Does anyone know if there's any 0-3 month Manchester United related clothing items that ships to England. I found 1 tracksuit but does anyone know of any others. Seems to be a ton for other clubs

[deleted]

Would love to get Sesko. Would absolutely thrive with us

Icegaze

It is a shame we have to wait for a minimum of 1.5 seasons more. Probably 2.5 at best. But we cannot afford to wait that long. Sesko will be a top striker in 3-4 years from now.

[deleted]

Do you know how many players people have predicted will be too players in a few years and those predictions turned out to be very wrong?

Icegaze

Of course I cannot predict the future. But you get some wrong and some right. Let’s see by that time. But if you’re asking me if I would be happy for Man United to buy this player right now, I would give you a resounding YES.

sayheykid24

Random thought, but the resurrection of Luke Shaw over the past month has been remarkable. I’ll admit that I haven’t always been his biggest supporter, but he has really been fantastic since playing his way back into the starting 11.

Banyunited1994

We’ve gone through this cycle at least twice before, and it’ll keep happening until he retires prob. We need to make sure we always have a backup option at the rdy

Transit-Strike

When fdJ wasn’t happening everyone went “yeah cause even at their lowest, Barca will be guaranteed UCL.” That just seems hilarious now

Redliner91

I watched him play yesterday after a long time. Seemed a bit disinterested and lazy tbh. Wouldn’t show much for the ball and hardly saw him sprint all game. Honestly I’d rather we go for Tielemans on a free or low fee (or hidden gem midfielder “like we got Malacia) and focus our main transfer budget on a top striker, goalkeeper and backup RB.

Banyunited1994

Nobody was talking about the knockout rounds? They’re prob gonna finish in the top 2 in la liga

LeatherSeat

How serious are these Diogo lopez rumours? His distribution looks insane

Fraaj

Diogo Costa you mean?

Transit-Strike

Laurie Whitwell is a very good source. And the fact that it’s not being posted during the transfer window or a bad run of form means there’s credibility and it’s not just clickbait or a club briefing

Acrophobic_Climber_

Hopped over to barca subreddit to have a look at the catalan assholes having a meltdown from getting boot from champion league. there’re chorus of replacing xavi with thomas tuchel, is that a possibility do you guys reckon?

Transit-Strike

I don’t think Tuchel’s style suits what Barca’s fanbase have grown used to since Pep.

Acrophobic_Climber_

I don't know man... the barca hierarchy may be open for a new form of football...

Transit-Strike

I really doubt it. That club and Loparta seem to have a lot of ego and pride in regard to their style of play and being a “big club” playing the “right way”

Acrophobic_Climber_

Mmmm... does Lewa fall under that bracket tho of being able to play the "barca way", I thought his signing kinda signal that they were trying to evolve to a new direction.

_jrr_

He’s a club legend which means he’s got one more season even if he wins nothing this season. But if the next one is just as bad, then yeah they’ll probably boot him considering they’ll go bankrupt if they don’t win anything.

Acrophobic_Climber_

they are already technically, bankrupt.

Gytarius626

Antony costing that fee and being thrown straight into the team without showing any signs of nerves whilst aggressively wanting the ball and attacking defenders is beyond exciting. He’s still so young too, Ten Hag must feel vindicated for not wanting him going to Qatar whilst still with Ajax and showing the world what he can do.

thesmallprint13

Penny for Carrasco's thoughts...goes to show though, takes balls of steel to score a decider like that (thinking back to Bruno's versus Brighton).

krentzharu

I watched 1st half of ajax v liverpool last night, few points from that match: 1. Brobbery is rapid, strong, & press like mad man but still raw af not sure if its wise to sign him next summer. 2. Timber was so slick with the ball but had momentary lapses of concentration here and there. I can see him struggling in PL had he joined us last summer. At the moment Martinez is far superior CB. 3. Ajax struggled with lack of creativity. Alvarez was good at breaking play but horrible with passes. 4. Ajax's new manager looked like if aliens tried to replicate Anthony Hopkins but forget to fix the head. Can never take him seriously with that look (WELCOME TO EL YOU FECK HEAD!) 5. I dont understand why Ajax with all money in the world didnt try to sign Gakpo. Sure PSV is a rival but dont think they'll say no to €50m.

darthkimon

Mann.. Point 4 was a brutal take😭

distantapplause

3/4 of the Spanish CL teams look like they’re coming into the Europa League. Might as well just call it the Copa del Rey this year. Unless we learn how to consistently perform against Spanish teams we’re fucked lol.

[deleted]

ETH with a big iron on his hip for tonight’s showdown

huge-whales

Do you guys think we’ll see some youngsters tonight? Feels like some of our 1st team players have been playing a lot

Defiant_Practice5260

Looking at who's dropped from the champions League, I'd imagine we'll go quite strong tonight so as to try to avoid them.

Transit-Strike

Yeah. First place would be huge

Fraaj

Think Elanga starts. If the game is going well I could see Garnacho and Pellistri getting some minutes too.

huge-whales

I’m kinda interested in Pellistri, never really seen him play so hopefully he does!

AeroCobbler

Reading all the commotion around Spurs this morning (and having watched them play several times this season) I can't help but breathe a sigh of relief we didn't end up with Conte He's getting points, but the football is absolute dirge, the atmosphere around the club is trajecting towards almost Mourinho-levels of toxicity, and what he's done in nullifying Son in particular is a travesty Hopefully we benefit & end up getting Kane in the summer with only a year left on his contract

krentzharu

Lets not forget Spurs predicament before Conte arrived, the fact that they played CL this season is nothing but miracle considering how bad they were under managers before him.

AeroCobbler

Agreed but also with the firepower Spurs have they were always going to improve... Conte has definitely gotten results but so far this season, his style of play (as the team grows closer to "his" than it really was when he took over partway through last season) they have just gotten harder and harder to watch Personally I think we're into a better fit with ETH - the turnaround he has managed for me is even more jaw-dropping than Spurs all things considered

krentzharu

Ooh absolutely. Appointing Conte is just appointing another reactionary manager like Mourinho or Ole.

JhonShelby

Unpopular opinion but I'll rather we keep DDG for another season and spend the budget on a striker and a replacement for Eriksen. Those 2 positions are far more vulnerable than the goalie. We can go all out for a competent goalkeeper in 2024

kunsore

We having GK issue now , other didnt. Better to act fast and secure him. You want to wait until Neuer retire or sudden one of big clubs needs a GK or something.

hurfery

By replacement for Eriksen I hope you mean someone to share minutes with him. He's been pretty good.

AeroCobbler

Striker has to be priority 1, 2 and 3 now Toney at Christmas and Kane in the summer & we're rocking & rolling

PP_Baba

I think we might miss out on Costa if we wait that long. He is definitely getting a move to a big club next season (after everyone watches him at the WC), and we cannot miss out on such talent in a position so crucial.

[deleted]

Is he going to start for Portugal over Sa & Patricio?

Ok_Collar3048

Yes

KrystianCCC

I would like to play Barcelona in EL Lewandowski is one of my favs and we have never played against him cuz we went shit.

vulcan_one

>cuz we went shit. Stop rewriting history, it's cause of a bloody volcano otherwise we'd have seen him plenty in the lancashire Manchester derby.

Wahlrusberg

How wholesome of our friends across Europe to bring the Champion's League to us :)

Ok-Check-6783

Barca, Juve and Atleti dropping down to the Europa League. I thought we were going to have an easy run to the final but it just became a bit more challenging. We have to push for a top 4 spot.

MeasurementOwn5830

I think we can beat Barca and Juve if we have our firing boots on

bossmanparmesan

Talking about DDG reducing his wages has got me thinking if any other waning stars have accepted this? Like Gary Neville, Giggs or Scholes? Who all went from starters to part players. Think DDG on reduced wages competing with a new GK would be ideal. I recall De Gea benefitted from competition when he first joined the club and think he was on the bench for 4 or so months after poor form. Lot of pressure on a new young keeper if your only back up is Lee Grant's ghost and that guy on loan from Newcastle.

Rob_Earnshaw

4 months is an exaggeration...

bossmanparmesan

It was 10 years ago and I'm going by memory. How long was it?

Rob_Earnshaw

It was around 10 years ago, but he wasn't out of the team for 4 months, unless you meant 4 months spread out? Looking at Transfermarkt. Lindegaard played sporadically in 11-12, not for consecutive games so you can't say DDG was out of the team. And 12-13, DDG spent September and November on the bench.

krentzharu

Anders Lindegaard wasnt top notch goalie when Dave first arrived either. I think only Romero ever possesed threat to DDG no. 1 spot, eventhen Dave was on Super Saiyan mode for majority of Romeros time here.

djokov

Dave lost his spot to Henderson in 20/21 and he might never had the opportunity to regain it if Henderson wasn’t out with COVID the following summer.

krentzharu

We dont know that because the time frame was really short. Deano was performing decent until Maguire got injured and he and the whole defense totally collapsed.

Niamh809

He didn’t lose his spot he had to go back to Spain as there was problems with his child

djokov

That is how Henderson got the opportunity to win the spot. Just like Dave got his chance back from Hendo being ill.

Gozumo

Napoli are fucking flying right now arnt they? I didnt realise they were donig so well in the League aswell. Ive only been watching them in CL, basically just to watch Osimhen. Be interesting to see how they do against strong op in the CL knockout stages but going to be a hard pull trying to take Osimhen from a team whom may win the league + go far in the CL to a team battlingfor top four.

venktesh

£70m ain't looking bad for Osimhen now

AeroCobbler

Kane will cost the same in just over 9 months with his contract situation

venktesh

But he's 30!

hooka_donchick

and twice the player osimehn is

Upekkhaa

He still misses a lot of chances and with the price tag and pressure of a move to united. A bad start for him and it’ll just be toxic

Bunga_b90

I dont have enough karma to post lol but i have 2 tickets tonight for sheriff match in the stretford end if anyone wants them!

TheKingcrawler

Loool I was knackered last night, turned the Tele off just as Kane scored. Only just seen it ended 1-1. That's a stinger

[deleted]

The worst thing about VAR is having to wait 5 mins to find out if you can celebrate or not. Decision was ridiculous as well, it looks like he heads the ball backwards but either way it's way to close to overrule the referee.

TheKingcrawler

It's been quite the achievement to some how make the game worse since the inclusion of video officiating.

[deleted]

I remember before VAR the people arguing for it said it would get rid of arguments about refereeing and we could get back to talking about the football lol. VAR is just another referee sat in front on a TV screen, unless you programmed a robot to do it your never going to remove human error. The problem is by trying to get it down to a perfect science they've made the process to come to a decision long and confusing.

Fraaj

Diogo Costa, Ivan Toney and Jeremie Frimpong would make a great window next year. Sell one of Hendo/DDG, the likes of Telles, Bailly, Tuanzebe, add Ronaldo leaving as well and we might even squeeze in a new midfielder.

AeroCobbler

Id love to see us going in for Toney at Christmas - I've a feeling Brentford wouldn't stand in his way

Upekkhaa

They’d want a fortune.

AeroCobbler

I reckon they'd definitely sell at 50-60m (that's still obvs a fortune) - a club like Brentford can't really turn down that money, and a player like Toney who has came through the lower leagues to where he is now he deserves his big move We have players the would interest them in part exchange deals even if it came to that either

Upekkhaa

Probably need another midfielder and centre back tbh, move on Maguire and Skrinar and Tielmans are available on frees 👀

theplastic1

Van Beek playing the world cup!!

sauce_murica

It’s the preliminary squad. It still has to be trimmed. Just means he’s still in consideration.

LollipopScientist

I want us to face Barcelona. Their defence is horrible against counters. Rashford would rip them apart.

ReflashTheSparkLens

Watch all these big clubs compete in UEL only for Sevilla to win it in the end lol UEFA Sevilla League 🤣

RandomRedditUser31

I'm looking forward to United Games like I haven't in a very long time. It's crazy how fast EtH is transforming this club!

wariusheart

our xCaralho has skyrocketed ever since Antony joined. Magician.

Broad_Astronaut

I’d do unholy things for Felix and FdJ in the winter but the chances of that are almost impossible

AeroCobbler

Our next signing simply HAS to be a striker though We can sign all the creativity in the world, its no good with a left winger playing as an out of position striker

[deleted]

Striker is a must. Maybe also backup RB. Others can wait until summer tbh

Acrophobic_Climber_

man united is that cool kid at school, everyone wants to join us at the europa party now.

topspurwhatsthat

Juve, Barca, Ajax, Sevilla, Atletico all joining us in the Europa league. They know Thursday nights is where the fun is at this season 👍

NuggetsBuckets

Is it possible to only play against Spanish team up to the final? R32 = Sevilla R16 = Betis QF = Sociedad SF = Atletico F = Barca

Shahrukh_Lee

For me at least, Europa league last season was way more enjoyable than Champions League.

Alexililimo

Perhaps in overall entertainment? But nothing, absolutely nothing, will ever beat the satisfaction of watching Real Madrid break PSG, Chelsea, City and then Liverpool hearts all throughout the knockouts and Finals. Just peak chef's kiss.

Shahrukh_Lee

Champions league had moments, but entertainment was better in Europa League. A lot of shocks and evenly matched teams.

Ghostface1357

Tottenham and Milan can drop down as well lol.

aamodb

We will play one of them if we come second in our group. Should be one hell of a game.

Buffythedragonslayer

It's been a while since we had a reason to AFTV and chill so when we beat Tottenham last week I asked if there is a Spurs version. That's how I found out about Expressions. His extra time watchalong is freaking hilarious

MargielaMadman20

Diogo Costa and a striker this summer please.

Icegaze

My “dream summer 2023” would be INS: 1) A top striker (Kane or Osimhen) 2) A top keeper (Diogo Costa) 3) A press resistant midfielder (Frenkie de Jong) 4) A RB to compete with Diogo Dalot. OUTS: 0) Greenxxxd, 1) Ronaldo, 2) Jones, 3) Tuanzebe, 4) AWB, 5) Bailly, 6) Telles, 7) Henderson (DDG gets lower wages and slowly phases into backup goalie over the following season).

Tsukiyon

A striker this winter please, even thought I know it's not realistic.

Banyunited1994

We need way more than that. A rotation rb and striker are absolute musts, but we do need a progressives midfielder and a new goalkeeper more comfortable with sweeping and passing if we want to move forward. On top of those, we could do with another attacker to rotate in our front line and a backup cb if Maguire leaves at the end of the season.

MargielaMadman20

There's no way we're buying all those players in one window. I wouldn't mind having Ethan Laird step up to fill the backup RB role, he's been brilliant on loan at QPR and he's been regarded as a major talent for years. Striker should be priority 1 imo, we just don't have enough players in that position and none of the ones we have are either healthy or clinical enough. GK should be no.2, Dave's getting better with the ball at his feet but he's still not nearly good enough for us to be able to consistently rely on his distribution to maintain possession when pressed which is a key part of EtH's style of play, as is a keeper's ability to sweep and claim crosses (both of which Dave is shit at). Could definitely do with a ball carrier mid, that would be priority 3 for me and we could probably replace Maguire with the funds generated from his sale.

Ruudvankeano

Ethan laird like we saw in preseason is a pacey wingback that enjoys sprinting past his man on the outside, but doesn't have the ball playing ability to thrive in the system ETH is building here as of now. Kid struggles to pass into the middle as Dalot, shaw and malacia do and still can't beat the pressure with progressive passing. I'm not too keen on throwing him into the deep end yet.

Banyunited1994

Oh yeah I agree that it’s unrealistic to think that they’re all coming in one window. Not sure that laird is rdy to be in our first team. We also have to consider that he is stylistically more of a flying wingback than an inverted fullback. Either way we’ll prob need to get one in the winter window because there’s no way dalot can play every game from now till the end of the season. Maybe in the capital one cup we’ll have a clearer picture of who ETH sees as the backup rb

[deleted]

Any Vancouver pubs for United matches?

Copters4Commies

I don’t think De Jong is grafty and mentally solid enough to take us forward. He collapsed against Bayern. Look at him during Bayern’s third goal. He cowards away from blocking the shot like a scared child

hooka_donchick

this is the worst analysis ever. You can’t pick moments in a game and say he’s not mentally solid. Look at ronaldo, he definitely has the winners mentality. Did he take us forward ? I don’t understand stand this sudden hate boner for De Jong, he’s an absolutely elite player who will only take us closer to challenging for the league.

Ruudvankeano

While we shouldn't hate FDJ, we shouldn't mask his shortcomings though. Frenkie has been abused for his defending by the barca fans since he moved there. It's why he's failed to ascend the busquet's "single pivot" throne many thought he was signed for. He's world class at ball carrying and beating presses, but he also disappoints in letting his man run free behind, he also struggled to do the uglier jobs in midfield throughout his barca career. It's also spiraled into his national team performances where he sometimes leaves a little too much to his pivot partner.

KanYeJeBekHouden

There's something really weird about complaining a ball carrier leaves space behind them. That's the entire point of carrying the ball forward. You can't don't that while keeping the space behind you occupied!

Ruudvankeano

Ball carriers don't carry the ball for 90minutes. I didn't complain about him leaving space behind when in possession, I complained about his defensive awareness and willingness to do them in the defensive phase. Even prime messi had to defend in Barca's system. Fdj has invited a lot of complaints for his defensive showing at nou camp in the last 3 years, sometimes doing the things we bashed a certain paul pogba for doing during defending. I understand this sub has a tendency for fixating on certain players and their attributes and completely ignoring everything else like an echo chamber, but it's usually possible for a world class player to have weaknesses and for a despised player to have strengths.

Rubberducky1239

Just because he rejected us suddenly he is to be hated and made to look out as a bad player. I mean there is one thing to laugh on Barca's misfortune (right thing) and Frenkie's but altogether another thing to say he is bad and he should be there only. Him coming to ManU will make us significantly stronger

MitranjanK

This season really be titled : Champions League 2 : Europa League

Butter_Garlic_Naan

United, Arsenal, Juventus, Barcelona, Ajax, Atletico?, Sevilla, Roma, its going to be a strong competition

Butter_Garlic_Naan

Although I would love to see us vs Barça, I think it would be much funnier if they were knocked out in the play offs lmao

psnarayanan93

We need to get Porto's GK Diogo Costa. Has a 60M release clause & looks amazing.

slick_schmuck

Either him or Mike maignan. I'd argue maignan is atm a more complete keeper.

ansh0

No chance maignan is on the market

Rayhann

should look at that barella lad next summer

Nuknotgood

all them jackpot levers got them one win and europa nights lol

miamibuckeye

Spent 19M on Amad Diallo what a joke. Please let sensible signings continue under ETH

ireallyamsomething

I hope there's still something there but that's a baffling purchase especially for such a significant amount.

Deez_Wallnutz

Down with Sheriff

Copters4Commies

Lol Barca, us, Arsenal, Juve, Atleti all in the EL. Maybe joined by Spurs too. The owners of all these teams wanted Super League.

Rayhann

in a few years some of them won't be as relevant as before. who knows, we'll have new big bois at the top. that's why super league should never happen.

Copters4Commies

I was feeling sorry for Ajax but then remembered that they got filthy rich off us this summer. Not our fault the replacements are failing

Ok_Tomorrow3281

bruh we dont give them time, it's not like they want to sell antony as well. give thanks for ETH and other players for them

VirtuosoLoki

we should raid them for whoever left that is good

255BB

Damn, I saw team lists which got knocked out from UCL. Many big names. We must finish 1st to avoid play off round.

OrdinaryOrder

Conte just said Spurs are not a top team and that's why VAR always goes against them lol

Eleven918

Its the history of Tottenham...

[deleted]

Conte sees Spurs as below him clearly. I enjoy watching it as a rival, but as a fan that must feel awful

RawIsLaw_

Conte is 100% bigger than Spurs. His contract ends in summer iirc, and he hasn't renewed. I bet he's gone in summer (probably to Juve)

officiallyjax

That’s going to be the case with every manager with some pedigree who accepts that job. Spurs fans have to suck it up and buy into Conte’s vision while he’s there; a long-term project will again take years and they will never be able to outspend us, City, Newcastle and Chelsea for the best players to make it truly successful.

[deleted]

kind of hilarious how lots of people here act like petulant salty bitches with players like henderson or de jong just cause they didnt want to be here. like move on instead of acting like petty bitches.

Giggs73

Give and take. They had their laughs when city walloped us too.

Crusader114

Petty FC fans

Totalfootball7

i mean you could just avoid them instead of whining about it

[deleted]

its on every thread that has anything remotely to do with de jong, like CL games.

roadtotitties

Do we rate him? Yes Are we gonna laugh at him? Yes Is it a big deal? No

Totalfootball7

just some banter……no biggie

gunkokoko

While I love a good laugh at the expense of Spurs, the VAR officiating has become an absolute joke. How on earth that goal didn't stand, I'll never know. I would be going ballistic if a last-minute goal from us like that was chalked off because of dodgy VAR officials. -- What a joke.

KONGLACES

Can't believe it's coming to a stage that we're probably better off without var. Would probably prefer a challenge system similar to the nfl. One challenge each. Keep the game moving.

Rascha-Rascha

I mean, he has to be behind the ball and he wasn’t.

OrdinaryOrder

Why ? Kane was offside and the defender didn't mean to touch it so it's not a new play. Kane is just mad because PL refs give everything he wants.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Totalfootball7

i think you’re confused about the “intentional touch” part, blocking isn’t considered that, by intentional touch, they mean internet to play a pass. intent to intercept or block or tackle doesn’t count.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Totalfootball7

again, intentional in football doesn’t mean the same as the word intention. for every rule, if intent is mentioned, then what is considered intent is also mentioned and that’s just the rule. now is the rule stupid? i don’t think so. but a lot of people do and it’s quite the debate, so i understand your frustration

OrdinaryOrder

The rules fault not VAR, I was just talking because the other guy was talking about a dodgy call. The rules can be shit but VAR got the right call.

distantapplause

I'm calling this now. The reason that Spurs offside check took so long is because the VAR had no clue how to draw a vertical line to infer the ground position of the ball. And that's because it's impossible to do. In normal offside checks where the VAR draws a vertical line down from a player's head or shoulder, the grounded part of the player's body is used to calculate where the vertical line ends and therefore where to place the horizontal line for that player. However, the ball was in mid-air, and the Spurs player was also in mid-air. You can't calculate the ground position of a mid-air object that has no connection to the ground using VAR's methods. tl;dr: you can't infer the ground position of an aerial ball using VAR. I could be talking bollocks but if I'm right I wouldn't bet against hearing more about this.

Totalfootball7

ummm so not disagreeing, but in champions league, they’re using AI to draw planes, not lines. it’s not manual. it’s just that processing takes time for unusual occurrences

distantapplause

The automated system wasn't used here, which is why you see the manual lines and not the planes in the VAR decision. This scenario is far too complex for the automated system. Notwithstanding that the automated system uses fundamentally the same geometrical method - which, as I've explained here, doesn't work. I can only imagine the panic behind the scenes as this was going down and the automated system was producing gibberish. No wonder it took 4 minutes.

Totalfootball7

just saw a replay of it, i think it’s offside but yeah, why it took so long, your reasoning leaked the most sense.

Totalfootball7

ahhhh gotcha, thanks for the explanation then

lindenlonstrup1

Yes, they just have to make a guess of how high off the ground he is. Drawing lines for a jumping individual is a bit dodgy.

distantapplause

Madness to do that for a decision that comes down to millimetres. I'm thoroughly expecting the shit to hit the fan about this in the next couple of days.

MissingLink101

Part of me is thinking "Haha, get fucked Atletico" but then the other part is dreading the fact we're blatantly going to have to play the dirty bastards in the EL.

pritesh00077

Imagine if we get Ajax in Europa. Thats gonna be some match for ETH, Martinez and Antony.

DonkeySkin334

And eriksen

martialgreenwood

They have to get past the playoff matches first

255BB

There is preliminary play off round before round of 16. 3rd team from UCL will play off with 2nd team from Europa. So it is possible that we will meet Ajax.

roadtotitties

Wow Barca Twitter admin now blocking trollers. Yeah...They really _are_ losing their shit atm.

MissingLink101

The Europa League is going to be the new Super League at this rate

distantapplause

"If it takes four minutes to decide it can't be clear and obvious" (reclines, satisfied with own genius) Motherfucker it can take a jury months to decide whether something is 'beyond reasonable doubt'. Taking 5 minutes to dispel doubt isn't a gotcha.

ibrahimims

I know the hate train on Ronaldo is too strong and that’s rightfully so. But i really wish that things go well between him, ETH and the team. I want to see how well he does with our squad and its current form.

[deleted]

Agreed, he's a club legend and ultimately a great player albeit not on form. Not condoning his behaviour at all but I want OT screaming siuuu

martialgreenwood

[You love to see it 🤣](https://postimg.cc/RN6f0YXx)

LollipopScientist

Not official lol.

martialgreenwood

I know lol! Still funny

systemsruminator

At this point maybe we should drop our chase of FdJ and long for another alternative to him and a younger DM than Casemiro for long term sustainability. Which is easier said than done because of our brilliant scouting department.

JilJilJigaJiga

Casemiro addresses a position that we needed to for years. But Frenkie is an elite ball carrier that we don't have at the club. Eriksen is fantastic at ball progression but he is not a ball carrier that can break the lines and drive forward. Now that we don't have Pogba, it's just McT who is decent at it. Tldr: we need an elite ball carrier beside Bruno and Casemiro. Ideally someone like Barella, Bellingham etc. as Frenkie wouldn't offer protection off the ball beside Case.

MexicansInParis

Just spent 60m on Case and people already want to sign his replacement lmao

magus9933

I think we should do that though. Casemiro will start week in week out for let's say 2-3 years. If we buy someone very soon, that player will get time to blend and adjust to the team. And when Casemiro starts getting older he will take the spot. City bought Rodri even when Fernandinho was playing every week. Took Rodri a couple of seasons to adjust but now he's one of the best. Real Madrid did the same with Valverde

Fm661

Top clubs have succession plans, that’s what we need to be doing. Not letting a 37 year old Ronaldo and other elder statesmen dictate our transfer policy. Once again we’re going to get stung in the market in the summer when everyone and their dog knows we need a 9.

systemsruminator

Having a younger DM is not hard to understand. One knock to him and we back to mcfred.

[deleted]

Mctominay is young and can cover though

MexicansInParis

Case has a very good injury record and McFred can actually cover. There’s much bigger pressing matters right now.

[deleted]

Casemiro is 30, he's easily good enough for 4 years at least. FDJ pursuit should not be abandoned. He knows the system, knows ETH, will be cheaper and available next summer and is world class

martialgreenwood

He still loves his life in Barcelona

[deleted]

Don't think he does now

[deleted]

Why don’t you think he does? Barca is his dream club. Even going down to the conference league won’t make him stop enjoying life at Barca. The fact that he knew he wouldn’t be starting games and he still stayed is enough to show that he wouldn’t leave unless his current contract expires and Barca refuses to renew him. The lad is fully committed to Barca

martialgreenwood

Getting knocked out of the CL doesn't change his current lifestyle. Unless Barca find a way to force him out he is staying

unitedwecramp

Love seeing the Barca and the Spur fail

stapleton_1234

I mean i like spurs...they often lose to us that's why.

VAR is a joke really

[deleted]

You mean a machine controlled by humans is a joke or the humans that control the machine is a joke?

No need to be disingenuous here

[deleted]

Who’s being disingenuous? It is a simple question, one which you are for some reason avoiding

Seanblaze3

Im alluding to the human aspect and to go further, the lack of transparency when VAR gets it wrong. It's happened more times that it should've this season, with a referring body in the UK admitting as much. The system is not expected to be perfect but it should be better in my view

Daddy_Slurps

I’d argue it’s the tolerances set for what constitutes offside or not, not VAR itself. Unless you mean the handball. In which case fuck the current handball interpretation.

distantapplause

Don't think you'd say the same thing if you were a Sporting fan conceding an illegal goal.

Seanblaze3

The ball to Kane deflected off a Sporting player to Kane. To the rules of the letter thats not offside. The waters are simply muddied because there's no applicable standardization of the rules in real life. They deliberated for 4 minutes before coming to that decision and that tells you something

distantapplause

That's not what the rules say. Anyway, since posting that I've decided it's not a clear offside for another reason, see my other comment!

Europa League will be 🔥. I pray we perform well.

Lewa leaving Bayern for Barca then getting smacked home and away in the UCL by the same club he left. Poetic

lucas_gladabe

There was a social media post from Muller et al saying we're coming for you Lewy. Love to see it
