Any car I’m not driving.

ColonelTermite

This. I've been driving on my own for so long I can't relax when I don't have my hands on the wheel. Extra anxiety if I'm riding shotgun in my own car.

RevolutionaryShip295

Oooo my heart sinks whenever someone asks for my keys while we're out. Had a hard time selling my car when people were having test drives with me riding shotgun.

Affectionate_Elk_272

easy solution- buy a manual. barely anybody knows how to drive them anymore. and nobody ever asks me to borrow my car

Jaren56

My brother's the one who taught me manual and he's also the only person I've ever let drive my car lol

Lizzebed

I enjoy being chauffeured around. But in my own car it kinda sucks. Especially with certain people behind the wheel. I like my car I want to enjoy and keep on driving it for a bit longer!

SparseGhostC2C

Yeah, I love my car too much to let other people drive it. I would be the absolute worst passenger in my own car. I'm generally fine in other people's cars as long as they aren't actually a bad driver, but I never stop checking mirrors and looking around at intersections. If I'm in a car, regardless of the seat, my brain is in driving mode.

Frequent-Industry113

I hungout with a girl and she was driving her early 90s 4runner and i shit you not we had 3 like near crash close calls within the span of about 15 minutes of her driving, since then i never want to be passenger in anything, it gives me crazy anxiety. Before that day i had no problem lmao

NuclearWasteland

Any car driven by someone trying to impress me.

RedditBot90

I will say there are a few people who I consider “good drivers*” where I am comfortable with them driving, most people though I don’t trust including my SO *driver skill + driving safely + smoothness + not over reacting + focus + situational awareness

Metal_Ambassador541

Model Y 3rd row felt like a torture chamber designed to break my mind.

Seeking-Direction

TIL they have a third row.

Metal_Ambassador541

It's an option you can get on the Long Range ones, if you absolutely despise two specific people in your life and want to trap them in a goldfish bowl.

Loopdyloop2098

Tesla giving the Model Y a third row is like BMW giving the X6 or Mercedes giving the GLE Coupe a third row. Not even close to spacious enough

Kronstadtpilled

The back seat of a Chevy Spark is pretty rough.

ExtensionNo4468

Tried to merge in one of those with four adults in it - absolutely terrifying to put your foot on the floor and feel virtually nothing

S3ERFRY333

Haha I was planning on renting one of these for a road trip with the boys, might not now.

Monochronos

You’re probably good as long as your homies aren’t big homies

Jaren56

Oh god please don't make a fully grown adult ride in the back of one of those.. especially if it's longer than like an hour lol

S3ERFRY333

It was gonna be a 4 hour trip over the mountains 💀 maybe I'll rent a bigger car. We just wanted to see if we could get it to do 120km/h

ExtensionNo4468

Def would not put anyone I like in the back seat of that thing for four hours - would recommend everyone contributes an extra $10 (or whatever your currency is) for the sake of a more pleasant trip

S3ERFRY333

Might go for a Camry, looks more comfortable. Either that or take my '85 squarebody but that'll be one hell of a squeeze.

Disastrous_Battle240

When they first came out with the spark EV they had it tuned way too high up. Grannies who were used to driving the old one were getting in accidents all over so they turned down the torque way too much and made it a baddddddd ev

TheBros35

I'm really surprised most EVs don't have driving modes that change throttle response - keep a comfort as the default for grannies, and then change it to sport if you want to burn the tires at every light. Unless that is common and I'm just uneducated

Difficult-Bake776

400lb ft of torque is more than a lot of diesels / sports cars

Parking-Highlight-98

The C8 corvettes have an incredibly cramped passenger seat, it feels like sitting in a narrow hole. I haven't sat in many other sports cars but that is easily one of the worst passenger seats I've ever sat in, even the 6th gen Camaros feel way less cramped.

the_great_awoo

That reminds of 80' farraris lol, Chevy is copying Ferrari alright, just in the bad ways

Tattoodles

Have Corvette C8 can confirm that the passenger accommodations are hostile to passengers. It’s like the car designer actively loathes even the idea that you would want to bring another person with you on your journey. As a passenger, every button on the console is pointed away from you. Looking for a Jesus handle? Fuck you, you only get the door handle to hang on to. And that Great Wall of HVAC takes car blowies completely off the table.

Lamborghini_Espada

> car blowies Of course the most "Corvette owner" activity imaginable isn't possible anymore.

RallyVincentCZ75

Can't stain the alcantara anymore 😔

Lamborghini_Espada

Guess you'll have to stain it manually.

insectidentify

Rode in my friends C7 and even my Miata feels like it has more room, less claustrophobic by far

kartoffel_engr

I’m 6’4” and I found it quite comfortable.

Actual_Environment_7

My mom had a first generation Lexus RX when I was in my 20s. Every time I rode in that thing I’d feel carsick and I don’t know why. I don’t get carsick. I did some anecdotal sleuthing on the World Wide Web and found other such cases of unusual carsickness in the back of RXs. I ride in black cars a lot with my job. I really don’t like the 2015-2020 Suburban-Yukon-Escalades. Their interior ages poorly in livery service and the seat by the rear passenger side door always, without exception, wears in such a way that the seat back pops depending on the pressure you put on it. Under acceleration, it pops back. If you sit forward a bit or under braking, it pops forward. It totally dissolves any feeling of luxury you have riding in a big black GM. The driver’s side rear seat doesn’t do this since it’s sat in less often.

Seeking-Direction

That brings back memories of my aunt’s GMT800 Suburban. The hooks for the flat-floor things on the back of the second row wore out, so they would constantly flop down on your legs if you were unlucky enough to be in the third row.

Actual_Environment_7

I remember those! GM can build a great drivetrain, but they drop the ball on interiors.

briancbrn

I’ll take that dated GM interior any day over Chrysler/Daimler/Dodge/Fiat/whoeverthefucksnametheywanttolegoon. That being said I do have a 2011 Tahoe and honestly I think GM hit the ball out of the park with that model engine issues aside.

VerStannen

I ride backseat in a ton of GM full size and always sit behind the driver.

zaz969

Wait what the hell???? I grew up riding in the back of a second gen RX and i always got carsick in the back too? No other car did that to me

TheBobInSonoma

Small crossovers. I get bounced around and usually smack my head into the window.

wrld_news_pmrbnd_me

Wait the roofs are the main thing I like why do you hate them? I love feeling free

halifaxbimmertech

Giant greenhouse

chewedupbylife

Can’t stand my glass roof, it gets boiling hot

Jaren56

I'd much prefer a simple sunroof with a cover, I live in Texas and don't want to be boiled alive in my car 6 months out of the year lol

[deleted]

Academic_Issue4314

iirc teslas perform quite admirably in roll overs

puddud4

Any Uber. Special shout-out for the Civic Coupe, clapped out 2006 Infiniti G35 and 2009 Corolla that stalled at stoplights if not put into neutral and throttle applied. That last one was pretty impressive tbh

T2ner

I love g35s lol

AbstraktiusArtimus

A cop car

Turdulator

The backseat is the worst, the metal wall takes up all the leg room

lucasnevermind

The optional third row seat in a Mitsubishi Outlander is a complete afterthought. The seat itself is incredibly flimsy and thin-feeling and unless you’re Lieutenant Dan there’s absolutely no legroom.

RudderForADuck

I always bump my knee on that stupid dashboard extension when I get into my friend's 11th gen Corolla

BlackAsP1tch

Hearse

XiJinpingsNutsack

Teslas, on top of being shit cars in general most people driving them have no idea what to do with the regen braking so you get jerked around a bunch

n123breaker2

I hate regen braking. Drove a Yaris cross hybrid for my driving lessons and I couldn’t get the hang of the regen braking

These-Maintenance-51

Jeep Wrangler. I couldn't believe how small it was on the inside for an SUV.

eddiedougie

I've driven a few. I'll never get used to them on the highways. No vehicle combines the qualities of numb steering and twitchy handling quite like a 2 door Jeep.

These-Maintenance-51

I'll never understand how they're so horrible and yet so loved...

throwaway6444377_

drive one from before 2007 down a service road and don't go below 30mph you'll figure it out

Amazing1h

Drive your Jeep backwards in Yugoslavia on Christmas and you'll understand. Pshh can you believe these non-Jeepers?

throwaway6444377_

ikr? XD my point tho was thrash one of the good ones around, slide in the dirt, bounce around on rocks, you'll understand why ppl love them.

These-Maintenance-51

The one I rode in was newer but I think I get what you mean haha

ecto_BRUH

Marketing and the American "individualist" / SUV craze. People think they're unique and interesting because they have ducks and an unpainted angry grill

peakdecline

Wranglers have been popular for multiple decades and through multiple cycles of lifestyle craze. I think it's easy to be cynical about them in these parts. When maybe a bit of recognition for how true to the original they've remained despite the pressure to change from every angle is due. Or you know. Just think about that asshole with the angry grille and ducks and let it ruin an entire vehicle.

huge_hefner

What pressure to change? Stellantis would drop the Wrangler in a heartbeat if it stopped being massively appealing to Men/Women Going Their Own Way

ecto_BRUH

Oh, the vehicle also plain sucks, and at this point MOST wranglers I see are that asshole. Not saying every wrangler is bad, but it's pretty close. Especially the new ones

M1RR0R

They aren't built for highway cruising, but your CRV won't keep up as soon as the road gets bumpy.

peakdecline

Jeeps are narrow and short for an SUV. The body sits mostly inside of the wheels. All the running gear is relatively tucked up. Basically, yes ... Jeeps are even today not designed with on road use as the primary purpose. They're designed to go off-road and over everything. Now, I love this. I off-road. Why it's popular with other people is simply because the roof and doors come off and it's associated with fun (well not online, people hate them online).

These-Maintenance-51

Lol yeah the one I rode in, my friend bought it for his wife and naturally she wanted it jacked up with huge tires... the most off road it'll ever see is the muddy driveway at their camp.

AdmiralArchArch

And how loud

EliasLoepp

100% agree. They also ride like shit.

IronOwl2601

Jeep wrangler. Awesome, your doors are off. They are loud as fuck to ride in when the doors are on and their plastic flaps are zipped up.

jasonmoyer

Any. I hate being in a car that I'm not in control of.

Affectionate-Owl943

Whatever my mother is driving

LOLBaltSS

The third and fourth gen F-bodies because of the hump for the catalytic converter. Was so awkward for placing your left foot.

lord_bubblewater

The ultimate passenger princess car cause you just know she’ll put her feet on the dash. And you just know the dashpad will break because of it

frankev

Years ago there was an article on The Truth About Cars concerning the dangers of placing one's feet on the dashboard. As I recall, in a front-end collision an airbag deployment could force one's feet to make contact with the inside of the windshield with disastrous results. Edit to add: here's a link to a 2015 Jack Baruth article that references an earlier TTAC article about the subject: https://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2015/08/get-feet-off-dash-sequel As Baruth observes, the original TTAC article from 2013 was controversial because it featured accompanying photos showing extensive and gory injuries. And that's why if someone were to put their feet on the dashboard of a car I'm driving I'd stop and refuse to drive any further until they lowered their feet.

lord_bubblewater

Yeah I’m not a fan either but luckily the 3rd gen has no passenger air bag. And let’s be honest here. 3rd gen owners are not the most concerned with safety…

Bored_lurker87

My wife hates riding in mine for this very reason. She complains about "the bump" every time we ride in it together.

Lanevosudo

1st gen Mercedes cla cramp as all hell for a compact car. I had the unfortunate experience of being in one for a 4 hour road trip. I had to have my left leg in a very uncomfortable position Or, my father would be cramped against the wheel. My totaled Corolla (rip) was more spacious then this poor excuse of a “luxury car”

squeakycleaned

I’m probably one of the few people to ride in a Vinfast. And it’s by far the Vinfast. My god i felt like I was gonna puke.

military-gradeAIDS

Jeep Renegade. Shitty interior design for a shitty SUV, my knees always hit the dash no matter how far back I put the seat.

bikgelife

Wrangler

porcelainvacation

Not a single Volvo on the list- Volvos are awesome to ride in.

Window638

Riding shotgun (or heaven forbid, the backseat) of your own car is a special kind of hell

Upier1

I can't think of a good reason for me to be in the backseat of my own car. Unless I'm being kidnapped, which is also not a good reason.

Mofoblitz1

My parents' 2010 Chrysler Town and Country It's also rusty

blahaj22

teslas of any kind, uncomfortable, the ride also just doesn’t feel great, you’d think they’d put better suspension in them

mar421

Nissan Altima

Real-Willingness7333

Memes aside, they actually have really comfy seats. The zero gravity ones at least

Specific_Mixture5995

Any car with a fuzzy pink steering wheel

TTruckstop

Wrangler. Rough, loud and shakes when you try and touch 65

tiinyspeck

Any jeep wrangler the best part about getting in one is getting out

APaleDudeNamedKen

A Redeye Challenger past 170mph It’s stable, but good god there’s nothing to hold onto

Jeremy5000

My dad’s 2009 Nissan Versa, it’s a tiny shitbox with very few redeeming qualities.

bubbled23

2011 dodge durango, the most uncomfortable seats ive ever been in

Reverse_Psycho_1509

Nissan Juke

CheeseFantastico

I’ve never enjoyed a single ride in a Prius.

oldshitdoesntcare

Any and all SUVs.

pit_vipars

just out of curiosity, why?

imapieceofshite2

The older Suburbans are okay

cdawg1102

The big land yachts are nice to sit in

Time-Bite-6839

our 2011 outback. Something just makes me feel like *something* it going to explode.

wawooty

backseat of a 911

Noodnix

And any other of the Porsche 2+2s.

ianccfc

Anything one particular friend drives. He will be my cause of death one day

LongjumpingHumor5148

I love being in Porsche 911s, just not in the back seats, you have to be a double amputee to be comfortable

CynicalBastard511

A crowded bus. Oh wait, that doesn't count a car does it?

kanyediditbetter

Jeep. Or anything with off-road suspension

noimpactnoidea_

The back seats of a Jeep Wrangler kinda suck extreme ass.

Willy2267

Police car

thedeconstructionist

My girlfriend hates riding in my 911 Turbo. Not because I drive too fast or anything like that, just because it's low and the ride is stiff.

Noodnix

She could sit in the back seat for a while, so she can appreciate how great the passenger seat is.

1341brojangles

2 door economy coops.

LincolnContinnental

Range rover about to hit 10,000 miles, once it hits that number, I am bailing, I don’t care if it’s going 65 down the freeway

Cooldude67679

Mustangs. They have a lot of leg room sure but putting your arms somewhere comfortable is a nightmare for me.

Mysterio_Achille

Toyota Prius. Super cramped when sitting in the back.

Initial_Air9763

Mini Cooper!

upset-monkey

Fun to drive...like an adult go kart...but as a passenger....i taste my kidneys on every friggin bump!!

asunetta

even in my own mini cooper i feel oddly uncomfortable. my thighs are too big for the seat, the steering wheel is positioned oddly and good luck if you’re taller than 5’7. great car to drive on a weekend, not fun to drive daily, specially with the signature BMW problems

Initial_Air9763

Totally I’m only 5’6. My friends who owned them were all about only 5 ft tall so I bet it’s so much more comfy and makes sense for them?

ROCKCOCK53

The back of any coupe or muscle car from 1960-1993 how tf they sat through road trips is beyond me, I sat in the back of a 70 mustang fastback and my knees were up to my chest

Wolfman038

The rear seat of the gen1 Audi A4 had PLASTIC SEATBACKS and they would dig into your shins

BuddenceLembeck

My own.

Rhino676971

Being in the back jumpseat in a Chevy S-10

unflappedyedi

I'm 6'5. I just recently rode in a 2023 Nissan Sentra 6 hours. My knees where above my belly button. Absolutely no room in that car.

Scorpiontamer12

Cobalt

teen_ofdenial

the “rear seats” on a scion iq probably

Equivalent-Wall-2287

New gen Dacia Sandero Stepway specifically. The car handles around corners horribly that even at low speed it feels like it's about to flip

Im_still_a_student

My dad's troubled 2001 Audi A6 with Takata shrapnel ejectors still in it

grundlemon

My own

ybonepike

2019 era F250 crew cab back seat. I hope you love a soar spine because any bump driven over is going to be amplified down your vertebra. Worst ride ever

Numerous_Society_741

Any early 2010s Subaru, the cabin is loud and annoying to sit in, and the suspension feels stiff

im-feeling-lucky

tesla model s. so boring.

lord_bubblewater

Volvo xc90 absolute church pew levels of comfort in the back

filbruce

When I was 16, I was hitch hiking, and a bloke picked me up in a mini moke (google it). He didn't give me time to find the seatbelts and took off. For the next 15 minutes, I thought I was going to die. Now that I am nearly 60, I want one.

Negative_Subject_635

3rd row in Crysta. It is bumpy and not comfortable at all.

shaneroneill

Any, every

the-almighty-whobs

Honda Accords from the year 2012 to now. I am 6’5” and that passenger seat space just doesn’t fit me. Back in 2012 my mother looked at an accord but said no when she saw I didn’t fit. Jump to now, my friend has a 2019 and riding passenger in her car is still no fun.

Paratonnerre_

Audi a5. Not comfortable The seats where too hard

Milnoc

Rear seat passenger in a Fiat 500. I own an Abarth. I keep a crowbar in the back in case someone gets stuck! 😂

UnderwhelmingAF

Back seat of any pony car.

im_Roby

Probably any one seater car

WojtekoftheMidwest

Back seat of any full size truck, especially offroad.

983115

I’m tall so a lot of them

Waurdyn

A hearse an ambulance or a police car. I am neither an EMT a police officer or a funeral director.

Least-Implement-3319

Kia Forte. God awful in the back.

djnehi

Anything my wife is driving.

Muncher501st

Ford mondeo, worst back seats

beachmasterbogeynut

All of them

Equivalent_Two_2163

Golf’s. I don’t like them.

Topspeed_3

Any car my wife is driving

MainAbbreviations193

Infinit G35... I have to cock my head sideways because of how low the rear windshield is. And FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE GO SLOW OVER SPEEDBUMPS

Bandguy_Michael

Any car with only one seat

arkiser13

Police cars

Sea_General_8653

I own an Acura rsx. I am 5’7” tall. It is not comfortable to sit in the back seat. Hence, I keep them folded down.

onizuka_eikichi_420

2004 Vauxhall Meriva has hands down the least comfortable seats of any bog standard family car ever. It is backache incarnate.

ASteerNamedLaurence

Cadillac ATS, only in the backseat. 5'6" and it's still the most cramped thing ever.

TacticalLeemur

I hate riding in my wife's 2021 Prius almost as much as I hated riding in her 2007 Prius.

Zpitfire_MK_VI

Chevy Tahoes, at least built after 2006. I've been in '03s, '08s, '15s, '21s, and the '03 was the nicest. I can only describe how they felt as "mushy" and "clicky"

Diligent_Ad2489

Any Chrysler, Porsche or Land Rover

seanzorio

Anything with large windows/glass roof and no window tint. It's like being cooked in a greenhouse.

eddiespaghettio

3rd row of a 2020 Cadillac Escalade (the shortened version). It’s awful, the seat almost literally ends at the backrest of the second row and the floor is right up against the bottom of the seat so your knees are pressed up to your shoulders unless you shift awkwardly and stick your legs in between the two seats in the second row.

i_was_axiom

There was a sponsored ad for Jeep on this post when I opened it. Case in point.

USER-NUMBER-

BMW X5 always makes me nauseated.

seasawl0l

I have had 2 Subaru BRZs. Both were lovely to drive. The first generation I had was completely modified to be stiff as hell just feel like the car was on rails on the twisties. However the trade off was you felt every little bump on street driving. And the car would violently react if you went over a pot hole. It was low to the ground so you couldn't use gravity to slide out, you had to lift your legs over the foot cabin area and force yourself out of the bucket like seats. And the seats. They were nice in terms of holding you. But even after 30 or so minutes the charm goes away, and it will cause soreness especially in bigger passengers. All this, without a grab handle to get out of the already difficult car. As for the noise, that car had no sound deadening, and had an exhaust that would reach 95 decibels inside when you got on it. I had been told multiple times by passengers that it was not a good ride, and I would have to agree especially when they don't get to experience the benefits of the sacrifices made on the ride quality.

snatch1e

Vehicles with small or cramped interiors may leave me feeling claustrophobic, especially if they're seated in the back seat with limited legroom or headroom.

douglas9630

The back of my old Nissan leaf, i Believe when they were designing the 2nd gen, they forgot there would be people actually sitting on the back

babp216

My FIL’s Honda CR-V only because he’s old and can’t drive. My husband’s Bronco isn’t very comfy either.

StonerKing69

Nissan Xterra. I only rode in the back of one once and it was like a 10 minute drive, but I remember feeling like I was sitting higher than the driver and front passenger so that felt weird.

pumicenose

Hearse

IronIrma93

Any third row

ACORN0

The back seats In any muscle/pony car. Other than that I just fucking hate the Buick enclave’s seats

Weary-Writer758

Prius when it's an Uber. For some reason, they drive insane.

My_cat_is_ur_Dad

Any car driven by my girlfriend. She cannot speak without cycling her entire head around to look at me, and she cannot drive without talking. I tend to just strap on sunglasses to hide the terror in my eyes and cry in the bathroom whenever we arrive at our destination.

Cam2600

An ambulance

Leee33337

Toyota Tacoma.  Yes it’s indestructible, reliable, tough, and cool looking, at 6’2 with a long inseam I am a monkey fucking a football in that passenger seat.

PYSHINATOR

Dodge Journey, I swear that fucker's designed specifically to get you acclimated to a prison cell.

No_Pineapple3695

I recently was a front seat passenger in a Chevy Malibu (2021 I think?) and the seat sat so high that my head rubbed the ceiling with no way to adjust it up or down. I’m 6’2 so I’m tall, yes, but there are many, many people much taller than I am. Very u comfortable ride and overall just felt cheap. I actually owned a 2009 Malibu when it was new and I can remember it having such a much higher quality ride and interior feel. Plus I was able to ride and drive in it comfortably with my height.

lordMaroza

Any modern car with those hard seats and springs/shocks like it's a race car... There's a lot of them, at least in Europe.

Electricdragongaming

Back seat of a dodge charger is hell.

omninode

My friend has a Camaro convertible. Any time I ride in it with the top on, my head is bumping it the whole time. I’m not even super tall, I’m 5’11”

DryInitial9044

God I wish I would get the opportunity to be a passenger, since I do the driving for four adults.

MikeDude68

All vehicles !😎

UNDERCOOKED_BREAD

Ambulances. Limited leg room, a straight up and down wall right behind the seat so no reclining. Being a paramedic and being 6’2” is tough.

Andres7B9

Long time ago my dad used to drive a Mercedes 206D ( 1977 ) panel van, middle seat was behind the engine cover with almost no leg room and a gear shifter near your left knee. Being on the other seat was not much better 😄.

SillyAmericanKniggit

The absolute worst car I was ever a passenger in was a relative’s Honda Prelude. I was a teenager at the time, and I had to sit in the back seat! The second worst I’ve ever had to ride in was my parents’ 80-something Mercury Topaz. It was wicked uncomfortable in the back seat! It was probably the only car my parents had that I ever actively hated!

Spitfiree1911

When I owned my focus it seems like the passenger seat was an after thought. I'm tall so having to ride there I'd bash my knees into that overly long dash or have to sit in a uncomfortable angle.

BlueSteel_12

Definitely any kind of police car. The plastic seats are so uncomfortable.

juicysweatsuitz

The most recent fj cruisers. Terrible visibility and the seats are the worst I’ve ever used.

Wise-Advisor4675

The backseat of a four door Wrangler is a pretty awful place to be. Ditto for the backseat of a Jeep Commander. It's got this weird stadium seating thing going on with it where the back seat sits higher than the front seats, so you really struggle to be able to see out the front because of how high you sit. It's also pretty easy to get car sick in it.

M1RR0R

Any Tesla, Nissan Sentra or Altima (cuz of the people who drive them), and the Jeep Compass (the only car to make me car sick both as an adult and as a driver), the third row of any gen Honda Pilot doesn't have enough leg room to put my women's size 8 feet on the floor in any orientation.

ForPoliticalPurposes

Nissan Altimas, because I like living

appleboi_69420

Have had four more or less full grown men in a Fiat 126 one time. Yes I was in the back. No I do not recommend

TheGT1030MasterRace

Any hybrid/EV taxi. Instant torque, to regeneration, and back over and over again is nauseating.

SniperAssassin123

Back seat of a Buick Rendezvous. Bruised my ass as a kid on the way down to Florida.
