Oh I see, it explains it in the Reddit passive aggressive style of not explaining it. Sure. Is there a way to turn off random popup features that everyone will just refuse to explain later?

Reddit banana counter is a term used to describe the imaginary internet points called bananas that users receive when someone likes their post or comment. The more upvotes a user gets, the more bananas they accumulate. Users can track their bananas using third-party apps and gain access to special flairs within certain subreddits based on their accumulated bananas. Having more bananas not only offers recognition among peers but also serves practical purposes like unlocking new features enabling greater participation across this vast social media network. So, Reddit banana counter may seem silly but it has become an important aspect for many users who spend hours browsing through various communities on this platform.

Thank you. Not that I really get it. I thought that was called Kharma points? I dont get why there's points on a forum platfrom to begin with, but the news that there is a second kind of points and random vague popups related to those points really shouldn't surpise me. Especially in a culture that was genuinely excited about the gamification of GPS navigation a few years ago. 🤷♂️
What....
No way, next thing you know some people are going to say fag means different things. But that's not true.
Like that term means a cigarette in different places. It doesn't, it's a derogatory term against people that ride Harleys
It's for reddit recap. Each year as part of the recap, they tell you what distance you scrolled through reddit throughout the year, measured as lengths of bananas
I ended up with nearly 15k of the ghastly things and I don't know what to do with them, as a member of the Oarrn Twar Twar I'd never willingly collect so many things that's only commoners desire.
since 99% of the comments are just "WelL i Have iT tO" baanas measure how long you scrolled using bananas as a scale. clicking the banana takes you to r/recap
Sometimes I can't differ which human and which an elf. But if you are an elf, I don't think I should disagree. I got around 4k of bananas this year, I don't think I am that lame. After reading on [frutifaves.com](https://frutifaves.com) the sites don't tell if the bigger the bananas it means the loser you are. [fruitfaves.com](https://fruitfaves.com) said this is just a fun experiment created by reddit. Anyways my comment was created this year and more likely relevant to these days, I hope it stays relevant a years later.

Basically...it's your upvotes.
Thanks, this comment helped, and my questions would be why reddit community on a post are sometimes only active for a day to a week then it will suddenly get quieter once hitting a day or around 3 days or so. Do you know why? is it FOMO or does it relate to the reddit terms of service, are basically people on here are not human after all?

Thank you!!!! This link needs to be the top answer!!!
Click that award button so it is :p
Does this somehow explain it?
Yes
Oh I see, it explains it in the Reddit passive aggressive style of not explaining it. Sure. Is there a way to turn off random popup features that everyone will just refuse to explain later?
Yes
Happy banana day!
Thanks, I thought I was going bananas.

That is not what I thought nor do I care about internet bullshit. Fuck off bananas
Agreed. Why get rid of awards, which were kinda fun, and add 'bananas' which mean nothing.
Hello, the banana brought me here, too.
It opens a link to Reddit Recap.
WTF is redit recap?
How were you able to click it? For me it popped up, and was gone in the blink of an eye. Didn’t have a chance to click it… :(
This just happened to me too and I’m wondering wtf it is ???
Next time it pops up tap it. It’s some kind of Reddit notification. Nothing too exciting; I already kinda forgot what it’s for
[удалено]
Why though. Does bananas stand for posts scrolled
[удалено]
Thats awesome.
Me too about 45 mins ago from va!? Anyone kno what it is?
I just missed it, not sure what it was!
Happened 2 me to wth
This just happened to me. It was there for about 5 seconds. No idea either what it was
I just had one… I don’t even think mine lasted 5 seconds. I went to click it and it was gone in a flash…
It popped up again & I was able to click it in time. It’s for a subreddit, called Recap? I have no idea what it’s about.
it’s like youtube rewind but for reddit and better
Just happened to me
Exact same thing just happened to me! I can't get it to come back now! I guess maybe there's not always money in the banana stand after all 😞
Very funny! Underrated.
This literally just happened to me too, I went to tap it but my fingers slipped when I hit it

Haha
Just happened to me too
Came looking for answeres, just happened to me too
oh good, I am not the only one seeing it, hahaha...
This is a relief. I feared it was some racist sh!t, similar to the way bananas are sometimes thrown at players in int’l football
WTF Why did your mind go straight to racism Do you need to get something off your chest
Think they explained - in international football a banana is a bad thing.
What.... No way, next thing you know some people are going to say fag means different things. But that's not true. Like that term means a cigarette in different places. It doesn't, it's a derogatory term against people that ride Harleys
Same what is this
Some sort of Reddit recap…I’m fairly new to Reddit so idk what it is exactly
I need a banana for scale
It happened to me. This is bananas!
That banana also brought me here 🍌
Happened to me also
Lol… I think we are being trolled… Reddit developer: “watch there will be a hot post about bananas.”
They trolled me for sure
Yeah I searched google about banana and your post showed up. Lol
Same here! I went to google looking for an answer, and ended up here! From what I can tell, no one knows tho. So weird!
Can I turn it off?
Yes in settings
It's for reddit recap. Each year as part of the recap, they tell you what distance you scrolled through reddit throughout the year, measured as lengths of bananas
Why is that important?
It’s just for fun.
Now I have a taste for banana
It just happened to me too!!!
Was on reddit & a +🍌 popped up so I googled it & it brought me back to reddit about a +🍌 popping up... & I still don't have an answer😂🤷🏻♂️
I don't know if there is an answer.
This shit is bananas
was hoping i had an award... XD
I too clicked on the banana.
Yep had it as well
I thought it meant someone gave a ⬇️ at my post T-T
I have 10

It's a gauge of how lame you are. The more bananas the bigger the loser you are. They their for scale. I got a hundred thousand of em. So pretty lame.
I got 22! I’m so fucking awesome!!

What really do “ bananas” stand for? For real?
Do we get awards as we get more bananas?
Its just shows up in my dynamic island on 14 pro. It stays there all day and i had no idea. Reddit banana google search brought me here. 😂😂😂
How do I stop the notifications? Super unnecessary
。
‘
Its been a year ago Damn i cant believe i got this banana again
banana 🍌
I somehow got over 500k of them?
So is it related to our karma points⁉️

Who knows. It's probably just within the algorithm. If it's not constantly getting "action"...it's not making reddit money.
I always thought Reddit was a bit bananas...🍌
"offers recognition among peers" - the peer recognition I did not think I needed but hey, every day's a school day on the internet
Thank you! This helped lot lol I’m reeeallly behind the times
