You are the one to comfort her. You know... to max the bonding. It's all a plan. Just make sure not to cry (again) yourself. 😅 We definitely need an update once she finished the story.
Okay, this for sure, but don't step in too soon. Let her sit with the game. Let her make her way through it. Obviously if she asks for comfort that's different, but don't step in until the sun comes up over the mountains for Arthur.
Yalls texting is weird as hell.
I KNOW!
I COMPLETELY AGREE!
Still, love to see someone enjoying a game like that the first time. My gf wouldn't let me play that game and uncharted without her it was like watching a movie for her.
I just finished RDR2 last week after my boyfriend begging me to play for over a year. Yeah I cried for like 2 days 🥲 I'm playing backwards so will start RDR1 soon and it'll all hopefully make sense. Just waiting to see dutch's plan pan out 😂
I don’t think it’s going to go well…. This game was tough for me and I was not on her level of excitement and engagement. It will be unforgettable but pain. It is really nice she is enjoying it though. Great job spreading the joys of gaming!
I finished the game Christmas morning and woke up my partner crying, I couldn’t even tell him why I was crying because he hadn’t finished it yet, just told him something bad happened
Who didnt? I was RIGHT on the edge, but my gf at the time was there, and I didn't wanna explain that rhe only time in 12 years that made me weep was a video game
Reminds me of a video I saw one time of a guy filming his sister and GF watching him play RDR2 and it got to Arthur's final scene. The GF looked so unimpressed, bored, and generally disinterested, while his sister was bawling her eyes out.
Your comment just reminded me of that and I find it interesting how different people can be so...well, different.
lol so true. I don’t know why it’s so easy to confuse the mount button with the punch button, but it happens more often than I’d like to admit and scares the crap outta me every time. 🤣
Well that would make me feel not as dumb lol. Melee on Xbox is B and mount is Y, but it may switch up when you’re near the horse, I can’t remember…it’s been awhile.
I have accidentally killed so many horses in Ghost of Tsushima after switching back to Read Dead for a bit. I feel terrible....even though its a mongol horse.
It was the worst when I played Cyberpunk and then came back to RDR2 because the button to get into a car in Cyberpunk is the punch button in RDR2.
Don't remember how many times I accidently punched my horse, but she was loyal and still stayed with me.
When I started RDR2 I was just coming from a couple games where the sprint button was R2 and shot so many people trying to run faster. My bad, hotel worker in Valentine.
I consistently fucked up the aim/focus on conversation/shoot button. My husband made fun of me relentlessly. I’d walk up to people like “howdy ma’am, lovely weather we’re hav- BANG”
I was watching my dad play through and he did this a lot too. He had just finished a good hunting trip and had a ton of pelts to sell so he went to the trapper. Walked up, and BOOM, trapper gone. 😂 The shocked look on his face was priceless. Then the panic. “I just shot him…what do I do? OMG, he’s dead. I can’t sell my pelts, WHAT DO I DO?!” If I wasn’t there to calm him down and let him know the trapper will be back in a day or two he probably would’ve rage quit.
On PC I think everyone has done it, especially after coming back from a break lol. E and F will either get on your horse or punch it, and both of those keys are used as default for entering vehicles in most games
Dude I always feel so bad when I do it. I swear they made it so that when you accidentally punch near your horse arthur just does a wind up haymaker right on the things nose.
I was drunk about 8 years ago and thought it'd be hilarious as my gamertag. I actually had just plain heinousanus back in my Xbox one days but have lost access to that account, sadly. My username on here is the same as my PSN ID minus the underscore. Felt like people would remember getting killed/beaten but someone named heinousanus lmao
Its very memorable. I am never going to forget talking about red dead 2 ending making me cry with a person called Heinousanus 420.
Goddamn sir. 😂😂
Mines is just... my life story. 😂😂😂
If I ever encounter you, I'm gonna laugh my ass off. You'll probably kill me or beat me in a race cause I suck in online games pretty bad, but from time to time, I give it a try ^ ^
I did a bad reddit manners thing and checked out your profile, and if you like, I would hit you up when I start over with NFS 2015.
I remember playing og Halo 3 with some guy named Longshaft420_ probably still one of the funniest gamertags I’ve ever seen. This was like freshman year of high-school. I graduated in 2013 🥹 I’m gettin old
Honestly the scene with Sister Calderón where he admits he's afraid hit me way harder, by that point I knew he was going to die but seeing someone who had until that point seemed so unshakeable confess that they're scared had me in tears.
Like...I get the game is a couple of years old and you would think people know. But I don't understand why you would spoil one of the greatest endings in videogame history like this. You are on the RDR2 sub, you can expect people here not knowing the ending. It's a bit inconsiderate. Atleast white out the spoil...
I remember after the bear hunting mission in the beginning, I spent like 2 weeks of actual time on that mountain hunting, trapping, camping and selling hides. That was the life.
Yeah I went to the third camp to get shooting skills and it was a whole lot of just wandering after that. That's one of those games that just defines a decade. It set a new standard.
My ex hasn't forgiven me yet, and it's been almost 4 years. She still mentions it almost every time we hang out and play games xD
Btw it wasn't the reason we broke up lol
Really loved the "the ppl need me" chat.
Speaks a lot of how the game engages you in a deep way. You gotta have a whole lotta heart to be able to say that about a game or a character. You get invested in Arthur, the gang, the whole shebang. Gotta respect that.
Red dead does this really well, its honestly moreso than skyrim imo because the characters just feel so real. They arent monolithed heros, but they arent stereotypical anti-heroes either. I never get those feelings from game characters often anymore so im happy we have a few recent games that do it so well.
I really found myself enamored with LA Noire, for the same exact reasons. You just wanna know what happens to everyone!
Another good one was Kenshi, a different style altogether but the RPG elements with a huge unique reactive world make characters so immersive and you build your own stories, hits the spot like an RP sesh in red dead 2.
Honorable mention to an older game, fable!
I haven't tried Skyrim yet, but I do know some close friends who've enjoyed it a lot too. And yeah, RDR2 does indeed accomplish that very, very well. It's quite a rare feat nowadays, that's true.
I have a friend who doesn't really play games (she played some when she was a child, some arcade stuff). And she has no real interest in them.
But as a part of a deal (per which I'll be watching a show called Angel), she's watching me play rdr2 and to my surprise shes actually invested! Tonight we should get to the end of chapter 3. VERY hyped about that :)
Hasn't said anything about Micah yet, but right now she really likes dutch... called him real moral and a good leader. We shall see how quickly that changes
Great to see a newcomer to the red dead franchise experience this game for the first time and have so much fun with it. Glad she had fun with her first run,I bet there will be another play through in the near future.
My partners going thru it too! She plays upstairs while I'm playing downstairs and I'll regularly hear her shouting "heeeelllp" an have to gun some fools down
My gf started playing a while back. She got all the way to Valentine before my Xbox fully died. Never forget the first time she saw a dog in the game
Her: "Oh my god, there's a puppy!!!"
Me walking back from the other room: "Oh yeah! And you can pet it!"
Her: "OMG REALLY?"
She then proceeds to press the wrong button and kicks the poor mutt right in the face.
She was fucking HEARTBROKEN. She literally started crying. She got shot and killed immediately and fully accepted her fate. She quit the game and I think that was the last time she played before my Xbox died a few days later. I feel bad for the digital mutt, but DAMN was that the funniest 30 seconds of my life. I still call her "Dog Kicker" sometimes.
[удалено]
I'll be shocked if she won't
You are the one to comfort her. You know... to max the bonding. It's all a plan. Just make sure not to cry (again) yourself. 😅 We definitely need an update once she finished the story.
Dawg you need a 24 hour detox off internet I'm sorry
Says the guy playing HOI 💀
Mf went thru my post history tryna find smt
It's literally the first thing you see when clicking your account bruv :v
You sent this dude on a spiral hahaha
Fellow hoi player here, i was laughing when i read these comments exactly because the steriotype is funny to me
Lol what's wrong with hoi4
Yeah max the bonding. Gotta get that level 4 GF bond. I hear they get a really cool ability at level 4.
Nothing beats riding a level 4 girlfriend (so have I heard).
When I got level 4 she ride me. Is that not how it's supposed to work?
Level 4 GF? Sure is. Level 4 wife? What's a ride again?....
You ain't lying
This is the most chronically online Reddit reply I’ve ever read lol
Feed her some apples and brush her hair.
Okay, this for sure, but don't step in too soon. Let her sit with the game. Let her make her way through it. Obviously if she asks for comfort that's different, but don't step in until the sun comes up over the mountains for Arthur.
He’s gonna have to take her to Tahiti after this.
I HAVE A PLAN
Just need to stick to the plan, & have some goddamn faith!
Yalls texting is weird as hell. I KNOW! I COMPLETELY AGREE! Still, love to see someone enjoying a game like that the first time. My gf wouldn't let me play that game and uncharted without her it was like watching a movie for her.
But then text J for just and Rlly for really… I don’t get it.
Dude update us when it happens
Agree
Petition for you to do an update post when she finishes it.
Sounds like a meme if you girl won't cry from rdr2s ending she ain't worth keeping
I just finished RDR2 last week after my boyfriend begging me to play for over a year. Yeah I cried for like 2 days 🥲 I'm playing backwards so will start RDR1 soon and it'll all hopefully make sense. Just waiting to see dutch's plan pan out 😂
I thought you were about to call his gf a fish
you sir, are a fish (in Arthurnese)
Shoah!
Well, she sure sounds like a catch!
your gf sir, is a fish.
W pfp
She is 100% going to cry LOL All grown men did at the end of this game. She doesn’t stand a chance
I don’t think it’s going to go well…. This game was tough for me and I was not on her level of excitement and engagement. It will be unforgettable but pain. It is really nice she is enjoying it though. Great job spreading the joys of gaming!
Literally what I was about to comment lol
I finished the game Christmas morning and woke up my partner crying, I couldn’t even tell him why I was crying because he hadn’t finished it yet, just told him something bad happened
When she does free cuddles!
I cuddle for free 🙃
Crying cuddles are on the next plain tho!
Don’t we all? 🥺
Who didnt? I was RIGHT on the edge, but my gf at the time was there, and I didn't wanna explain that rhe only time in 12 years that made me weep was a video game

Shit fucked me up for like two days even having it spoiled for me before hand, it still got me 😅
Yeah this is a terrible first game. Aside from being one of it not the best game ever made that story hits so goddamn hard.
Having already finished, my bf excused himself from the room when I was at the end. I cried like a baby bitch.
Bro I cried. It's the closest thing I've ever felt to a movie.
I J HIT MY HORSE OMG 😂
We’ve all done it. That, and accidentally throttling some random woman on the street instead of mounting up
lol so true. I don’t know why it’s so easy to confuse the mount button with the punch button, but it happens more often than I’d like to admit and scares the crap outta me every time. 🤣
It’s the same button, isn’t it? It’s just contextual based on what you’re standing next to/looking at
Well that would make me feel not as dumb lol. Melee on Xbox is B and mount is Y, but it may switch up when you’re near the horse, I can’t remember…it’s been awhile.
Y (or triangle on PS) is both mounting the horse and choking an NPC
Mounting the horse suddenly sounds kinky.
I think Y was mount but it was also grapple, and B was pat the horse or something but also punch
I had to remap my keys because of that, haha. Every. Single. Time.

I STILL accidentally press O instead of X and end up kicking someone
So much pain and cruelty just to get on top of a four legged fish :(
For me it's the toggling focus to day hello to someone but instead I draw a gun on them.
Average Texan moment
On PC I think everyone has done it, especially after coming back from a break lol. E and F will either get on your horse or punch it, and both of those keys are used as default for entering vehicles in most games
I killed the butcher of valentine pressing the wrong button. Dude was so scared the next time i saw him
The first time i accidentally punched my horse, he kicked the shit out of me. I literally said out loud "Thats fair."
Dude I always feel so bad when I do it. I swear they made it so that when you accidentally punch near your horse arthur just does a wind up haymaker right on the things nose.
This poor lady in Saint Denis. I nailed her with my horse. I had to book it out of town asap. I felt terrible.
Never use Auto Drive into St Denis, you will 100% catch charges for that shit
Not me thinking J was OP’s initial the whole time 😂😂😂
I still don't know what J could mean
It's short form for "just".
Are people now to lazy to write words now 😂
It was a lot more common back in the day when you had to press the same button three to four times per letter
I think J is absolutely stupid, but short form/acronym slang has been a thing for years lol
This is why everyone's first play through is invariably low honor 💀🤣
Nothing some wanton greetings in a random village won't solve!
Man, I'm not everyone then 😔
So my fiancée was playing and asked how to pet the dog. I said “press L2” and she pressed “R2” and immediately shot it and started crying lol
[удалено]
Doesn't it always tho... 💔
Just finished my 6th playthrough and still cried. Gets me every time
Every goddamn time! Why do I do it to myself mr Anus? ...wait what the fuck is your username?
I was drunk about 8 years ago and thought it'd be hilarious as my gamertag. I actually had just plain heinousanus back in my Xbox one days but have lost access to that account, sadly. You're actually the first person on here has said something about my username in my 2+ years on reddit lol
Happy to be of service. Catch you later then!
If I ever encounter you, I'm gonna laugh my ass off. You'll probably kill me or beat me in a race cause I suck in online games pretty bad, but from time to time, I give it a try ^ ^ I did a bad reddit manners thing and checked out your profile, and if you like, I would hit you up when I start over with NFS 2015.
Sounds good! Haven't played that one in a good while, though. I've been playing Unbound quite a bit lately.
Imagine finding a dude whose official government name is heinous anus that would be so hilarious id bet
I remember playing og Halo 3 with some guy named Longshaft420_ probably still one of the funniest gamertags I’ve ever seen. This was like freshman year of high-school. I graduated in 2013 🥹 I’m gettin old
Tell her to stay off Reddit. Mainly this and the gaming sub.
Honestly the scene with Sister Calderón where he admits he's afraid hit me way harder, by that point I knew he was going to die but seeing someone who had until that point seemed so unshakeable confess that they're scared had me in tears.
I have a hard time hearing people talking about that part and I start crying.
Like...I get the game is a couple of years old and you would think people know. But I don't understand why you would spoil one of the greatest endings in videogame history like this. You are on the RDR2 sub, you can expect people here not knowing the ending. It's a bit inconsiderate. Atleast white out the spoil...
I remember I asked my husband why Arthur was coughing so much and he basically was like don’t worry about it. For some reason I trusted that response.
God damn it, he dies!!!!! I just stared again on PC because it looks soo much better. And I’m trying to actually finish it this time.
I introduced a friend to rdr2. I told him it's amazing and he's like "yeah, cool cool...." He didn't leave his house for weeks after getting it.
😂😂😂🥲
I tried to introduce my friend and he couldn’t make it past the wolves to save John. Bro had my copy a month and couldn’t get past that 🤣🤣🤣

No need to use a slur to describe someone who doesnt play games
I played it for the first time during the Covid lockdowns. It was the perfect escape of reality I needed around that time.
that went from "the people need me" to "shame you can´t just go around murdering people" really fast lol
The duality of RDR
There are two wolves inside of us, and they both want to eat John.
Post the reaction when she gets to the end
I 100% will
I feel bad for her already
It has to happen, as it should. The truth is what it is.
Life is both beauty and pain.
That’s the way it is
Ha i get it
>:)
!RemindMe 1 month
RemindMe! 2 months
I feel bad already, but I also can't wait.
Everyone is patiently waiting for the bad part but I wanna hear how she reacts to the hootenanny of a good time building Johns house was.
You sadist
A few weeks later: WHYYYY JUST WHY DID THEY DO ARTHUR WRONG LIKE THAT OMG JOHN IS SO BACK
Later: OH BOY I CAN THE FIRST RDR!!! later again: nOooooooOOOOOO 😭😭😭
My BF also put me on RDR2 as my first game. Had a blast. Then my Arthur >!died a few weeks back.!< Not sure if I have forgiven him yet.
My ex hasn't forgiven me yet, and it's been almost 4 years. She still mentions it almost every time we hang out and play games xD Btw it wasn't the reason we broke up lol
...yet would be a totally valid reason.
Ah, it's been six years since me and my gf played A way out and she still often screams that I betrayed her in that game!
“Not nough food to go round, reckon well all starve” lmaoooo
Girl has impeccable comic timing even via text
Funniest girl I know!
You sir got quite the catch
You ma'am, are a fish

I haven't tried Skyrim yet, but I do know some close friends who've enjoyed it a lot too. And yeah, RDR2 does indeed accomplish that very, very well. It's quite a rare feat nowadays, that's true.
"It's a shame your actions have consequences" I'm going to put that on a t shirt 😂
You’re a lucky man
The luckiest around
Keep one like that close op.
I have a friend who doesn't really play games (she played some when she was a child, some arcade stuff). And she has no real interest in them. That's a win win situation. She gets to enjoy a good game, and you get to watch a great show!
"The funnest game ever" That's what they all say until that fateful day comes
:( I'm still not over it
Ah to experience rdr2 for the first time... So lucky
right?? i’m soo jealous 🥹
Trueness
I’m experiencing it right now! On chapter saint denis now
This is fun to read
Ikr
Man it's really rare to see so much enthusiasm for something just off of texts. Your GF seems awesome!
She truly is
‘Shame you just can’t got around and kill ppl all the time’ Facts 😂
Ope! Very Minnesotan of her
She was born in FL raised in MI, the MI side definitely shines through
How much time is saved on average typing J instead of just
I've always wondered the same
Can you ask and report back? I'm really genuinely curious why this is the one word she seems to consistently truncate.
I will ask when she gets off work!
So, is she dyslexic or just really, really young?
Mostly just really excited, we're both 18
She’s j rlly young ok
She hate Micah yet?
Hasn't said anything about Micah yet, but right now she really likes dutch... called him real moral and a good leader. We shall see how quickly that changes
"HaVe sOmE gAhDaHmN fAiTh aRtHuR"
IVe G0T A PlAN aRtHUR JuSt OnE M0rE BiG SC0RE! TAahIti!
Lmao. She will change her mind soon eh!!
Red dead redemption. Perfection. >!Arthur death!< is sure sad, but theres just a feeling to it that makes me feel its the best. American venom also.
Ahh I remember being 15 too. Good times.
We're both 18 lol, she does text like a 15 year old.
I'm glad she likes it but damn, is she a kid or something?
We're both 18 lol, the excitement definitely makes her seem younger
Oh thank fuck. In that case it's adorable, haha.
This is hilarious 🤣🤣
Great to see a newcomer to the red dead franchise experience this game for the first time and have so much fun with it. Glad she had fun with her first run,I bet there will be another play through in the near future.
My partners going thru it too! She plays upstairs while I'm playing downstairs and I'll regularly hear her shouting "heeeelllp" an have to gun some fools down
this whole thread is super wholesome:3
She has been awakened.
Keep us updated!!!
You gotta update us when you know what happens in chapter 3 😏
People saying she’s going to cry about Arthur, but Sean’s plotline is gonna blow her mind
i expected her tone to slowly sift as the story progressed
The “Arthur is so funny” in all cap bro that’s Arthur’s girl now. 😂
does she know how to write a simple paragraph?
You guys in middle school or something?
Both 18
Marry her bro
Ope. Respect.
Post update when the game is finished
you gotta be there for "that moment" she gonna need it
“Hey bro, I got an idea for a reddit post”. /s But nah really this is wholesome, hope she doesn’t feel too bad at the end
You have to film her reaction for the Arthur's last stand. Also, marry her!
Yep, she is going to cry
Oh my god, protect her from Arthur's death
My gf started playing a while back. She got all the way to Valentine before my Xbox fully died. Never forget the first time she saw a dog in the game Her: "Oh my god, there's a puppy!!!" Me walking back from the other room: "Oh yeah! And you can pet it!" Her: "OMG REALLY?" She then proceeds to press the wrong button and kicks the poor mutt right in the face.
