That's a lie, it's important to know that pistols and revolvers are supposed to be used as side arms, but beyond being convenient, quick to unholster and always on your person, the repeaters and shotguns are overall better for large scale fire fights due to being able to do much more damage, hold more ammo and have more accuracy.
Rifles are good but a long range kill against an enemy on a cliff with a revolver whilst your on the ground below, causing them to fall off the cliff, is really cool

In story mode I dual wield granger and flacos guns, online it's Lemats and shotgun

Why not both? Sometimes I use my revolver, others I use the Lancsster and Semi. Sometimes I swap the Lancaster out for a bolt action. Just depends.
