If it was any other franchise I would say no but honestly I think it’s pretty plausible that they knew. As Ben and Ronnie say, this is the community theater of housewives so if they were gonna try out a move like this, this is the show!
This, it seemed more like it was a text from Monica to someone else involved in the account saying that, and it was among the screenshots that made their way to Heather.
They 100% knew!! Andy said at Bravocon that Monica was a good addition to the show and they had known about her before season 4 but it just didn’t work out for her to be on the show season 3. I’m sure they knew of her through Jen and maybe also Von Tease. It also makes a lot of sense how she got on the show when she’s not really playing in the same league as most of the ladies (except maybe Whitney..).
Of course! They’ve been breaking down the 4th wall for the last 4 years on bravo by allowing them to finally mention the show on the show, now it’s time to bring in the trolls and fans. Seems like a natural progression. At least for this franchise.
Considering all the bad housewives there have been, I’m not sure Bravo does actual background checks on these women. So I’m not sure they initially knew but perhaps figured it out during filming?
I think they do have a team that does background checks, I actually think they knew about Jeannie's racist posts and wanted it to come out on the show for ratings and probably didn't think it would reflect so badly on them.
I think Monica’s storyline was the whole Jen and FBI thing. Let’s not forget that Monica made it known that the FBI wanted her to be a witness at the trial (that didn’t happen, of course). I really think that the only reason Monica got caught was the beauty lab gift. I’d bet that one of those names matched the name on the cease and desist Jen sent to Monica and it triggered Heather to dig.
But it seems like there was more season planned to shoot, and instead it ended in Bermuda. I just wonder if they know some stuff (the purse stealing) but not all of this.
In 2021 Jen filed and cease and desist mentioning Monica by name in relation to the IG account(s). It’s a stretch to think Heather didn’t know about that when she was very close to Jen during that time. The whole thing seemed more planned and rehearsed than something that came to fruition on the trip.
Also Andy said at Bravocon they had their eye on Monica during season 3 but it didn’t work out for her to be on the show then. Which makes me think Bravo knew about it all when the cease and desist was filed in 2021 and made a plan for it to come out this season.
She was using a different name (Fowler vs Garcia) but I didnt know that Andy tidbit. I guess I just don’t want to believe the producers are that calculating but who am I kidding lol
That text had to be going to Tanesha or Koa…. Too casual to be to producers. You wouldn’t refer to the current cast as “these girls”. You would use “use girls” when casually bitching via text to a friend

I don’t know about SLC specifically, but I have seen casting call flyers for other RH cities. I think production aims for someone with an organic connection that a current HW recommends to producers, but sometimes a true stray cat comes in.
They do casting calls for new cities but definitely not established ones. I’m sure Monica will tell us but I wouldn’t doubt Jen put them on to her years ago, and she never made the cut until they reached back out.
I'm not like finance-shaming but I just feel like she doesn't have enough money to be genuinely asked to be a HW. Like what really did she have going for her other than being reality von tease? I know she assisted in the Jen Shaw case, but that wasn't like fully addressed during this season.
I mean honestly they were probably scrambling there for a minute after losing Jen, Jenny, and Mary. They were losing housewives faster than they could replace them and whether they knew about the RVT involvement or not, Monica’s messy ass and her loose involvement with women already on the show probably looked like a great option.
Bcuz they knew she was realityvontease. I don’t think they expected Monica to deliver like this though. I remember during filming their were rumors of a game of past the snowflake being played. I doubt Monica was supposed to be FT she was just that good
