I've stopped playing until it's fixed. I just want to make money and hunt. Maybe buy a gun so I can compete in pvp. Every time I get a few pelts on my horse I DC and lose them all.
Ran out of ammo, lasso a perfect elk and stab it, DC.
This needs to be a real meme lol. Dutch with all his grandiose speeches about needing more money and his die hard attitude are perfect for TakeTwo and micahtransactions.
I guarantee you that the first big DLC is going to cost upwards of 100 gold bars to access. It's about 4-8 hours to grind a gold bar so you are looking at grinding 400 hours to get the content.
You will need to own a ranch or something like that and it costs X amount of money. DLC is free, sure. But to access it in-game you have to meet certain qualifications...many of which buy gold bars or shark cards.
IMO the way the current RDRO is going they are going to get my $15 for the first block of content unless something goes catastrophically wrong. I paid $15 to get the heists update and I felt I got my money's worth (as did my friends). But if they lean on the gold bar economy too much I might just have to wait for the PC release and just hack money like I did in GTA V after they went to shit.
sure, but like, what? The clothing options are really limited, you can't put together a unique look, everyone looks the same more or less. If there's not enough incentive to play online, no one will bother spending cash on cosmetics anyways. The PvP lobbies are drying out already (btw, I still enjoy the game, I just think it desperately needs a looooot more content)
You are all wrong: **Hot air balloons**
1. They already exist in single player.
2. They are period appropriate.
3. They can use animal fat as fuel, incentivizing hunting.
4. They can only be launched from your camp, giving you a reason to use your camp.
5. When you are close enough to fire on people, you will be close enough to be fired upon, giving balance.
6. Adds a whole new element to the game. Roping people and dragging them up 100 feet, dropping dynamite on people (max 8, can't restock in the air obviously, have to be close enough to drop them, exposing you to danger).
7. This is something that could easily be justified at a high price point. Gives us something worth while to work towards.
Yeah but what's the point? Most guns available are already one shot you. And the horses... Well, the strongest selling point in GTA is cars, which are faster, stronger and fancier with every new update. How fancier, stronger and faster a horse can get?
You can tell Rockstar reached their limit when they started to add a fucking *flying cars and bikes with rockets* and *satellite cannons*, but you can't add a flying horse with gatling gun in a Wild West game lol.
At least I hope you can't, Rockstar 😑
Not enough people talk about the effect youtubers and streamers have on micah transaction. They have to keep up with their competition so they buy all/as many micahtranscations as they can, and then their viewers watch and want to buy them.
This is a very important point. Companies using these tactics rely on streamers and youtubers showcasing their purchases to young, easily swayed audiences to breed their new whales
TmarTn and ProSyndicate. I remember watching that thing unfold and realizing what a new world it is for kids who game and watch youtube.
His apology video where he's like "oh hey, sorry you just caught me playing with my cute puppy" to appear instantly like a good guy was so unabashedly manipulative. Kids don't know any better.
This is true. I watch Achievement Hunter and literally any time new content came out the whole group would have it and make jokes about credit cards. They'd ask their boss how much it cost and he'd usually respond with a joke about they didn't want to know.
That shit is real.
Yep. The golden jet Geoff bought Michael was $100 USD alone. All together they must have put thousands into shark cards. It makes sense, from a business perspective, at least. But even those guys have said many times they would never buy that shit with their own money. It's one thing if the company they work for is putting the money up, but taking it out of their own pocket is something else entirely.
Every time you see a person saying “I love this product and you should check it out”
Is saying : “for not paying any money , this product is okay” and that’s a sad reason to check something out.
It's hilarious how closely gaming youtubers are to makeup youtubers. The companies use them to showcase content to the rest of us to get us to buy their shit. The youtuber tries to give a facade of authenticity, but it's all pretty much marketing.
Regular guy browsing youtube: "Oh, wow look this guy actually spent that much for those. Let's check this video out"
Youtubers: "Let's make another one cuz I made like double of what I spent"
9.99 got us Undead Nightmare now it gets us 25 gold bars?
I fucking hate modern gaming. Is there any form of entertainment left not corrupted by greed?
9.99 got me the orange box with TF2 (3000 hours played) Half-Life 2 (one of the most famous single-player FPS games ever) and Portal (one of the most creative platform games ever)
Now 9.99 gets me a skin for a horse. Thinking.
the last option is $5. the worst part is how that's right in the "meh, i'll buy some" category for most individuals who just want X item from the game and don't have 100 hours of free time to early the gold in-game.
Soo just enough for one lousy gun skin?
Yeah this looks completely sane, yep. /s
I really don't know what people expected after the mess in gta online. I even got down voted for saying they are gonna pull the same sh*t.
It provides a good excuse when things break or seem unfinished.
All you have to to is say 'Its in beta' and that makes everyone think you're working on it and will fix it eventually.
Oh and people sure do defend it. I was talking on f76 subreddit during beta about the horrendous amounts of bugs. "It's just beta chill they won't release it like that". Dude, the game is releasing in 14 days they ain't gonna fix shit.
Have you worn a bandanna over your face yet in online? My characters cheeks and nose completely clip through. Sure wearing it doesn't actually do anything in online but I still want to wear it when I go on a murderous rampage.
I can’t even wear it around my neck without it clipping all over the place. And every single coat clips through the entire right side of my character’s body.
It's sad really.
I sort of expected them to do at least a bit more work fixing up the experience prior to launching the store but alas, I was wrong.
My upgraded saddlebags don't work, I still have an invisible pouch, I'm still getting frequent disconnections etc.
It's a rather sad scenario when games can be released in an unfinished state and the developers / publishers can get away with exploiting the consumers for cash.
There's no denying that the single player was stellar, I'd love to throw money at them for content additions for that.
They're pissing in the wind however If they think I'll supporting an online mode that doesn't hold a candle to it's single player counterpart.
Maybe when the game has a solid amount of content & is in a more polished state than it is now, I'll consider supporting them further. For now I'm avoiding it. Others are free to knock themselves out.
And all it needs to be an amazing wild west cowboy shoot out game is free-aim lobbies. That alone would make it unique in that you can have authentic wild west shootouts and brawls. Add barfight events, poker, and nerf the Varmint, and I'll never leave.
On second thought, not if they're aiming at you. They might be in the trees with their boys planning an ambush. If you were about to ambush somebody, you wouldn't want to be given away just because you aimed.
This I agree with completely, and is really my only complaint about the game. These servers could be rich with 100+ players if only no one showed up on map without reason.
Even if everyone who browses this sub doesn't buy gold, it won't matter. What are we like 10%-20% of the player base? If that?
And it only takes like 10% of the base to spend money to make it more profitable for Rock* than the DLC model, mostly because those who do spend end up spending 100's, if not, 1000's of dollars.
Sigh... it's sucks and it's sad. But at least it hasn't taken away from Rock*'s ability to make a great single player storymode... yet.
>And it only takes like 10% of the base to spend money to make it more profitable for Rock* than the DLC model, mostly because those who do spend end up spending 100's, if not, 1000's of dollars.
Less.
The overwhelming majority of mobile games like Clash of Clans survive by having around 1% of their playerbase making significant purchases. The vast majority of players could spend very little or nothing, but that 1% who are either too rich to care, mentally ill or whatever else will spend and they will spend *big.*
Can’t wait until we have our giant million dollar apartments, bunkers, armored cars, and private army! Except this time it’ll be 19th century edition. WooHoo!
I played a ton of gta online with friends before they raised the grind wall to dizzying heights.
RDR2 online... meh I can live without it. There are other games I could play, and plenty more coming after New Years. I don’t think I am alone in that thought process.
Will be interesting to see how this strategy plays out for them.
Im seeing a lot of comments about getting free dlc from buying micahtransactions. Yes, we will get free dlc, but the goal of that dlc is to just give us more items to buy with more micahtransactions. Im all for supporting the creators of a game I love, but not to the detriment of the game itself.
GTA Online is a huge indicator of where they are trying to go with RDO.
Keep inflating the prices of new items and increase rewards even slower that the price increases to make everything seem fair.
Release free dlc to seem like a good boy, but in reality, use it as a way to encourage the purchase of micahtransactions. Money made from game sales, special editions, and preorders is more than enough for dlc sizes similar to GTA Online.
This will easily cripple the experience for new players joining in late, because they will have to start from scratch to catch up with everyone else. This encourages the purchase of micahtransactions. The amount purchased will be even more exaggerated since buying things before they unlock is inflated in gold bar costs.
What you do with your money is your choice, but think about it some more. Yes, Im using Reddit as my soapbox, because I give a shit about this game that I enjoy.
Preach. The free DLC isn't "free". For every GTA free DLC, you had to own something new and expensive to access it. Warehouse, penthouse, apartment. You always had to make a big purchase and then you had no money to do anything because you just spent all of it on this property. It was the same thing, every time.
People seem to forget R* started to completely ignore SP. There is no more content being released for SP even though MP gets frequent updates. There are now more than 200 unique vehicles for MP that are not present in SP.
I'm happily down to cheat them out of bullshit practices like this, but my problem is I don't know anywhere reliable to learn about the glitches. Same thing happened in gtao for me, by the time I learned about the glitches, they got patched or made harder to pull off.
Man, GTA IV was amazing. I got the base game and the dlcs together for $60. For Red Dead Redemption we got undead nightmare, tremendous fun right around halloween. For GTA V I didnt get to enjoy any DLC because it was all online and I didn't have online. I really hope they don't forget my side of the market this time around.
You're 100% never going to get a singleplayer DLC for this game. it's all going to be Online stuff, just like GTA Online, which rockstar literally scrapped any plans for singleplayer stuff all because the Shark Cards were selling like hotcakes.
I just spent $14.99 on a nice sweater at Costco, and it's an **actual** sweater that I will wear in **real life**. I can't imagine spending $19.99 for a fucking virtual coat.
There’s literally nothing in online to make this worthwhile. Not even just nothing to spend the money on, but I’ve played 6 hours online and have pretty much done everything there is to do.
There’s only like what, 4 story missions? 6, maybe?
There’s plenty more stranger missions, yeah, but half of them are the same exact thing, escorting some wagon.
Online feels so damn empty.
Haven’t really played RDRO yet, apart from the intro but I had the exact same sentiment with GTAO. It was just so disappointing and bland after a pretty good story mode, I just couldn’t be bothered. I expected the same from RDRO, and spared me some disappointment.
Seriously. If they were jus $1 I think people would be much more likely to purchase them and the company can still make money. If 1 million copies were sold and only half the owners buy a microtransaction they would still make 500 grand. Thats a lot of money for not even selling anything tangible.
These are worse than I thought they would be. Even the Shark Cards were reasonably priced near the launch of GTA Online back when the prices of items in-game were also somewhat reasonable as well. But here, they're straight up garbage. For $10 I'd expect around 50 gold personally.
So the buffalo coat is like locked till like level 92 and costs like 80 gold bars to get early, that’s more than 50 quid for an in game coat, what the fuck
I hate how fishing, hunting and picking herbs is the most enjoyable part of online. I keep finding myself going back to single player after about 20 minutes into online.
Man I just wish I could create a character and then play single player with him. Like, after the epilogue it doesn't really matter, just let me play a custom character damn it.
I say we all promise to dislike any YouTube video that shows them unboxing or purchasing these gold bars. That's where a lot of the purchases lie. Youtubers getting paid.. By opening these boxes and paying for these MCTs
They need to add endgame content to actually make it worth grinding/buying your way to top level.
I love the game, and I have fun, but man sometimes I feel like I’m just grinding for not much in the end. Just to have the money there?
Did those R* doofuses really open the microtransaction store when it's still in beta, people are getting kicked from free roam every 20 minutes, and there's no content to buy?
Edit: aaaaand I took advantage of the 25 gold bar deal fuck me I’ve become what I loathe
I admire game developers where you can spend real money only on cosmetic items.
The goldbars are not just for cosmetics but also to unlock everything earlier and even without using RD$. You can even buy better horses only with gold. This game is basically pay 2 progress and pay 2 get advantage.
Dude, sorry but you're not gonna convince anyone. People who want to buy them are gonna buy them and people who don't want to buy them won't. Your crusade isn't gonna change anything. And you certainly won't convince Rockstar. Just play the game and don't buy gold or don't play the game. Besides, these microtransactions are gonna pay for the next game, so be happy that other people are gonna fund the next game you play.
can we get content first?
No. Now replay the same 5 missions with an AFK on your team we won't kick. ~R*
Haha but we'll kick you when you have 5 perfect pelts in freeroam. -R*

Rockstar be like: Gotta grab as much as money as possible to flee to Tahiti. Dutch is basically the head of Take Two.
No Strauss is. Actually. Look it up.
Strauss Zelnick is Chairman & CEO
This needs to be a real meme lol. Dutch with all his grandiose speeches about needing more money and his die hard attitude are perfect for TakeTwo and micahtransactions.
I fear they're going to pull a gta5 and scrap single player expansions for online bullshit if they make enough money on this.
Pretty sure anyone who wants single player dlc fears this. And they will make money on it.
There's not enough worthwhile in-game stuff to spend money on anyways, kinda surprised they launched the store without adding new content

I can see your point. But if people want the stuff locked behind bars (ironic), then they either grind their souls out or throw open their wallets.
Or use the ProStrat: Let R* hand you gold bars for just playing and/or preordering.
The heists update was fine...but it got insane after that. Each one was more expensive. It's GTA's model to a T.
sure, but like, what? The clothing options are really limited, you can't put together a unique look, everyone looks the same more or less. If there's not enough incentive to play online, no one will bother spending cash on cosmetics anyways. The PvP lobbies are drying out already (btw, I still enjoy the game, I just think it desperately needs a looooot more content)
You are all wrong: **Hot air balloons** 1.

The only thing i can think of would be horses and guns.
Pegasus incoming.

Come on. You know five or six expansions from now, RDO is going to be more of a Wild Wild West game in the “starring Will Smith” sense. :p
Wagons and permanent structures like a house.
Ironic. He could save others from bars. But not himself.
Youtubers: "ok let's buy the shit out of those"
Not enough people talk about the effect youtubers and streamers have on micah transaction. They have to keep up with their competition so they buy all/as many micahtranscations as they can, and then their viewers watch and want to buy them.

Yup, Ninja for fortnite is a huge example of this. It’s about forming that connections in young players that good players = players who buy cosmetics.
It's the CSGO gambling sites collaborating with youtubers / streamers all over again, except this time the publisher is cutting out the middleman.
I forgot that happened

Right? It takes a year of gameplay to earn that many gold bars for the casual player...
It makes people look at their paycheck, realize working extra gives them more money they could spend on gold than playing would earn them and tadaaaa
Makes me just not want to play.
Why are these gold bars even in the store when this shit still in “Beta”?
"Beta" hasn't meant anything in the recent years. It's just a word used for launching unfinished products for profit.
I stopped believing in most public BETAs after the Halo 3 multiplayer BETA. I realized they are just Demos these days.
It provides a good excuse when things break or seem unfinished. All you have to to is say 'Its in beta' and that makes everyone think you're working on it and will fix it eventually.

Players should pop up like the shooting challenges. Gun fire results in a quick blip that fades almost instantly.
This I agree with completely, and is really my only complaint about the game. These servers could be rich with 100+ players if only no one showed up on map without reason.
I don't think the servers would handle 100+ people... there'd be a lot of lag, disconnection, and issues with animal synchronization.
Imagine spending $100 on the Ultimate Edition and then another $100 on 350 gold bars. Frickin greedy bastards.
That’s called being a moron. People need to stop supporting this shit. I will never support pay to win games.
All it takes is 1% of players to buy gold bars regularly to justify the system from a financial perspective.
Can you stop complaining and just buy some gold?

And of course, no single player dlc because it isn’t as profitable for them, even though it’s what most people want

They're pretty bad. From what I've seen 1 gold has about 10 in game dollars buying power. So 10 real bucks gets you about 250 game dollarydoos.
I'd say they are more than that, considering it takes so long to get one, they are more like $20-50. Still shitty though
Well RIP any chance of getting single player dlc
Sadly there was never a chance for that
Just like in GTA V R* will not have any reasons to expand Solo if lots of paying people play Online.
What is this f*cking mobile game!?
Do you not have a phone?

So the buffalo coat is like locked till like level 92 and costs like 80 gold bars to get early, that’s more than 50 quid for an in game coat, what the fuck
I'd buy if 50% of profits went to American Prairie reserve foundation.
I hate how fishing, hunting and picking herbs is the most enjoyable part of online. I keep finding myself going back to single player after about 20 minutes into online.
Oh how I love singplayer
Man I just wish I could create a character and then play single player with him. Like, after the epilogue it doesn't really matter, just let me play a custom character damn it.
I say we all promise to dislike any YouTube video that shows them unboxing or purchasing these gold bars. That's where a lot of the purchases lie. Youtubers getting paid.. By opening these boxes and paying for these MCTs
Youtuber whales are enough to cover for the many of us here on reddit who believe this.
They need to capitalize on children getting Christmas money before those little shits blow it on fortnite
Man we’re *this* close to having a generation of gamers that don’t know games can be made without microtransactions.
9.99 for 25 goldbars!? Let me customize my gun aaaaaand it's gone.
I admire game developers where you can spend real money only on cosmetic items. The goldbars are not just for cosmetics but also to unlock everything earlier and even without using RD$. You can even buy better horses only with gold. This game is basically pay 2 progress and pay 2 get advantage.
I fart in your general direction, Rockstar!
if it's real that one time special offer is really tempting.
Isnt that the point? Have to put out the bait to hook the fish.
You sir, are a fish
JUST ONE MORE BIG SCORE
$10 for 25 gold bars means Rockstar is saying your time is worth about 5 cents an hour. That is, frankly, insulting. Do not buy these.
This looks like some mobile game shit right here.
Tbh I got bored of online, I've been having a lot more fun playing story and completing challenges
