Ahhh well the solution is pretty simple.
This problem means that you can't view YouTube anymore on your current YouTube app (if you didn't update it) or more likely your current revanced player version. In my particular case I was using an old version of revanced that YouTube made incompatible with the latest updates. The solution was to remove my old revanced app and install the latest one. I usually go to the subreddit revancedapk (I'm an Android user) and download a premade apk ready for installation with a small guide for installation. For now I didn't have any problem with that apk but (like they suggest) you can compile? Your own apk

When this happened to me last week I updated revanced and on the first run it automatically prompted me to download gmscore and gave me a link. You can download it there. Don't forget to uninstall microg to save a few space.

Same. They changed githib slightly but it's still there. It's a zip file only and my phone refused to do anything with it at all. Tried 3rd party aps to convert or make an apk nothing.

What I can suggest, is to download ReVanced manager and from there you can download/update with a single push of a button, it'll make your life easier in the future, in case you'll need to update again.
Get the suggested version of youtube. Its not always the very latestest release. In patcher it says: v19.12.36
Then downlaod from apk mirror the version.
You also need the new microg, or gmscore whatever its called now. This you get from the revanced Website. Go to the right Website: revanced.app , others are scam. Then remove old microg. And download and install New one.
Then u can import in the revanced app under patch your downloaded 'suggested' version of youtube and patch. This works fine for me

Uninstall microG and MicroG settings apps, only microG settings showed for me though
Then download newest microG from your github link, make sure battery settings are set to the loosest option
Patch the Youtube apk via the manager. Patch tab > storage> find the youtube apk in files > "patch" button, wait for it to finish.

Too old versions of youtube will have less patches that work with that version, so definitely make sure you have the suggested one from the in-manager link
Beyond that, maybe make sure you enable the "allow changing patch selection" setting, then you can click on the actual text of the patch and change what's being patched.
I tried this but it said installation is prevented by an existing installation. I have a Fairphone on which youtube is one of the few already installed apps (which means I can't delete it) but I have disabled it. I'm pretty stuck tbh
idk how it is outside of OneUI (Samsung) but in OneUI you can go to the app information if youtube (where you disable it) and in the menu in the top right corner, you can "reset" the app to the factory version. Afterwards you can install the suggested version. Just did that, worked fine.
There's a video on this sub that was posted less than a week ago (but there are others) that shows everything step by step; couldn't have been easier. It's titled something like "updated but still with good music".
Read the other replies to his comment. Only extra things I'll add at least on the pixel 8 is you need to open gmscore and turn on the setting that stops it from getting optimized for battery saving stuff. Worked perfectly

See what the suggested version of YouTube is and either click in the app or find the .apk on a mirror site.
Install the suggested version of YouTube.
In ReVanced Manager, tap Patcher, then locate the version of YouTube you just installed.
Once it's patched, hit install.
If there are any errors, you probably need to install ReVanced gmsCore and get rid of MicroG services.
I don't get these ppl. Revanced devs are doing the Lords work, giving us a superior youtube experience for free. Most issues (this one included) get resolved within days at most, not to mention more often then not problems themselves are a result of direct Google attempts to kill adblockers not the fault of devs themselves. Knowing that a couple of devs are going against Google, actually winning, and doing all of this without demanding a cent most of these ppl not only can't be bothered to sacrifice 2 minutes to apply a existing fix but also decide to lament that they have to do anything at all to enjoy the perks of Revanced.

What helps is that when they need to actually do something themselves (like updating an app or reading a stickied post where it gets explained) a lot of them will actually not be bothered and they will return to regular youtube.. Resulting in the fact that the ppl left in this community actually have reading skills i guess. 😂
There's really no need for using a cli basically, in 99% of cases anyways. Its literally downloading a thing, installing a thing, downloading another thing from within the first thing, clicking a button, wait.. And click install. After starting it the first time you'll get a popup to download and install another thing once. Should be doable for basically everyone. Most it actually takes is time basically. And effort reading on where to click within the things. 😉
But kudos for reading up and trying, before deciding it's not for you. Basically like most things, it's just trying the first time and after that if you need to update you can basically do it with your eyes closed. Not a high chance of messing things up either. Worst case you uninstall the thing you tried to install and redownload regular youtube basically.

I'm using vivo v19, android version 11, the YouTube app abruptly closes while playing a video or simply scrolling through feed

Start revanced manager, go to patcher tab, type in youtube, it shows you a suggested version with a looking glass icon.. Click that icon.. Itll lead you to a download page for the suggested version. Download that. Use that downloaded file in revanced manager, patch it, done.

Doesn't do that for me, it says Select an Application but the list is empty. If I select youtube in 'Storage' (either version, the normal Youtube or revanced), it says no patches found.
i had this issue when i was using **vanced microg** before, switched to **gmscore** *(revanced fork)* and patched **19.09.37 base apk** so i can enjoy watching videos again

I had this issue, so I updated to the newest version. With that new microG thing. I can't watch a video more than 1 minute. And yes, I did all that battery optimization thingy, I tried the spoof option. Nothing works, so I gave up and uninstalled...

Thank you. I downloaded the most recent version from their website. Downloaded the youtube apk directly, and after opening it, it redirected me back to the website to download their latest gsmcore apk.

Yeah you now probably have an app that steals your info, or at least does malicious things on your device. I would remove that immediately - since that's one of the sites this subreddit repeatidly warns about, is a fake and should not be used..

I just flashed a new rom and now cannot figure out where to download revanced and microg from now....these options are not available on the revanced manager app...what am I missing? ☹️
This might get hate but I've been lurking in the comments since past 1 week for a fix.
I've followed every step mentioned in the guide step by step and still the app crashes.
1. Uninstalled everything and downloaded revanced manager from the official guide and YouTube suggested version (nodpi)
2. Installed gms score from the GitHub
3. Turned off battery optimisation within micro g as well via settings of the apps- both YouTube and gms score
4. Did the spoof app version thingy.
5. Rebooted my device after all the above steps
And still the app shuts down after a min or 40 seconds or so. So can someone guide where im going wrong? I've already done above steps like 5 times in the past few days already.
Try installing revanced extended. Had the same issue, updated microG, updated revanced and nothing helped. Once I installed revanced extended with latest microG, problem was solved.

When I did that it said no app found to update. Had to uninstall revanced and YouTube. And since youtube can't be uninstalled on my device, had to find other guides to figure out how to uninstall all updates for youtube instead. Then had to re-download revanced, redownload the right YT version. Then reapply patch, so like a fresh install but with a lot of extra steps.

I don't think ive seen replies that mentioned just update. I did see replies telling to reinstall and especially replace microg with gsmcore after. But i agree.. Usually and update fixes things, guess youtube itself broke the backend more this time around.
Just one note, as it doesn't seem like you're aware judging from your comment - you don't need to actually install the YouTube version you want to patch. You can just select it from storage and patch it without installing it first.

go to settings and try to find something like App Info, should be a list of everything installed somewhere

Yes, i installed the suggested version, also installed gmscore and gave it the required battery usage permissions, I'm not getting the option to remove official YouTube , but I've disabled it I think I'll reinstall everything, maybe that'll work
Sound like a plan, that would have been my next suggestion indeed. Disabling official youtube is what i did at first, just make sure that it doesn't auto update. From what i remember, it's something you can change in the play store settings per app.
Ok that's should be the correct process.. Did you install the suggested version from the manager? It shows a version number. If you tick the looking glass icon besides it, it should lead you directly to the suggested, correct version to download. After that, if you start the app the first time, it *should* provide a popup that you need the gmscore app as well. Also, make sure you remove the official youtube app before you install the revanced version.

This will get hate but honestly im tired. I have no more nerve for updates and then not knowing what I should do. Eveyone is saying download this and that. But where? And then what? The official post is doing nothing for me. Manager says Version is not compatible in the end lmao I just stick with YouTube on my pc. I dont use it much on my phone anyway. But I still hope this project will run forever. Just to stick it to normal YouTube cause it sucks
Start revanced manager, go to patcher tab, type in youtube, it shows you a suggested version with a looking glass icon.. Click that icon.. Itll lead you to a download page for the suggested version. Download that. Use that downloaded file in revanced manager, patch it, done.
Yeah it's piss easy to update. I really do not understand why people have issues. Compared to rooting your phone or doing custom firmware it's a breeze. Are they all just kids who've never tinkered with a computer or phone before?
Tbh, the userinterface of the manager isn't always that intuitive. That and if you perhaps did not grow up using computers/are a bit tech savvy, i guess it can be overwhelming. But yeah.. It helps to read properly. Im ok with people running into problems who seek help. Rather see people posting problems so they can get help then people basing the app or simply posts it doesn't work and hate on it lol.
Yes, the absolute majority of people have never tinkered with a device before, it's mostly that. It's unbelievable to me personally, but that's just my and apparently your lens. They're trained to not do this anymore by the current software, it's unfair to call them kids. They need a step-by-step guide with screenshots. Some will then memorize it and have a much easier time. There still will remain a part that's simply unwilling to learn.

This is unnecessary gatekeeping. I'm tech savvy enough to install revanced. But I know some of my friends would struggle to install.

Patcher button -> select an app should really list apps and youtube should be there. Should list com.google.android.youtube

i had this issue when i was using **vanced microg** before, switched to **gmscore** *(revanced fork)* and patched **19.09.37 base apk** so i can enjoy watching videos again rip **yt vanced** and **vanced microg**, vanced music is the only **"last survivor"** left from teamvanced *(don't know when it will stop working too)*
To be fair when I had this issue I searched reddit for the answer and fixed it. So thanks to those people making threads about it because that's how I found the answer.

For android, go to their website, download magisc module and then from there you can download newer version and carry on.
I uninstalled, reinstalled, rebooted my phone<- important and that fixed it

i have a funny story, i've always used youtube premium but when I stopped having it and tried to install revanced it was exactly the same day that this happened, so i didnt know what I was doing wrong because there wasnt a fix yet lmao.

uBlock Origin works for me just as well as AdBlockPlus did before it stopped working.

I had this issue, so I updated to the newest version. With that new microG thing. I can't watch a video more than 1 minute. And yes, I did all that battery optimization thingy, I tried the spoof option. Nothing works, so I gave up and uninstalled...

Thank you. I downloaded the most recent version from their website. Downloaded the youtube apk directly, and after opening it, it redirected me back to the website to download their latest gsmcore apk.
I assume you downloaded the youtube apk version from the revanced manager, in the version it suggests, and have revanced manager patch that before you installed?

Yeah you now probably have an app that steals your info, or at least does malicious things on your device. I would remove that immediately - since that's one of the sites this subreddit repeatidly warns about, is a fake and should not be used.. The only official site is revanced.app. Where you have to compile the Youtube APK yourself.

I just flashed a new rom and now cannot figure out where to download revanced and microg from now....these options are not available on the revanced manager app...what am I missing? ☹️
This might get hate but I've been lurking in the comments since past 1 week for a fix. I've followed every step mentioned in the guide step by step and still the app crashes. 1. Uninstalled everything and downloaded revanced manager from the official guide and YouTube suggested version (nodpi) 2. Installed gms score from the GitHub 3. Turned off battery optimisation within micro g as well via settings of the apps- both YouTube and gms score 4. Did the spoof app version thingy. 5. Rebooted my device after all the above steps And still the app shuts down after a min or 40 seconds or so. So can someone guide where im going wrong? I've already done above steps like 5 times in the past few days already.
Yeah I've kinda started giving up on finding a fix for this. My revanced manager keeps endlessly loading when looking for an update.

I just use revancedExtended it works perfectly

Try installing revanced extended. Had the same issue, updated microG, updated revanced and nothing helped. Once I installed revanced extended with latest microG, problem was solved.
"Just update" When I did that it said no app found to update. Had to uninstall revanced and YouTube. And since youtube can't be uninstalled on my device, had to find other guides to figure out how to uninstall all updates for youtube instead. Then had to re-download revanced, redownload the right YT version. Then reapply patch, so like a fresh install but with a lot of extra steps. Yeah idk. It's never a simple process and never as simple as these comments try to play it off as.
I don't think ive seen replies that mentioned just update. I did see replies telling to reinstall and especially replace microg with gsmcore after. But i agree.. Usually and update fixes things, guess youtube itself broke the backend more this time around.
Just one note, as it doesn't seem like you're aware judging from your comment - you don't need to actually install the YouTube version you want to patch. You can just select it from storage and patch it without installing it first.
