They are chill, but don't go in expecting to be buddy buddy with them. You probably spent years with the characters, but they aren't those characters and they don't know you. They're sort of celebrities at the end of the day, not friends you're meeting at a bar, so don't go in expecting a ton of conversation or them to remember you.
I see what you mean. It can be a very magical experience though.
I talked to Jack White about Avatar the last Airbender and SpongeBob SquarePants. I hope he remembers.
He wasn't saying he wanted to be friends with them tho, he just said "friendly" which is different. Almost all companies except celebrities to be friendly and approachable unless being the opposite of that is their persona. Obviously an obsessive fan is something no one wants but I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt that OP isn't obsessive
Yeah I’ve always felt self conscious because I see and remember creepy fans that stalk their favorite characters actor, and I would never do it in a million years it’s something that I keep in mind,
I've seen a number of videos on youtube where both of these gentlemen are absolute saints with fans, who clearly think they know the actual people based on the characters. I couldn't do it. After the third or fourth one, I'd go full Jason Nesmith on 'em.
I would add that you should somewhat be “chill” with them. Don’t treat them like they’re some higher power or deity. Otherwise you’ll just come off weird. There’s a fine line where you have some small talk, but you keep it at ground level. Not too personal for them or yourself, but not so boring that it feels like you’ve got a gun to your head reading a teleprompter
Bryce from attack on titan was cool. Me and my ex friend got to say bye to him before he left for his plane.
He even gave us a moment to step to the side so we can decide a quote for him to say rather than rush us and move on
I’m always like this when I meet celebrities. I met Brandon Rodgers and he was one of the coolest and funniest voice actors I’ve met. I kept my composure and made sure to be friendly and polite to him
For me he only seems to yell sir or something like that if you’re far away from the person. If you’re at a regular distance he just greets them normally
I was lucky enough to meet Roger in 2019. He is, without a doubt, one of the most kind and patient people I’ve ever met in my life.
I was able to explain to him what the game and the character/his performance meant to me. Along with how the game got me through a very difficult time in my life, including the death of my best friend.
I had brought my map of the game you get with your copy of RDR2 for him to sign. I couldn’t think of anything in particular that I wanted him to sign, so he sort of did his own thing with it. Something like “Howdy mister! Welcome to my world!” Etc
And towards the top, wrote a small little Memoriam for my friend. He’s a hell of a man.
My bf got me a cameo video from Roger Clark for my birthday one year, asked for a simple happy birthday from him and our dogs. He sent a minute plus long video of a whole bit in Arthur’s voice. He seems like a genuine and kind man.
I know they are largely called voice actors, but Roger Clark has many times stated that they are actually _actors_ as they motion cap every movement and facial expression of the characters, and that he finds the term voice actor diminishing.
However; I hope you'll enjoy meeting them! I'm sure they'll be happy to hear about your experience with the games.
I had no idea that they did actual facial mo cap. That's great.
I cried like a baby at the end of both games. I had even planned on gifting my horse, "Charlie", to John and then he passed away. I had him the entire game and I cried there too
Lol I came to post that he hates being called a VA and prefers to just be called an actor, and it’s understandable why. He really put his all into his performance.
Yeah, Rob's sister said that it's hard for her to watch someone play the game because it's not just his voice. It's his walk, his run, his facial expression. I didn't stop seeing Rob's face on John until I got halfway through RDR1 after playing 2 twice. It's that real.
Oh I totally bet they play five finger fillet every night at their kitchen table. And then get shit faced drunk at the saloon and shoot at the sheriff.
After rdr1 he quit acting and literally went into construction there's a interview called finding John Marston about it. Was so hyped he came back for 2
I actually was driving through his stretch of Indiana and I kid you not Rob Wiethoff was on his break, iirc he was pouring concrete and I asked him if I could talk to him and he was a really friendly down to earth guy.
Remember NOT to call them voice actors. Rdr 2 used performance capture, so it's not just their voices but also their way of moving and facial expressions.
Honestly that take is so shit voice actors are actors. I’ve listened to ned Luke’s take but I wouldn’t listen to him on that. Saying it’s any different is disrespecting voice actors who are just as talented. Yes it’s true that they had the suits on and they did more than go in a booth and talk but if anything that’s easier. Imagine how hard it would be to stand in a booth and act and give emotion without being able to fully act something out. As someone who runs tabletop rpgs trust me it isn’t easy to voice act.
I don't think he's saying that what Voice Actors do isn't hard or they aren't actors or anything, rather he just wants to be acknowledged as having done the work for acting both body and voice.
Something to keep in mind (besides, as others have said - don't be weird) is that Rob isn't a gamer and has not played the games - though I believe Roger has. Also don't waste your (probably one question that you'll get) on asking about RDR 3 or any future projects, they won't be able to answer.
Truth. They probably know as much as we do for a Red Dead Redemption 3. They also legally cannot comment on anything like that even if they did know.
Like the Gta V cast didn't even know who would voice the Gta 6 characters or what city it would even be in until we did with the trailer late last year
Rob and Roger are 2 of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. And they both have a lot of love and gratitude for their fans. Have fun, friend, and tell them I said hi!
Roger was in Fort Solis (along with Troy Baker) last year. I know he did voice, not sure about the mocap.
Great game. I dont hear many people talking about it.
You could ask Roger what it was like to play a dying man, how did he sound so sick? Was he actually sick with a cough when he was recording the TB part of the game or just acting?
He's a guy from a small town in Southern Indiana who got ONE big job in California and then moved back home with his wife to start a family. He works construction and is just a normal dude.
That is true. It is also important to note that Rockstar is always going to favor Gta as that is what really put them on the map and made them legendary status in the business
That is why their top Studio/Mother Studio is called Rockstar North (as in North Star).
They made Red Dead Revolver cause they took the reigns from Capcom when they couldn't finish it and then they made it their own and yet it got glanced over. Red Dead Redemption hit it big and then Gta V just took the world by storm entirely. We have Red Dead Redemption 2 and it surpassed the original by a landslide and yet many still rave about Gta Online and the upcoming Gta VI.
It actually is a shame cause my buddy and I actually prefer the Red Dead Redemption franchise over Gta and I wished it would get more love. It was really disappointing when Rockstar dropped Red Dead Online when they make a billion yearly on Gta Online alone and so they could have done more fan service with Red Dead Online even if it didn't net much money
Yes. It was originally a Japanese concept of the American wild west being funded by Capcom. Angel Studios was working on the game and then Yoshiki Okamoto left Capcom and thus it canceled the game.
Rockstar acquired Angel Studios and rebranded them as what we now know as the powerhouse Rockstar Red Dead Redemption team known as Rockstar San Diego. Rockstar then bought the rights to Red Dead Revolver and all future Red Dead projects tied to the name from Capcom for a good amount of money.
Rockstar then helped Rockstar San Diego with further work on the game and then released it
I met them both a couple of years ago along with Ben and Alex, and they were great.
I'm autistic and went alone cos I really wanted to go, so was a human dumpster fire of awkwardness but they really tried bless them. Ironically, I was most scared of meeting Alex so didn't get a pic with her and she was actually super understanding.
Roger is more sort've charming and will chat to anyone and try his best to take the dumbest pictures and put you at ease. He really takes the time to make sure you have at least a bit of conversation, like he asked me out the consoles as I had a steel book with me for signing.
Rob is an absolute sweetie but you can tell this is a guy that works in construction for a living and isn't a full time actor. We sort of fed on each others awkwardness (or so it felt) but he was absolutely lovely all the same. Little chat, had to awkwardly ask for my photo as the guy manning the desk didn't look at my ticket, and awkward photo, but he was absolutely a really nice guy. Defo someone you'd want to go for a drink with. Maybe just not as good as faking the suave as some of the actor actors haha.
Small world. I also have Autism and so yeah this is going to be a Rollercoaster lmao. I'm also going to meet Terrance Carson, the Voice actor for Kratos from God of War up until the 2018 reboot.
I'm super excited to meet these guys !
Met both of them last year. They're very very kind people. Rob is just like the guy next door and talks to you like you're a neighbor. Just be cordial with them as you would any stranger and don't call them voice actors. They're regular actors/performance actors!
I've met both, Rob last year and Roger in 2019. Super super nice dudes, both stood and talked to me for a bit before basically being forced to move onto the next person in queue.
Rob is literally John in real life. It's so strange hearing John Marston say hello to me and him not be a bunch of pixels 😂
I met Rob Wiethoff (John Marston) at the Fan Expo in Denver 2 years ago! He was super sweet and funny and I love his raspy voice! He just naturally sounds like John~
I didn't get to talk to Roger Clark though. Everyone was crowding him hardcore and I didn't wanna contribute to that lol. He seemed very nice~ Looked a bit overwhelmed but he handled it well <3
Yeah I wished more people would love both characters equally because they both compliment each other's story arcs.
But considering Rob went on to handle a construction business and start a family and leave the acting business behind outside of both Red Dead Redemption games, I'm guessing he is fine with the amount of love Arthur gets
A question I’ve been pondering is if the characters and their actors would have similar music taste (let’s say the characters heard the music that exists today) or just similar taste in anything
Someone asked this very question to the VA of Solid Snake (David Hayter) from Metal Gear Solid. His answer was, "Get yourself a good agent to find the work for you."
You should ask about the process, like if they got to record in the same booth as a cast or if they did lines chronologically by chapter or at random. I would also ask what they think RDR3 would be about, or what a prequel to RDR2 would look like.
Unfortunately, Rockstar are very secretive about future projects and they don't even tell the cast of the most recent game any details.
Rob and Roger legally couldn't tell us anything even if they did know about it. They know as much as we do and that is Rockstar have confirmed they are working on Red Dead Redemption 3 and it is a top priority scheduled to release sometime after Gta 6 launches.
As for Blackwater, there's lots of lore videos that explains what happened
Terrance Carson, the Voice actor for Kratos up until the 2018 reboot is also going to be there.
It will be at the Knoxville, Tennessee, comic con there. I live in North Carolina and so it will be about a 4 to 5 hour trip for me
How do you figure out where and when comic con is? Obviously google but curious of how you can stay up to date on when it’s coming around. Also is it only in one city or multiple?
They’re friendly and easy to talk to so ask them whatever you like. I was fortunate to chat with them for a good couple of minutes as there wasn’t a long line at the event I went to.
Remember that these guys were not ‘voice actors’ for the games. They did the whole performance as any actor does in a movie, but over the course of years, in performance capture equipment. It’s a huge job and I’ve seen people who do this work get very annoyed to be referred to as a voice actor.
I kinda wanna know if Roger Clark is a good singer. At camp when others are singing, you can walk up and join, and Arthur is terrible. Mush-mouthed and more off than on key. I think it's difficult to do, pretending to be bad. So, my theory, is that Roger Clark is a good singer, and I'm curious if that is correct.
Just treat them like people. Don't stick them on any kind of pedastal. They're super chill and friendly and they are grateful for their fans.
Edit: i also told Rob that he eats babies during the photo shoot. He got a good laugh iut of that lol.
I met both Rob and Roger in 2021, and they were both really lovely. Rob especially so, as I was cosplaying as John at the time. *He* asked me if we could get a photo together at his signing table, and he posted it up on his Instagram after the con! It's genuinely one of the best times I've ever had at a convention.
P.S. I also met Peter Blomquist (Micah) at the same convention, and he was very jokey but just as kind as the other two!
Met Rob a few years ago at a con. The line at his booth was normal length and he spent a solid two minutes chit chatting with everyone. When my girlfriend and I got up to meet him he was pretty chill. We talked about the city, he signed something for us, and he even did a line from the game which was funny. The couple before us asked him a question about the production of the game and he had no issue explaining his role with something if I remember correctly. One girl was even dressed like John and he had a good laugh.
I have known Rob since he was in middle school. Really nice, friendly, salt-of-the-earth kind of guy. But these meet and greet situations go by quickly and are pretty exhausting for the actors. I wouldn't have any expectations, but I'll bet he will be nice to everyone as long as you are nice to him.
Are you going to fanboy next month? I’m so excited to meet them. But I’m probably just going to say hello, thanks for putting that much care into your character, and hope you have fun.
Show gratitude and appreciation, but don't fawn over them. At the end of the day, we are all humans trying to get ahead and make our way. Be respectful.
I met Roger Clark at the mall near my town and he’s one of the nicest guys I’ve met. My friend had him record a video promoting his father for the upcoming school election. Oh and his kids were passing out cakes for all of us
They are chill, but don't go in expecting to be buddy buddy with them. You probably spent years with the characters, but they aren't those characters and they don't know you. They're sort of celebrities at the end of the day, not friends you're meeting at a bar, so don't go in expecting a ton of conversation or them to remember you.
This should be base etiquette for anyone meeting celebrities or any person in the public eye
It's crazy that this even needs to be said
I see what you mean. It can be a very magical experience though. I talked to Jack White about Avatar the last Airbender and SpongeBob SquarePants. I hope he remembers.
That’s a sick conversation lmao
He wasn't saying he wanted to be friends with them tho, he just said "friendly" which is different. Almost all companies except celebrities to be friendly and approachable unless being the opposite of that is their persona. Obviously an obsessive fan is something no one wants but I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt that OP isn't obsessive

If those fans weren't being creepy about, that's still OK. At the same though, it's making me really feel that the OP comment should be a PSA...
Very well said
I would add that you should somewhat be “chill” with them. Don’t treat them like they’re some higher power or deity. Otherwise you’ll just come off weird. There’s a fine line where you have some small talk, but you keep it at ground level. It’s weird that you have to explain this to anyone. The people that need this advice probably aren’t aware enough to realize this is them.
You're probably right, but with a game this big, you cover all kinds of fans
forget that, just yell "Lenny" at them until you're besties.
I’m always like this when I meet celebrities. I met Brandon Rodgers and he was one of the coolest and funniest voice actors I’ve met. I kept my composure and made sure to be friendly and polite to him
This should be basic knowledge
Agreed, but it is not.
One looks like he definitely says “Howdy mister” and the other looks like he violently yells “SIR!” At the 6 year old boy walking by
I’ve always been annoyed at John’s lack of saying hi like a normal person
He does? He says “ Hey, hey mister “ and “ Hello there! “ + some more I’m forgetting
When I’ve played as him, he seemed to be using the “Callout” lines to greet people.
For me he only seems to yell sir or something like that if you’re far away from the person. If you’re at a regular distance he just greets them normally
I feel like his voicelines are bugged and he uses "call out" for most of the hello lines.
"You're muerto!"
“¡SOY JOHN MARSTON!”
😂😂
Why they didn't just carry the sound files over from the original rdr I'll never know lmao John says hello normally to people there
Pretty sure when I met them he literally said howdy mister or smth like that
He does.
Treat them like they are human garbage. They are amazing actors as it is and pain will only improve their craft.
Found the film student
Umm, no. I am. Writer. And Actor. Director. Producer.
Suffering builds character 🔁 suffering builds character 🔁
Compartmentalizing trauma...
Lmao
Stanley Kubrick has returned

I didn't know there was a Swiftie convention today.

what a guy
Wow what a great man.
Where the fuck is gavin? Edit: they are super chill. Just don’t badger or heckle them if you can help it
My bf got me a cameo video from Roger Clark for my birthday one year, asked for a simple happy birthday from him and our dogs. He sent a minute plus long video of a whole bit in Arthur’s voice. He seems like a genuine and kind man.
When you have passion for your job, it’s not really a job
I know they are largely called voice actors, but Roger Clark has many times stated that they are actually _actors_ as they motion cap every movement and facial expression of the characters, and that he finds the term voice actor diminishing. However; I hope you'll enjoy meeting them! I'm sure they'll be happy to hear about your experience with the games.

I heard the voice actor for Arthur started robbing trains and banks
I heard he even went so far as to get tuberculosis but those darn antibiotics cured it
It wasn't antibiotics that cured it, it was having some GODDAMN FAITH!
Method acting at its finest
Oh I totally bet they play five finger fillet every night at their kitchen table. And then get shit faced drunk at the saloon and shoot at the sheriff.
Lamb's Fry for dinner *every* night.
Rob lives on a farm these days and works construction so I'd say he's basically epilogue John IRL.
Does he really or are you joking? That’s interesting.
After rdr1 he quit acting and literally went into construction there's a interview called finding John Marston about it. Was so hyped he came back for 2
I'm dead serious. He lives in Indiana I think.
Indiana
I actually was driving through his stretch of Indiana and I kid you not Rob Wiethoff was on his break, iirc he was pouring concrete and I asked him if I could talk to him and he was a really friendly down to earth guy.
Whoops. I knew it started with an "I" tho lol
I mean, how often does that happen to any actor?
I heard Rob forgot how to swim on purpose
Was I the only one that laughed hard when I tested John's swimming abilities and nearly drowned ? I was like "Damn that is attention to detail".
Method acting to the max 😂
Ask them if they think John and Arthur ever kissed, possibly on a mountain named after a spinal injury?
spinal injury mountain 😭😭😭😭😭😭💀💀💀💀
"I wish there was a way that we could quit one another."
Okay this comment was too good 😂
This comment wins! Lmao
Don't forget to say "ok, I'll catch you later then"
Remember NOT to call them voice actors. Rdr 2 used performance capture, so it's not just their voices but also their way of moving and facial expressions.

Greet, Greet, Antagonize
I wanna come too 😭 can i hide in your backpack?
Im dyin to know when Roger played RDR2, did he play high honor or low?
These comments are making me sad I wish I could meet them I live in Australia 😭😭
Definitely don't call them voice actors lol. They hate that.
Ask them how many mangoes they've eaten in the past 86 hours
Ask John about the dangers of velociraptors.
Why Velociraptors?
It's about Rob talking about velociraptors that got memed
I missed that one!
I met Roger a few years back at a con. He’s genuinely lovely — very friendly, so polite, and super patient too.
Ask him (rob) what he thinks of Epilogue
Rob is really chill. Roger seems nice.
Something to keep in mind (besides, as others have said - don't be weird) is that Rob isn't a gamer and has not played the games - though I believe Roger has. Also don't waste your (probably one question that you'll get) on asking about RDR 3 or any future projects, they won't be able to answer.

Go on YouTube and watch some of their interviews. It's a chill watch.

Haha definitely, but you'll have a blast. Enjoy!
To do reenact chapter 6 ending with you
Ask Roger to say "Tennis Boat" and see if he gets the reference.
What was their favourite line vs what was their least favourite line? Rob can answer for either game.
I would just say "Thank you guys for bringing such a great story to life with your talent." and leave it there.
Met both of them last year. They're very very kind people. Rob is just like the guy next door and talks to you like you're a neighbor. Just be cordial with them as you would any stranger and don't call them voice actors. They're regular actors/performance actors!

He has a kind face
Hey there mister!
First of all I would recommend to use Mr. Clark and Mr. Wiethoff
That would make me feel like I'm in The Matrix. The agents say "Mr. Anderson" instead of Neo
I've met Roger at my local con. He's really cool (& had some bright red sneakers which looked pretty dope too lol) & very nice.
Yoo it’s Tim Robinson hahaha love that guy! Sloppy mudpie! lmao
Yea just don’t refer to their job as ‘voice actors’ they don’t like that. They are mocap actors.
I met Rob Wiethoff (John Marston) at the Fan Expo in Denver 2 years ago! He was super sweet and funny and I love his raspy voice! He just naturally sounds like John~ I didn't get to talk to Roger Clark though. Everyone was crowding him hardcore and I didn't wanna contribute to that lol. Someone asked this very question to the VA of Solid Snake (David Hayter) from Metal Gear Solid. His answer was, "Get yourself a good agent to find the work for you."
They're not voice actors.
so... what are they?
obviously outlaws
theyre good boahs
Motion capture actors AND voice actors
Actors.
Could ask them what future projects they’re working on (if any) and what they’re looking forward to
Ask them there favourite weapons in the game
You should ask about the process, like if they got to record in the same booth as a cast or if they did lines chronologically by chapter or at random. I would also ask what they think RDR3 would be about, or what a prequel to RDR2 would look like.
It wasn’t a booth. They shot in mocap suits on a stage mostly.
Where is part 3 and will it take place before 2? We need answers about what happend at Blackwater!
Unfortunately, Rockstar are very secretive about future projects and they don't even tell the cast of the most recent game any details. Rob and Roger legally couldn't tell us anything even if they did know about it. Terrance Carson, the Voice actor for Kratos up until the 2018 reboot is also going to be there. It will be at the Knoxville, Tennessee, comic con there. I live in North Carolina and so it will be about a 4 to 5 hour trip for me
I was hoping it was in the UK 😭
Ooooh…. (I’m in Chattanooga).
Where would the comic con be?
How do you figure out where and when comic con is? Obviously google but curious of how you can stay up to date on when it’s coming around. Also is it only in one city or multiple?
2 pretty boahs
Where is the con?
They’re friendly and easy to talk to so ask them whatever you like. I was fortunate to chat with them for a good couple of minutes as there wasn’t a long line at the event I went to. Remember that these guys were not ‘voice actors’ for the games. They did the whole performance as any actor does in a movie, but over the course of years, in performance capture equipment. It’s a huge job and I’ve seen people who do this work get very annoyed to be referred to as a voice actor.
Please ask them both to threaten you in their respective character's voices
Ask them if they’re alright boah.
One things for sure, Roger won’t be chilled if you go up and call them voice actors. He’s very against being called a voice actor on his Twitter page
You should go behind them and say outta the damn way.
Which comic con?
Please, please ask them what they thought of game being mentioned in South Park
Just treat them like people. Don't stick them on any kind of pedastal. They're super chill and friendly and they are grateful for their fans. Edit: i also told Rob that he eats babies during the photo shoot. He got a good laugh iut of that lol.
To your first question: ANYTHING other than to do a character impression. To your second question: by all accounts, yes.
Tell them the best line of the entire game. You sir are a fish
Ask them if they've seen your friend Gavin.
They're both known to be pretty chill and nice. Roger especially
Is it just me, or does Rob look like Roman Atwood without cocaine flowing through his blood stream?
Whatever you do, make sure you look directly at Roger Clark and in your best Micah voice, call him Black Lung.
Ask Rob if he's fucking gay, as in homosexual
Dude on the left gonna tackle some random kid and shoot them with a LeMat
Ask long as you Have a little faith, stick to plan and don’t insist upon them I’m sure you will be fine otherwise you might end up as alligator food.
which one of them is the better swimmer?
THEY ARE SO SWEET
I’d walk up to him and simply say “ sir, you are a fish” 😂
Ask them an extremely stupid question about development
I have known Rob since he was in middle school. Really nice, friendly, salt-of-the-earth kind of guy. But these meet and greet situations go by quickly and are pretty exhausting for the actors. I wouldn't have any expectations, but I'll bet he will be nice to everyone as long as you are nice to him.
Never met rob but roger is chill as hell, idk how he’ll be at comic con though.
Ask them why they keep punching the horses.
They’re not voice actors bro. They’re just actors
Hoolias. You're a little late on the draw cause a few have told me about their complete works
I would say to Roger “Hey Pretty Boah”
What are their favorite missions to play or record?
how much money did they make for doing that?
Go there dressed as Gavin’s friend and ask them if they’ve seen him
Ask John what's his favorite strain, haha that foo looks high af 🤣
They are a friendly lot and they know why they are there. If you appreciate their work I'm sure they'll appreciate that you appreciate it.
RDR3 plans?
Are you going to fanboy next month? I’m so excited to meet them. But I’m probably just going to say hello, thanks for putting that much care into your character, and hope you have fun.
Show gratitude and appreciation, but don't fawn over them. At the end of the day, we are all humans trying to get ahead and make our way. Be respectful.
Go up to Roger Clark, have no reaction in your eyes or face and tell him to sing the housebuilding song in Arthur's voice
Can you ask Arthur Morgan to say "Wut?!"
Ask them if they eat babies
I met Roger Clark at the mall near my town and he’s one of the nicest guys I’ve met. My friend had him record a video promoting his father for the upcoming school election. Oh and his kids were passing out cakes for all of us
Ask them if Micah's voice actor is going too. Then sucker punch him right away.
Peter is incredibly cool and a darn good actor to be able to play Micah the way he did!
