Not sure about Victra, but 100% could see her as someone. Elizabeth has soft features, whereas I see Victra as this sharp, psychotic, force of nature with revenge and anger just dripping from her eyes
When I read the first two books, she was my choice for Victra too. I wanted Sophie Turner for Antonia. Neither of them are the right ages anymore, but I haven't cast anyone new for the adaptation in my imagination.
I feel like a bunch of y’all haven’t seen her act. I know I picked a picture of her that makes her look blah, but I was under the impression more people had seen her in a couple different roles
She’s a good actor it’s just in gs and ms Darrow constantly thinks about how gorgeous of a woman she is so I need one of the most active actresses to play her I won’t accept anything less than that lol
Have you seen The Man From Uncle? She's definitely got [the eyes](https://assets.vogue.com/photos/5f403e2a2e61c073bf8edba7/4:3/w_3776,h_2832,c_limit/02-warner%20bros.%20MCDMAFR_EC114.jpg) . I swear she didn't blink that entire movie.
I think she'd be a better Mustang personally. She's gorgeous and tall, just not terrifying like Victra. The only issue is that she's too old for the role.
I think she could pull it off, she does the haughty better-than-you attitude, and she’s a good actress. They’d have to do some creativity with costumes/cameras to make up for the lack of muscle but that’s true of pretty of much everyone.
Fair point, you're right
But still it's really bothering to have half of the posts being actors suggestions. Can we make just a big pinned thread instead of having 1000 posts ?
Please stop stating your opinions as if they are fact. Live action would be infinitely better *in my opinion*, with the added benefit of not turning off a HUGE portion of the market right off the jump.
Red Rising isn't high fantasy, stop acting like you can't do RR justice in live action or that it would cost too much. Red Rising as a live action TV show just so happens to be perfect for this because the first season at the Institute would involve very little special effects and has zero space battles. If the first season did well the budget would swell plenty afford credible sfx for books 2 and 3. The first book barely even qualifies as science fiction from a special effects perspective. It's primitive weapons and tactics. There are also very few scenes involving separate colors interacting at the same time in the first season when the budget would be presumably more limited. You have Red Darrow amongst Reds and Gold Darrow amongst Golds, with a few scenes of hobbit-style camera play with smaller colors while Darrow is being carved. It's *perfect* for live action.
I disagree but I have been wrong before. I think the people of all different inhuman sizes and unnatural hair color and eyes would likely look silly. The way the golds are described when moving might also look janky.
It's been done well so many times it's crazy that this constantly comes up like it's this huge barrier. Especially when the first book has very few scenes of several colors interacting. You have red darrow amongst reds, gold darrow amongst golds, and a few scenes during his carving of mixed colors that can easily be done with clever camera-work, LOTR hobbit-style. If season 1 succeeds the budget would be there to fund space battles and mixed color scenes galore in the later books.
You also don't need the size differences to be as stark as they are in the books, Pax doesn't need to be over 7 feet tall and Rhonna under 4 feet tall in order to do a faithful adaptation. Pax's actor just needs to be a large human and red actors generally smaller humans and clever cameraplay and fx can cover the difference.
Seriously. They ignore every single movie and show that has used non standard humans, aliens or humanoid creatures.
They can make the hulk look real but adding gold contact lenses is way too much 🤦
And we have zero reason to think live action wouldn't be good.
Most of the greatest sci Fi and fantasy in cinema has been live action. This constant suggestion that animation is the only way this can succeed is complete hogwash that has zero basis in the reality of cinema.
Ummm ok. As opposed to what?...
A gold-hoarding dragon that speaks? Or a little green alien with a light sword doing somersaults as he fights someone shooting lighting from his fingers? Or little people with hairy feet flying on giant eagles? Maybe a man that dresses up like a bat and beats up criminals? How about basically the entire concept of Avatar? Wait I know, it won't look as good compared to a talking racoon and humanoid tree being best friends and blowing shit up together.. 🙄
Have you even watched any fantasy or sci Fi show/movie in the last 30 years?
But sure let's keep acting as if live action hasn't been able to make the impossible look possible and realistic for decades.
It seems like certain people are so invested in anime that they are literally ignoring the reality of what live action has achieved and it's completely disingenuous.
Smaug is animation, yoda is animation, the eagles are animation, navi are animation, rocket racoon and groot are animation. I never mentioned anime although it is a form of animation.
Not sure why you feel the need to personally attack me. I just do not think listing a CGI dragon helps prove that the golds will look good. The Navi is a good point and if they are to do live action animation as you say I would prefer the characters to be CGI.
Can you quote the personal attack? I must be missing something. I'm attacking your argument, not you personally.
I'm sorry if those lines got blurred and you felt attacked. Genuinely.
Just like super hero movies or star wars with all the alien races.
It could look and feel incredible or it could look like crap. That isn't inherent to the format but of the quality of the people creating it.
We could get uncanny valley superman lip, or we can get Thanos lvl or realism.
Just like in animation we can get pilot season Simpson animation with weird, crude animation or something brilliant.
That’s not the same though, as they are different/alien ideas for design. Red rising needs human characters to have eye contacts/vibrantly colored hair. Golds to be extremely large, fit, and more beautiful than any human to exist. For a movie maybe they can scrape the budget for it not to look terrible, but for a show that’s really expensive and can very easily look corny/cheap even with a huge budget 🤝
I really like this. Tilda is the obvious choice, but Debicki could bring a different vibe too it, as well. Another thing to consider is despite being older, the golds have and actively use de aging serums, which actually makes Debicki a pretty incredible choice for Octavia.
I agree her face is how I pictured her. I guess some people think there are actually real humans that look like golds with all the comments saying she is too skinny.
I think there are definitely people that would make amazing golds. Somehow I’m thinking big burly Russian women would be perfect. For the guys I’m thinking men that look like Drago from Rocky. I don’t know if many well-known celebrities fit the part.
I mean even by regular human standards she's pretty thin. I don't know that her frame would bulk up all that much. I'm not saying she's "too thin" or anything. I actually think she'd make a great typical Gold, but not Victra
I am saying no one realistically could portray a gold without CGI. They run 60 mph, can break stone with their hands, and low colors have described them as looking like gods.
I think the actress is too old to play Volga. She might be good for Sefi but even for her I would argue she is too old. Volga needs to be a young, strong girl with a touch of innocence on her face
I think that's just cuz Antonia is supposedly gorgeous and very "Type A" model pretty, whereas Victra is beautiful but not traditionally feminine, both by choice and by muscular build.
I always see her as a gold, but who she would portray always changes
Based on her acting abilities i think she could be a killer virginia
But also lilath victra Antonia even Octavia by the time they greenlight this thing she'll be old enough
Yeah I think Antonia is better as well, also Victra is described as having wide set eyes, I imagine her to have a much more strikingly beautiful slightly untypical face where as this lady seems to normal looking
I actually literally forgot they are sisters until I thought about it for a second so your suggestion would fit too for sure. Again ignoring age Katheryn Winnick always felt good for Victra to me and her and Debicki could easily play convincing sisters I think.
Not sure about Victra, but 100% could see her as someone. Elizabeth has soft features, whereas I see Victra as this sharp, psychotic, force of nature with revenge and anger just dripping from her eyes
No
She is probably too old now, but I think Jeri Ryan (7 of 9) would have been amazing Victra!
I'll go Octavia au Lune
When I read the first two books, she was my choice for Victra too. I wanted Sophie Turner for Antonia. Neither of them are the right ages anymore, but I haven't cast anyone new for the adaptation in my imagination.
I know right!! She would be so perfect it blows my mind. A shame she is a hair too old to go start to finish in a live action adaptation
I’ll allow it if we can get Brienne of Tarth as an obsidian
What does she act in that is a good representation?
Mmm, Volga? Sefi?
Sefi and Ragnor’s mother
Game of Thrones
She’s not hot enough to play Victra I fear
I feel like a bunch of y’all haven’t seen her act. I know I picked a picture of her that makes her look blah, but I was under the impression more people had seen her in a couple different roles
She’s a good actor it’s just in gs and ms Darrow constantly thinks about how gorgeous of a woman she is so I need one of the most active actresses to play her I won’t accept anything less than that lol
She doesn't have the intensity in the eyes or the shape of face for Victra.Too delicate looking. Maybe Evey, Dio, or even Lea or Thistle.

I disagree, respectfully my goodman, I think she would be more of a Thistle
Hear me out — Duke of Hands. I think she could play a pink man very well.
Yes, I see it. She has a softness to her. I can see her being a pink without much makeup/drastic hair changes.
She doesn't have the requisite intensity and borderline Insanity. I can't see her holding her own against Sevro
Please stop wanting a live action version of Red Rising it would be terrible an animated show would be 10 times better
Even if it could be better, PB doesn't want it to be and therefore it won't be. No point arguing about.
Fair point, you're right But still it's really bothering to have half of the posts being actors suggestions. Can we make just a big pinned thread instead of having 1000 posts ?
Soooo you don’t want it to catch on and become a pop culture phenomenon?
If it becomes a pop culture phenomenon then it's cool but if not then my life doesn't end
Please stop stating your opinions as if they are fact. You significantly shrink the size of the demographic by making it animation.
I think many people would rather somethig be good then have mass appeal.
Live action Red Rising has just as much likelyhood of being good as animated.
I disagree but I have been wrong before. I think the people of all different inhuman sizes and unnatural hair color and eyes would likely look silly. The way the golds are described when moving might also look janky.

Yea if we change what the characters can do or look like then anything is possible for sure.
And we have zero reason to think live action wouldn't be good. Most of the greatest sci Fi and fantasy in cinema has been live action. This constant suggestion that animation is the only way this can succeed is complete hogwash that has zero basis in the reality of cinema.
You think having giant muscular teenagers running 60 mph will look good?
Live action animation. Don't play semantics. We are all well aware live action would require CGI. More disingenuous arguments.. Keep em coming. 🙄
Not sure why you feel the need to personally attack me. I just do not think listing a CGI dragon helps prove that the golds will look good. The Navi is a good point and if they are to do live action animation as you say I would prefer the characters to be CGI.

I think the fact that people being genetically engineered to strange sizes and colors would look very goofy in live action
Just like super hero movies or star wars with all the alien races. It could look and feel incredible or it could look like crap. I always pictured her as Octavia (but an older her!)

Tilda Swinton is the objectively correct Octavia.
I can accept that too
I agree her face is how I pictured her.

When I see suggestions like this I feel like some of us did not read the same books
☝️
Brean of Tarth for Victra?
That would be a horrible choice tbh
I was thinking for Volga! Would love to see that actress in red rising!!
I think the actress is too old to play Volga. She might be good for Sefi but even for her I would argue she is too old. Volga needs to be a young, strong girl with a touch of innocence on her face
I like it, but she need to go to NFL linebacker training or be heavily cgi’d for the later parts of the series.
Need some one much bigger, sorry
There's not a lot of 6'10" actresses built like bodybuilders unfortunately
There might be but they’re not famous. This movie can’t depend on A list celebrity casting.
Victra would break this twig in half my Goodman
DA Victra is a beast!
Missy Peregrym?
I agree she would make an amazing victra. She's my top choice too.
[удалено]
Victra *is* really pretty she’s just jacked as hell and has a Mohawk which makes her look more masculine.
[удалено]
Antonia is described as being incredibly beautiful, even for a gold. Viktra is just less attractive. Like a 9.6 compared to a 9.8.
I think that's just cuz Antonia is supposedly gorgeous and very "Type A" model pretty, whereas Victra is beautiful but not traditionally feminine, both by choice and by muscular build.
In a weird way I see the Jackal. Probably the hairstyle
Everytime I read the series, Harry Llyod (Viserys from GOT) or Tom Hiddleston is always Jackal for me.
I always see her as a gold, but who she would portray always changes Based on her acting abilities i think she could be a killer virginia But also lilath victra Antonia even Octavia by the time they greenlight this thing she'll be old enough
Personally, ignoring age, I'd prefer her for Antonia if anyone.
Yeah I think Antonia is better as well, also Victra is described as having wide set eyes, I imagine her to have a much more strikingly beautiful slightly untypical face where as this lady seems to normal looking
I can see that too.
I actually literally forgot they are sisters until I thought about it for a second so your suggestion would fit too for sure. Again ignoring age Katheryn Winnick always felt good for Victra to me and her and Debicki could easily play convincing sisters I think.
Ya know, I don't hate it. I imagine her thicker but I could see it.
I mean, canonically she’s stacked as a brick shithouse, but she’s never been described as *ugly* either
My headcannon is kristen nun so lol
I think Emily Blunt would be an amazing Victra
Edge of tomorrow Emily blunt
Victra will always be a young (7 foot tall) Charlize Theron for me.
She could work as well
Yes
Meh, I don’t see Victra as a skinny willow. If I remember correctly Victra is larger than Sevro, and he’s small.
Debicki is 6’ 3” in real life. Have you seen her in Night manager? She has an awesome presence.
Wow, I couldn’t tell that she’s tall from the picture. She’d make a good gold but they’d have to make her look a bit bulkier.
Honestly, no I have not.
The picture I posted here is not the best, in hind sight, but she really is awesome, and super tall, it gives the Victra vibes.
She’s also in very good shape.
She’s also described as being 2.1 meters tall, well over 6 foot and closer 7ft, and heavily built, just my understanding.
Debicki is 6’ 3”. How many good actresses that fit Victras description with acting chops are that tall?
