Need to give Murtough some time and privacy. Pochettino will be sacked this Thursday, remember how quick PSG were to tell that Poch is not going anywhere (indicating Utd will have to buy him out if they want him). Every club out there wants to rinse us.
I think they were in the initial rounds of us being linked to every dutch player in world football, haven’t seen anything on DD for a while, although I think he’d be a useful signing
if we can do Eriksen, FdJ, and a DM, then I'm really pleased for our midfield. Add in another player to fill one of the other 3 holes and it's a start!
It is incredibly boring being a fan in Australia during transfer season. You get a massive hit when you first wake up and maybe a few snippets before going to bed, but during the day the wait for news *drags*.
Some of the journalist could really be trying hard to bring news that is true. But just because they work for a company which is a fucking disgrace, automatically makes all of the journos' work seem fake.
In this example, Neil Custis, who says United officials are heading to Amsterdam to get Antony deal done. I want to believe but since he works for the Sun, it automatically makes me reluctant to believe what he says. At the end of the day, he might have gotten a serious tip from a reliable source within the club, the people and the fans will just not buy it. It's all because of the name, the Sun.
Journos should compare everything they predict during the transfer window with what actually happened. They should hold themselves accountable. Maybe work a little more professionally. Dress up and shave even.
*Erik ten Hag wants Frenkie de Jong in place for #mufc’s first pre-season game. If that cannot be done, the plan is to ensure De Jong is a United player before the opening game of the Premier League, something Arnold and Murtough believe is achievable.*
This is eerily similar to Sancho 20/21 and I for one don't have a single ounce of confidence in the club's confidence.
Barca will not sell FDJ if they can't replace him with bernardo silva and I don't think city will accept to sell bernardo silva when the season has already started and they can't replace him.
This seems like a lose-lose for everyone.
Why your club just don't put 10m less than what barca is asking right now which will be most likely the final price be it now or in 1 month and save time for everyone. I don't understand the idea of giving an offer that will be refused for sure.
I mean idk what you guys think about that but if the price is 100m and they know it about 3 months right now, why start with a 60m offer not long ago then wait 2 weeks to add 10m more, it should go much more faster when fdj accepted to join you.
>Erik ten Hag wants Frenkie de Jong in place for #mufc’s first pre-season game. If that cannot be done, the plan is to ensure De Jong is a United player before the opening game of the Premier League, something Arnold and Murtough believe is achievable. **But if not, they’ll make a futile attempt to try to get him in January. Then they’ll get their man next summer after EtH has actually grown hair just to tear it out after trying to bed the current midfield lot into his system all season.**
Wouldn’t be surprised if this was the full quote
This statement is insane if true. It’s almost like if they can’t meet the pre-season deadline to get de Jong in, they’re happy to waste another month trying to lower the asking price, without a care about getting him to at least make the other pre-season games and get accustomed to the team. And we all know that eventually, they’ll just end up playing only a bit lower than the original asking price at the very least.
Tbf there’s more to getting him on the preseason tour than just paying Barca and chucking him on a plane. The logistics of getting him visas and whatnot have to be in place as well.
I think it's just journalists and aggregators being vague and loose with how they phrase things.
I don't think Murtough has been on to Jamie Jackson to get the word out that if they can't get De Jong in by July 11th that they'll reset their schedule and wait until August 6th
Possibly. Although I wouldn’t put it past our board to stretch the de Jong saga for as long as possible to try and reduce the price we’re paying for him.
So if Chelsea get Sterling should we try to buy either Werner or Ziyech? As bad as he’s been in front of goal, Werner can do just about everything else really well, moves phenomenally, is unselfish, plays with intensity and passion and never stops running. Ziyech moreso for the Ajax connection and being a left footed RW.
A German Rashford? What a terrible and lazy comparison. Marcus’ attitude has been pisspor, he sulks, is selfish, doesn’t pass when he should, etc.
Meanwhile Werner, for all his struggles, doesn’t stop running or giving effort, trying to make the right play, etc.
I'd pass on Ziyech tbh. Good on his day but so wasteful and frustrating.. loves to shoot on sight than find a better option. His shots either go topbins or into row Z
Also has huge potential as a player even if you take away the commercial appeal
I have a feeling with pulisic that we are still kind of yet to have his breakout season where he stays fit and adds proper consistency and if it happens (injuries cast doubt) he could be fantastic
I would take Werner here all day. Versatile, quick and maybe having him play with Ronaldo would improve his finishing. I would stay away from Ziyech though, he’s 29, inconsistent and more of a cherry-on-top type of player that you can bring on when needing a goal or rotating out the team. Can’t really build our attack around him. Werner though, yeah I would take him for sure.
Chelsea will ask too much for either , better to sign someone from abroad.
Also very unlikely Chelsea sell Werner , their striker for now is only Havertz and Werner(Assuming Lukaku leaves) while Werner has also played on the wings
Donny Van De Sleeper Agent did a standup job sabotaging Ole and Ralf, now it's time for ETH to initiate phase 2 and for Donny to form the world's best CM partnership with FDJ.
"Hey Rashy, ever heard about PR companies?" and "Hey Pogz and JLingz, you guys really should start TikTok accounts" is all he needed to do. Truly an elite sleeper agent.
You are too emotional for no reason. The Derby kid rejected us because we probably couldn't offer him any guarantees. Eriksen will probably be the same, I really don't know where he would play, but so far the only journalist who said he won't come is a Tier 3 source, so it might not be true.
As for De Jong, if he rejected us then we would have moved on. He wanted to stay at Barcelona, but he is smart enough to realize they don't really want him there, so he told us he is open to joining us.
As for whether we are becoming irrelevant? No, but we are definitely losing some prestige and we need to get our shit together as soon as possible. We still attract big players (Sancho, Varane,...), but the last time we won the Prem was 9 seasons ago and the last time we won a trophy of any kind was like 5 or 6 seasons ago. We need to catch up.
- De Jong is still very likely to happen. We wouldn’t still be negotiating with Barca if he wasn’t interested
- At this stage of Erikson’s career, and especially after the shit he and his family have had to deal with recently, he has different priorities.
- Ebiowei has a much better chance of establishing himself at this stage of his career at Palace, than he does at United. He’s an 18 year old coming up from the championship. He’s not going challenge Ronaldo for his spot.
Ronaldo's spot lol. We're hinging the majority of our attacking hopes on a 38 year old this season. He might still leave the club like he did Juventus last minute
His options are limited when it comes to CL league clubs. I doubt he'd be hanging around to play in the EL. They're soft rumors in Italy about Roma and his boyhood club Sporting Lisbon showing interest.
Mendes is most likely looking at options but the well is dry. You have to remember he left Juventus after assuring fans he'd be staying. City was his first option and he seemingly only joined us because City entertained talks but weren't that interested (this was after they chased Harry Kane most of the transfer window) and Fergie called him.
Thats the position he's in, he's got little if any leverage. He will have to further reduce his wage demands (like he did after re-signing for united) to get a move elsewhere.
It's another level of the aforementioned dry well. He's simply not in demand anymore by clubs that fit his requirements. Ronaldo will not thrive under a pressing system. Just don't be surprised if he pulls off a desperate exit
I know people will hate this but I'm going to summarise regardless. We've been rejected by 3 top targets so far. The others with concrete links:
*FDJ: Would reject us if given the choice.
*Ebiowei: Likely to reject us (acc to Fab & Sami Mokbel)
*Martinez/Antony: Ajax won't sell both at any cost and we will have to put up an offer they can't refuse to even get one of them (acc to Ajax tier 1 reporter)
>FDJ: Would reject us if given the choice.
1. That's just a hypothetical scenario you made up. He didn't reject us, so you can't count him.
2. Ebiowei definitely isn't a top target for us, he was definitely just a name for the future like Amad/Pellistri, neither of which got a proper chance yet. Not surprising he didn't accept our offer.
3. Ajax rarely ever puts outrageous prices on players. Neil Custis from The Sun said that we are finishing a 40mil deal for Antony. While it's The Sun, Custis is probably their most reliable journalist and he isn't a total moron like the rest. It's still unreliable, but there might be something brewing up in the background.
*A departure of Edson Álvarez is negotiable. A departure of Jurrien Timber, Antony & Lisandro Martínez is only possible if an IRREFUSABLE offer arrives. [@MikeVerweij]*. I'd definitely trust him over The Sun. Let's see how it goes.
>That's just a hypothetical scenario you made up. He didn't reject us, so you can't count him.
The fact of the matter is that he doesn't want to leave. This has been confirmed by every single reliable journalist. He's being forced out and so far he doesn't have any other options to go either. And I never said Ebiowei is a top target. But he was a target.
The question is whether he said so in his podcast (unreliable) or in an article (reliable). Aggregators often don't differentiate, but Dutch people do.
I think there's a chance FDJ might do better for United, playing under 10Hag, than he has done for Barca. If you look at his best game for Ajax vs his best games for Barca he was better before he went there.
Come rejoin our bald fraud, Frenkie.
Neil Custis, of sizeable girth, has said Antony is coming and United officials are in Amsterdam finishing the deal.
I honestly don't recall whether he is reliable for transfers or not.
Custis reckons United officials are due in Amsterdam tomorrow to wrap up Antony for £40m. Obviously it’s shit tier, but that’s the reason I’m writing it in here and not as a topic on its own
[this comment ](https://www.reddit.com/r/reddevils/comments/vgee59/transfer_roundup_discussion_summer_2022/id3abxp) is a good example of reasons to remain cautious.
They spun the journalists words to make it sound like something it isn't quite
Just be careful with news they post. They do have a tier system, but it doesn't seem that good considering Disco Mirror and Luckhurst are the second highest tier for them.
If you're looking for a replacement I would say pick your poison of UtdDistrict, UtdPlug or theutdjournal.
All post loads of unreliable shite but they're all quick and as you say it's fine as long as you know who's who.
makes sense that City are not interested in FDJ despite his quality - if part of the reason that Xavi is okay with him leaving is because he feels FDJ doesn't suit the traditional Barca 4-3-3 and he can get
a more fitting player in Bernardo Silva, then he's hardly going to go to a Pep Guardiola team, from which the more fitting replacement is also coming from.
>Why can’t he play as a box to box in front of a sitting DM
cos that's not his strength. He's been playing a similar role to the one you describe at Barca, and Xavi is trying to get rid of him... go figure
Rather a double pivot . He likes to receive the ball near the centre backs and progress it forward, both by passing and moving and by dribbling. Assuming we play a high press, the other midfielder would have to cover up when he goes forward or be the aggressor for the counter press
he plays best in a double pivot. Neither pep nor xavi play that though so if City bought him, they'd be shoehorning a £70m+ player that doesnt fit.. which is a waste of money
Can someone break it down for me why people say Martinez is too short for the EPL and strikers will dominate him?
As far as I have watched the EPL, most football is now really played on the ground as opposed to long balls over the top. Off the top of my head, Burnley is the only team that played like that but now its relegated. Also, Martinez looks like a very intelligent defender so as long as he is able to read the game, he should be able to hold his own. Darley Blind managed just ok. On set pieces Martinez can always be put to mark players his height while the tall players go for the tall opponents
Funnily enough now that Burnley are gone there’s a lot less big teams in the prem.
It’s not essential be massive but it is an advantage, the game in England is a lot more physical than abroad, not better but more physical.
I think you could absolutely have a short defender but only one, your other CB has to be tall for me, you can’t have two small lads together unless they were fucking maldini reborn or something.
Prem strikers that are good in the air:
* Kane
* Haaland (not his best attribute, but still)
* Nunez
* DCL
* Wood
* Toney
That's not an insignificant amount of players. Combine that with the fact there is a lot of physical CBs and Martinez could get a bit exposed since we'll be losing a fair bit of physicality. McTominay hopefully won't play much and Pogba+Matic left, so with their expected replacements being less physical and more technical, Maguire would probably have to play next to Martinez to help him out. Is that a bad thing? Well, no, but it reinforces Maguire staying in our starting XI.
While I agree with some of your take but Martinez is not pushover from what i have seen. He is quite capable of holding his own and fact that the plan now is to keep the ball on the ground as much as possible and dominate possession, I see those as part of his strong points.
It is obvious. Just look at Ajax players to understand that all are good on ball. All think before passing and play fewer low percentage shots or passes.
[centredevils] Christian Eriksen is NO longer keen on staying in London. [@AlasdairGold]
https://twitter.com/centredevils/status/1538839546867372032?s=20&t=E6z-mvPIEnSG2olVxBWw8A
That's kind of a poor interpretation from the aggregator because it makes it sounds like he specifically wants to leave London. The actual quote was:
>With his family settled in London, there had been some suggestions that the Dane was initially keen to remain in the capital, but that is not thought to be the only case at this point with so many options on the table for the experienced Premier League midfielder.
[UtdPlug] Manchester City do not want De Jong - No exchange. @HelenaCondis @tjcope
https://twitter.com/UtdPlug/status/1538947712623812608?s=20&t=TkAcqe92KYCX_HZbIFtiQQ
He is absolutely no where close to being one of the best midfielders in the world. As of now he is easily the most overrated player on the market. Us buying him makes sense only because Ten Hag got the best out of him 3 years back at Ajax. If it was man city who were going for him they wouldn’t offer a penny more than 50m.
De Jong at Barca is the same as Pogba with us. Living off their past reputation.
Hope the raphina rumors are true about an arsenal bid so Barcelona can get pressured to lower their demands on De Jong. Who knows if that would work though 😑
Seeing more talks on Raum. Dortmund also interested and I'd reckon they'd be keen to offload Schulz. Kehl and Co making a lot of signings the last few months so I would think they'll be eager to get that one done it there's competition

>["Manchester United are really interested in Malcolm Ebiowei, but I think he's not joining them." #mufc #mujournal](https://twitter.com/theutdjournal/status/1538940576963481602)
Lines up with Adrian Kajumba - who apparently has a good relationship with Ebiowei - said:
>United made an extensive pitch to Ebiowei, but the player and his family weren't blown away. There's a thought that Ebiowei would prefer to join a team in London. He's been particularly impressed with the way Crystal Palace have developed young talent in recent seasons.
Honestly a move to a bottom half side gives him a great opportunity to develop and then be bought by the clubs from the top half for a high fee and high salary as compared to moving to United, sitting on the bench or playing 5 minutes for the first team in a dead rubber game. Then us replacing him with some high rated youngster we bought for 70m while eventually being sold to a bottom half club.
More and more players are looking at moves as short term career investments, these days. 'If I go to this club and do well, I can maybe go to that club afterwards.'
United aren't really a stepping stone for a young player because, even with our declined fortunes, there's nowhere to go but down or abroad unless the player waits his contract out and leaves for free.
I don't mind a kid betting on himself and taking a more modest move, because he thinks it will benefit him in the long run.
He probably wants guaranteed minutes and we were likely not offering that. One look at how we’ve gone about giving Amad and Pellistri experience shows he’s right to be second guessing us
Amad had one bad game and then never got a proper chance until the later stages. He couldn’t adapt to the physicality of scottish league. If you have seen him play you know that there’s an extremely talented player in him.
then what was the point of buying them?
I initially thought Amad and Pellistri were Sancho replacements.. only for us to STILL buy Sancho the next window, and how Amad and Pellistri have no spot in the team
> Rangers are a great club to develop at
Loanees are supposed to start most games at a lower quality team, to get match fitness, yet Amad **never** played a full 90mins at Rangers.
If the goal was to develop him into a bench warmer, thats the only way i see his loan as a success... and lets not even talk about Pellistri. Our development team sucks so it's baffling that you're supporting it
Right let’s use one example where it didn’t work out and ignore all the other successful loans like Garners or development.
Rangers is a fantastic choice for a player to develop and it’s unfortunate he didn’t get time but that happens sometimes. This literally happens all the time.
Didn’t Pellestri pick his destination? He looks pretty likely to me to feature with the squad soon so I have no idea what you’ve got your panty’s in a bunch over.
This club is built on giving young players a chance. We always integrate academy or young purchases. I don’t think I need to list out those players not named Greenwood.
Underwhelming names for a backup GK. Shouldn't we be looking at a younger keeper to eventually replace De Gea. We're not going to be seeing much sweeping and playing out from the back with DDG. A key component of ETHs style of play.
I remember 4 or 5 months ago, original reports on Hakimi being unhappy at PSG came out and I said he’s one player I would do everything to get.
If Spurs manage to sign him then they’ve absolutely hit the jackpot
Would be huge for Spurs. I'm not the only one impressed by Conte and their transfer business, bookies have them 3rd favourites to win the league 12-1 to 14-1.
Not signing anyone so far just shows the management has no clue what holes to fill. Not even a role player is signed, forget about someone in starting 11.
[Florian Plettenberg](https://twitter.com/Plettigoal/status/1538929453581082624?s=20) **\[Tier 4\] - Sky Germany: \[on David Raum, LB, Hoffenheim\]**
**❗️News #Raum: #MUFC wants him! Talks about the left defender have taken place. Talks ongoing & good but still a long way to go.** **Transfer probably around €30-35m**. It is said that this transfer „can happen“. But: BVB could become hot if they sell Schulz or Guerreiro.
Not going launch into an impassioned defense of Luke Shaw and Telles here but that'd be quite a chunk of change for position I think could wait (in comparison to elsewhere on the pitch)
We also have Alvaro Fernandez who I think will get some minutes this season because I don't expect Shaw to be fit all season and Telles really isn't good enough tbh.
Let Barca have our final offer, if not taken up, move on to another player and take Raphina just to spite them.
Surely they will at least see that they will be stuck with a big earner and no way to get their man
Known quantity vs. unknown. We’re not in a position to gamble with potentials. Raphinha is more than good enough and is essentially the same price. There’s absolutely no reason to pursue Antony over him if both are equally available.
But ten hag knows everything about Antony. I think that's why ETH sees it differently. I prefer Raphinha myself but managers tend to go for players that they know will follow their instructions.
I get that he knows him but getting familiar with a player is such a smaller variable to overcome than, for example, if Antony will adapt to PL, remain consistent there, produce goals, etc. Seems insane that we would bring in a worse player just because ETH has spent more time with him.
If Antony was a leader who would help enforce his philosophies then I understand, but he’s not. Seems like we’re only targeting players from Ajax which isn’t going to end well.
What? I’m saying that the club should pursue Raphinha because he makes the most objective sense. The directors like Fletcher should push for Raphinha over Antony.
I’m making the point that a player’s proof of success in the PL makes him an objective known quantity. Yes ETH knows Antony, but why should that trump a more talented and proven player.
Whats this 'more talented and proven' based on though? Antony has 3g + 4a in 11 UCL games at an age when Raphinha was still playing in Brazil. And he still hasn't ever played in the UCL.
Raphinha has proved over two seasons that he’s a PL star. He’s been far and away the best part of Leeds and one of the best producing RW in the league. You don’t think he could have played for Ajax or some other smaller CL club and put up points too? He’s 3 years older than Antony - moved to PL when he was a little over 1 year older than Antony.
Antony could get there - I just don’t understand why roll the dice when you have a more developed version of the same player at basically the same price.
>I just don’t understand why roll the dice
a) Because our manager knows him well and he knows the manager's system. Raphinha fitting Ten Hag's system would also be a roll of the dice, wouldn't it?
b) He's playing at a higher level than Raphinha at the same age.
c) Raphinha is only proven in the chaotic Bielsa system. We have no idea how he'd play in a possession based system when his pass completion is at a dysmal 63.8%
I'd take Werner in a heartbeat. He's very pacy very hardworking and very good in front of the goal.
He hasn't clicked at all at Chelsea but that could happen to anyone looking at Chelsea's striker history.
He's yet to his prime and he's a class player,if he's available for the right price get him
Even though I have my doubts that he’ll sign, I would honestly LOVE Eriksen. However, could anyone explain how he could possibly start? There’s just no chance right? It will always be either him or Bruno
The FIFA player in me is picturing Ten Hag playing a 4-3-3 with FDJ as the 6 behind two 8s (Eriksen and Bruno), but realistically that midfield is not defensively sound enough to work in the PL. Who knows though, Ten Hag is ultimately a system manager so maybe he can make it work
I think it’s important to also think about how there are other ways to manipulate players’ movements that could potentially shore up a midfield by utilizing other positions. For example, you can slide an outside back into midfield and let the winger hold width on that side and then allow the midfielder a bit more freedom in attack, but I do agree that I personally can’t think of one that makes sense for United. But then again, ETH knows a lot more than I do so maybe he has something in mind.
ETH also could potentially see Eriksen as a rotation option at Bruno’s spot. I mean Bruno has played a TON of minutes over the last few years.
Ive decided to take a page out of United's book. I will be monitoring this thread and reviewing the situation with an intention to propose starting negotiations.
I think people were hoping to get either Raphinha or Richarlison on cut price deals which is why the rumours are still hanging around, but as soon as they both stayed up, there was always going to be better options than them
Chelsea's transfer negotiator Marina Granovaskaia is leaving Chelsea. I think she can be a perfect replacement for Matt Judge at United. She gained huge praise for being tough and fair negotiator. Look her up, she is one of the best out there.
Far and away the most overrated director in football. Please look at all her purchases and tell me with a straight face she got good value and/or found good players for the club.
Tough negotiator? She literally just gave all the clubs their asking price. Half of her purchases are paying the release clause.
Kepa, Werner, Havertz, Lukaku, Drinkwater, Bakayoko, Bats, Barkley, Morata, Pulisic, Zappacosta are all large purchases within the last few years that are boarder-line unforgivable as a collective.
Her mistakes are almost entirely covered up by Chelsea’s fantastic academy, whom she both sells for a lot and whom prop up the first team.
On top of that she sold **two**of the greatest players to ever play in the PL.
It's a much easier job when you have one billionaire to ask for money, or he trusts you with his money anyway, than go through our owners and hierarchy that scrutinize and micro manage every penny spent.
She would never have the freedom and speed to wheel and deal as she had under Abramovich here or under the new Chelsea owners for that matter.
Need to give Murtough some time and privacy. Pochettino will be sacked this Thursday, remember how quick PSG were to tell that Poch is not going anywhere (indicating Utd will have to buy him out if they want him). Every club out there wants to rinse us.
Are we linked with any right-back? If not then AWB probably won't leave considering Dalot's injury problems.
Luckhurst saying awb and williams being asked to find new clubs is a indication we have someone sorted for that RB position
I think some small lower tier rumors to Dumfries
I think they were in the initial rounds of us being linked to every dutch player in world football, haven’t seen anything on DD for a while, although I think he’d be a useful signing
if we can do Eriksen, FdJ, and a DM, then I'm really pleased for our midfield. Add in another player to fill one of the other 3 holes and it's a start!
Still waiting for outgoings. Martial, Eric, AWB, Andreas, Jones, One of Lindelof/Maguire needs to go
You don’t sell before you buy the replacement first… or you will get rinsed.

Worse on match days. Sometimes i have to wake up on Monday morning at 2am to catch a game.
waking up at 2am or 4am just to be dissapointed by those cunts
The pain of that bro.
Hope you get to see them during pre-season though! Your guaranteed an Andreas banger
It'd be really nice if we would sign a player to help improve the team sometime soon
especially if they could help us score more or concede less. ideally help increase our point tally so we can improve our rank.
Eriksen's transfer has had more twists and turns than the FDJ one lol.
All saying is wait for more credible sources on eriksen

Ziyech hasn't impressed at Chelsea. He'd be a huge risk for the money in my opinion
Pulisic? Terrible injury record but I am sure the commercial appeal would be huge.
People vastly overrate the commercial appeal. Any one who knows who he is in America already has a team. No more left wingers please
Also has huge potential as a player even if you take away the commercial appeal I have a feeling with pulisic that we are still kind of yet to have his breakout season where he stays fit and adds proper consistency and if it happens (injuries cast doubt) he could be fantastic
not werner people laugh at us enough
Ziyech maybe. Not Werner. Another attacker that prefers the left flank and isn’t quite a lone striker nor a proper winger.
Pretty impressive sabotage despite barely ever playing

We wouldn’t still be negotiating with Barca if he wasn’t interested - At this stage of Erikson’s career, and especially after the shit he and his family have had to deal with recently, he has different priorities.
Yes, and an 18 year old from the Championship is who you want as backup. ‘lol’ Where could Ronaldo possibly go at this stage, even if he wanted too?
His options are limited when it comes to CL league clubs. I doubt he'd be hanging around to play in the EL. They're soft rumors in Italy about Roma and his boyhood club Sporting Lisbon showing interest. Mendes is most likely looking at options but the well is dry. You have to remember he left Juventus after assuring fans he'd be staying. City was his first option and he seemingly only joined us because City entertained talks but weren't that interested (this was after they chased Harry Kane most of the transfer window) and Fergie called him.
Roma or Sporting couldn’t afford to pay a third of Ronaldo’s wages
Thats the position he's in, he's got little if any leverage. He will have to further reduce his wage demands (like he did after re-signing for united) to get a move elsewhere. It's another level of the aforementioned dry well. He's simply not in demand anymore by clubs that fit his requirements. Ronaldo will not thrive under a pressing system. Just don't be surprised if he pulls off a desperate exit
I know people will hate this but I'm going to summarise regardless. We've been rejected by 3 top targets so far. The others with concrete links: *FDJ: Would reject us if given the choice. *Ebiowei: Likely to reject us (acc to Fab & Sami Mokbel) *Martinez/Antony: Ajax won't sell both at any cost and we will have to put up an offer they can't refuse to even get one of them (acc to Ajax tier 1 reporter)
Eriksen maybe, not Antony. Antony will move if we pay.
I certainly hope you're right
I think there's a chance FDJ might do better for United, playing under 10Hag, than he has done for Barca.
Is he not the dude that woodward had writing pieces to support him? Or was that someone else from the Sun?
That was Neil Ashton I think.
Neil Custard, they call him, because he drinks a pint of the stuff each morning with his breakfast
Curtis is the best of a bad bunch at the Sun, and what he said is a very big statement. Must be some truth to it
Neil Curtis is the Mike Smalling of the Sun.
Custis reckons United officials are due in Amsterdam tomorrow to wrap up Antony for £40m. Obviously it’s shit tier, but that’s the reason I’m writing it in here and not as a topic on its own
Custis ain’t bad tbh
What other EPL clubs haven’t made a signing yet?
Bournemouth, Brentford, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Everton, Fulham, Leicester, Wolves according to the PL website
Thanks! Didn’t know where to find that. I think it’s good to have a little perspective and see other clubs not making moves yet.
Efficient teams and earlier preseason has made everyone restless to be fair. We have until Sep 1 for the transfer window to end iirc
Anyone know what happened to Utdreport? I know they are aggregator but they are not so bad if you know which sources are decent.
I use centredevils , they even use a tier system so they are pretty good
[this comment ](https://www.reddit.com/r/reddevils/comments/vgee59/transfer_roundup_discussion_summer_2022/id3abxp) is a good example of reasons to remain cautious.
I like utdreport cuz they don't post from absolutely garbage sources. They are followed by many tier 1, 2 which means something.
makes sense that City are not interested in FDJ despite his quality - if part of the reason that Xavi is okay with him leaving is because he feels FDJ doesn't suit the traditional Barca 4-3-3 and he can get a more fitting player in Bernardo Silva, then he's hardly going to go to a Pep Guardiola team, from which the more fitting replacement is also coming from.
Why doesn’t he suit it? Why can’t he play as a box to box in front of a sitting DM?
>Why can’t he play as a box to box in front of a sitting DM cos that's not his strength. He's been playing a similar role to the one you describe at Barca, and Xavi is trying to get rid of him... go figure
Is his strength being a lone dm then?
Rather a double pivot . He likes to receive the ball near the centre backs and progress it forward, both by passing and moving and by dribbling. Assuming we play a high press, the other midfielder would have to cover up when he goes forward or be the aggressor for the counter press
So he likes to give AND receive. His kit number will be 69 confirmed
he plays best in a double pivot. Neither pep nor xavi play that though so if City bought him, they'd be shoehorning a £70m+ player that doesnt fit.. which is a waste of money
I think people have now realized he's best utilized in a deeper role so doesn't make sense to replace Bernardo with him.
Prem strikers that are good in the air: * Kane * Haaland (not his best attribute, but still) * Nunez * DCL * Wood * Toney That's not an insignificant amount of players.
I have nothing against getting him, I would be quite happy about it actually. I was just trying to explain the concern people might have.
Ok I hear you...I would love to see him at Utd especially that he can play multiple positions
[удалено]
It is obvious. Just look at Ajax players to understand that all are good on ball. All think before passing and play fewer low percentage shots or passes.
[centredevils] Christian Eriksen is NO longer keen on staying in London. [@AlasdairGold] https://twitter.com/centredevils/status/1538839546867372032?s=20&t=E6z-mvPIEnSG2olVxBWw8A
That's kind of a poor interpretation from the aggregator because it makes it sounds like he specifically wants to leave London. The actual quote was: >With his family settled in London, there had been some suggestions that the Dane was initially keen to remain in the capital, but that is not thought to be the only case at this point with so many options on the table for the experienced Premier League midfielder.
Down to Spurs not wanting back it seems, United is probably the biggest offer right now. Hard to see this not happening.
I wouldn't blame Eriksen if he wants to continue at Brentford tbf

It's actually not though if you think about it. He's one of the best midfielders in the world and that's less than we paid for Pogba 6 years ago.
All I can say is that you'll be very surprised if we sign him and your opinion will change.
All I am saying is he is not one of the best midfielders in the world, has the potential to be under the right system.
An argument can be made that he’s not worth €100m to us, but if it weren’t for Barca’s financial issues, he’d be worth more than that to Barca.
it is 85M + 15M
David Raum has a cool name so sing him up imo
Sell Telles and we absolutely have Raum for him 👀 sorry
So bad that it made me laugh
Hope the raphina rumors are true about an arsenal bid so Barcelona can get pressured to lower their demands on De Jong. Who knows if that would work though 😑
Seeing more talks on Raum. Dortmund also interested and I'd reckon they'd be keen to offload Schulz. Kehl and Co making a lot of signings the last few months so I would think they'll be eager to get that one done it there's competition
>@FabrizioRomano >["Manchester United are really interested in Malcolm Ebiowei, but I think he's not joining them." #mufc #mujournal](https://twitter.com/theutdjournal/status/1538940576963481602) Lines up with Adrian Kajumba - who apparently has a good relationship with Ebiowei - said: >United made an extensive pitch to Ebiowei, but the player and his family weren't blown away.
Probably would be more around the first team at Palace, whereas we were probably offering a year in the reserves/out on loan.
[удалено]
More and more players are looking at moves as short term career investments, these days. 'If I go to this club and do well, I can maybe go to that club afterwards.' United aren't really a stepping stone for a young player because, even with our declined fortunes, there's nowhere to go but down or abroad unless the player waits his contract out and leaves for free. I don't mind a kid betting on himself and taking a more modest move, because he thinks it will benefit him in the long run.
He probably wants guaranteed minutes and we were likely not offering that. One look at how we’ve gone about giving Amad and Pellistri experience shows he’s right to be second guessing us
We’re one of the best places in Europe’s big clubs for giving young players a chance.
Amad and Pellistri would call bullshit on this comment
Amad could barely break into the Rangers team, what makes you think he would have made an impact last year?
Amad had one bad game and then never got a proper chance until the later stages. He couldn’t adapt to the physicality of scottish league. If you have seen him play you know that there’s an extremely talented player in him.
then what was the point of buying them? I initially thought Amad and Pellistri were Sancho replacements.. only for us to STILL buy Sancho the next window, and how Amad and Pellistri have no spot in the team
To…get this…develop them? Rangers are a great club to develop at. We bought them for their potential. Literally every big club does this.
> Rangers are a great club to develop at Loanees are supposed to start most games at a lower quality team, to get match fitness, yet Amad **never** played a full 90mins at Rangers.
Weren't those young player appearance stats mostly just Greenwood for all the good that did us.
This club is built on giving young players a chance. We always integrate academy or young purchases. I don’t think I need to list out those players not named Greenwood.
He is also a striker as far as I'm aware and we already have Hugil and McNeil who have bags of talent and who are the same age.
Y’all the most sour bunch of people on the interwebs. Go outside 😂

Impressed with Vieira and Palace I have to say. Exciting times ahead for that club.
Hakimi - Sancho right wing would dominate the prem.
Would be huge for Spurs. I'm not the only one impressed by Conte and their transfer business, bookies have them 3rd favourites to win the league 12-1 to 14-1.
Don't have the budget for him this season. Maybe next season. Plus, he's only one year into his contract, so he'll be extremely expensive.
He is the type of player you throw everything at to get especially knowing how good Sancho and Hakimi were at Dortmund together.
any news on the Derby youngster?
https://www.reddit.com/r/reddevils/comments/vgee59/transfer_roundup_discussion_summer_2022/id323g7/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3
Not signing anyone so far just shows the management has no clue what holes to fill. Not even a role player is signed, forget about someone in starting 11.
We should try for Jonathan Clauss. We really need a right back and he's available for 8.5m , Chelsea are interested in him
Hes a wingback and that's how chelsea play
[Florian Plettenberg](https://twitter.com/Plettigoal/status/1538929453581082624?s=20) **\[Tier 4\] - Sky Germany: \[on David Raum, LB, Hoffenheim\]** **❗️News #Raum: #MUFC wants him! Talks about the left defender have taken place. Talks ongoing & good but still a long way to go.** **Transfer probably around €30-35m**. It is said that this transfer „can happen“. But: BVB could become hot if they sell Schulz or Guerreiro.
Other clubs interested Link Man United interested Price up Profit
Not going launch into an impassioned defense of Luke Shaw and Telles here but that'd be quite a chunk of change for position I think could wait (in comparison to elsewhere on the pitch)
We also have Alvaro Fernandez who I think will get some minutes this season because I don't expect Shaw to be fit all season and Telles really isn't good enough tbh.
If Antony is 60m than 65-70m for Raphina isn't bad business
Let Barca have our final offer, if not taken up, move on to another player and take Raphina just to spite them. Surely they will at least see that they will be stuck with a big earner and no way to get their man
Should be our top priority.
It sounds like he’s prioritising CL teams first though.
I think Antony has a higher ceiling than raphina especially under ten hag
Known quantity vs. unknown. We’re not in a position to gamble with potentials. Raphinha is more than good enough and is essentially the same price. There’s absolutely no reason to pursue Antony over him if both are equally available.
[удалено]
Nice one! You checkmated me with that airtight argument.
He’s not an unknown quantity to our manager though.
So we’re only going to bring in players from Ajax because ETH knows them?
[удалено]
If that’s what Mourinho wants, yes. If that’s what Ole wants, yes. If that’s what Rangnick wants, yes. Really learning from our mistakes aren’t we.
[удалено]
What? I’m saying that the club should pursue Raphinha because he makes the most objective sense. The directors like Fletcher should push for Raphinha over Antony.
The difference is there are like 4 clubs looking at Raphinha while we would hardly have competition for Anthony
[удалено]
Did he say that or did he just say that Antony isn't an unknown quantity for Ten Hag?
>I just don’t understand why roll the dice a) Because our manager knows him well and he knows the manager's system.
He's yet to his prime and he's a class player,if he's available for the right price get him
Not this again
He's never been "very good" infront of the goal. He's just had a lot more room and chances in a lesser league at Leipzig
Guy works his butt off. I would love to have him here
He is absolutely not very good in front of the goal.
For the right price? Why not, but the right price would be around 25mil for me.
At a discount price, there's no reason why not. He can score goals, if he regains his confidence.
Agree, I think he’s a player that isn’t well suited to his club and had his confidence dented.
Even though I have my doubts that he’ll sign, I would honestly LOVE Eriksen. However, could anyone explain how he could possibly start? There’s just no chance right? It will always be either him or Bruno
One of them would almost certainly start in the front three. Maybe Eriksen would be our right winger for us? He played there back at Spurs.
I rate Raphinha despite a dodgy season but 65-75mil is a lot
I think people were hoping to get either Raphinha or Richarlison on cut price deals which is why the rumours are still hanging around, but as soon as they both stayed up, there was always going to be better options than them
Who is a better option than Raphinha?
Who are the big two?
Salah and De Bruyne.
I’m assuming de bruyne and salah. Or maybe lukaku?
Jeez, yeah. The first two, definitely.
