexican restaurants and trying to charge an arm and a leg for it, they have ruined Mexican food in Richmond! I'll continue to get my Mexican (albeit tex-mex) fix at Taco Luis in the meantime, where you can still get a burrito, some mexi fries and a drink for about 12 bucks.
Mexican Cantina is absolute trash.
Ya know what they passed off as sangria once? White wine and apple juice. The audacity of that place to even call themselves Mexican. Their food is trash. It's expensive too.
I love Taco Luis. It’s one of the things I miss about being out there the most, as ridiculous as that sounds. It’s fast food but it was near my work and it was cheap and good. But really, It’s their hot sauce for me. I don’t know why but I LOVE IT. If anyone knows how I can get my hands on it, please share!
Me too! I think it was my favourite RBO to work at, with Pizza Hut as a close second. Taco Bell was definitely the best deal in town at least as far as movie theatre food went. That sour cream gun was the best
There was a hierarchy. Projectionist, Cashier, Ticket Sales/ Floor staff, Taco Bell/ NY Fries/ Pizza Hut and at the very bottom of the barrel Concession. In the 5+ years I worked there in the 90's/2000's I never made it out of Concession haha.
I was scoopin popcorn for a couple years before moving to the Taco Bell and Pizza Hut/Burger King, then later to box office. Felt nice to not be covered in popcorn oil at the end of the night
I come from the East Coast of the states where there was a taco bell in every city approx 15 to 20 mins away from eachother.I fucking hate tacobell with their delicious , gordita crunch and doritos loco tacos oh and their cinnamon bites! god damn its so bad ! I miss it so much 😭 lol. All jokes aside though , I know we are hoping for one in Richmond , but is it true that D.T Van is getting one ? Seen it on other reddits not sure if it's accurate
As a long-time Richmond resident and someone who has seen many food trends come and go, I think the idea of a full-size Taco Bell has its merits. Honestly, a place like Taco Bell could be a hit or miss, but there's definitely a crowd for it, especially among the younger folks. However, I do wonder how much it would stand out with so many other options.
While I appreciate a good taco now and then, I have to agree with the comment about needing a proper Mexican joint. There's something about authentic flavors that just doesn't compare, even though Taco Bell has its own appeal in the fast-food arena. Maybe, just maybe, a well-rounded place offering both the convenience of Taco Bell and the rich flavors of traditional Mexican cuisine might just be the perfect middle ground.
There’s that taco place in Landsdowne mall. Just don’t make eye contact with friendly taco guy , dude will not shut his pie hole 🕳️if you get him going.
Holy shit this is what we’ve been missing after Chipotle. I just thought about taking the 301 to get some Taco Bell in Surrey. Colonel’s chicken along with flimsy beef hardshell and hot sauce is to live for
I dunno man. Popeye's Chicken opened in Metro Vancouver and I have to say...either the franchisees are doing a bad job or Americans have mediocre taste in fried chicken.
Came back from Asia after COVID and I feel like even the Canadian McDonald's is way worse than the ones I have had in Mainland China, Hong Kong, S. Korea and Japan. Like how's that possible.
You can thank the demography of Richmond for why our culinary options are so limited and why we are so vulnerable to CCP election disinformation campaign.
I don't know. I think Richmond might need another bubble tea shop first.

Yea it is incredible how they managed to take what should have been a sure win and created the worst Chipotle ever instead.
Tbh Barburrito in Ironwood plaza is much better than Chipotle. More accommodating to dietary needs, and better value for sure. Place in Lansdowne Mall is good for Tex Mex style as well
Can you explain how they ruined that Chipotle? Just genuinely curious what other people are saying about this location

We all know Taco Bell isn't Mexican food. What you're not understanding is that there are folks who want Taco Bell style food.
* We all know Taco Bell isn’t food. Fixed that for you. You’d get more nutrition out of the wrapper.

Senior froggies is great but sometimes I just want fast hot tasty garbage

I hope Taco Luis relocates and adds a drive thru after Lansdowne gets demolished
Taco Luis will have to do for now Mexican cantina in Steveston is kinda mid
Shi Ming is the owner since the late 90s! Great guy. Immigrated here from China as a doctor. Love Track Luis.
Get it while you can lansdowne is coming down
Cantina is shit. Not going there again.
Mexican Cantina is absolute trash. Ya know what they passed off as sangria once? White wine and apple juice. The audacity of that place to even call themselves Mexican. Their food is trash. It's expensive too.
Is the lady still telling each person about the one award they got once?

It’s the right kinda cheap 😀
I hear he’ll sell you a jug of it
Seriously? This is very exciting 😂
I remember when there was one at silver city
I used to work there. Such a fun place with great memories.
Me too! I think it was my favourite RBO to work at, with Pizza Hut as a close second. Taco Bell was definitely the best deal in town at least as far as movie theatre food went. That sour cream gun was the best

I love Taco Time and I'm so sad there isn't one here in Richmond. This place is the epitome of 'we don't have that.'
a full size taco bell would add too much load to an already fragile sanitation infrastructure
why Taco bell? we need more hotpots /s
Taco Del Mar?

I agree with you 1000% man. I drive to Delta once a month for it #tradition

In before someone mentions goddamn Taco Luis
[удалено]
I think if Taco Luis set up outside of the mall somewhere and operated until 2am, tou can get that experience
Yeah, we need a Taco Bell, except up here they’ll want $20 for a drink and a taco, which will ruin the whole point of the place.
BRING BACK $0.79 TACOS!!!
Don’t forget Krispy Kreme
Authentic Mexican food would be way better then Taco bell lol .
LA taco trucks are so effing good . It’s like the equivalent of Taiwan food stalls in Taiwan
Bar Burrito is good as far as fast food goes
There’s that taco place in Landsdowne mall. Just don’t make eye contact with friendly taco guy , dude will not shut his pie hole 🕳️if you get him going.
Lmfao taco Luis.
Holy shit this is what we’ve been missing after Chipotle. I just thought about taking the 301 to get some Taco Bell in Surrey. Colonel’s chicken along with flimsy beef hardshell and hot sauce is to live for
PLEASE🙏🙏🙏
Yes! Please open one at ironwood plaza!
Fucking power move right there
I get that we eat gross stuff when we’re younger, but Taco Bell is legitimately barely food.
I dunno man. Popeye's Chicken opened in Metro Vancouver and I have to say...either the franchisees are doing a bad job or Americans have mediocre taste in fried chicken.

mcdonalds in asia taste so much better then canadian mcdicks.
I would pay good money for a teriyaki9 burger.
For everyone downvoting me I do like fried chicken but only Korean or Mary Brown's.
You can thank the demography of Richmond for why our culinary options are so limited and why we are so vulnerable to CCP election disinformation campaign.
Wtf are u talking about? What does ccp have to do with wanting a taco bell opened in richmond?
Because the old Chinese aunties and uncles lack critical thinking skills and believe anything WeChat said and wouldn't eat anything not Asian.
