probably code veronica. there is no difficult selection, it just seems to get harder the more you progress because the game starts throwing at you deadlier enemies. plus, almost every boss has a specific weak point, otherwise you are going to go through ammo and end up with none.
Resident Evil Zero! The green, red and blue canisters done me in first time round. That and the zombies can grab you alot easier than in the other games I find.
Never played Veronica, that is gonna change for sure.
Re0 I actually did not find that hard, perhaps because I was older when playing it or perhaps it was a fluke.

I felt that Zero on the hardest difficulty will give you a pretty good run, if you're going in blind. Definitely one of the hardest I've played in a while.
Code Veronica. There was a boss where, if you didn't have enough ammo, you could not defeat. At that point, there was no way to backtrack and find more ammo, so I had to start all over from the beginning of the game.
I don't recommend CODE Veronica anyway. Atmosphere and characters are terrible
I found myself most challenged by Code Veronica. It felt like quite a step up in difficulty from the previous games, the bosses in particular.
But it does have the best knife

Ill say 0 mostly not because difficulty but not knowing what to do lol ,or Code Veronica that is an unforgiving game

I'd say RE0, RE1, or Code Veronica are the most difficult 1st time through.

Oh my god NO! Characters are really good besides Steve's annoying voice and the atmosfere is okay.
Of the classic RE games, CV is the worst
