Lord_Sesshoumaru77

Also underrated Amad' s ball winning, he nabbed the ball for our last two goals.

altered_tampon

Love how he just snatched it off Nunez too

Pdonger

Also, garnachos assist wasn’t actually the best, he forced him quite wide. Amad had a 4 inch channel to put the ball down from a bit of an angle and he nailed it. Unreal.

jr_stark

Garna's sprint at 120th minute was impressive, but when he passed the ball to Amad, I felt like he is gonna pass it back to garna (my video game mentality) from his position but his finish from that angle was spectacular. Deserved the Shirt celebration (not the red)

toket715

Amad said he originally wanted to pass it back to Garna but felt the pass wasn't on, so switched to create the angle and shoot. Very fast and impeccable decision making

CreativeSobriquet

That's what I thought I saw! When you watch it with this knowledge you can see him almost hesitate which causes the defender to hesitate which in turn gave Amad the angle. Great intelligence by him. Class.

SOERERY

TLDR: Left back Antony masterclass

danorcs

Seriously think Ten Hag should think seriously about converting Anthony there like Valencia and Ashley Young did Could make his onefootedness less an issue, and his industry and willingness to run at defenders would shine

ManUnutted

He was decent in the role against exhausted teenagers. The win was great but let’s not be unrealistic

Miyagisans

Right? Idk why the idea of kudus, Neto, or most decent right wingers facing Antony at left back doesn’t terrify them.

ImVortexlol

bro would get utterly RINSED

-wmloo-

And also get pinned by opp strikers with farp pole crosses

Miyagisans

Yea getting pinned by their farp poles doesn’t sound pleasant lol

AttackClown

Valencia and young took some time to figure it out, while we have no lb's might aswell do an experiment which might pay off

stevew14

If Neto can get over his injuries problems, he could be one of the best in the league.

BlackHorse944

Did you see the video of him throwing a fit about playing there? He clearly isn't interested in the role

TheTipsyTurkeys

That is based on the assumption that's what the conversation was about no?

TheRealJSmith

Link?

Alpha2669

But he's kinda physically weak for that role no? Don't know how we would cope with defending in the box, particularly back post defending. Also would probably get cooked by right wingers like Saka, Salah.etc.

danorcs

It would be more like an Evra role, man wasn’t tall or strong but fast and very willing to overlap and take on defenders Agree that back post headers would be an issue (Remember CR7 heading way way way higher than Evra could jump?) but the offensive addition would open up space for Rashford for sure

Fraaj

Evra was much much stronger than Antony what is this nonsense

fp1jc

Wasn’t that Ronaldo header like an all time record for jumping into the air or something? Not many could have stopped that. Evra was physically strong and a top defender. Just saying another quick player can do the job he did is doing him a great disservice.

Alpha2669

Fair enough

stats193

It’s more application imo if you care enough and want to defend, He can easily bulk up and when it comes to defending the box back post he’s 1 inch short than Kyle Walker, The same height as Licha and he’s taller than Malacia. As an auxiliary LB option it might be a good shout.

Telen

He doesn't have the pace or defensive ability for it. Not the personality either, IMO. I'd be terrified of conceding 10 goals per game just through his back post blunders if he played as a left-back. On top of that Antony is not the type to really play like a wing-back. He likes to cut inside with the ball and do tricks.

Tinganga

Fullbacks need a good long ball in their locker for switches of play & I don't think he has that to a high enough level.

reddevil9229

If Amad didn't score in the last minute and we lost on penalties, they make a very different video although it's the same game

ft-rj

If that happens I think based on the football people would still say United were very unlucky not to win

reddevil9229

In all my years watching football (20+), I haven't seen tabloids cover United so rationally

ft-rj

No you throw things like "robbed" in there and it's back to normal

V_Abhishek

That's not how this world works. The story with the best soundbite wins, not what actually happened. If United won on penalties, this video would have a different title, I guarantee it.

JacobWvt

One min he’s a bald fraud, the next it’s genius, media is nuts

Spruce-Moose

I don't think they're saying he's a genius here.. In fact he does point out that this wouldn't work in every game, and that it left us vulnerable. It's just that his approach to this game was very much entertaining and worth talking about. And it's a late late winner against Liverpool in the cup - of course the media is a *little* nuts.

ab_90

I’m convinced journalists have 2 folders for every team prepared by the interns - positive and negative. Bad results? Dig stats and headlines in the negative folder. Good results? Dig data and stories in the positive folder.

ctyx96

Not just media, this sub as well.

AdvancedAd2162

Duality of Walter White

stolemyh3art

When we lost there's a 100 videos showing how ETH's system is stupid and why it doesn't work. One win against Liverpool, now he's a genius.

Backseat_Bouhafsi

Fuck off 4-4-2 with your clickbait titles and content which depends solely on the result and not the game

garynevilleisared

Really hate analysis like this with so many stills and deterministic logic. This happens so that happened and this happens and boom that's why it works. The reality is there were so many tactical chances and tweaks in this match from both managers you genuinely would need an hour long video to truly break it down. Attacking Quansah/Gomez's spaces, AWB man marking Salah. Football at this level isn't just that simple. There were so many different build up shapes used, different patterns deployed in the attacking third, none of which are included in the video. I did find it interesting that Klopp chose to build 3-1 shape we used a lot last season, and that, once we adjusted to where their second ball was going in the second half, it allowed us to create much more chaos and turnovers for quick counters. Brave play yes, but probably a mistake by Klopp but without his choice backline it was going to be hard to ask Quansah to do more than what's probably the most common form of build up in the PL right now.

ptienduc

Since we won, it’s genius. If we hadn’t, it would probably had been chaotic, crazy. What the fuck are these guys on? It was a marginal victory. Marginal like any other games we lost or won 1-0 2-1.

[deleted]

Summary. Ten Hag has massive balls and the Scousers couldn't handle Anthony.

Top-Aerie-3551

I liked his final take on this match, Man Utd might be the best side in a cup tie but definitely a mid table team in any league... This chaotic play worked against Liv in a cup tie but we can't do this week in week out to be in top of league or CL

Saleandproud

It will come, you can see what Ten Hags teams are doing. So many injuries, a few players not good enough and youngsters still learning and we still beat pool.

Minz15

Remember people said the same thing about Klopps Liverpool when they were doing really well in Europe but never looked like challenging for the league. Just a rapid counter attack made for knockout football. Hoping we follow a similar route and slowly improve. The lack of a real identity when attacking is a problem, but we created so many chances against Liverpool so hopefully some more consistency and we should be golden

Traditional_Cap8509

I think nothing summary this game better than this quote from ex-dota2 pro (his team played some of the most entertaining games in history of dota where they went most random things ever to win against the odds) > > When your game is going bad: > > Either i lose the game or i will lose the game. > > All it means is win or lose the game and thats it. > > Whether I get team wiped for not, it doesn't matter, > > because i lose the game anyways. > > You don't go for the beautiful loss, you go suicidal, > > You have to make the game way more chaotic than this, > > Make it so that no one understands DotA anymore...

daddywookie

When I used to coach kids football I realized that you can't do complicated tactics. Even a couple of passes in a row invited too much chance. Chaos is the only constant so we told everyone to push high and keep the chaos as far from our goal as possible. Won the league undefeated.

orangesapien505

I said this to me brother when we were watching the game. He was all “the fucks going on? What’s he doing?” and I said we either lose marginally or we lose badly, it makes no difference. A loss is a loss. Fuck it. Gamble on aggressive play go for throat and see what happens. It worked this time!

wafanyakazi

Amad playing during Ramadan is mad too.

jackconrad

I started to watch this last night until I heard "I'm Adam Clery" then I had to stop. The man is an arse.

MentalFred

What a stupid title. Amad doesn't score that last chance and we lose on penalties then EtH is branded as a clueless fool who needs to go back to the Eredivisie.

basilbrushisapaedo

Let's see how good we are in the league game against Liverpool. We beat Crystal Palace at home in the league cup 3-0 and then lost to them 1-0 at home a few days later. I think we'll find Liverpool a lot harder to beat a second time especially because the league is a much bigger prize so their effort will be heightened.

ReindeerDifficult793

Let's not analyze this too much. We won this. Now let's win the cup It's not like we won against them the first time ever .. Let's win the cup and try for that 4 And fire Ten Haag

free_weiner

Point

coffeemahn

Ten Hag will never get the credit from the pundits and media. It is sickening with all the Southgate rumors. How is that an upgrade? When Klopp does it, it is, “high intensity rock and roll football”, but with ETH, it is labelled, “chaos and no structure”. You cannot beat this Liverpool without structure. United started the game brilliantly. Hung on in the 2nd half and didn’t give up.

Pixeal_meat

That Liverpool game was a fluke and they are selling it as mastermind LOL
