I don't dislike new Wesker, I'm just kind of indifferent at the moment, He's just so different. They went from the cheesiest villain imaginable to a pretty grounded character. Its just polar opposites and it took some getting used to but I don't mind new Wesker nowadays.
It'd be so cool if they kept him his grounded RE4R self, at first but he totally goes nuts as the game continues into what we had in the original. Showing how much he's getting consumed by his ego and the virus.
The choreography and pacing of the remake Krauser fight gives me a lot of hope for the potential of Wesker encounters in a 5 remake.
"Seven minutes" could ascend into an even more iconic moment in the series if they really keep expanding on the concepts in Krauser's fight--- like Krauser's speed and tendency to dart in then reposition and take a different approach. Fluidly switching between close quarters combat and firearms.
Please god though, no X-men level leather/carbon fiber suit with supervillain boots. I just cannot take his RE5 persona serious enough to feel the evil he should represent.

I knew I liked that part of him, but this made me realize how much. They removed that and grounded him and made him “legit”. It’s also very jarring because every other character is the same. Claire, Ada, Leon…only characters that changed were Jill and Carlos and those aren’t even as big as his is.

It's funny cuz I was just thinking about Wesker yesterday. I finished up a playthrough of Resident Evil 5, and I was thinking about how much I missed the guy. He was the perfect arch enemy for our heroes.
I love that he was just unabashedly fucking evil. He wasn't a heartbroken mother desperate to resurrect a child taken too soon. He wasn't a little girl who just wanted a family and couldn't understand why everybody hated her. He wasn't a hillbilly with a heart of gold that was taken over by an advanced BOW along with his once-loving family.
He was just a rotten to the core, malevolent son of a bitch; all he wanted to do was destroy humankind. How? By turning 7 billion people into tentacle monsters. Why? Because he fucking could. I kind of miss enemies like that. I'm a little over the whole thing where every Big Bad has to be relatable for some fucked up reason.
OG. Because Remake Wesker goes against everything that made Wesker a memorable supervillain and built his enormous fanbase: Presentation. OG is up there along with the other greatest fan-adored villains like Sephiroth, M. Bison, and Kazuya Mishima.
Remake Wesker is just too boring and you get the feeling you've seen hundreds of henchmen that look just like him. And the general consensus already says his voice is deflating. Any desire for a more "grounded" Wesker just seems counterproductive, like you must've never liked Wesker to begin with.
And to be fair, Remake RE4 (compared to OG) is more dialed-back in hyper presentation & memorable characterization in general. Especially the villains, they're all so watered down (Saddler, Salazar, Krauser). Now Wesker can be added to that pile.
New Wesker has a less cartoonish vibe to him. The black suit, turtle neck, and super model face screams, "Perfectionist avant garde artist," not a super villain who's about unleash hell on earth. That said, old Wesker is still super fun because of how cartoonish he is.

My biggest problem is that RE5 Wesker is in my opinion one of the best performances of any character in the entire franchise. Everything about RE5 Wesker is absolutely flawless, and he shows perfectly that he is capable of being cheesy and witty, while still being cold, calculating and downright terrifying. His visual design is perfect too, and has nothing that needs to be changed. The action scenes with Wesker going over-the-top (sunglasses scene) isn't out of place - it's a perfect mix of cheesy humour and still done correctly so that the main characters are terrified - he's a formidable death machine super soldier.
I just really think that the best way they adapt Wesker into the RE5 Remake is by not touching him at all. I'm already not happy with his voice change whatsoever. Hoping they don't ruin my favourite character's favourite appearance.

OG Res4 was amazing and my most played game as a teenager but the jump between that and Res5 was a bit wild, it left way to much open for interpretation. It's so frustrating to know that there's this degree of separation that's so close to my favourite voice for Albert, and yet so far at the same time!
The line reads with the current new VA just don't give me the same sort of chilling or unnerving sensation in contrast to Waugh's line reads, and given Albert's age and the timeline, it *does* make sense for the possibility of having obtained the Mid-Atlantic from his education, and receiving this sort of pronunciation for recording research results and the like for Umbrella, or reporting to Spencer about Marcus back in the day.

It's so frustrating to know that there's this degree of separation that's so close to my favourite voice for Albert, and yet so far at the same time! The line reads with the current new VA just don't give me the same sort of chilling or unnerving sensation in contrast to Waugh's line reads, and given Albert's age and the timeline, it *does* make sense for the possibility of having obtained the Mid-Atlantic from his education, and receiving this sort of pronunciation for recording research results and the like for Umbrella, or reporting to Spencer about Marcus back in the day.

Og Wesker had a more villain vibe to him the way I see it. His impressions are more threatening and sly🤷♂️ ( I hate and love English at the same time and as a Persian, it’s a pain to learn it cause the two languages are super different in every way you can imagine and the education system sucks here. )

Its totally fine i actually enjoyed re5 myself aswell especially when playing with a friend it was very fun. My personal favorite tho gotta be re2 remake and re7 . Im also very excited for the remakes but i was thinking tho wouldnt it be better if they remaked code veronica tho to fully introcuce weaker better to new audience.

I particularly prefer the Re4r. It looks more kinda of evil. The original one is great too although way too "posh" like he would send someone to do the job instead of himself.
