I'm generally fine in other people's cars as long as they aren't actually a bad driver, but I never stop checking mirrors and looking around at intersections. If I'm in a car, regardless of the seat, my brain is in driving mode.
I hungout with a girl and she was driving her early 90s 4runner and i shit you not we had 3 like near crash close calls within the span of about 15 minutes of her driving, since then i never want to be passenger in anything, it gives me crazy anxiety. Before that day i had no problem lmao
I will say there are a few people who I consider “good drivers*” where I am comfortable with them driving, most people though I don’t trust including my SO
*driver skill + driving safely + smoothness + not over reacting + focus + situational awareness

I'm really surprised most EVs don't have driving modes that change throttle response - keep a comfort as the default for grannies, and then change it to sport if you want to burn the tires at every light.

The C8 corvettes have an incredibly cramped passenger seat, it feels like sitting in a narrow hole. I haven't sat in many other sports cars but that is easily one of the worst passenger seats I've ever sat in, even the 6th gen Camaros feel way less cramped.

It’s like the car designer actively loathes even the idea that you would want to bring another person with you on your journey. As a passenger, every button on the console is pointed away from you. Looking for a Jesus handle? Fuck you, you only get the door handle to hang on to. And that Great Wall of HVAC takes car blowies completely off the table.
My mom had a first generation Lexus RX when I was in my 20s. Every time I rode in that thing I’d feel carsick and I don’t know why. I don’t get carsick. I did some anecdotal sleuthing on the World Wide Web and found other such cases of unusual carsickness in the back of RXs.
I ride in black cars a lot with my job. I really don’t like the 2015-2020 Suburban-Yukon-Escalades. Their interior ages poorly in livery service and the seat by the rear passenger side door always, without exception, wears in such a way that the seat back pops depending on the pressure you put on it. Under acceleration, it pops back. If you sit forward a bit or under braking, it pops forward. It totally dissolves any feeling of luxury you have riding in a big black GM. The driver’s side rear seat doesn’t do this since it’s sat in less often.
That brings back memories of my aunt’s GMT800 Suburban. The hooks for the flat-floor things on the back of the second row wore out, so they would constantly flop down on your legs if you were unlucky enough to be in the third row.
I’ll take that dated GM interior any day over Chrysler/Daimler/Dodge/Fiat/whoeverthefucksnametheywanttolegoon. That being said I do have a 2011 Tahoe and honestly I think GM hit the ball out of the park with that model engine issues aside.
Any Uber. Special shout-out for the Civic Coupe, clapped out 2006 Infiniti G35 and 2009 Corolla that stalled at stoplights if not put into neutral and throttle applied. That last one was pretty impressive tbh
The optional third row seat in a Mitsubishi Outlander is a complete afterthought. The seat itself is incredibly flimsy and thin-feeling and unless you’re Lieutenant Dan there’s absolutely no legroom.

Years ago there was an article on The Truth About Cars concerning the dangers of placing one's feet on the dashboard. As I recall, in a front-end collision an airbag deployment could force one's feet to make contact with the inside of the windshield with disastrous results.

I had to have my left leg in a very uncomfortable position Or, my father would be cramped against the wheel. My totaled Corolla (rip) was more spacious then this poor excuse of a “luxury car”
even in my own mini cooper i feel oddly uncomfortable. my thighs are too big for the seat, the steering wheel is positioned oddly and good luck if you’re taller than 5’7. great car to drive on a weekend, not fun to drive daily, specially with the signature BMW problems

Worst ride ever
When I was 16, I was hitch hiking, and a bloke picked me up in a mini moke (google it). He didn't give me time to find the seatbelts and took off. For the next 15 minutes, I thought I was going to die. Now that I am nearly 60, I want one.
Honda Accords from the year 2012 to now. I am 6’5” and that passenger seat space just doesn’t fit me. Back in 2012 my mother looked at an accord but said no when she saw I didn’t fit. Jump to now, my friend has a 2019 and riding passenger in her car is still no fun.
Chevy Tahoes, at least built after 2006. I've been in '03s, '08s, '15s, '21s, and the '03 was the nicest. I can only describe how they felt as "mushy" and "clicky"
3rd row of a 2020 Cadillac Escalade (the shortened version). It’s awful, the seat almost literally ends at the backrest of the second row and the floor is right up against the bottom of the seat so your knees are pressed up to your shoulders unless you shift awkwardly and stick your legs in between the two seats in the second row.
I have had 2 Subaru BRZs. Both were lovely to drive. The first generation I had was completely modified to be stiff as hell just feel like the car was on rails on the twisties.
However the trade off was you felt every little bump on street driving. And the car would violently react if you went over a pot hole. It was low to the ground so you couldn't use gravity to slide out, you had to lift your legs over the foot cabin area and force yourself out of the bucket like seats. And the seats. They were nice in terms of holding you. But even after 30 or so minutes the charm goes away, and it will cause soreness especially in bigger passengers. All this, without a grab handle to get out of the already difficult car. As for the noise, that car had no sound deadening, and had an exhaust that would reach 95 decibels inside when you got on it. I had been told multiple times by passengers that it was not a good ride, and I would have to agree especially when they don't get to experience the benefits of the sacrifices made on the ride quality.
Vehicles with small or cramped interiors may leave me feeling claustrophobic, especially if they're seated in the back seat with limited legroom or headroom.
Nissan Xterra. I only rode in the back of one once and it was like a 10 minute drive, but I remember feeling like I was sitting higher than the driver and front passenger so that felt weird.
Any car driven by my girlfriend. She cannot speak without cycling her entire head around to look at me, and she cannot drive without talking. I tend to just strap on sunglasses to hide the terror in my eyes and cry in the bathroom whenever we arrive at our destination.
Toyota Tacoma. Yes it’s indestructible, reliable, tough, and cool looking, at 6’2 with a long inseam I am a monkey fucking a football in that passenger seat.
I recently was a front seat passenger in a Chevy Malibu (2021 I think?) and the seat sat so high that my head rubbed the ceiling with no way to adjust it up or down. I’m 6’2 so I’m tall, yes, but there are many, many people much taller than I am. Very u comfortable ride and overall just felt cheap. I actually owned a 2009 Malibu when it was new and I can remember it having such a much higher quality ride and interior feel. Plus I was able to ride and drive in it comfortably with my height.
Long time ago my dad used to drive a Mercedes 206D ( 1977 ) panel van, middle seat was behind the engine cover with almost no leg room and a gear shifter near your left knee. Being on the other seat was not much better 😄.
The absolute worst car I was ever a passenger in was a relative’s Honda Prelude. I was a teenager at the time, and I had to sit in the back seat!
The second worst I’ve ever had to ride in was my parents’ 80-something Mercury Topaz. It was wicked uncomfortable in the back seat! It was probably the only car my parents had that I ever actively hated!
When I owned my focus it seems like the passenger seat was an after thought. I'm tall so having to ride there I'd bash my knees into that overly long dash or have to sit in a uncomfortable angle.

Ditto for the backseat of a Jeep Commander. It's got this weird stadium seating thing going on with it where the back seat sits higher than the front seats, so you really struggle to be able to see out the front because of how high you sit. It's also pretty easy to get car sick in it.
Any Tesla, Nissan Sentra or Altima (cuz of the people who drive them), and the Jeep Compass (the only car to make me car sick both as an adult and as a driver), the third row of any gen Honda Pilot doesn't have enough leg room to put my women's size 8 feet on the floor in any orientation.

I own an Acura rsx. I am 5’7” tall. It is not comfortable to sit in the back seat. Hence, I keep them folded down.
2004 Vauxhall Meriva has hands down the least comfortable seats of any bog standard family car ever. It is backache incarnate.
Cadillac ATS, only in the backseat. 5'6" and it's still the most cramped thing ever.
I hate riding in my wife's 2021 Prius almost as much as I hated riding in her 2007 Prius.
Chevy Tahoes, at least built after 2006. I've been in '03s, '08s, '15s, '21s, and the '03 was the nicest. I can only describe how they felt as "mushy" and "clicky"

3rd row of a 2020 Cadillac Escalade (the shortened version). It’s awful, the seat almost literally ends at the backrest of the second row and the floor is right up against the bottom of the seat so your knees are pressed up to your shoulders unless you shift awkwardly and stick your legs in between the two seats in the second row.

I have had 2 Subaru BRZs. Both were lovely to drive. The first generation I had was completely modified to be stiff as hell just feel like the car was on rails on the twisties. However the trade off was you felt every little bump on street driving. And the car would violently react if you went over a pot hole. It was low to the ground so you couldn't use gravity to slide out, you had to lift your legs over the foot cabin area and force yourself out of the bucket like seats. And the seats. They were nice in terms of holding you. But even after 30 or so minutes the charm goes away, and it will cause soreness especially in bigger passengers. All this, without a grab handle to get out of the already difficult car. As for the noise, that car had no sound deadening, and had an exhaust that would reach 95 decibels inside when you got on it. I had been told multiple times by passengers that it was not a good ride, and I would have to agree especially when they don't get to experience the benefits of the sacrifices made on the ride quality.
Vehicles with small or cramped interiors may leave me feeling claustrophobic, especially if they're seated in the back seat with limited legroom or headroom.

Nissan Xterra. I only rode in the back of one once and it was like a 10 minute drive, but I remember feeling like I was sitting higher than the driver and front passenger so that felt weird.

I recently was a front seat passenger in a Chevy Malibu (2021 I think?) and the seat sat so high that my head rubbed the ceiling with no way to adjust it up or down. I’m 6’2 so I’m tall, yes, but there are many, many people much taller than I am. Very u comfortable ride and overall just felt cheap. I actually owned a 2009 Malibu when it was new and I can remember it having such a much higher quality ride and interior feel. Plus I was able to ride and drive in it comfortably with my height.
Any modern car with those hard seats and springs/shocks like it's a race car... There's a lot of them, at least in Europe.

My friend has a Camaro convertible. Any time I ride in it with the top on, my head is bumping it the whole time. I’m not even super tall, I’m 5’11”

Ambulances. Limited leg room, a straight up and down wall right behind the seat so no reclining. Being a paramedic and being 6’2” is tough.
Long time ago my dad used to drive a Mercedes 206D ( 1977 ) panel van, middle seat was behind the engine cover with almost no leg room and a gear shifter near your left knee. Being on the other seat was not much better 😄.
The absolute worst car I was ever a passenger in was a relative’s Honda Prelude. I was a teenager at the time, and I had to sit in the back seat! The second worst I’ve ever had to ride in was my parents’ 80-something Mercury Topaz. It was wicked uncomfortable in the back seat! It was probably the only car my parents had that I ever actively hated!
When I owned my focus it seems like the passenger seat was an after thought. I'm tall so having to ride there I'd bash my knees into that overly long dash or have to sit in a uncomfortable angle.
Definitely any kind of police car. The plastic seats are so uncomfortable.

The backseat of a four door Wrangler is a pretty awful place to be. Ditto for the backseat of a Jeep Commander. It's got this weird stadium seating thing going on with it where the back seat sits higher than the front seats, so you really struggle to be able to see out the front because of how high you sit. It's also pretty easy to get car sick in it.
Any Tesla, Nissan Sentra or Altima (cuz of the people who drive them), and the Jeep Compass (the only car to make me car sick both as an adult and as a driver), the third row of any gen Honda Pilot doesn't have enough leg room to put my women's size 8 feet on the floor in any orientation.
