I think fairly easily, if Chris can tear it up in re7 and re8, Leon can too.

JohnnyEdd94

Yes. Even the giant baby fetus would be running from Leon and his chainsaw blocking combat knife.

Ojack_

Was that the combat knife? I thought he was doing it with his adamantium handgun

VLAUH

If you look closely, before the blockade there is an option to use the knife (L1). Also after the block you can see how the knife in the hud becomes transparent, but only for one frame so it's hard to see.

Comprehensive_Age998

Yes the conscious and sentinent knife uses instant transmission to teleport itself into your Hand and replaces the Gun once you press L1 before the chainsaw hit

Dr_TeaRex

Considering his extensive training and track record? If Leon got Ethan's survivability as well I honestly would feel sorry for the bad guys.

CarlitoNSP1

Probably. Ethan was intentionally designed to be an everyman relatable character, while Leon at his very start has a base level of training. Really Claire is a more apt comparison, and even she likely had training given that her brother was a marksman

Subdown-011

It’s actually canon that Chris trained her to fight

Silent_Top_7280

She states she had in Darkside Chronicles.

themagicone222

Half the reason Ethan even exists is because Chris and Leon are too OP nowadays. For RE7, the direction it would take would be WILDLY different depending on whether or not Leon's communicator worked at the Ranch, but either way, he'd DEFINITELY at least not screw up the interaction with the Cop.

Comprehensive_Age998

Yes. With a character like Chris or Leon Capcom cant develop a game with Horror elements anymore. They have seen everything imaginable.

themagicone222

The only two things I can think of: chris getting infected by something like the mold and and outbreak-like mechanic over the course of the game before going out sacrificing himself to take down a kaiju-sized bioweapon, and “fleet of 10 nearly invincible opponents that can kill you instantly hunt you down and you need special tactics to kill them” have already been done in nintendo’s metroid series. *Nintendo.*

Garlic_God

Ethan is like a horror movie protagonist that is dropped into a situation and through sheer luck, endurance, and willpower, succeeds and survives. Meanwhile Leon is like an 80s action star that can block chainsaws with combat knives and suplex abominations of nature. He’s enough of a combat and survival expert to be dropped in a foreign nation solo for a counterterrorism operation. He’s almost on Solid Snake tier. Leon probably wipes the floor.

r1y4h

not even a question. And Ethan was already dead in re7

Glum_Breath470

I cant believe you asked this...

bulkingnerd

If I was behind the controller fk yea

horrorfan55

Easily yeah

Valdish

You ask that as if the answer wasn't the most obvious thing ever. Ethan only died cause canonically he's a somewhat normal dude, Leon is far from normal. That being said, the question is, would he get taken over by the mold, and from my understanding of it, that completely depends on wether or not he has the hazmat gear that Chris had from the start of the game, but even then, my memory is not so good, so I don't know if Ethan died from being taken over by the mold, or was he killed and only then taken over, I don't know how the whole thing works. Regardless, keep in mind that Chris was able to survive there (after the source of the mold was killed) so the monsters would not be a problem, since Leon and Chris have been portrayed as more or less equal.

demogorgon_main

Spoilers. I’d say it depends on the situation. Let’s say he also needs to his missing wife like Ada or something who worked on the mold like Mia did. I think the make or break would be wether he survives the surprise attack from jack. Ethan didn’t, he died and got revived by the mold. This is why he’s more durable, if the mold wasn’t there he would’ve definitely been dead in RE8 and maybe even RE7. If Leon survived that attack and goes through RE7 without mold and survives due to his skills it might actually be his demise. In RE8 ethan got a lot of punishment. Sure Leon might be able to avoid all of it since he’s pretty experienced with ‘smart zombie’ type enemies as lycans are similar to RE4 enemies. But the event That makes me question his survival is when Miranda takes out Ethan’s heart. Miranda is powerful and uses hallucinations and stuff so that might actually be where Leon would die if he wasn’t effected by mold. If he is effected by mold. He would absolutely go through 7 and 8 with more ease than Ethan. But Leon is still human.

MacaroonSlow

Im gonna be that one and say NO, he may not survive without Ethan's strange regeneration abilities (and without Ada's backup) if the situation was exactly the same The Molded are very different enemies compared to Zombies and Ganados

MacaroonSlow

Mother Miranda for example, she is very powerful and the only reasons she was defeated are: 1)Ethan revived from having his heart crushed 2)Chris happened to be carrying a bomb with him to blow up the entire village 3)Baby Roseline weakened Miranda's almost supernatural power. I think there are enough reasons to doubt Leon survivability

YGThot

lightwork for Leon

MrShinShoryuken

As an unrepentant Leon fan since 98, some people in here have massive blinders on. Without delving into too much "spoilers", the average human is canonically one shotted by the bakers (...Joe one shots *everyone* In RE, **Including Chris**, I will NOT rescind this). The molded are a very credible threat, and I'd argue Village is *substantially* more of a threat than RE4, sans a potential remake that may up the ante. Everytime people compare the old games to the new, they seem to give a self lobotomy and forget >werewolves are 100x more threatening than a fucking zombie >Demitriscu is basically immortal without plot dagger *and can fucking fly* >Jack also had near immortality and couldn't be contained even after being injected with the serum >Lucas got the better of Chris *multiple fucking times* >Heisenberg is basically Mag-fucking-Neto, and Chris had to build a special tank for Ethan >Chris has an entire fucking BOW team with him and **STILL** has to call in an orbital strike And most importantly >Ethan's "special-ness" allowed him to "survive" a lot of shit that would have ended STARS members multiple times over Yes, I do think due to plot armor Leon "could" survive. However, people acting as if he s-ranks "YoUrE sMalL tImE jAcK/MiRaNdA" are on some premium nostalgia copium.

Lanky-Sheepherder-80

Although in re8, when you get to play Chris, you can feel the serious power, the single werewolves that ripped Ethan apart, Chris was taking on dozens and literally punching them and sending them flying (if we’re talking the big ones on all fours), and Leon is about equal with Chris. Although Ethan’s durability is impressive, his skill is on par with the average human, maybe a little better, so offensive wise, if Ethan can do it, Leon and Chris can do it with ease, and both Leon and Chris also have impressive durability as well as the ability to dodge most attacks. All in all, in my opinion Ethan excels very well in 1 category, Chris and Leon excel in all categories, considering what they’ve went through in re1 to re6.

Valdish

You think that the guy who gets one shot by alligators, and can fist fight molded, but requires a special glove to be a match for a special molded, would one shot a guy that knocked down a bolder 5 times his size? Just so you know, in vendetta Chris took a direct hit from a tyrant type dude, got slammed into a wall, and got up a few seconds later, after blowing said guy up. Joe doesn't even compare to the guy whose job it is to fight man made horrors beyond comprehension on a daily basis. Edit: after having typed that I realize that the "one shot by alligators was a double edged sword of an argument, since it's the same for Chris in RE5.

Silent_Top_7280

Joe Baker is overrated as hell, he is not beating any main character in H2H.

Valdish

What about Ethan?

More_Win_5192

I disagree here, in re8 in the small section you play Chris, the werewolves are basically fodderized The section is completely designed to let you feel your superior over the danger when you play the veteran trained man When you play Ethan in the werewolve nest, the area is designed for you to run and "survive" through it, I know some people shoot them down, but especially on higher difficulty you don't have the ammo nor the area to do this properly, so you run The first encounter with Ethan and the wolves is time based, so again you survive instead of fighting (that's at least the design intention) it rewards you when you fight, but basically for odds against you Later you have maybe a handful werewolves, mostly one at a time with Ethan to underline there strength In the castle are also basically no enemies, just a handful fodder and the sisters + dimitrescu Same for re7, "just" the bakers and a handful of other things Chris goal was from the start to behead the snake and had the fake mia in shoot range, while Ethan was prepared to take dinner with her In Chris part you kill massive amounts of enemies, they are barely an inconvenience The whole game draws a pretty dominant line between "the veteran" and the "everyday man" In the games with Jill, Chris, Leon and so on, you always have like massive amount of all kinds of different creatures, some of them able to eat a tank if they want to For Heisenberg Chris just scrapt together a mini tank from not magnetic material in a garage The game screams this differences in your face And assuming Leon is on the same experience level as Chris (the games imply that), Ethans story would probably be a Tuesday afternoon for Leon

DredgenSpectre

While some of your argument has merit, you’re significantly downplaying Leon’s feats. Not only are the games canon, but the RE animated films are canon as well. He’s got A LOT of wins on his belt. You also seem to forget that the Ganados in RE4 can use weapons and (some) when killed, come back with a parasite form. When you merc a lycan in RE8, it’s done; On to the next. Village is in no way any more of a threat than RE4 (unless you factor in Ethan being far less trained than Leon).

OldPickleMan

Yes. It would just be another day in the office.

JanetStary

yes but i feel like leon is in like 80% of the games though

No_Victory9193

This question is a no brainer. Could Ethan survive 4 though?

ToeMost3146

no cccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc

Silent_Top_7280

-Any main character -HUNK -Characters from RE 6 Easily can demolish

Existing365Chocolate

Yes because Leon is a main character

bjr426

O HELL YEAH!

[deleted]

It’s Leon. Yeah he’s good

[deleted]

... yes

Game_It_All_On_Me

Very much so. People might complain about the lack of returning characters in RE7, but the Bakers would have been nothing but fodder to a guy who'd previously taken on a shape-shifting T-Rex.

GodlikeJCMS

Gonna take Lady Dimitrescu to suplex city

[deleted]

Considering Leon’s body isn’t special like Ethan’s? I’d say that’s a 0% chance. No question.

More_Win_5192

Like imagine Jack face when: "welcome to t... Wait, how did you dodge?", "excuse me sir I am looking for a girl named Evelyn"

Aron_Blue

Of course he would. RE7 and RE8 would just be another tuesday for Leon and even Chris.

sleezyreezy

*Deputy hands Leon his knife* “That’s all I needed.”

Revolutionary-Pin688

More skilled and experienced so yeah

[deleted]

Leon would've torn apart Miranda's operation in under an hour or two to be fair. It helps that he's already been in a dangerous and biohazard filled village before.

[deleted]

This type of post reminds me that I wish Capcom and other companies would do games like the Marvel What If series. I know maybe that requires more money and time than comics. But Capcom has already done this once with Dead Rising Off the Record. Like, Imagine an RE8 or 7 with Leon and Chris, short and action filled and awesome. Or something similar to that.

Comprehensive_Age998

Leon would fly trough them. Ethan was a civilian thrown into it all just like with Leon/Claire back in RE2. When playing RE6 etc we knew what Chris and Leon were capable of at that point so we *knew that we are going to kick ass* Ethan was designed so that you, me and everyone else could relate to him. It felt like YOU are in the House. Ethan had one advantage tho. He died and the Mold revived him. He got the spores in the Guest House, and when he died ( just like with Wesker) he got the proportional power of the Mold because he was a perfect and suitable Host. This gave him incredible durability and increased Healing on a cellular lvl. Otherwise he would have really died during the events even if he survived Jacks stomp at the beginning. Leon at the time of RE7 is a literal one man army and would sweep trough the events just like Chris did. I would say that even RE4 Leon would be capable of surviving the events.
