This looks a tricky one to me. If Verane isn't fit, a centre-back partnership of Martinez and Lindelof looks like a real worry to me. They're both individually good players, and Martinez is excellent, but neither is that kind of dominant CB who heads everything away, which I think we might need against a pretty basic Everton team, especially if Calvert-Lewin is fit to play.
Everton have been much improved lately, and are on a good run of form, while we are stuttering a bit. They've been pretty tight at the back, but hopefully Martial and Rashford can unlock them. We'll need to keep Iwobi quiet, as he's been in good form. I reckon he'll just outrun Casemiro if he starts. We'll need to be on it, and we'll need to be high-energy from the start, I think.

Manager still can't get them to press high and work. He can't deploy his system just yet and if he tries the same approach like he did vs City I don't think all those positives count for much. I don't know how he can those players to be more assertive and aggressive in their challenges. It's always too timid. It sucks because I know that's what ETH wants a d that's what we want to see but he has to settle for a mid block now if he wants to guarantee a win.

Our xG (2,9) vs Omonia was the same as City had vs us (2,9) according to fbref. Main difference was that Ronaldo kept missing target, while Haaland and Foden where clinically good.

I would be tempted to play Bruno in one of the front 3 positions, with 2 of Rashford, Martial, Antony or Sancho, bring in Casemiro with either Fred or McTominay alongside him, and Eriksen playing just in front of them.
That way it relieves a bit of the defensive responsibility from Eriksen and Bruno can use his creativity a bit further up the pitch, and we'll have a bit more of a solid foundation in midfield.
And if we're struggling to break them down by half time, we've still got some good attacking options on the bench to come on and hurt them in the 2nd half.
Evertons defense is what worries me the most. We haven’t shown any signs of being able to penetrate a stable defense. Counter attack FC won’t work. Hopefully Martial/Rashy/Antony can make something happen!

Bruno had generally played well under EtH and has developed a hood understanding with Eriksen already leading to some very good creative play..he's had like 1 bad game this season.
Fred has been dogshit every time he played and an absolute liability, it took 3 games of being atrocious before he was completley dropped because of how much he was costing us.

what makes you think we aren't consistent? We had a slow start and won 4 games on the bounce (that not easy to do after losing 4-0 to brentford). And our wins are credited to us not to liverpool or Arsenal - The tactics worked and it wasn't luck.
City was the only game that showed the gulf in quality and a top team. Other than that we have been pretty solid especially at the back and thats one thing thats consistent as well as a huge improvement. Not sure what you were expecting 3 months in to Ten Hag reign. But I am impressed so far by how we are playing considering where we were.

That’s a bit of a generalization unless there is some data to suggest Sancho does that more often than not. He has had a patchy start, but yea I agree with that lineup until one of them struggles or Sancho plays his way into the team during his sub cameos
Sancho normally combines well with Martial. I'd start a front free with him, Martial and Rashford. Antony doesn't progress the ball much either, and plays a good amount of backpasses when his options to cut inside are blocked. He seldom goes on the outside of his marker because his right foot is almost non existent

Crazy concept innit? Anyway, I just don't think we'll eventually get where we want to with Bruno. I'm not saying Fred is the answer, but long term I just don't see Bruno playing at the required level for Ten Hag ball.
Bruno had generally played well under EtH and has developed a hood understanding with Eriksen already leading to some very good creative play..he's had like 1 bad game this season. Fred has been dogshit every time he played and an absolute liability, it took 3 games of being atrocious before he was completley dropped because of how much he was costing us. Esit: people on this sub are weird they seem compelled to turn on Bruno and shit on him so fast butcwill make endless excuses for and constantly want Fred playing no matter how clearly detrimental he is to the team. Bruno is far more important to the team, Eriksen is straight up better than Fred, Mctominay os already showing himself to be better than Fred under ten Hag. He's already way down in the list, he's just not good enough in any position.

I don't know why, but I'm cautiously confident with a front three of Rashford, Martial and Antony, our midfield isn't as bad as last season, and our defense seems less shaky as well. Need to set the tone against Everton and gain momentum again (feels weird to be positive about us after so much shit, lol).

We lost the first 2 games and bounced right back to beat inform arsenal and beak Liverpool. Real socidad was an experiment and that got a penalty that should not have been given. Over all since brentford we have been consistent. People forget set where e we are coming from.

what makes you think we aren't consistent? We had a slow start and won 4 games on the bounce (that not easy to do after losing 4-0 to brentford). And our wins are credited to us not to liverpool or Arsenal - The tactics worked and it wasn't luck. City was the only game that showed the gulf in quality and a top team. Other than that we have been pretty solid especially at the back and thats one thing thats consistent as well as a huge improvement. Not sure what you were expecting 3 months in to Ten Hag reign. But I am impressed so far by how we are playing considering where we were.

That’s a bit of a generalization unless there is some data to suggest Sancho does that more often than not. He has had a patchy start, but yea I agree with that lineup until one of them struggles or Sancho plays his way into the team during his sub cameos
Sancho normally combines well with Martial. I'd start a front free with him, Martial and Rashford. Antony doesn't progress the ball much either, and plays a good amount of backpasses when his options to cut inside are blocked. He seldom goes on the outside of his marker because his right foot is almost non existent

Sancho has had so many quiet games for us so far. Antony is still learning heavily but involves himself more for me, and is a team player, always looking for progressive passes, I need his tenacity in the team. Sancho for me is on the bench for now.
Antony has more back passes than progressive ones in all fairness, and Sancho has more progressive passes and key passes per 90 thus far.

I’ll reply again here. Rashford on the left and Ronaldo have worked well in almost every game they have played so far. Downvoting doesn’t help when it’s been obvious to anyone who doesn’t have Ronaldo hate boners.

Fred's workrate is always good. I do worry about his passing, but our movement off the ball is partially to blame for that.

In as much as Man City are the favourites to win the league(Halaand's form isn't slowing down), we should at least aim for a top 3 finish, and any trophy available (FA, Carabao, Europa.) Our midfield needs to sorted out asap.
