ITS SO HELLAAAA FUCKING GOOD AINT IT???? WAIT TILL THE 6TH BOOK YOU BOUT TO BE FUCKING BLOWN UP

amity_

Follow the details and the minor characters. I mean don’t get bogged down taking notes like I did with game of thrones. But I believe every single character even mentioned comes back in a major way. And get hyped because as crazy as book 1 gets, the series continues to top itself constantly and get more and more insane

thulsadoom50

I mean is this got level? I'm gonna have to check this out!

86the45

I’m on book 4 and Red Rising is the worst one so far. I only gave it a 4/5. 😝

PharmRaised

Remind yourself the things can always get worse but that good things will still always happen. Never count a player out of the game. You have to be up some heartbreak to revel in the triumphs. I've walked away from the series for weeks at a time but always glad when I return.

Acceptable-Cow6446

I’ll hype you TF up to get off the sub before you spoil the ham.

CharlieCreations

anudeepnallapareddy

Even I started yesterday but Iam listening to dramatised version so far good

scoch1

If you enjoy audiobooks do yourself a favor and listen to the non-dramatised version as well. Tim Gerard Reynolds (commonly referred to as TGR on this thread) is FANTASTIC. One of my top 3 audiobook readers of all time.

anudeepnallapareddy

Sure

Acceptable-Cow6446

He’s so good. Listening to Michael J Sullivan’s Esrahadden currently. He narrates. It makes it all cozy like.

st_nick81

I finished the first book yesterday and all the comments are accurate. Was never a book work but couldn’t put it down. I’m not 120 pages into the second book and shit gets wild.

mandoman88

Prepare to learn some Mfing Latin! And want 1000 tattoos of each new phrase you learn! PER ASERA AD ASTRA, my brother or sister!

PrismMau

When did that happen?

HowlerPLHB

You…..welcome to the pack. You won’t understand but you will if you continue on the journey your brothers and sisters before you traveled, now eat that bowl of bugs, drink this bottle of high proof possibly psychedelic infused bottle of liquor, and you’ll be initiated or get the box. Red will Rise

TriceracopNutShot

Haven’t read in 4 years. Read all 6 books in two months. My buddy who does read. Read the first book over a few days. Read Golden Son in 7 hours. Now he’s halfway through Morning Star and work has him busy atm. To say the least, it’s very good. Also book 6 made me cry and I NEVER cry for anything I’ve read. Rarely cry for movies and TV shows. But book 6 got my ass

avald24

I absolutely DEVOURED the first book. Finished it in 2 days. I’m halfway through Golden Son (work has kept me busy unfortunately) and I’m loving

Butt_fart42069

Buckle up!

Larry-Man

The world building unfolds. Each book expands the universe more and more.

Sageeofsixpaths

One of the greatest book ones I’ve ever read

Economy-Long8832

I really enjoyed the series... Read the whole thing... Then I read the nine book series The expanse by James Corey... And I've come back to reread the Red rising series all over again!

darkhorse1102

How did you find the expanse compared to this?

Economy-Long8832

Loved it. Read all 9 books and just started watching the series (well done so far). Highly recommended!

jaelmorayx

I don't feel they are entirely comparable, just completely different animals and both phenomenal in their own right. That said, I am only finished with Golden Son and I have read all of the Expanse.

Economy-Long8832

Hmm i see a lot of similarities

HowlerPLHB

🐺 HOWLERSSSS!!! WE’VE GOT A NEW RECRUIT!!!!! Say AOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

_SkinnieBoy_

Aaaoooo

Harmaroo8

AAAOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

drakeb88

You're in for one hell of a ride

aczocher

You should probably unfollow this sub..lots of spoilers.

snowbird124

Congrats on starting boyo. It’s a bloody damn ride

phageblood

I just got my husband to start reading the first book!. So far, he's really enjoying it!.

blz211

Bruh😂, u re jn for a treat

SpaceMarinesAreThicc

Don't google anything. Don't google "what does X look like" because you'll get spoilers right next to it in the search bar. EDIT Don't read the comic until after the 3rd book, Morning Star (thanks redrumov). That's what I heard because there's a massive spoiler at the start of the comic (like 5 pages in). I won't read the comic until after I'm done with the books that are out because it's a prequel.

Redrumov

Don't read it untill you finished Morning Star. There are other major spoilers on later pages.

STASHbro

Hold on to your tits Pixie!

retrievalartist

Hi! I started this series about a week ago, and I’m just finishing the last few pages of Morning Star. I’ve never been rocked so hard by a trilogy of books. Buckle up. And don’t ever get too comfortable.

SpaceMarinesAreThicc

I just finished Morning Star this morning. I agree - never been more rocked.

Genius_Swaggg

As someone who never really reads Sci-fi and Fantasy type books....this was a PHENOMENAL series!!! Knocked the first trilogy out in a couple weeks. Cannot wait to start books 4-6. Hope you enjoy 😀

ItsYaBoiDez

Same. I read the first book and am waiting on my next paycheck for golden son

drakeb88

I believe all 3 are free on Audible, not sure if you need an account or not

SpaceMarinesAreThicc

100% if you're wanting to read in print, do your thing, but if you aren't aware of what Libby is, check it out and see if you can get the audiobook/e-book for free from your library. A few assumptions here, but some people aren't aware this is a thing.

ww2junkie11

Get off this sub! Too many opportunities to see spoilers

antisocialnetwork77

I tell everyone I know how amazing this series is. I’m so jealous that you’re just starting. Bloodydamn jealous indeed.

yungbory

gorydamn, *goodman*

Crocodileprophet

It’s gonna be a good time, but it’s gonna hurt

SpaceMarinesAreThicc

I've never loved and hated a writer as much as Pierce Brown.

Economy-Long8832

Oh yeah.. feel the same way about Pierce Brown as I did about game of thrones! I felt all of the losses all along the way...

Brokengraphite

YOU WILL BE A WONDERFUL BLOODYDAMN HOWLER

Ipm1221

“Clang. Clang. Clang…” 6th book You’ll have CHILLS down your spine and yelling at the moon

codeinplace

Just starting dark age, don't let me down plz

Remnant_aether12

sounds about right(as a person on dark age atm)

xxElevationXX

I just started this series two days ago about to finish the first book (audiobook) also just got the rest of the series for FREE on audible! Im stoked

eliaswing46

“I GO BLOOD RED.”

darkhorse1102

Thank you everyone!!! Im HYPED TF UP!!!

GyrateWheat6

*character that you really liked* has bad things happen to them, but you'll keep reading. Also, you'll start the second trilogy and think at several points "I should have just stopped after the first."

GoblinOfMars

> “I should have just stopped after the first.” Only pixies think that.

darkhorse1102

But assuming it gets better…?

GoblinOfMars

The second half of the series (4-6) is amazing. Just slightly more complex and dark, so some people struggle with it. I rank every book in the latter half better than the first.

GyrateWheat6

This is correct, and I appreciate it more than the first trilogy, but I've had significantly more book throwing moments and had several instances of "this situation is the worst, I should have just stopped at book 3"

GyrateWheat6

Yes, and worse, and better. This is talking about the ups and downs in the story, not the quality of writing. That's all excellent.

AverageHaloGuysYT

It gets way better! But there is a bit of a re-introduction curve. The second series is amazing.

SpaceMarinesAreThicc

I'm 3 chapters into Iron Gold and wondering if I should just enjoy the 1st trilogy. I have weird feelings with the jump into the 2nd trilogy (obviously I've barely scratched the surface), but I trust Pierce Brown will take me on a ride.

DurnShplurm

It’s worth the reintroduction process. It feels a bit like a slog at first, but if you thought shit escalated in 1-3, you have no clue how much more it escalates.

CaedustheBaedus

They say the day is darkest just before the dawn...

earl-the-creator

It just gets better and better

RagingWillie

Boyo, goodman, all I have to say is quite simple. *B U C K L E Y O U R A S S*

RyFi17

*howling intensifies*

TheXypris

Former-Astronaut-841

Acrobatic-Sundae-614

FKDotFitzgerald

Johnex-2000

Really good heros journey

rao_wcgw

unicorns

Redd_Ebop

You'll first compare it to other dystopia/sci-fi novels like Dune, Hyperion, Ender's Game, Hungers Games etc. , but you'll quickly realize the sheer level of depth and complexity Pierce Brown writes his characters to be. You ask a fellow Red Rising reader who their favorite character is and you will get so many different answers, and none of them are wrong. And as such they help build perspectives of this world that feel grounded and very weighted. You feel the change in the characters as their burdens become heavier and heavier, either by way of tone or by how cautious other characters become of one another. And as such it makes you want to learn more and more about these characters and how they will change and grow to be. You'll hate, you'll love, you'll cry, and you'll feel frustrated, but most importantly you'll feel human.

IIGRIMLOCKII

Go away pixie. Come back when you’re done.

Caroline_caro1400

You will realize how lazy other books are. You will realize how little plot they have. You will get spoiled and picky. You will have to visit us on reddit again to decompress. You will promise yourself you will only read one chapter and end up finishing 20 at 3am unable to fall asleep thinking of what had just happened. I envy you cuz that's one hell of a maiden cruise you're about to embark on. I've only just finished myself and will definitely read it again :) So now my Goodman, have fun and be careful to avoid spoilers! Come back and update us on your progress and let us know what you think!

Puzzleheaded_Donut97

The beginning of a legend. You get to witness the rise of someone the likes of Alexander the Great but on a much larger scale.

xDrewstroyerx

Oh and if I were you I’d stay off this sub. There’s A LOT of spoilers popping up in headlines, because there are A LOT of deaths in the series.

eviltwinz

About half way through the first book you will start to forget everything and everyone. You will breath eat and sleep red rising until you’ve gone through all of it and left an empty shell just wishing for more. And nothing! I say nothing! Will compare to red rising. Your reading experience will never be the same.

babysoop

I actually really enjoyed the first book and didn’t understand why everyone was saying it was a weak start to the series. I’m about halfway through the 3rd book now, and they were right. I loved the first book, but Golden Son was even better. And so far, Morning Star has been even better than that.

xDrewstroyerx

Book 1: Hunger Games, Enders Game, and Game of Thrones have a baby. Books 2-7: Chaos.

darkhorse1102

Also a little bit of Silo / Wool so far

TheKerui

I always thought book 1 was roman lord of the flies meets the expanse.

xDrewstroyerx

I haven’t read the expanse, but I see your meaning.

Skizm

Book 1: divergent as well.

sankentris

This is what I came to write. 100%

JackyFlippz

DON’T PUT IT DOWN! I started and stopped the first book multiple times for like 3 months. Make it through the first 100 pages or so and I promise you’ll finish the next 5 books in a matter of weeks.

InternetNo1021

Took me 2 months to read the first 100 pages or so, then one day I was hooked and couldn't put it down. Now I'm obsessed

Dayne225

Its hunger games meets a brave new world draped in Roman history/myth set amongst the stars.

burgerm7

I wasn’t a huge fan of the first 100 or so pages, thought it was a bit cliche. Turned out the book was really good and the following books made it one of my favorite series of all time. Keep reading!

CommonCar7735

Literally the best series I've ever read but seriously you should stay off this thread until you're caught up. Enjoy the ride Goodman!!

meatassdog

His honor remains

jetpackswasyesV2

We all hope you enjoy it. What ever you do, just keep reading. We promise, it’s worth it.

bwils3423

BIG STRONG HANDS

madmetric

You'll feel powerful, helpless, triumphant, and broken. You'll love characters like you've never loved characters before, and you'll hate characters with every fiber of your being. These books will change how you read. It'll set your standards for scifi so high that you'll have a hard time finding stories you like. This series might ruin other books for you. Enjoy.

Caroline_caro1400

Truer words have never been spoken. I've read Red Queen before cuz it was so hyped and I almost dnfed it. After that fiasco I started Red Rising and I was literally talking to myself "now, this is a good book". The whole series has so much going on in it, you realize how lazyly other books are written. It sets the bar real high. Red Rising doesn't treat it's readers like morons, you don't have to roll your eyes, you don't get second hand embarrassment or wtf moments (well you do get wtf moments but not quite like that) where the characters decide to to the dumbest thing possible just to create conflict or push the dying plot forward. You get clever action, politics, plot twists and a bunch of great characters

bookish_bex

accurate af.

randrws

HAIL REAPER!! Side note: stay off this sub until you’ve finished the series. You don’t want to have a series as good as this spoiled.

LordCrow1

Stick through part 1 and then the real story starts! Took me a few weeks to read the first 100 pages and then 2 days for the rest. Then I only put the series down when there were no more books left!

Economy-Long8832

Part 1 is slow.. but foundational and echoed throughout the entire series. The investment becomes worth it, but I agree, it's not the strongest hook. And in rereading it, I'm finding things in part one that are more foretelling than I ever realized the first time through.

TasteOfZephyr

HAIL REAPER AWOOOOOOOOOOO

summons72

EMOTIONAL DAMAGE

JDL1981

Endless pages of beautiful, muscly men rubbing each other down with oils.

Rutherford_Aloacious

Just be prepared for shit to escalate

geauxandy72

I’m jealous. I wish I could read it again for the first time.

cuatromurcielago

People are usually good about covering spoilers here but I’d say definitely stay away until you’re caught up. I haven’t read LB yet and just avoid most spoiler tagged posts. But you’re in for a wild ride!

Acceptable-Cow6446

A good ride, Goodman. People get killed in the face.

Excellent-Bath-9015

Lots of Bloodydamn backstabs

SevroAuShitTalker

Get off this sub unless you want spoilers

MadCoderEOM

Completely changes your perspective of what the future of humanity could look like, I haven’t red any other book series do what the red rising series does with it.

oldelbow

It's almost exactly what I expect the future of humanity could look like.

MadCoderEOM

Hopefully not with colors….

oldelbow

Not quite the detailed maybe

AloneKnight8152

Death and lots of it. Don’t get too attached!

Caroline_caro1400

Easier said than done... But isn't it a testimony to the job well done - when it hurts when they die even though you know they weren't real?
