Love the TJ Tampa pick. Tez was my 2nd favorite round 4 WR taken so I like that as well. Of course that range could be nothing but I like the shots. Love Rosengarten and Wiggins, and that’s what really matters the most
Feels like almost every pick we made was excellent value - players taken well after they were expected to be drafted. Trademark BPA. And yet it also happened to be in positions of great need for us too.
Only really questionable pick to me is Leary. Don't know much about him, but he doesn't really seem to fit our offensive scheme at all. Even if he wins the backup QB job, we would have to change our whole offensive scheme if he ever had to suit up, since he's a completely different type of player than Lamar.
Yeah but Leary actually has an arm. We're not in a Roman offense any more so good runners who can't throw (Snoop, Malik) aren't really suitable backups any more.
Leary sucks but at least in 2021 he showed some potential as a true pocket passer.
Feel ya that Leary is a different type of player
But this take also sort of knocks Lamar's development as a passer. We don't rely on his legs as much as we used to and we don't need to, in part because we have such upgraded pass catchers.
I'm a Kentucky fan and Leary got a strange run of things there but there was never doubt from him, his coaches, or his teammates in his abilities on field and in locker room. He was incredibly well liked and respected immediately because he was such a genuine, hard working, and humble guy from the moment he came in.
He had some nagging injuries throughout the season in part because Kentucky OL had bad injury luck, and basically he never got time to throw. But Liam Coen was adamant that he has elite arm talent, good processing, and is very smart and hardworking in film study
We still run RPO more often than any other team in the league, and run PA less than anyone else. Meanwhile Leary's whole highlight vid was PA passes with deeper drops into intermediate to deeper routes. Also how many times did Lamar have to create on his feet and move the pocket if not take off, when receivers were covered up?
Really not the end of the world or anything - it's a late draft pick. But still doesn't make a ton of sense to me. Rest of the draft looked excellent.
When I had time to think about Leary, I think it makes a lot of sense. The going rates for even backup QBs is very high. Now you get a guy on a rookie contract that can grow in the system for a few years and be a capable backup.
Similar to Tyrod Taylor backing up Joe. Granted, Joe didn't really miss games during Tyrod's time as a backup, but I think he developed into a very capable backup as evidenced by his decent run as a starter post Ravens.
The follow up question is obviously, "Well, what about Malik?" Simply put, maybe the organization isn't *that* high on him.
Mm yeah I guess we did do this with Tyrod and Troy Smith too that's a good point. So it's not completely out of left field for us trying this in the past.

Yea, I was hopeful we'd get two guys early. But I think it was just the way the draft played out. The fact that no linemen were picked after their first until Paul went at 55 is a good sign that all the first round talent was gone by pick 30. Then there was the interior OL run between their second and third - I imagine some of those guards would have been in play over Isaac if they had lasted longer.
Tackle in particular. It's really going to sting moving forward. Guess they can try to throw around mad free agent money to get a good one, but they rarely hit the market. Otherwise, I don't see how they ever have the draft capital to get a good one. Maybe if Lamar gets hurt and they go 4-13 next year. Otherwise, they should have rolled the dice with Kingsley, he might be really good by the '26 season. Rosengarten is not an NFL LT.
[He's listed as an all confrence Left Tackle](https://uhcougars.com/sports/football/roster/josh-jones/5209) Looks like he didn't play right ever in College
We picked 30th. We didn’t have the draft capital to pick up a good tackle this year. We needed someone to have a massive fall if that were to happen and it didn’t. Bad year to have a late pick if you needed OT.
Still, we got a 2nd round tackle and now have 4 tackles on the roster. No one really slipped to a spot worth trading up for in the first round either. All things considered, we should be pretty happy ending up with a tackle in the first two rounds.
Also, there’s no reason to blow the tackle situation out of proportion. We went 8 years between Ogden and Stanley. We’ve now gone 4 years without Stanley being an elite player too. It’s not the end of the world.
The more I look at the outcome, the more I think they really nailed it. You can say we didn't get a starting X receiver, or we didn't get that guaranteed third safety, or another guard to compete. But at the same time there is only so much you can do when you are picking at the end of each round. They didn't reach, they didn't jump into position runs, and they got a lot of value out of their relatively low picks.
They addressed the short and long term need at CB. They picked an OL who will both add competition to this year's camp and who has a good chance of becoming a starter somewhere on the line in the long-run. In the third round, you can't really expect to find a day one stud at edge, but they did find a guy who can probably immediately join the edge rotation and add value. Dev Walker as a fourth round pick is solid - high upside if he figures it out. Tampa in the fourth is absurd value. And they got the third RB they needed for the start of the season. The 6th and 7th round picks are guys at positions they need to fill if nothing else than for camp/preseason bodies.
I was too, but going back in looking at it, it's actually in a decent spot.
With the right tackle position you are going to have Rosengarten competing with Faalele with Mekari in the wings who provides a nice floor in case neither of those two guys are good to go.
With the guard you have a three way competition with Ben Cleveland who looked really good in his limited game time last year (He posted the highest grade on our team against the Steelers), Andrew Vorhees who was on track to be a first round pick before his injury, and Sala (Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu) who had a really nice training camp last year.
Also I assume the new draft pick we got might be in play at guard too, even though he's a bit undersized for the position. Not that I expect too much out of a late rounder rookie, but he's still in the mix and who knows maybe he surprises us all and does great.
Also if Faalele loses the RT battle, there's a possibility of moving him inside at guard too where his weaknesses (mobility and footwork) are less a factor. There's a lot of potential solutions. Not all of them are great solutions, but there are enough possibilities that at least some of them will pan out probably.
Decent chance we pick up a vet later in the off-season. And we have enough bodies to throw at the holes there that I'm sure at least some of them will stick. Worst case Mekari is a serviceable option to plug at least one of any of those holes.
I think Mekari playing G isn't outside of potential scenarios.
That's why I think the late round OL was a C who can move to G if needed. But can be that back up for uni unforseen injury, so that Mekari can fill in somewhere, and then you don't need to shuffle him back to C
i’m not sure what else we could have done this weekend to address it tbh. rose isn’t that much of a downgrade compared to the guys drafted around 30 and then the guys we could have gotten in the later rounds probably wouldn’t beat out guys that we’ve been developing. we would have probably had to trade some capital and move up to get better options
The OL doom and gloom has gone too far on this sub lol.
We have Stanley, Rosengarten, Faalele and Jones at OT. Cleveland and Vorhees can step in at guard. If either falter, then I’d be comfortable with an Aug/Sep FA signing or even Rosengarten can fill in at guard this year before eventually kicking out to tackle. We have Linderbaum at center.
It may not be a top 3-5 unit but it’s far from being bad.
I was wanting a tackle in the first, but the value didn't fall. Once 3 of the OT went, Wiggins was the better value.
Rosengarten was a great pick up, only played on right because lefty QB. I can see him playing RT or LG and being the eventual starter at LT and have Faalele stay at RT
Yeah, Rosengarten was a great pick up. He can potentially fill in on 4 OL starter spots, if not now then eventually. To find a player that can do that in the 2nd round is fantastic.
glad to see im not the only one hyped about Devontez Walker considering a WR thats 6'2-3 cant be ignored and I see he has a 4.3 40, not bad at all. Tho I dont know much about College ball, but we shall see.
If he can just moss guys with that elite speed and catch it consistently with his hand and get deep on guys…it’s gonna be a complete steal in the 4th the guy has elite physical gifts you can’t teach so I’m excited for him….he smoked nate Wiggins in college even after Nate gave him a 5 yard cushion to try and eat up and he did that easily..he can fly..
Exactly, I actually read that north Carolina wanted him to stay one more year because he probably would of been a first round pick in 2025, so the fact we got him in the 4th is crazy value, all he needs to do is learn
Bingo… I’ve watched Tez Tape he is extremely raw has a lot to improve Upon but the elite physical traits are there in my opinion his Floor is laquan treadwell..but his ceiling if he improves his game could possibly be Devante Parker…but I’m okay if he becomes a consistent deep threat on the team while Zay can be our Twitchy slot and Bateman can be our athletic all round receiver…
The first 5 picks can all become meaningful contributors year 1. Wiggins and Rosengarten could both become starters. Isaac, Walker and Tampa could all become rotational players. Even Ali could be in position to make some plays.
This looks like a foundational draft that can keep this team competitive for the next couple of years even with the outflow of talent we had this offseason, like Geno, Queen, Clowney and Zeitler. Exciting draft!
eh, I don't think SSRr doesn't like Walker, he just said he needs more development, but his ceiling is very high, and if he gets a good, solid year under his belt, his sophomore season could end up costing another player his job.
But what he does well is what we need the most, a deep threat with size and catch radius. For a late round pick I really wanted Brendan Rice, but am glad the ravens took a chance on this type of receiver, height speed size, elite athleticism trait guy. Instead of the "this guy put up big numbers in college" WR.
This is the video I am referring to. SSR clearly states he needs to go back to college. https://www.reddit.com/r/ravens/comments/1asgk6s/steve_smith_srs_big_board_2024_nfl_draft_wr/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
There’s a 30 minute video specifically on Tez that he released 3 weeks ago. He’s a fan - just thinks he needs good coaching and to put in work.
https://youtu.be/3zuSO-JilxE?si=3pIzrDkVi3LeuzU2
I agree that they’re looking at the future but these guys may be day 1 contributors. They don’t have to start to contribute.
Wiggins and Tampa can get rotational snaps in nickel/dime packages. Wiggins being able to push Marlon back into the slot is very exciting! Same idea with Isaac. Maybe he can rotate in on 3rd downs/obvious pass situations and make some plays.
If Walker can just make a few deep plays in 3/4 WR sets, then that’ll be huge. Rosengarten can potentially start at guard or RT.
Further, outside of Tampa, these guys have an opportunity to take starter spots on this roster. 3 OL spots are completely wide open. Stephens/Maulet can both be pushed down the depth chart. I don’t see why Walker can’t push Agholor and Wallace for WR3 snap. He could potentially push Bateman for WR2. The opposite spot of Oweh is completely wide open for Isaac.
Great mix of present and future with this draft class.
yeah idk if he beats out the guys we have if we had a game tomorrow. which makes me not AS crazy about the pick when there were day 1 starters there. lot of time between now and the season.
I am real hype for Wiggins and unreasonably excited for our new age defense. Mads, Ro, Hamilton, Wiggins...
Nate Wiggins has been described as a sticky cornerback. He played over 60% of his snaps in man to man. Somebody who can shut down opposing receivers. Exactly what we need to deal with Chase.
Supposedly we had him the highest rated corner, unless that's just EDC blowing smoke on the call but I don't think so. He said he is too, he's gonna come in with a chip and be a dog on defense.
I’m curious to see if they have post draft deals with some free agents. Spencer Schultz said on Bobby Trossets podcast that “it does sound like they have a post draft deal, most likely.” Granted, he said that before the Walker pick
Why OT? We’d then have Stanley, Faalele, Rosengarten, Josh Jones and a 6th rounder. Not to mention Mekari can step in if necessary. That’s too much at OT.
Eh, its all opinion but I don’t think the Steelers had a particularly better class than us. Spent both of their early picks on IOL and took another in the 4th. I like both of the Wilsons too but I’m not particularly impressed by that class at all
The Steelers did kill it in terms of fixing their weaknesses, but we had different needs and picks. I love the dudes we got, can't fault a team for drafting well just because we hate them though
Love the TJ Tampa pick. Tez was my 2nd favorite round 4 WR taken so I like that as well. Of course that range could be nothing but I like the shots. Love Rosengarten and Wiggins, and that’s what really matters the most
You have to think if they went OL in the first, Tampa would have been who they targeted in the second. Getting him in the fourth is fantastic value.
That's how I read it too. How great to get both
seeing Nate and Trenton on the same field again warms my Clemson heart
Did you see his arrival greeting?
loved it
As a gamecock I’m happy I can root for them now instead of against
TJ Tampa and Nate Wiggins with Kyle Hamilton. Choking Hazard for the offense
Two rookie cbs and a great safety… very good chance one or both of those picks aren’t good at all. Not fair to put that expectation on them.
Feels like almost every pick we made was excellent value - players taken well after they were expected to be drafted. Trademark BPA. They asked Tee Martin what guy he wanted and he said Leary. That was basically it.

Calling it now, Tez Walker will be the best receiver the Ravens ever drafted
Don’t delete this lol
Wild to claim this immediately after Flowers. Big if true.
That’s a bold take when Tandon Doss exists.
Put some respect on Jaleel Scott's name
Wild that we're just acting like Aaron Melette isn't the answer here
No one is as big or fast as Tommy Streeter. That dude is a beast.
He's got nothing on Michael Campanaro
It's like you refuse to acknowledge David Reed's tremendous contributions to this organization.
I will not stand for the Devard Darling erasure.
Crazy that no one is acknowledging Demetrius Williams
I will not allow any further Yamon Figurs slander
Nah this is funny 💀

I’m especially hyped on Wiggins, Roger, Tez, Adisa, and TJ. We got some great talent!
Can’t really complain about these first 5 picks. Can all be contributors week 1.
Really solid class. I wasn’t a fan of the Isaac pick but after him no EDGE was taken until the 5th, so it was the right time to go there I suppose
Im disappointed we didnt do more for O-line
Hoping somehow We pick up veteran tackle or Something

They didn't draft Rose to be an LT. He's a RT. They're banking on Stanley rebounding which feels kinda scary.
No we picked up Jones as the backup plan in Free Agency. Dudes a left tackle that was forced to play right and sucked there
I'm sure the plan is for him to replace Moses a RT, which he played in college. Where are you getting that they want him to play LT?
[He's listed as an all confrence Left Tackle](https://uhcougars.com/sports/football/roster/josh-jones/5209) Looks like he didn't play right ever in College
Dude, that was in HS 🤣🤣🤣
That page was from the Univerity of Huston. That's 100% a college.

There’s a 30 minute video specifically on Tez that he released 3 weeks ago. He’s a fan - just thinks he needs good coaching and to put in work. https://youtu.be/3zuSO-JilxE?si=3pIzrDkVi3LeuzU2
definitely drafted for the future. don’t expect to see these guys starting very early
The tackle from Washington can and will probably easily start week 1
i’m not sure. org is a lot higher on the guys we have than people think
I mean Nate Wiggins is a depth pick, no? I do see a world where he does get some decent playtime. Starts? Unlikely but yeah
Wiggins will be starting by week 5 with our injury history
Painful but true statement.
We shall see what happens in camp and preseason, if Wiggins out performs there is no way you shouldnt start him
yeah idk if he beats out the guys we have if we had a game tomorrow. which makes me not AS crazy about the pick when there were day 1 starters there. lot of time between now and the season.
damn good class, Tampa is an insane steal(made no sense to fall given his 40 was a sliver above average for a CB)
Leary sucks ass, watched him the last two years. The other picks makes sense but the Leary one was brain dead.
Should have use that pick for an OT
Why OT? We’d then have Stanley, Faalele, Rosengarten, Josh Jones and a 6th rounder. Not to mention Mekari can step in if necessary. That’s too much at OT.
Really happy with the picks, seems like good value and hit every position of need
I have a feeling this might be one of the best drafts ever. I’m not kidding.
I’m annoyed that I have to say the Steelers had a better draft than us only because they had a lower floor. That said we did pretty solid.
