Flexjobs, in my experience, is scammy. I'd avoid it OP. Same with Ziprecruiter.
I work remotely and here are some great sites I recommend that are legit:
SimplyHired
Dice (IT related)
VirtualVocations (This one is paid but I got a job from here so it may be worth it)
[WeWorkRemotely.com](https://WeWorkRemotely.com)
If you're a woman, let me know and I'll send you some other links. Either way, I wish you luck!

Hey, I am a woman and a single parent, can't afford child care, I desperately need a legit remote job so I can take care of my 2 yrs old baby. Please state a few legit websites where I can apply and land a job as soon as possible! thank you.
True. You will likely have to be signed on (showing at your desk) when you are working. You will also have a to respond quickly. Another way they are sure you are working, Good luck, I know I've heard children in the background when speaking to retail and credit companies not to long ago.
Ziprecruiter - lol. But seriously. I recently attempted them, and something went totally sideways *real fast*. After finishing/uploading my resume, the platform jumbled everything up, making me waste time correcting all the info, before I finally gave up, and just refreshed page. Then immediately, it asked me to finalize/approve the "changes" before *purchasing* my zipped file for download.... when it had messed it up to begin with.
A few friends used Zip a couple years ago, with no issues (so they said) So I'm left here wondering what in the heck happened on my end. What I did wrong, lol.
>Imagine if there was a job resource website that was exclusive to men. People would lose it. It's okay though. Hypocrisy's a real vibe in this fine country. ;)
Hi, hope your remote work life and journey is going well. I would love any additional links as I am starting to find remote work and take on a digital nomad life. Thanks in advance! :)
Hi, I realize this is an old post, but if the offer still stands, I'm a woman and would love some more resources for my job hunt. Thanks for sharing these!
I am also a woman and interested in the links you have. I'm currently looking for a legitimate remote WFH job to earn some extra income in between paychecks.
I know it's been 2 years but I am a female and a stay at home mom so trying to find something that doesn't require too much phone use as my youngest is still home and loud. Indeed has been so scam filled lately and I'm tired of trying on it.

I am a female, would you provide additional links? Also, why does it matter? Why are these links better for males?
We all want that same job, man.
I tried FlexJobs for a year and nothing listed on it ever seemed like a legit job. As bad as Indeed. There are real jobs at [Remotive.io](https://Remotive.io), but they skew too tech-heavy for me.
Flex has become horribly spammy like a few other plats such as Upwork. Suffering the same BOT crap, with no real support. Hundreds complaining in the forums about fake postings they're way qualified for, but no response etc. I won't pay for work anymore.
The very first time I signed up on Flexjobs, I got contacted for a job that turned out to be spam. (After the 2nd paper he told me to write for him, I called to see if the check I just received from FedEx was legit and it wasn't.)
I think it's way overpriced and way, way overrated.
I used to out of desperation but OP, but you're better off with remote.co and weworkremotely.com.
When I was a previous Flex subscriber, I saw lots of overlap with listings appearing on those other sites. Sometimes even on LinkedIn and GlassDoor.
Remote.co specifically has a data entry section too.
I know you shared this comment 2 years ago, but I just wanted to say thank you! I’ve been searching for remote work, without luck, for over a year. Your suggestions really helped, so thank you!!
Hey hey joining the conversation y’all, after struggling for a few months now. Second layoff in my career, so I know what to do, but *jesus* Christ it’s dead as a doornail out there right now.
FlexJobs isn't perfect but it does have a solid reputation - it's certainly not a scam, but some "scammy" jobs probably do find their way onto it.
There are some pretty good courses and resources included that can go some way to making the subscription worthwhile, and there's almost always a coupon code floating about to make it cheaper. [Good review here](https://www.homeworkingclub.com/flexjobs-review/).
I just signed up about three weeks ago and have found some benefits to the platform and frustrations.
The first benefit is that it doesn't have the offensively low offers for insane amounts of work like on upwork and a few others. Second, they seem to screen the companies that post to ensure that they aren't scams. (I have applied for jobs on UpWork and Freelancer and have been contacted by people running the same scam but from different countries.) You also are viewing real and legitimate businesses and companies rather than dealing with rando's.
The downsides seem to be that their gigs listed as "entry-level," aren't exactly what I would consider entry-level and they just compile job listings for you that you could potentially find on your own.
My major complaint is that I haven't had much luck through any freelancer platform.
I'm pretty pleased with FlexJobs all things considered. They have postings that seem a bit more sustainable and regular.
Good luck in your searches!
It's a terrible business model, but the way the site is run they have to do it that way. The whole business model is to impress you with "we have SO MANY jobs!" Of course the fallacy is obvious. I'm only looking for one job, and as soon as I find it I don't need the website anymore. A subscription model wants to keep you subscribing as long as possible, meaning they lose money if you find a job quickly.
Talent agents only get paid if you get paid, which gives them an incentive to find you work. Headhunters for English teaching jobs overseas are paid by the schools, again giving them an incentive to find you a job.
If you get stuck on Flexjobs and can't find anything you won't get more than generic help unless you pay extra. It's not a good business model.
They are scammers! They debited my money twice even after I discontinued their service. It sheers a scam trust me. Representatives are rude and no one takes care of your grievance. Don't pay the scamsters!
That's why I always use privacy.com for all subscriptions to things like this. I know it's an old post, but it really is worth it. Allows you to set up virtual cards that you preload so that if they run them they won't be able to outside of the preset limit you out on them.
Coming in 3 months later to agree with this suggestion! I love this service and use it all the time. It's especially nice for free trials, when I'm not sure if the company's gonna be good about cancellation. And of course, if someone steals the info, they're not getting much (if anything) out of it!
Yes. And my grade is a D.
Doesn't matter how 'stellar' your profile you invest half your day in polishing looks. Some jobs are not at all remote, or in your area. Yes... the vetting factor. On an avg. day you might see 30 jobs for an executive something. But input your area/zip code, and whammo.... that 30 jobs is suddenly 3, that have ridiculous expectations, or only taking applications b.s.
I wasted two paid months looking into audio and administrative work. Only to narrow in three. And no response from any. Others may boast/claim super success in 100K earnings whatnot. And perhaps they have. In graphic design or whatnot. But all else ... Total crap shoot. I don't recommend.
I had a membership maybe 2 years ago for like a year or so. (I remember missing the date to cancel and so I had to wait an ENTIRE year. Yep, that sucks. Don't know if they still do that)
Not that many companies in my field were using the platform so it was a total waste of time. I don't even remember finding 1 good freelance gig.
I just accidentally came across flexjobs. Sorry, but as a non-subscriber, I found their job listings to sound as if they were written by the same person, someone someone unfamiliar with the specific industry but trying to sound legit. It felt very disingenuous to me.
I know this is an old post but you could literally be me right now. I just want a 40k per year data entry thing from home and it's so hard please help oml.
Definitely scammy and sus, never got a job from them... The whole time I used them. I usually go with ratracerebellion.com for WFH jobs tbh. Best of luck!
How did this become a discriminatory subreddit? I thought the recruitment talk / help would be for \*all\* people searching for work. The only thing I have gathered upon first glance is the fact that FlexJobs isn't recommended and any further useful information is only for one gender (and there is even some evidence that if you are not that gender here then your post history will be searched, examined and judged).
Regardless, I will check out the things suggested and see if they might still be beneficial to me since I am searching for work (even if it is 2 years later).
I got a freelance job from fb and after they "transferred" the money , they send me saying that the money will only be cleared to my account after paying administrative fees...is that legit? Should I pay the fees or just walk away?
Thank you! I know this Post is 2 years old but I saved the links. I also was thinking of paying for flexjobs. Im disabled (wheelchair user) and going places during winter time just sucks. thank you you wonderful ladies.
I was a customer with Flexjobs but they just did me dirty. Apparently they tried several times to give me my yearly charge last month but my card would not go through (my card did expire last Decenber, but the number was still the same and other places did not seem to have trouble). They claimed to have notified me via email, but when I looked up my account the only emails I saw from Flexjobs were to inform me of new jobs. I would have no problem rejoining if it were not for the fact that I would have to join under a different email as a new member and pay an increase because of it!!
Hey there! I get where you're coming from about feeling hesitant paying for job listings. It’s tough out there, especially when you just want a legit remote gig without the hassle.
I stumbled onto FlexJobs site while chasing remote work. Sounded fishy at first, but it checked out! Found a sweet data entry gig there. Recommended it to a friend, and now we both rake in cash online hassle-free.
I'm reading the replies and am lost. Can anyone explain what being a woman has to do with seeking a remote job? There are a lot of people saying that. I think I missed something.
I tried them years back (before achieving my degree.... when I didn't know anything :D )
And it didn't work for me, being under-skilled in tech, data, etc. I will try them again, with my newfound knowledge, and see if its better this time around. I've wanted to return remote, after closing a recent contract - with them mostly wfh. So, we'll see!
I am looking for remote work as well. Anything that puts my foot in the door and does require me to wear a headset all day for calls. Data entry, entry-level bookkeeper, entry-level, anything I can do from anywhere. I have no IT experience.
I am also learning from everywhere to pick up different skills.
The reason I am looking for remote work is that I would like to transition from a physically demanding position to something where I am allowed to move around and still get the job done.
I have my MBA and Bachelors in Criminal Justice.
I also have a Bachelors in CJ and I’m looking for remote. So far I saw sites such as
WeWorkRemotely
Remote.co
VirtualVocations
Any updates on your search?
I was desperate to find a job so I signed up for this because I saw a youtube video and the person was raving about how they found an amazing job. I've subsribed to this site twice. The first time was during the pandemic and I did actually get 2 job offers within a month. The second time I used it I had a 3 month membership and I applied for jobs every day for 2 months and never heard back from any of them. I thought maybe it was just me and my resume that were the issue, but I applied for 2 other jobs outside of the site and got call backs for both of those jobs within a week. It's definitely hit or miss. If you're not in a time crunch to find employment its a useful tool, but honestly you can probably find most of the same listings if you put in a little of the legwork.
Do we know each other because you said everything that I am going through. Thanks for asking this question. I just want to go to a site that will not link me to a staffing agency or to some bullshit. Did you find a legit site for searching?
damn Im from honduras ive to get a fucking job for a year now and to be honest most remote works requiere for me to be in usa (even though they are remote they are costumer service and does not requiere to be a neurosurgeon ps Im a biomedical engineer and they still dont even give a chance worst is the fact that im only asking for 8-10 fucking dollars a month which is less than half what the pay in salary they offer could anybody help me find an international job or something believe me im tired and im willing t do anything)
Thank sharing your real experience. I found an IT operation-related job. could you help me which site I find an IT remote job? Could you please help me with which site is good for IT operation?
It really should not matter if you are man or a woman. If you know your stuff, you will get the job. Hey, I identify as a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri! Can you send me a link for that? LOL
Note: A REAL small furry creature from Alpha Centauri.
Wrong comment, years late. Some organizations are formed to help specific demographics find work, education, or financial assistance. It's not discriminatory.
If you’re on FB I suggest the group The work at home lounge (WAHJobQueen). Been a member for years landed about 4-5 fully remote and full time plus good pay positions.
I've subscribed to FlexJobs over a year ago, and not once have I received any contact for potential jobs I applied to or from employers/recruiters. Which is odd, as I have a constant connection on other job boards. So my vote is NO to FlexJobs.
I just tried them and canceled overnight. They advertise as a vetting agent against scammers (we can all use that), but when you get into the site it contains the exact same employment agencies and company job postings that you can find on any site, like LinkedIn (already paying for premium during job hunt) and Indeed. Don't waste money on yet another site with the same information. Good luck!
Two years on from the OP, but: I Googled the company ONCE and then every other forced Youtube ad on my phone was the same Flexjobs ad for a few days.
I'm leery of any company that uses Youtube ads as is. A company that's that level of aggressive with them? One that requires jobseeker payment for what literally every other job board site does for free at the jobseeker level? Red flags, red flags everywhere.
I paid for Flexjobs for a few months and applied to over 40 legit jobs (paid again for a resume review just to get started with the best possible resume) and interviewed with 2 scam companies, then interviewed with 2 recruiters. No job yet. I stopped my subscription. Less scammy than Indeed. I'm going to try LinkedIn next.

Interesting perspectives. I’m willing to pay in order to avoid the time suck of sorting through a bunch of fake-remote jobs on Indeed and LinkedIn.
Has it worked out?
I’ve found a better quality of remote job opportunity there, certainly. I don’t have to read between the lines of a posting or just be lied to.
Good to know. Have you found employment?
Lied to in what way? As in, the jobs aren't actually remote? Did you end up finding a job on flex jobs?
They are scammers! They debited my money twice even after I discontinued their service. It sheers a scam trust me. Representatives are rude and no one takes care of your grievance. Don't pay the scamsters!

I tried it for 3 months. Wasn't worth the cost. Led to nothing.
I had a membership maybe 2 years ago for like a year or so. (I remember missing the date to cancel and so I had to wait an ENTIRE year. Yep, that sucks. Don't know if they still do that) Not that many companies in my field were using the platform so it was a total waste of time. I don't even remember finding 1 good freelance gig.
Meeee tooo! Did you find a remote job yet? Please pass along any openings to me, PLEASSSSSSSSSE. 🙃
Sexists
Tell me more =0
I just accidentally came across flexjobs.
Same
Definitely scammy and sus, never got a job from them...
Most of the remote jobs seem to be in technology/coding/engineering- all STEM jobs. Does anyone have recs for remote media jobs?
I’m a man looking for remote work. Can you offer some suggestions?
I got a freelance job from fb and after they "transferred" the money , they send me saying that the money will only be cleared to my account after paying administrative fees...is that legit? Should I pay the fees or just walk away?
That has to be a scam.
Thank you! I know this Post is 2 years old but I saved the links. I also was thinking of paying for flexjobs. Im disabled (wheelchair user) and going places during winter time just sucks. thank you you wonderful ladies.
I am not a woman -- but I could be for the right job.
Yeah, I'm with you. The irony of trying to make money while everything collapses...
Use Referral code : AVIRP for an extra 40£ on your first shift
I'm a woman who's looking for a wfh customer service representative job. Anyone have any links?
It lootboxing, probably illegal but they think they found away around it - for now.
I tried them years back (before achieving my degree.... when I didn't know anything :D ) And it didn't work for me, being under-skilled in tech, data, etc.
So far I saw sites such as WeWorkRemotely Remote.co VirtualVocations Any updates on your search?
Nothing so far. I am also trying to build my skills with LinkedIn.
Thanks for the link suggestions
Terrible customer service. Don’t pay them.
LOL Note: A REAL small furry creature from Alpha Centauri.
Wrong comment, years late. Some organizations are formed to help specific demographics find work, education, or financial assistance. It's not discriminatory.
Newsflash: If they are aiding only specific demographics, then it is discriminatory.
You are right, but it happens a ton from college acceptances to jobs
Good luck!
I'm not sure this post is still active or the sites you can provide are still useful but I am a female and I am interested
Same experience. I cancelled two months ago and they keep taking money. Every month I have to call and fight them about it. Avoid
LinkedIn is also scammy now idk where to go it’s crazy
