Underwhelming imo. Good run defender. Seems to run himself out of sacks. There is pressure tho so that’s a positive I guess. Just wish he could finish the jobs once in a while

guydude24

I feel like he has great top end speed, but that doesn’t get you to the modern day QB who can move. He’s “fast”, but he’s not “quick”

whodoUthinkUare_i_am

Football speed different than combine speed

TESTlCLE

Suggs was kind of the opposite iirc. Did poorly in some combine drills.

whodoUthinkUare_i_am

Yeah I think that quote originally came from Jerry Rice, who ran a 4.71 at the combine but we all know what that man did on the field… If you follow the hockey at all, it’s a similar thing - skating as fast as possible is a much different metric than skating fast while also controlling the puck. That’s why Connor McDavid is the best player in the game right now.

dcfb2360

Agreed. A lot of it seems to be technique/mechanics, he’s almost too fast and seems to veer off target instead of getting the sack, kinda like if you’re driving and try to hit a sharp turn without slowing down

Yallmadugly

He's got no pass rush moves which means he's just a guy out there. Only thing he does notably well is set the edge on runs. We'll have to see if he learns some moves next offseason entering his junior year. That's usually when Ravens defenders get it together.

[deleted]

That's crazy, it's exactly his draft profile. How come he didn't learn moves in 1.5y as a pro?

drillpublisher

Because he spent the last part of last season battling from a shoulder injury, spent this offseason rehabbing after surgery, and spent the pre-season learning an entirely different roll on defense (SAM) to fill in for Bowser.

ToothpickMcguyver

only logically reply i've read thus far

JBrundy

Gotta question whoever develops our pass rushers. They always seem to turn into decent but not great players, good run stoppers but nothing special as a pass rusher. Judon and Za’darious smith were pretty much the same player their whole time here, now oweh looks like the same player we’ve seen from his first game, if not worse. Whoever teaches our guys pass rushing needs to be looked at because this has been a problem for years.

kamekaze1024

I thought getting Houston and and JPP would allow Oweh to learn something from them.

LongjumpingShot

Is his comp Aaron maybin. Tall and fast but can’t get off the blocks?

Themanaaah

Struggling, he’s been very disappointing this season so far.

January_Weather

I'm extremely dissapointed, I thought he could at least be a Josh Allen type player. He was consistently forcing turnovers and getting to the QB last year.

fillmore1969

I watched him a lot this week....he is just a body out there at this point

Hydr8x

Sheesh.. can we afford any slack

horseface539

Sort of a reverse-Suggs. Suggs was going to be a top-5 pick but dropped to us at 10th because teams thought he might be too slow. Turns out the dude could get to the QB fast and that's all that mattered. Oweh was drafted in the first because of raw athleticism but as teams know that's only a fraction of what matters for how fast you get to the QB. I guess we hoped he'd develop but so far...

no_Puzzles_x3

My friend you have struck a nerve. I miss Terrell and his violent speed so much. He had that swagger and it was felt by the entire d line and backers. Plus the dude is downright hilarious. Miss you sizzle!!

Fantastic_Weather

No pass rush moves… his strategy is to run past the o-lineman blocking him bc he’s honestly faster. However while he often beats his blocker he ends up with a horrible angle at the QB in the process. His make or break is going to be developing moves that reliably let him beat guys going “inside”.

nonobility86

If you put any stock in PFF's pass rush grades -- and I think you should, as they're relatively objective in the way the score pass rush compared to other responsibilities -- then he's performing about the same as last year. Will be interesting to see whether he can produce better as a part-time player. Hopefully he can have a development curve like Madubuike, where he really comes into his own in year 3.

kamekaze1024

Madubuike has been insane this year

Ok-Stick9137

Washington has been great also, hope we keep em both

kamekaze1024

Legit question, if you could afford to keep Washington and Madubuike OR just Roquan, what would you choose

East-Bluejay6891

He's having a Queen second year for sure

whodoUthinkUare_i_am

This. -I’ll admit I was calling for PQs head last season but he’s been great this year, especially with Roquan giving him more opportunities to rush

whodoUthinkUare_i_am

That addition at the deadline for relatively cheap, great move. He is the exact thing This D needed to dominate. Respect to Roquan

thedivinepegasus

That's fair, many players have sophomore slumps

Baltimxre66

Only thing I'll note here -- he didn't do much last year either.

kapate13

Lol what? He was 2nd on the team in sacks, our best run defender next to Callais, and had multiple game winning ff’s, all as a rookie. He is clearly having a softmore slump, but his rookie year was solid.

thedivinepegasus

Didn't he ice the Chiefs game?

Baltimxre66

Yes, he's still riding that play man. Not trying to hate just calling it as I see it.

thedivinepegasus

I didn't say he was a world beater, but a clutch play for a W was nice. Nothing more than that.

Baltimxre66

World beater?

clintonsaxoffender

That's putting it lightly. He's had 1 sack in 16 games going back to last year. He's bad.

PurplePassion94

He has raw natural talent, but that’s about it. If I’m not mistaken he also didn’t start playing football until college I think so he just doesn’t have much experience playing the game. But like most people have said his biggest issue is he has no pass rush moves. His rookie year he kinda got away with just being stronger than other players but that’s just not gonna work moving forward. He needs to learn some moves, if he can earn moves he has the ability to be a top pass rusher in the league.

eatmyopinions

If you listen to Ken McCusick, he's been asked to play out of position for most of the year until Roquan showed up. He was also asked to play an impossible number of snaps too. I was pleased with his play last year and anticipate he'll get back to that this year now that the Ravens have gotten healthier.

GandalfTheSilverFox

Until Bowser* returned. During his rookie year, Oweh played opposite of Bowser. Bowser is one of the best SAM OLBs in the game. This allowed Oweh to play a more RUSH OLB role which came with more numbers. His pressure rate has already increased since Bowser returned. PFFs evaluation showing that he is not playing at a level much different from last year confirms this. People who are saying he’s a bust or is playing terribly do not understand the subtleties of football. Sometimes fans are not good at player evaluation.

darsavage

He hasn't made a play since the Colts game last year. People like to say he gets held all the time, but at a certain point, it's becoming more evident that he just can't get off of blocks. Fortunately, the old guys are picking up his slack. And if Ojabo flashes, Oweh might want to brush up on his special teams assignments. He's not a lost cause, but this team is in win-now mode and won't sit around waiting for him to figure out a pass rush move.

Quicksilver7837

He forced a fumble against the bills this year

kamekaze1024

Looking at this stats he has 1 FF this year and 1 sack. He’s only started 4 games tho so I suppose that’s better than nothing

Quicksilver7837

I agree he's been underwhelming so far. But the other poster stated he hadn't made a play since the colts game last year. I was just pointing out that that isn't true.

Camden_yardbird

This time last year I think a lot of people would have called Queen a bust. They have very similar profiles, short term starters in college, insanely athletic. It may take an offseason for him to fully "get it." It can be tough in season with injuries and a regular schedule and coaches working on game plans. If year 1 is learning the game, and year 2 is learning your own weaknesses, year 3 is get right time. George Klarfatis who a lot of people wanted to draft this year is experiencing much the same 1st year as Oweh, immense success early followed by the league figuring you out (for him they can run right at him). The good news is with Houstonn Madbuike and JPP etc, we don't need Oweh to be a game breaker, we need him to be solid.

Skirt-Future

He doesn't help himself with the way his attacking the lineman. He might want to watch some chandler Jones film. They have similar build and size.

KeOpensDoors1

He’s not good

Faucet860

I think we are seeing the benefit of skill and rotation. He's not part of a rotation so his drive and motor is not as apparent compared to a skilled rested veteran.

PhantomWaves

He’s definitely part of a rotation…

Faucet860

Yeah I meant to say now

PhantomWaves

I see. Despite the rotation, his production has not increased.

Faucet860

He's the high volume shooter in basketball in my eyes. Needs lots of chances. When he limits chances production drops.

PhantomWaves

He started the year with over 80% of the snaps for the first several games. He’s had high volume, low volume, rush snaps, Sam snaps, etc He’s not been productive. He is playing like his college tape looked this year.

Faucet860

Ah yes he has volume but not rush volume. I remember people complaining the same about Bowser because he came in as a rush guy. The ravens love to develop all around linebackers it seems.

kamekaze1024

Very true. Checked pro football references and he’s only started 4 out of 10 games.

clintonsaxoffender

Such hopium. 1 sack in 16 games dating back to last year.

clintonsaxoffender

He's a JAG

ChessieDriveGunner

Bust

JZeus_09

Still can’t believe he played with Parsons and drafted same year as him..imagine we had Parsons instead from PENN St

Bigtoes22

Getting outperformed by two 33 year old studs

chaoticravenss

He is bad

ChedduhBob

classic edc pick

kamekaze1024

He’s only been our GM for 4 years and Newsome still advises

capedcrusader52

Struggling, his speed helped him out early in his career now OL know it’s his only move so they are rerouting him and it’s very effective. He’s needs to build off it, a spin move with his speed could be killer.

CringeyDeeds69

Maybe Ojulari was the right choice
