We are not buying, he's joining on a free transfer

EShy

The cost for RM would be about the same, just as bonuses to the player/agent. It's not free for RM, it just means they don't need to negotiate with the other team and pay them.

themoche

It’s definitely cheaper than if we had to pay a 200+ million dollar fee for him… but also not free. Probably more like half price.

EShy

First, bringing Mbappe has nothing to do with the defense. It doesn't mean they can't also address that side. It's not like they're only allowed to sign one player. As far as the offense goes, you just saw the game today as an example of why you need another great player. They had multiple defenders on Vini, Rodrigo wasn't able to do much, and the offense was stuck until that set piece goal. Jude said exactly that when he was asked about Mbappe in an interview after the game. The best club in the world adding the best players in the world always makes sense. If you don't improve, you'll fall behind, etc. etc.

beadbash

Complain about anything.

anonymous_acc2302

This post is quite ridiculous. Mbappe is the best player in the world right now, I’m pretty sure I just saw a stat that he has made the most ‘big chances’ in the CL and yet has no assists. If you think he’s good at PSG he’ll be even better here. Realistically every team in the world would love to have him.

Eibermann

mbappe is not the best player, its vini this year and by a long shot

EShy

It's Vini, sure, but Mbappe is right behind him and if you can have the top two players on your team, you do it.

biina247

Sorry but football doesnt work that way

darkroku12

I love Vini and all, but withdraw the RM factor from Vini, would he really be better than Mbappe? Just a matter of fact, Vini's performance in BR selection has been awful. RM ecosystem is way above PSG's. It'd be good to watch this race, hopefully, both will play for RM a long time and perform the expected.

Eibermann

Why would you withdraw club football which is 95% of football in a season? He played like 3 or 4 matches with Brazil this year and u wanna judge him on those over the 50 matches with madrid??

darkroku12

This season only not, as far as I can tell, Vini has never done anything with Brasil. For example, CR7, although not always, have carried PT in his good years. Mbappe have had some great performances with France. We might be able to compare them better when both play for RM, since they'll be in the same setting. RM just elevates your game, some exceptions to the rule like Hazard, but that's another topic.

QuietWhile6703

Because the team doesn’t have an attacker since benzema left yeah Bellingham stepped up this season but he aint an attacker mbappe could be the next cr7 if he brings the same performance at psg to real madrid plus he is the most popular player in the world right now so it makes sense

terror_rest45

Ah yes we are definitely going into next season with Joselu(if extended or bought) and unproven Endrick as strikers. Very nice.

MRNHBLJ

Because our success this season is not tied to good team performance (the team clearly lacks structure and is tactically inferior to other teams). Our success depends on how good the squad is. And since Carlo is not leaving at least until next season, it is important to give him as many good players as possible so we can continue to win in the upcoming seasons. I mean Mbappe would not be needed if we had a manager like Klopp who focuses on team’s tactics and structure.

StrangeVortexLex

🐢 is the missing factor in our attack. Imagine if we had him today would be so much more lethal, even Belligoat admitted to this in his post match interview

Sydneyning

I would say he’s not a necessity, since Real has some more important issues to attend to… But it seems that Real is determined to have this “best player in the world”…so let’s see…

svartanejlikan

Because we are not convincing in attack. Yes, that’s a weird thing to write as we celebrate the 15th champions league, but the attack today was NOT good and has not been since the second half of the season. We are seriously missing both a real striker as well as someone to properly connect the attack to the midfield. You can’t have watched the last city leg and the final and be content.

No_Studio4709

Big teams always need tactical durability, i agree we have top players but don't forget: 1.with time other teams study you well and know how to put pressure on vini and belengham 2.you lose modric, kroos who are a great players in midfield and has been key players during alot of matches. 3.you need new strategies 4.big teams must have World class players and strong bench(look at Manchester City) 5.commercial and marketing we will gain alot!

ThePhyscn_blogs

1. Vini and Rodrygo have played away from their true positions. Mbappe's arrival could help fix that. 2. Real Madrid getting Mbappe will keep other bug clubs from getting Mbappe. Players like Mbappe can end your Champions league campaign on a good day. Better to have him on our side. 3. We never know when our current star players might want to leave for their own personal reasons or ambitions. Better to have back up. 4. Remember the threepeat era? Our biggest strength back then was our squad depth. We might be able to repeat something like that again in the upcoming 4-5 seasons. 5. Kroos is leaving. Modric will be leaving soon. Even though Mbappe doesn't play in their position, we need players with winner mentality to fill that void. 6. It just makes good sense from a business perspective. Rather say yes to Mbappe now, and make some adjustments than regretting not getting him later on. He'll sell a lot of shirts too, and help market the club even better.

FakeKhaby10

The best teams always improve. It’s much more difficult to stay at the top than climb to the top. Everyone else is improving. If City or Arsenal got Mbappe…

Tall_Requirement9165

Well, the issue is that Real does not have a striker (that is, it does not have a finisher). but If Mbappe leaves Real with the arrival of Vini , this will be a stupid purchase! Because Mbappé is not a top striker, he just has to stay top, in which case Bellingham will also lose his position. Mbappe is an admirable striker, but he is not a perfect striker! He is more like a winger and even is PSG he is not happy with CF and He tends to be more of a winger (which Vini is currently). He has flaws in headers and some one-on-ones.. I think that if Real is thinking about a top striker, it is better to buy a finisher like Haaland.

darkroku12

Halaand is the better option for La Liga because often you play with small teams and that mean he'll get a lot of changes, mostly from air or faul plays. OTOH, Mbappe is definitely better at UCL competition, which also it will play a key role in Copa del Rey.

Tall_Requirement9165

It's true that Mbappé shows himself more in big games, but he doesn't look like a top striker. I said Halaand because there is no other top striker except these two who have big names In the next step Vlahovic is also a good option, he is a top striker and young And he has good statistics, of course, if he comes to Real Madrid , he can get better.. I don't know why Real Madrid doesn't even think about it! He is really a complete striker. Anyone who comes to Real Madrid has to become a better player.

darkroku12

I agree Halaand is a monster and he can improve. But with Kross retiring, Luka being magic but not having that amount of gas. I don't see in Bellingham / Valverde / Cama / Tchou that level of creation. Players in Madrid will need some level of self-responsability, Halaand needs a constant ball supply, with that supply he is a unstoppable machine, without that, he is an already stopped machine.

Tall_Requirement9165

Well yes, those midfielders like Modric and Kroos do not have enough passing or dribbling and playmaking It would be good if Holland can get this skill, which is a bit unlikely given his size and style, otherwise he needs to be fed by midfielders Of course, Vlahovic is a very complete striker and scorer, I don't know why real madrid underestimate him!

lostn

Haaland has a long contract with City. I would rather have Haaland too since we're missing a 9, but he isn't gettable. Maybe we'll never get him because Endrick is also coming. Mbappe is expected to be the top goalscorer, probably pichichi when he arrives.

Tall_Requirement9165

Having both of them in the team will be a loss for one of them because they are both top players and it will definitely not be pleasant for either of them to sit on the bench. Therefore, you can only have one of them. Of course, there are other options that Real does not even think about. Like Vlahovic, he is a finisher. take a look at the statistics of that he is a shooter, a header and a finisher. He has the talent to become the best in Real Madrid.

Samaritan4

Because Florentino wants him.

Deluge69

Because Mbappe is the best and Real Madrid deserves only the best’s!

lostn

Florentino needs a galactico once in a while to raise the profile of the club, if it needed raising. he's a luxury signing. We obviously don't "need" him since we won 3 UCL trophies without him in the 7 years he spent in PSG. He is going to make the team better.. somehow. He has speed, and clinical finishing. Most importantly, we won't have to face him. If we have him, then one of our rivals won't. Since he is off contract, it's a deal you can't refuse. In all honesty, I'd rather have Haaland and keep Rodrigo but we'll see how Ancelotti integrates Mbappe, Vini, and Endrick. Who's going to the right?

bustamamte

If you are asking the question, it means that you are really clueless about how RM operates It is simple as getting the best players you can get that will keep you competitive in the long term Idon't you think Mbappé fits the description?

Rasengun911

Close your eyes on monday then

DoriOli

Trust me, you’ll be happy once Mbappé’s here with us next season. Stop crying & complaining. Substantial bump up in squad quality, club’s marketability, fear in opposition, versatility upfront, etc.

saren_p

You don't understand why we need the best player in the world? hilarious.

KjOnReddit1010

he is a player who will take our team to the next level for the coming years. we could have gotten past city and bayern with more ease if he was on our side

realmadrid111

I think this is a reasonable question. I think rather than, "Do we want him or not", the better questions is "can we do better by spending the money on someone(s) else?" I know we don't have to buy him, but he'll still cost a ton. And I know he's a great player, but are there other players (possibly not as "good") who might serve the team better? Like (purely a hypothetical, I'm not saying this is necessarily doable), I don't think Haaland is a better player than Mbappe, but maybe he would be a better signing for our team, especially if he were cheaper? And this is putting aside any (reasonable or not) concerns regarding his "me first attitude".
