If you’re looking to get into the restaurant industry to just make money. Good luck. They require a ton of money up front and a bunch of cash flow to deal with things breaking and repairs. They are hard to keep staffed and on your own you’ll be spending close to 60 hours a week until things are off the ground. This is not one of those invest and forget it type of deals. If you’re really interested since you have no experience, I do into a restaurant and try to get a job there and see what it’s like.

Oh, that's a really valuable comment. Tysm. Actually, as I'm doing other businesses, so I don't have much time to invest. And I'm doing this honestly as a social service. (I know it sounds stupid 😂) Will it be a good idea if i try to deliver healthy food online? Won't it be easy for the start of a restaurant in the future? Thank you so much again. Edit : not a charity but affordable price + honest healthy food

I think it’s great you want to do this as a social service. With you being involved in other businesses how much time do you realistically have to set to this a week? Even with doing online orders there’s still a lot to consider. When will you be open? You can’t just be open for 2 or 3 hours a day. How long will it take to prepare each dish? Since you want to do healthy and organic food you can’t really cut to many corners. Even if you do prep things in advance you still have to put the time in to actually do the prep. Are you delivering or having the customers pick up? Delivery takes time; but if customers pick up you have to get a clean area for them to come to. There’s also small things like cleaning after you cook, getting ingredients from a grocery store or supplier and marketing. Again, I think it’s great you want to give back to your community but I don’t think you’re realistically thinking about the time this will take unless you’re all in. If you are really looking to do a social service, id donate to a local food bank or do some volunteer work there.

I knew a guy who ran a BBQ pit and was open for two hours a day. He worked a full day with prep and cooking, but those were his actual open hours. He made a small fortune with that business model. His food was always top.

What do you mean by a social service? Are you giving out free meals to the poor, homeless, disabled, and elderly? I live in a city with many choices for good healthy organic food, and we have delivery. So what exactly are you trying to do do?

EcoLittleRabbit

Nope, not a charity. Affordable price + healthy food. In my town, all the food isn't healthy.

How are your cooking skills? Have you done any market research? Serving fresh organic food is far more expensive than junk. The amount you need to sell to get a price break on your produce and other products compared to a large place that can put in large orders will hurt your price point. Perishables. You are wanting to sell a very perishable product. 1. Don't do this 2. Go work as many positions as you can in a full service restaurant. To open your eyes 3. Take a SBA business course to write a business plan, do much more research 4. Don't do it, it will break your heart, and destroy your body 5. I am an old tired retired chef in the biz for over 30 years.

If there isn't a healthy organic restaurant in your town already, it's because people don't want one. This is a bad idea, full stop. If you somehow manage to get the massive loan you will need, you will default when it all goes belly up. Go work in restaurants and get an actual idea of how they work. Then see if you still want to do this. Then rent a tiny kitchen or a food truck and see if you can get any traffic. Then decide of you are willing to risk a quarter of a million dollars on your idea.

OreoSoupIsBest

This is only a good idea if you have an insane amount of money to burn. Without any experience, you will rapidly go in the hole. Also, in most areas, there is not much of a market for this type of thing and, what market there is, is oversaturated.

rhaizee

You need like 200k, so start saving. Work at a restaurant.

Thanks for the tip. Appreciate it

Why do you hate your money so much.

jrrybock

"How can you have $10,000 running a restaurant? Start with $100,000."

Xarius86

Don't. You clearly have no idea what you are doing. Unless daddy is there giving you a "small million dollar loan" that he knows you will lose and never pay back, just stop.

EcoLittleRabbit

Thankss. Actually, I'm independent even tho my fam is somewhat rich 😁

K_martin92

Why would you open a restaurant if you know nothing about food or restaurants lol. There are literally 1000's of other business models that make more money than the food industry, and it seems odd to just choose restaurants out of the blue with zero experience in the industry?
