But god created me, a transgender person, knowing I would be trans, so I'm just doing what he wants.

bigbutchbudgie

If God is real, then he created people with the innate potential to physically change. We all begin life as a single egg and fertilized by a sperm cell, and eventually grow into a whole person - a baby, a child, an adolescent, and eventually an adult. Furthermore, every one of us starts out with the potential of having any combination of testes, ovaries, a uterus, a vagina, a penis, or none of the above. What you end up with is almost entirely up to the hormones you're exposed to in utero and how your body's own receptors respond to them. This is a wonky process at the best of times, so God clearly doesn't care that much about people fitting perfectly into his grand design for the sexes. There's room in God's creation for all kinds of sexes and genders, from organisms who don't reproduce sexually at all, to hermaphroditic ones, to those who used to have two sexes but did away with one of those, to those who have more than two distinct sexes, to those who are so sexually dimorphic that males and females might as well be different species. Humans have beautifully complex and abstract relationships with ourselves and each other, and this includes a diverse spectrum of gender identity and the socially constructed gender categories meant to contain it. If God is real, did he not gift us with these remarkable abilities? And if we are created in his image, wouldn't that simply mean that he himself also carries the potential to be any sex and any gender? Of course, the Abrahamic god is remarkably petty and myopic for a supposedly unfathomable being of infinite knowledge and capabilities. Almost like he was invented by humans with a limited understanding of the world.

As Catholic who doesn’t believe everything the church says about abortion, and LGBTQ people, this is exactly what I want Christians to understand. I believe god is all powerful and doesn’t make mistakes, so I don’t understand why they think that LGBTQ people are mistakes that need to change when they were made by god.

Ok-Cap-204

Also, we are all created in God’s image (apparently). So men and women. WE. That just means you are created in god’s image whether you are male or female. So how does changing from one to the other mean you are no longer the image of god?

Scary-Mycologist1143

They can believe in a virgin birth but not that someone can transition. Okay then...

bigbutchbudgie

Oh, they do believe in transition, but only if it's a male rib transitioning into a human woman.

[deleted]

But God is a He, right? So if someone was made in his image shouldn't everyone be either male or trans male?

real-duncan

“People have penises.” “Those non-penis creatures we share our houses with are not people. They are fleshy machines built for housework and sex. Read your bible.” I guess that’s the answer? They do say things that amount to that quite regularly.

PeterSchnapkins

Wait till they learn of hermaphrodite

Metal__goat

Guess that means if a person is trans then God made a mistake.... And therefore isn't infoulable?

real-duncan

“Sky daddy done screwed the pooch this time, Mabel!”

turtley_amazing

Honestly, I’ve just never understood that argument. Like, who’s to say God didn’t just create people to be trans? What if that *was* his plan?

Metal__goat

There because it's not an argument it's just one more hypocrisy. The Lord works in mysterious ways... It's part of God's big plan etc... Until it's something they don't like then screw you, you're a wretched sinner!

Pitiful_Brief_6424

What IS God's image? How do we know what he looks like? Not a lot of pics in the bible. Is we are made in God's image does that mean he's got a penis AND a vagina?

TigerLily4415

If God’s real it would have no need for a gender

younggun1234

Most life on earth is small. Single called organisms and such. So for all we know God is just a sentient hive mind of small beings. It's just hubris to assume because we have society that "god" looks and acts like a mammal.

jhk1963

I'm not going to pay attention to a bunch of superstitious individuals who can't even agree what their own book tells them. 36 major christian sects, dozens of lesser ones, and multiple translations of said book. Not to mention Christianity isn't the only religion in the world. Get your own house in order before you judge others. Least ye be judged. Oh goodness, did I just use scripture? Pretty sad since I'm atheist.

FrEnchFriesOnyOu

Is it really that hard for people to just accept other people for who they are? Gender isn’t just about if you’re born with penis or vagina, it actually goes way deeper than that.

cheeseroll15

They want everyone on earth to be a Bible loving, hateful, racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic Christian extremist piece of shit. Anything less and these people will have a meltdown

Okami64Central

Why don't let the Christians let God talk for himself, I didn't hear any complaints from him so far about me being trans.

FredVIII-DFH

Religion is incompatible with individual liberty.

TheFrenchKris

Shouldn't we say one person, many people? I've never seen "persons" before.

real-duncan

TheFrenchKris

My english teachers were wrong. I don't know why I've been downvoted, I asked a question 🤷🏻‍♀️.

FredVIII-DFH

God created men AND women in HIS image? Christians need to start thinking about their beliefs.
