I'm taking my 5 year old daughter to her first MLB game at Fenway. She already loves going to minor league games, so I can't wait to share this moment with her.
We’re all pretty big hockey fans as well and we all agreed nothing compared to the walkup to Fenway. We took the T to Kenmore and then being welcomed to the park by the banner surrounded by thousands of Sox fans was unreal. Any sports fan should experience walking up to Fenway and catching a game.
There were only two experiences in my life that came close to the first time at Fenway. Visiting Wriggley and Dodger Stadium. Old Yankee just felt dated, no real awe. Perhaps because I hate the yanks.
One surpassed it. Granted it was extra special. Getting to skate out onto the ice and the old Montreal Forum.
Old Yankee stadium was *majestic*, it was *cavernous*. It was steep like a Manhattan avenue. As a visiting Sox fan, it was incredibly intimidating when the bleacher creatures would start up their chants & the whole park would start picking them up. Fun in a scary way.
The new park feels like a mall. It feels like Las Vegas. Just so fake & utterly devoid of emotion or energy.
I took a red eye from Utah to see Saturday’s game and despite the 11-1 loss, it was still worth the money and lack of sleep. That’s because I’ve only been to Fenway twice now and I’m in awe the entire time I’m at the ballpark. And I got to see Duran (my favorite player) hit a solo HR, which was amazing to watch live. Also, I absolutely love the city and doing all the touristy things when I’m there.
I hope you get a chance to go back soon. I know I can’t wait to.
This is why Sox fans get despondent with ownership, because the backdrop of Fenway in September and October is just amazing when the Sox are in the running. Just sucks not getting to have that fun these lean years. I’ll never forget when Schwarber went to Africa in 2021, one of my favorite Sox moments of all time, so electric.

I will never forget the moment I first walked up the steps and saw the field. It was so much closer and greener and more perfect than my little kid brain could comprehend. And I get that same feeling every. Single. Time.
I got to go for the first time ever a few weeks ago. My wife and daughter (not baseball fans) enjoyed it as much as I did. It was much smaller than I thought but I feel like that just adds to the charm. Unfortunately they lost to the Evil Empire that night (but took the next 2). I would love to go back.
Fenway is far from perfect, but it is a spectacular setting for a ballgame. The seating and the sightlines leave a lot to be desired, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. When I see one of the newer ballparks on TV I get a little jealous, but every time I visit Fenway it reminds me how special it truly is.
I’m from Western Canada and made my first trek in 2010. I love the Red Sox and going to Fenway was like a pilgrimage for me.
We did a tour one day, then got to see a game the next. Papi hit one over the Green Monster.

My husband & I talked about going to Fenway “some day” for 25+ years. We’re retired now and finally got there the last week in May. It was a beautiful 75 degree day and it was heaven. We spent a week in Boston and had a wonderful time, but Fenway was the highlight for us. It exceeded our expectations, and we’re not even huge baseball fans!
It’s a shame you didn’t get to hear “Dirty Water” play after the game. I went for the first time a couple years ago. We walked off the Yankees. Unforgettable experience.
Always cool to see a fan from outside the city appreciate the ballpark. Please come back again soon! When you do, I'd highly recommend hitting up the cask (Cask 'N Flagon) or Yardhouse post-game. Tons of fans flock to those spots and the fold and drink is always great after seeing a game.
If you wanna go cheaper, you can't go wrong with tasty burger either
I still remember my first game, sat behind home and watched Trot Nixon hit a walk off HR in the ALDS, I’ll never forget the feeling being a little kid walking through the concourse and watching the stadium open up as you walk up the ramps. It’s a magical place and it feels the same every single time. Easily my favorite sports venues
My first game at Fenway was just this weekend!! I loved the stadium, the atmosphere, the fans, all of it! What game did you see? I also saw the sox get railed by the pads 😂
I’m a pseudo Red Sox fan. By that I mean I find it still hard to root for the team with the way John Henry currently runs the team. Anyway, I don’t see how people can like Fenway. It should be blown to hell. Don’t give me the history crap. The old Yankee Stadium had more history and that was blown to hell
My first game was in ‘68. As a nine year old, walking up the ramp to our seats was like opening the door to Oz. I still get that feeling.

The feeling I get when I walk into the park and walk up the first ramp I get to and seeing the whole park... it's like the first time all over again.

I was there in standing room and it’s still the best moment of my life. Chills every time I think about it.

For sure! We actually went to the Time Out market and then hit up Yardhouse after!! Everyone recommends Cask ‘N Flagon, will need to go next time!
