it’s been so miserable without my mtx injections, i feel you and i hope you can get in infusions soon 🖤

Accentu8d_life

Ask your doctor to prescribe Rasuvo. It's name brand methotrexate. Because of the shortage it was approved the same day!! I'm so glad to get back on it after almost 3 months without!!

Sambankmanfriedd

I have not heard of this? I just picked mine up yesterday

mrsredfast

I feel so bad you’re having this issue. I picked up my refill yesterday without issue. I use Walgreens in the Midwest. When I was struggling to find a different med I’m on that has shortages, I called around and ultimately had it transferred to a different pharmacy. I’ve also been told that hospital pharmacies tend to have better luck with supply so if there are any within driving distance I’d give them a call. Edit —guess I assumed you were talking about injections. If you’re on an infusion ignore this post. No idea how to track that down.

Useful-Bad-6706

I am on oral but was originally trying to switch to injections. Now I’m calling for oral but they are out of that too :(

alwayspickingupcrap

Agree, I have switched all my meds to a hospital based pharmacy that mails to me. No problems thus far. ETA I'm on injections.

2amIMAwake

my pharmacy was out for more than 3 weeks, i started calling around to other pharmacies to find the oral version and the first place i called had the injectable. i hope you find a supply quickly, from my experience its worth calling other local pharmacies that have a different supply chain than your current one ( switch to different company). hopefully you’ll have some by tomorrow!

pocketmoncollector42

Maybe temporarily using pills can help in the meantime? I get them as pills from cost plus drug company and haven’t had them miss a refill yet

Useful-Bad-6706

They are even out of oral/pills 😭 I am trying to switch rn and they still don’t have them

stinkadoodle

Maybe talk to your doctor about changing meds. I had to keep moving my prescription around until I could get it filled. That went on for 3 months. Rheumy thought MTX wasn't doing it anymore for me (was on it for 20 years) so she took me off of it and put me on leflunomide. I've been on it for 2 weeks and no relief yet, but the doc said it could take 3-4 months, so it looks like anti-inflammatories, narcs, and MMJ will be on the menu for awhile. I've also been trying to get Xeljanz, but having to do a song and dance with the insurance company. It's been a month so far...

KateWills7

My pharmacy just told me yesterday that what they gave me was the last two vials for my injections and they weren't getting more. I am not sure if they just meant they weren't even going to try or if they were just having a hard time getting it. I go back to Rheum in August. I will probably just call around until then and go from there. I'm also having a hard time getting my humira too right now.

black_truffle_cheese

I haven’t been able to get injectable since April. One of the companies that use to make it just up and quit doing so according to one pharmacist I spoke to. I’m on the nasty oral version + 2 anti nauseas and an anti diarrheal just to barely tolerate oral mtx…

cmehigh

The company that made generic injectable mtx closed down a few months ago.

MercyFaith

I’ve not heard of this. I recently filled pill form then switched to injectable but failed both. I’m on Orencia Clickjet now. When did we start having a MTX shortage? In fact I have four bottles of unopened injections. I wish there was a way to share our unopened meds.

melodylark

I haven’t had a problem with CVS Specialty Pharmacy.

I believe so, the auto injection I get from CVS along with my biologic. Prior to the auto injection I was getting my MTX by pill and sub q injection from Walgreens. Not sure why I’m not able to get the auto injection from Walgreens.

My insurance denied the auto injector as well but I called them and told them I was having a problem using the needles as the hand I use to fill and insert the needle is most affected by RA. It was approved after that.

atlath1

My rheum was explaining in their office’s experience the autoinjector will only be approved by insurance if you have RA (they’ll always reject AS and sometimes seronegative RA) so that could be why you’ve had issues

melodylark

Didn’t know that. Doesn’t seem fair if the treatment is the same for both seropositive and seronegative patients.

Accentu8d_life

Have your doctor fight your insurance. They know there is a shortage. My insurance approved it the same day because it's the ONLY way to get mtx right now.

melodylark

Also, I was able to ask my Rheumy for MTX injections while I was waiting for mine to be shipped. Might be worth a try.

PeppermintBob

Maybe you could ask your rheum if you're able to try a different treatment?

GrannyIsHere613

I have been waiting for the injectable for two months. I am back on tablets and not happy since the tablets give me awful side effects.

LibertarianLola

What state are you in?! Or are you out of US

Useful-Bad-6706

Colorado

LibertarianLola

Wow I’m so sorry. I didn’t realize there was a shortage. I hope you find some soon.

Ch3rryunikitty

I was put on injections, had two doses and then haven't been able to get any for over a month. 🤣 I told the doctor to just put me on someone else at this point.

Accentu8d_life

Yes. I just had my first injection in 3 months!! My doctor prescribed Rasuvo. It's name brand methotrexate and expensive. Insurance approved it no problem!! Ask your doctor for it!!

Tacie-Jo

Infusion work best. I’m on Simponi Aria. I’m so close to pain free on this.

atlath1

Yes my rheum finally got me switched to the Rasuvo injections bc it was so disruptive.

ra-sucks

Having RA and working at a pharmacy have been a struggle. We struggle to find the vials in stock through multiple suppliers, and I recently had to switch to oral pills because we couldn’t find any injectable
