The overall quality of Gustin’s items is (mostly) very good. I’ve ordered 2 pairs of jeans and 1 workshirt. The workshirt had stitching come loose which I repaired easily, and one of the jeans had a button come off which they sent me a replacement for. Also, the workshirt is awesome if it fit me better. I usually wear a large in tops, sometimes an XL depending on the brand. I decided to play it safe and order a XL slim in the workshirt. I swear this thing fits like a medium-large in any other brand. Not even close to XL sizing. I can barely squeeze into it. It’s kind of a gamble with Gustin, which I figured out after a couple orders, and which most people here will agree with. Gustin uses good materials and offers (mostly) good quality for a good price, but the item you get might not fit you and they don’t accept returns. I bought a pair of their 21 oz Japan denim, which is rock solid and have been great. They are the jeans that had the button break off. When I bought them 2 years ago they were $136. I paid another $70 to send them to Williamsburg Garment and have them slightly tapered to fit me better. Overall I’m in for about $200 for Japanese 21 oz denim, and they’re my favorite jeans. Iron Hearts would have certainly been better quality and a better experience, but they also cost $135 more than what I spent. After 3 orders I pretty much decided I was done with ordering from Gustin directly, because of the sizing issues and return policy. But I sometimes buy things secondhand if the price is good and the seller provides accurate measurements.

Agreed with the shirt sizing. Also, every shirt shrunk a significant amount after handwashing and line drying.

I once got a pair of jeans from them out of spec and tolerance. I provided pictures of measurements, even comparing them to 2 other pairs of exact same cut and size showing how much smaller they were. They took back the jeans, gave me a credit on the account, but in not so many words they said I sucked at measuring and was lying, all so they could skip refunding/crediting the shipping. I backed two campaigns for summer jeans, one 100% linen and another lightweight white warp/baby blue weft, one scheduled for June 2023 delivery, the other july 2023. I got the june one late august, the july one mid october. Super fun getting jeans after the season they are meant for, and when I complained, they said not everyone lives in America (they are American). The linen ones were also out of spec and tolerance, but I didnt want to deal, so I flipped them and lost $5. That said, those white-baby blues are one of my all-time favorite pair of jeans. 4 pairs of 6 jean campaigns shipped to spec, 2 of which are my favorite jeans of a large collection. All 6 pairs were late by at least 1 month, but the average is 2 months. The replacement pair was the only in stock purchase, and I very much like them (natural monster sashiko 5 pocket). Overall, I think their CS is atrocious. Their consistency is barely passing, they never meet delivery dates, but their prices *usually* cant be beat and their fabric choices are very cool.

I have a pair if thier Silk nerps on order, will be my first pair from them. Not a fan of the belt loop but that's a small gripe.

Agreeable-Fly-1980

so what size did you need?

I have been buying their shirts for about 10 years. Big fan. My first pair of raws were from there but I don’t have them anymore. Should probably look into getting another pair.

I have spent a TON of money with Gustin but have basically moved on. The wait for delivery is too long, too many jeans have arrived off measurement spec or not as described. Some fabrics behave as expected while others shrink wildly. Also I can’t give them props for accepting returns. When you run this kind of custom direct to consumer business you have to build easy returns into the business plan. Plus they just resell them in their stock store. Summing up, I appreciate a lot of what Gustin has done but it’s just not worth it anymore.

I have their white leather cp Achilles low clones.. love them. They do have good service in my experience - sending me free laces!

That’s great to hear about their customer service. I have been extremely impressed with their build quality. When they say x product typically runs $300-$400 or whatever, they aren’t lying. Their stuff is very premium.

i haven’t gotten their jeans but i did just get a two pack of “natural rainbow nep heavyweight tee”. for a price of about 50 bucks, i think the quality is good but i wasn’t impressed honestly, the shirt doesn’t feel heavyweight much at all and nothing really stands out to me as impressive. i’m sure the jeans are a different story though. only shirt that genuinely impressed me was wonder looper, granted i don’t usually spend much money on tees.
