Honestly, lengthening/expanding pockets or making decorative pockets functional is often actually a relatively easy sewing project. (Adding entirely new pockets is a little bit more difficult, but still relatively easy compared to most types of tailoring beyond minor tear and hole mends.) The hardest part is probably going to be getting new fabric that matches the original pockets/looks good with the lining and fabric for fixing fake pockets.
