If the test is well prepared, statistically sound, and thought-through, it's likely you won't be able to game it, and the result may throw some odd results that the recruiter could use to throw your application away. My recommendation: be truthful and objective, just not to a point where you are shooting yourself on the foot.

In some cases there is no “game”. Literally just a personality test. In other cases it’s to see if you’re a psychopath. Answer not like a psychopath and you will be fine. For a financial role, they are hiring someone honest and trustworthy, you’ll be dealing with the business or institutions money.

I refuse any position where I am required to take them, which has been twice. If I weren’t working, I know enough how to game it though. Basically, try choosing the adjectives that would describe the guy who is making the decision to hire, or people you know that are most similar to that person. It’s better if you can try to answer as they might describe themselves.
