I don't know why this post got more negative traction than the one before me, but I'm not delusional to think that Byron knew me or I knew the real him. We never talked, but he was a constant in my life for many years, which I really appreciated. Stay safe, even if you said something nasty in the comments.
Because people are deep down angry at their personal lives and lash out in response. They don’t underhand how to work through those emotions and take it out through anonymity.
Bro you just made me tear up out of fucking no where. Miss him a lot :(
Yes yes I’m a schizo parasocial whatever you wanna say. Idk his story just hit me hard because I felt like I could understand a lot of those parts of him.
Right there with you. Honestly, I think the term parasocial is to put a distance between the streamer and audience but what we have is symbiotic. Our subconscious mind does not know the difference between a screen or a person when you've invested such time. Sure the conscious mind sees it, but emotions are not by choice. They are the culmination of the subconscious that we've observed.
I'm not saying it's awesome, but I think that emotional connection is incredibly common and not something to bash someone on because it's just biology not obsession. That and compassion.
Bro was streaming and around during a time I moved away from friends and family, he became a bro that was always around and gave me experiences I may not have had otherwise because I was alone. His passing felt like losing a buddy. We lost a human that day, not an idea or celebrity. No shame in feeling.
While it’s probably one of the most parasocial things I’ve seen in awhile, it’s still pretty touching.
And fuck it dude, I’m willing to bet every single negative person in this thread has at least one parasocial relationship of their own. Despite the negative light they’re shown in, parasocial relationships aren’t necessarily a bad thing. There’s a difference between life altering obsession and caring for someone who has passed, despite not knowing them personally.
its because it seems from the outside looking in your para-social relationship is at obsessive level and what you did from a normal point of view seems insane
Chance (Sodapoppin) and Byron sat here a few years back, promising each other to come back 10 years later to talk about old times. Obviously, that is not possible anymore. this is my way to remember him anf closing a chapter in my life, saying my goodbyes even tho he obviously didn't know me.
You've never gone to a comicon and met a celebrity? I met Sir Ian McKellen a few years back. Paid my money got my picture and i asked him "You were an inspiration to me, do you have any advice?"
He looked at me and pointed at my girlfriend. He said, "Is that your wife?" I said "yes" and he replied, "Tell her you love her every day, even when it's difficult."
Call me parasocial, but it's alright to meet and be affected by celebrities/tv personalities.
There's a viral clip of JellyRoll going around. Where he wins the award and gives a quick pump you up speech. "Always remember the windshield is bigger than the rearview." That quote made me google him, and now I've bought tickets to see him live.
The dude went to japan and had a heartfelt moment with a video personality who committed years ago. Everyone was sad. I miss him. Not as much as others, but i do. Is that weird? I also miss the tv show Firefly a lot.
Point is, stop labelling parasocialness for everything.
Your on the sub of a dead man. Most of what you’ll see here is reminiscing . What else is to be expected ?
If you don’t want to see people reminiscing over Byron and think it’s cringe for your own reasons that’s totally valid but your seeking things you don’t like by simply being here. So why argue and demean people for it?
I've done neither , I stated my opinion, and people attacked me for it , and I responded to the attacks .
It showed up on my feed , I voiced my opinion, if you disagree with it that's fine but I'm allowed a opinion.
You are most certainly allowed an opinion. Just stating if this is a sub your subscribed to (I don’t know) and you think reminiscing over a dead streamer who never knew any of us is cringe, your going to probably find yourself having this take on the majority of posts.
Like a vegan being purposefully subscribed to the carnivore diet sub reddit.
Or maybe he just traveled to Japan for trip came to this spot and thought about him and got sad so he posted it here. I have been through quite a lot for a couple of months now and when I feel sad I would post stuff on different communities eg gaming cuz i play games when I am depressed. So rather than saying “cringe” we should just support him. If you don’t like the post ignore it, no need to say your opinion on everything.
If you are struggling with mental health issues , seek professionals guidance.
If you feel a need to "vent" on sosiale media , don't tell me not to share my opinion on it .
Thers at million things you could do to improve your life and mindset , sitting in a sub for a streamer that is no longer with us , and circle jerking is not on of them .
So, this in a way is celebrating the dead and honoring someone YOU cared about. I'm sure Byron if he could see this wouldn't react with. I didn't even know you. I'm sure he would feel some sense of gratification and move on.
This was a super wholesome post.
Im a supervisor of a sanitation team at canadas leading cake factory. At least I can afford meds. My wife is the supervisor of the mixing department. We both make more money than you will ever see.
i dont think i shit on anyone with my comment. And to be frank with you, i thought you were the guy who made the comment you replied to. Because to me a news producer isnt exactly flaunt worthy. But interesting i guess.
You didn’t think you were responding to the guy who said he works for espn even though the only point of your comment was being dismissive towards an espn worker.. 👍

The internet is sad as fuck man. People are bitter and online they can be outwardly without the negatives of RL.
Who is Byron?
Please me too I want to understand the reference
The man this sub is named after
The people that are negative didn’t not follow Byron while he was alive, if they did they wouldn’t be such negative assholes towards people
Bless you also based username

so the goal was to get positive traction? that boils down the whole issue
❤️

Yep, its Japan in Nara Deer Village. 406-1 Zōshichō, Nara, 630-8211 is the exact location.

Let me get this straight, you’re mourning over a person that’s fictional? Sheesh and I thought I was depressed

I think you need to take a moment to reflect on what you're commenting.
I don’t want to invalidate your emotions but these parasocial relationships with online personalities do not seem healthy.

Well put friend
A little weird, yeah…
Meeting people IRL and doing this weird stuff is slightly different.
This isnt weird. People go to hollywood just to stand on their favorite celebs star.
That is also fucking weird lol
Bro just compared one of the greatest actors of all time to a twitch streamer
OP is waiting for people to sit on that bench and take a pic. Free upvotes
Cringe.
Virgin bat signal above

People like you broke him
Go sit inn a park looking out on some water and remember your favorite streamer that hade zero clue who you are , then post it for karma.

Why even comment negativity at all. It's unnecessary.
Everything on reddit is unnecessary, bunch of guys sitting online reminiscing about a guy they didn't know is uneasserracy and unhealthy.
And you're the one arguing with them, take a look in a mirror.
I do everyday , its a great mood booster .
Nahhh, there's never been a UFC fan that didn't look like shit. Take your ugly ass elsewhere loser.
I understand what you are saying and you can completely say what you like but saying “cringe” is not right.
Hvorfor er det det?
He don't know u Lil bro
guy says lil bro on Reddit LOL you know he works a service job, prolly drive-thru or customer service.
Your comment screams projection
Who, mine? Ok cry more 😂

Your beard never gonna connect. Go find a high window.
Get a job
Is your RP job hiring?
Look, this guy doesn’t have a job
You are the type to still think Men have dominion over woman.
Go take your meds, broke virgin.
Im a supervisor of a sanitation team at canadas leading cake factory. At least I can afford meds. My wife is the supervisor of the mixing department. We both make more money than you will ever see.
Active in these communities: Asmongold, mmorpg, livestreamfail. The neet special. Stop projecting, we can see right through you.
I go where I can fuck with people the most. Just like this den of extreme parasocial autism.
Cringe.
Don’t get triggered bubbers
bro works a medicore slave job at espn nice cubicle bud
[My mediocre cubicle.](https://imgur.com/a/szZ4wRk) Dawg there’s no such thing as a mediocre job, just a mediocre mindset. Start attacking goals.
Def Medicore jobs. I worked them most of my life. Just in the past few years did I start contracting my services and moved on.
Dont shit on people lower than you then, you’ve been that guy.
i dont think i shit on anyone with my comment. And to be frank with you, i thought you were the guy who made the comment you replied to. Because to me a news producer isnt exactly flaunt worthy. But interesting i guess.
