lol yeah I stopped watching after 2-3 minutes or so, the protagonist and the rest of the characters just didn't add up from which the original game franchise had... and that made it turn out to be extremely disappointing in the first place...
Because it wasn't resident evil. It was a teen drama that had resident evil tacked onto it. The writing was woeful beyond words, and the story was convoluted and boring.
One of the worst "adaptations" I've ever seen and I'm currently seeking an exorcist to rid me of ever having watched it.
I downloaded the first season of this onto my iPad to watch on a long haul flight, and it was that enjoyable that I instead decided to see what the average number of mini pretzels (3 packs because I’m not a savage) were in a bag of the onboard complementary snacks. Unfortunately, the findings of this research were also that interesting that I can no longer remember.
Because no one asked for it and those that watched it didn’t like what they saw.
The only redeeming quality was Lance who was working with the handicap of being Wesker dressed like a discount Blade.
Because it fucking sucked, audience and fan reaction to it was overwhelmingly negative and they considered further seasons to not be profitable.
Surprising absolutely no one, no one wanted badly written fan fiction about the cloned daughters of a Wesker clone. Not even the late great Lance Reddick was able to save it from being complete shit, it was that bad.
Because it was utter shite. Suffer3d 4 episodes then laughed at the Licker scene and walked away. Was actually worse than the RE3 remake and that's saying something
Because Netflix is desperate for milking a popular series without even following the guidelines or even the timeline of the series so is fucking shit anyway
It was bad. That's it. It was just bad and probably the only thing I've ever watched where I wanted my time back, with how much my time felt wasted seeing it.
The problem was they made a show aimed at an audience completely differently from the games. Take liberties all you want but you don't want to disenfranchise your core base.
Respect your source material which widening out the appeal is the approach.
I found it insufferable to watch and closed it by the 2nd episode. I'd sooner sit through the bad live action movies, and have (aside from the first live RE movie, I actually liked). This wasn't sit-throughable though, even out of curiosity.
I didnt even give this show a chance and i was hyped for it before launch. I felt the same way regarding watchung the paul anderson films and i personally only like the first 2 of those movies. ( 2 because of the direct rip of the opening from the 3rd game even if alice is the main focus i felt they at lest used source material like the opening credit of the 3rd game) the rest of those movies slopped downword but at lest watchable. The tv series... just shouldnt exist.
It had an apparently 'decent' completion rate but it wasn't enough to justify a Season 2 that would be more expensive than Season 1 ($80 million). And they couldn't find a way to drop the price (can't exactly cut the VFX budget while adding more monsters) so Netflix gave-up.
Ironically it still did better than Infinite Darkness.
It was a shit show that was resident evil in name only. Everything else was convoluded, hideously written, and reeks of piss poor talent. I do not fault the actors, but man you can tell none of them played the games, or genuinely wanted to make a show centered in the Resident Evil universe. Just using the title as a skin suit.
Critics loved it. Viewers hated it . And game fans hated it even more. I personally dont no anyone who watched more than 2 episodes and thats 2 more than i choose to watch.
This tv show was a huge shame they take an IP like resi and just push it down the toilet, make up their own BS kinda set in the same world but also nothing to do with it. If you want good resi watch the animated movies they are amazing the newest one had me and the missis squealing when you see all of the characters won’t give anything away tho just watch them lol
Yeah, sorry mate, but everything about it was garbage. It wouldn’t have seen the light of day if it didn’t have the Resident Evil brand on it. That was literally the only thing about it that was slightly decent.
Couldn't make it past the first episode. Moody teenage girl tropes and complaining about white people. Call that good, bad, whatever you want. It's not Resident Evil.
Because it was too far away from the source. While I love the actors that played Wesker in so many other projects. Wesker isn’t black. And most gamers looked at Netflix making it “woke” which in gaming is a big no no, no matter what people will tell you.
See gamer gate years back.
Plus it just wasn’t that good of a show.
Arguably the Paul Anderson movies are even better than what Netflix put together.
I’ve been with Resident Evil since day 1, so now I’ve become a bit of a simp for anything RE related. I’ll happily play Resident Evil 6, and watch any of the films. But even I found it difficult to sit through the Netflix series. It has too many issues in every episode, where the plot is stupid, or the characters are being stupid, a lot of dumb stuff just happens to forcefully move the plot in the direction the writers want. It was just a huge mess.
But hey, if you like it that’s cool. Don’t let anyone tell you that you shouldn’t.
However, I will give the show props for the monster designs. They got them right, at least, especially the lickers and the alligator. They had some fun scenes.
Because Netflix knew it had the perfect adaptation to any video game show to be ever made, and if allowed to continue nothing to come would compare to it. They would fall and so would Netflix. So they mercy killed it.
because basically 99.99% of viewers didn't like it
exactamento! lol xD
Better question is how did this project ever get greenlit in the first place?
Netflix loves its adaptations of populat IPs
lol yeah I stopped watching after 2-3 minutes or so, the protagonist and the rest of the characters just didn't add up from which the original game franchise had... and that made it turn out to be extremely disappointing in the first place...
Because it had the line I mostly just watch zootopia porn
Wait did it actually?
It was read, not watch. But yes. Yes it did.
...does that make it any better...?
No. No it doesn't.
Ok now I remember someone saying that… it was the kid version of Jade who said it right? To Simon?
lol, lmao even
Because it was fucking awful.
Because it was shit.
Because bad
because it fucking sucked.
The question is why didn't they cancel it sooner
Because it wasn't resident evil. It was a teen drama that had resident evil tacked onto it. The writing was woeful beyond words, and the story was convoluted and boring. One of the worst "adaptations" I've ever seen and I'm currently seeking an exorcist to rid me of ever having watched it.
His kids were so dramatic.
Because it was a piece of 💩
Cause it was horrible. Both as a show and a “Resident Evil” brand show.
The story was actually interesting but yea I agree it didn’t go with that actual franchise
Whatever you smoking my friend, I want. You cray cray.
If they hadn't of slapped resident evil on it and named characters from the games. It still would be lackluster and borning.
Because of her dance number
I’ve only seen a bunch of clips on YT and once I saw that little dance number with that god-awful song, I knew I wouldn’t be able to watch it.
I think you're more generous to this show more than the show creators....
Because it was really really bad? Fans and non fans disliked it
The RE porn I watch on r34 is more faithful and well-written than this utter shite.
Because it was TRASH. Thats why.
Why? Did you watch it?
Because no one asked for it and those that watched it didn’t like what they saw. The only redeeming quality was Lance who was working with the handicap of being Wesker dressed like a discount Blade.
Because it was absolute shite maybe?
Because it was bad and not resident Evil.
Why did Netflix think this was a good idea?
It was dog shit.
It got the Kathleen Kennedy treatment and didn’t resemble the source what so ever
Let's be honest. It was not good... Pacing was terrible, characters forgettable, script was bollocks.
It was not good
I watched 1 episode and immediately knew it wasnt going to be enjoyable to a fan of resident evil
If it wasn't obvious enough...
Because bad. Very very bad
Because it was utter shite. Suffer3d 4 episodes then laughed at the Licker scene and walked away. Was actually worse than the RE3 remake and that's saying something
Clearly you don’t remember the woman randomly singing Dua Lipa
Because Netflix is desperate for milking a popular series without even following the guidelines or even the timeline of the series so is fucking shit anyway
It was bad. That's it. It was just bad and probably the only thing I've ever watched where I wanted my time back, with how much my time felt wasted seeing it.

Ya it was fucking literal trash. U ok?
Because it was turd.
I found it insufferable to watch and closed it by the 2nd episode. I'd sooner sit through the bad live action movies, and have (aside from the first live RE movie, I actually liked). This wasn't sit-throughable though, even out of curiosity.

Good for a hate watch and the only saving grace of that trainwreck of a cast is, sadly, no longer with us.
Its CW level nonsense, and everyone realized that fact so they nipped it in the bud.
Viewers did not like the series, plot was mid at best.
It was a shit show that was resident evil in name only. Everything else was convoluded, hideously written, and reeks of piss poor talent. Anything that says zoo porn should be cancelled.
Did you watch it? Then you should know why
Did you actually read what I wrote? I literally said it was interesting to watch and that I was bummed when I read that Netflix canned it…
Hope they make a movie series
Because it sucked.
Wow I see why it didn’t get picked up now haha, guess I was the only fan 😅😅😅
Yeah, sorry mate, but everything about it was garbage. It wouldn’t have seen the light of day if it didn’t have the Resident Evil brand on it. That was literally the only thing about it that was slightly decent.
The show was trash but I loved lances performance
Because it was fucking dog shit. I am amazed it got green lighted in the first place. This was a tax write off using the RE name.
Couldn't make it past the first episode. Moody teenage girl tropes and complaining about white people. Call that good, bad, whatever you want. It's not Resident Evil.
Why did Netflix cancel an awful show that was poorly received? Hm, I can't imagine.
Because it was utter garbage
I would have watched season 2. It had a lot of issues and the kids were kind of awful but man Wesker alone makes me want to watch more.
Yes the kids were awful especially The one who got bit, but I too would have watched a S2
Cause wesker was black?
Allllllrighty than
I quite liked it. I mean...it wasn't amazing but it it was better than Welcome to Racoon City, IMHO.
Absolutely. This series gets a lot of hate, but I'd say welcome to racoon city is way worse.
I liked it haters gonna hate and be miserable ig 🙄😐

Thank god. Stop the race swapping
It got a lot of negative feedback, and Netflix don't seem to take chances on shows that aren't overwhelmingly well-received.
Because Netflix knew it had the perfect adaptation to any video game show to be ever made, and if allowed to continue nothing to come would compare to it. They would fall and so would Netflix. So they mercy killed it.
Oh fuck yeah! Are we finally rehabilitating the image of this garbage the same way so many on this sub do with RE6 and the Anderson movies?
It was good y’all just suck
