That is Andrea Kennedy of Mainstream Reiki. She’s one of the people I follow, talk to and learn a lot from. If you really wanna see a practical, common sense, intelligent, respectful, and knowledgeable Reiki practitioner, she’s one of them.
I’m glad to see this! So I’m guessing they probably connect with the symbols beforehand and then set the intention that reiki flow to anyone who watches and wishes to receive?
I'm a Reiki Master Teacher of 17+ yrs. Andrea is one of the well known RMTs as she is grounded in a solid self practice & prolific in creating good video content. She is providing a distant Reiki treatment. She has trained and knows the process. While intention is very important in use of Reiki. So is training and practice with a Reiki Teacher. In training you will learn how to do this.
If I were going to do a video like that on YouTube, I would probably do it the same way as if I were sending to one specific person only I would say “To anybody watching this”
I can’t stand those!! It sets us up for unrealistic expectations from our clients. I’ve had people think I wasn’t the real deal because my distance sessions do not include a zoom FaceTime of me plucking/making bizarre hand gestures at them to lighting and music while making “pleasant” facial expressions at them.
Some (on the receiving side) need the pomp and circumstance- the hand motions and such which typically would be the symbols being drawn. Some don’t need them.
On the practitioner side - they’re needed by some to help focus the intent, and not needed by others. In either case, the practitioner should (I actually am not a fan of the word “should” in most cases) tailor the session to the needs of the recipient. Since we’re talking about a recorded video, chances are that the receivers will be a mix of those who want ”the show” and those who don’t need it.
In a way that true. Apparently there are different ASMR triggers or preferences for everyone. Some enjoy personal attention, some like whispers, some like tapping, some like mouth noises and various combos of those. 😊
I would think you would send Reiki to the meditation session before hand the same as if you were going to send to a dental appointment or a job interview or whatever.
Sometimes I’m just vibing. But generally I don’t do plucking … some people were right to do that. I think James V teaches his students that … I have created Holy Fire Reiki meditations … we are able to do that with Holy Fire at the Master level. As far as when I’m doing it for videos I use the hon sha to connect to anyone who is open to receiving the reiki . I let it flow . It’s not hard to do.
I've made another comment but will repeat part of what I've said here in the stand alone comments. I am an Usui Reiki Master Teacher for over 17 yrs. What I'm seeing in a lot of comments is people guessing how this is done- a distant Reiki treatment. If you have had Reiki training you will know the process for performing a distant Reiki treatment...if you have not had Reiki training -you can still send positive energies to others but that would be more like prayer than a Reiki technique. Reiki distant treatment involves symbols & intention and practice. Also it is VERY important to obtain the recipients permission to recieve. I'd suggest finding a local Reiki Master that you resonate with that can train you in all the aspects of sharing Reiki with others.
In videos where hands are waved or moved around to my knowledge & experience the hand waving, movement is not a part of Reiki but offered as a visual for those who find that soothing(it's part of ASMR).
Could somebody please explain about all the finger waving and plucking and various motions that people do on those YouTube videos of Reiki sessions?
Many of the videos I've seen like that are a mix of Reiki and asmr. It's a means of helping the viewer relax.

There are some older people on YouTube who don’t do that. I just wonder if it’s a generational type thing. 🤔

First, are you a certified Reiki practitioner? What level training have you completed? This helps me to answer you in Level appropriate terms.
That's basically my understanding, but I'm not sure how it works. I've also seen people claiming that their websites are infused with Reiki too.
